    Don't Count on the Light or Support from Sharp

    My elderly parents bought this Microwave last December and I recently found out that the internal light went out within 2 months of purchase. When my Dad called Sharp's Customer Service to see if it was covered - He was told that the light bulb was not covered under that manufacturers warranty and that they could take it to be repaired for $59.95 + Tax (Bulb + Labor) - 2 months Unfortunately they did not purchase the Best Buy warranty. Whether it is a bulb or other issues - I would be concerned with purchasing any Sharp products - Obviously they do not stand behind their products

    Purchased to replace a Sharp Carousel manufactured in 1999. This model cooks slower and heats food unevenly, has a noisier carousel and a louder magnetron, especially when used on a power other than high. Unit is lightweight such that when pulling the door open, the entire unit slides forward on the counter necessitating pushing it back. Buttons on control panel are also slow to respond, often requiring more than one press to enter. Panel not backlit requiring turning on light to see buttons to program.

    The light went out exactly 6 months

    The thing seems to work okay, but the light went out exactly six months after purchase. I've had many microwaves before, and the light never went out, even for microwaves that were 12 or 13 years old. And of course Sharp doesn't stand behind the light bulbs. I won't buy another Sharp Microwave. Apparently us regular people are not supposed to change the lightbulb.
