We've had a Sharp prior to the Emerson and found that this particular model was virtually identical to the microwave we were going to replace. Only drawback is that the inside light doesn't come on except during cooking, but this is not a game changer. This item has suited the bill very well.

It is easy to see the cooking times on the front being black on white. It cooks fine...pretty evenly. The reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that it doesn't seem as powerful as indicated. We always have to add 5 to 10 seconds or so on cooking times which is not a big deal. Works great for what she needs.
