Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the size and ease of use as top features of the Carousel 2.2 Cu. Ft. Microwave with Sensor Cooking. Many appreciate its powerful performance and sensor cooking capabilities, along with the overall value for the price. However, some users note that the microwave can be noisy and have a control panel that is difficult to read.

I’ve been using some version of a Sharp microwave for over 40 years. I will not buy any other brand. They are like a Timex - they just keep on working!

Grill on door hard to clean

Had a carousel for18 years so bought another one. The new model has a mesh-like grill on the inside of the front door. Had a food splatter incident which happens when warming food. Splatter went onto front door. It is caught between the glass and mesh. I cannot clean it as mesh grill can’t be removed. Contacted company and they told me take pictures and send to them. Really?? I just wanted to know how to clean and if there is a way to remove the grill so as to clean it. Should have bought a Samsung.

This microwave is a great choice if you need it to be freestanding, not built in. We had a small issue, but it was resolved in a jiffy!

So far- so good. We’ve only had it about a month, and we have heard that microwaves now only last a year or two. Our previous Sharp Carousel lasted 20 years!

This is a great unit for a 2.0 cubic foot microwave oven. It has an east to use control panel and the glass door front makes it easy to clean and doesn’t scratch like the plastic ones on other models that cost more.

Got this for my mom who hates the tiny microwaves they sell at other stores. She loves the size of it and it works super well. It is also extremely quiet. She constantly thinks it’s not working, but it is!

Sharp - Like a Knife in the Back

Bought the microwave and immediately noticed that compared to my previous unit (not a Sharp) the sensor reheat was pretty much worthless (literally heated a bowl so hot that it cracked and broke). The heat something thoroughly I have one of three options: 1) Stop midway and stir, 2) Let the container and edges be boiling lava so that the middle gets warm/hot, 3) Cook it for two or three times as long at a lower power level. I complained to Sharp and they sent a replacement microwave which I delayed deploying because it worked enough and I am not the primary user of the microwave. When the original unit started turning itself off mid-cook and having issues with turning back on (seems related to the door sensors maybe), I unboxed the replacement and with great ceremony loudly proclaimed, "Tada!" (as the new microwave was ready for use). For the inaugural cook, I heated a pyrex measuring cup with water. Unfortunately, 3 seconds later when the magnetron kicked on I knew there was a problem as something began buzzing and crackling. I tried it one more time and now as soon as the unit kicks on, it goes completely blank and resets. What a piece of garbage with quality control that seems non-existent. My record with Sharp for non-TV items is limited to this microwave, but of the two I used one works poorly most of the time and the other did not heat a single molecule of water before frying itself. All thumbs down. Do not buy, or buyer beware and get a warranty. I thought the GE was bad for failing after 5 years or so, this is several times worse. P.S. I picked this unit because I liked the quick cook buttons that it has (like many manufactures now provide) as well as the sensor cook which I loved on the GE. Since the sensor cook never worked well for me - perhaps due to a magnetron that was cooking at the wrong frequency(?) - but the basic features of the unit were well thought out overall. It simply did not heat food like it should and that is kind of a deal breaker for a microwave. The shielding of the unit was fine when I tested that.

My last Sharp Carousel Microwave lasted over 28 years so when it came time to get a new one it only made sense to stick with the same brand and model.
