This item was to large for the kitchen in my apartment.

It's more powerful than the earlier generation Sharp Carousel that it replaced. But it's very obviously much more cheaply made, with the flimsy door and latches, and cheap feeling controls. It also lacks the convection feature the earlier one had. I doubt it will last anywhere near as long as the older model did.

This was an excellent purchase. Replaced a 30+ year old Sharp microwave with this comparable model. Hope it lasts another 30 years. Easy to use and fits like a glove into the cabinet opening.

We have been using this microwave for about a month and are very pleased with the size, performance, pre-programmed settings, and power of the unit. Well worth spending a few dollars more.

Love this microwave. Going on 3 years now and no problems. Love the fact that i can just touch 4 and start and will go 4 mins lol up to 6 mins without having to hit time first. Works great i usually knock of 30 sec to a min when cooking because ot heats food fast.

So far...so good. Great microwave. Able to fit a 13x9 dish inside.

I purchased this Microwave On Saturday. I'm not impressed; Microwave is loud, Buttons are to see, hard to press, I don't like the fact that the timer alarm does not shut off when door is opened. Overall Sharp has done a very poor job with this microwave. I bought this as a replacement for a microwave that shorted out. I had a Sharp that lasted for over 15 years and had only considered a Sharp. Now I wish I would have shopped around. Your headed down the same path as sears, LL Bean and others That are trying to appeal to everyone and not be true to your base customers. If you want to offer cheaper alternatives do so under a different name, and offer higher quality products to those that are willing to spend the extra money.

I purchased the Sharp SMC2242DS microwave with high expectations, but after about two years of ownership, it began sparking and arcing during use. This was both alarming and inconvenient, as it rendered the microwave unusable. Hoping to get the issue resolved, I contacted Sharp's customer support. Unfortunately, the experience only added to my frustration. When I inquired about a replacement part, I was informed that it was out of stock. Instead of offering a reasonable solution or providing a timeline for when the part might be available, the representative tried to upsell me a new microwave at a discounted rate. This approach is unacceptable. A product should last more than two years without developing such serious issues, and customer support should focus on resolving problems rather than making a sale. The combination of a faulty product and inadequate support has left me extremely dissatisfied. I would not recommend the Sharp SMC2242DS to anyone. Save your money and look for a more reliable brand with better customer service.

The print on the instructions label on the upper side is way too small for a microwave d signed to go above a counter or stove. The defrost instructions are not as simple as the instructions on the same siz and brand purchased in the late 1990s.

Like it a lot. Easy to install: just plug in cord. Easy fit. Dependable: had my last Sharp Carousel for 20 years. Both 1200 watts, but this one seems to take a little longer to cook.

Received my microwave in good condition and it works great. My previous Sharp M/W lasted 21+ years so I have high hopes for this one. Love the stainless steel.

I purchased this at Bestbuy in Dec. 2021. I believe that I'm on my 3rd unit now. Sharp has sent me free two free replacements because the magnetron or thermal fuse failed. The 3rd unit is now shutting of in the middle of cooking the 2nd frozen pot pie (8.5 min). It hasn't failed entirely but isn't functioning as expected. The manufacturer is willing to send a replacement for $162.99 the new unit being a new version of my discontinued unit, (the original purchase was $209). Unit #3 is less than a year old. I'm not going to waste another cent on Sharp products. It seems their business model is to force you to purchase a new microwave from them every year or two.

Purchased based on numerous positive reviews and great value (on sale $169.99). Now the downside. After installing in my kitchen cabinet and tucking away the power cord, went to test with mug of water and no lights during operation and no turning of the carousel. If it wasn't for the wifey decision to do even exchange I would have returned for the LG at higher price. This time we had Best Buy test the exchanged unit at the store which worked fine. I highly recommend having them test the unit at the store before you bring it home to avoid the aggravation. Would have been nice if the Sales Manager hooked me up with discount or gift card for my inconvenience.

Bought this as a replacement for a 12 year old Sharp Carousel. No disappointment. Great product.

This is the best microwave I've ever had – it's perfect!

Works good, Lights up good, Easy to set up and ea 2.2sy to use.

Way too big for our need. Fits on the counter luckily.

We are waiting for our third microwave in three months. First two had the same problem: after using it twice to cook two items each for three minutes, when we go to use the microwave again for 30 seconds to reheat coffee, the power level will drop itself down to 7 from 10 midway through. Have to unplug the microwave to make itself reset to normal settings. Good news is Sharp Customer Service follows through by phone and email extremely well. Now if we could just get a microwave that works! Waiting to hear from their engineers after the July 4th week before they'll decide what to do about the second microwave. Fortunately, we still have the shipping box.

Feature fail, out of the box: Set-power-level does not work. I'm pretty adept and electronics and products (I could, actually, program my VCR in the 80's) and set-power-level is bad. Not a bad keypad or hardware failure, but bad firmware. Does anyone test products before shipping? Will roll the dice with another brand/model. I have faith in none of them. There is no way to contact anyone to ask, eg. in case I'm simply misunderstanding. I could be wrong! But there's no way to know.
