This pair of Shockz earbuds comes in a package that makes you think of expensive high-line devices. Inside is a compact case for storing and charging the ear pieces as well as a charging cable and instructions. The Shockz phone app walks you through the install and Bluetooth pairing, and you are ready to use them in a few minutes. These are the style of earbuds with a semi circular "hook" of sorts that goes behind your ear, making the positioning of them easy and keeping them securely on your ears. Very easy and very comfortable. Of course there is a microphone built in so you can use them for phone calls. I was blown away by how good these ear buds sound. Without even any equalizer tweaks there was decent bass and mid-range off the bat, very unusual for "bud" style phones. I am the kind that has to have bass, and these do pretty well for ear buds in this price range. The stereo separation is fantastic, especially when I tested them watching baby AI videos. An audio track from a popular early 90's movie played and I could hear the cars driving back and forth like I was on the set of the movie. Great sound quality.

Comfort and Clarity Without the Compromise

Initial Thoughts The OpenFit2+ are a huge step forward from traditional in-ear or on-ear headphones. The number one win for me is comfort. I deal with serious ear fatigue from in-ear buds, and on-ear models tend to feel hot and tight. These don’t do either. They’re so lightweight and natural-feeling that I often forget I’m even wearing them. Open-Ear = Awareness and Comfort Another huge plus is how they keep you aware of your surroundings. These don’t block off your ears, so I can still hear what’s happening around me (cars, people, conversations) without needing to take them off or toggle settings. I don’t often need noise cancellation, so this open design is the perfect solution for daily use, outdoor walks, and work-from-home calls. Sound Quality and Audio Features The sound took a little getting used to, especially coming from Pixel Buds. At first, the sound was just “okay,” but once I tuned the EQ in the app, things improved a lot. The Dolby Spatial Audio is a cool feature, but I actually prefer it off for music. It seems to expand the soundstage too much, and I found the mix more enjoyable without it. For movies or immersive audio, it’s excellent. Here’s what sets these apart technically: * Dual-driver setup: a dedicated high-frequency driver and a 17.3mm low-frequency driver. * Crisp highs and clean bass with less distortion than most small-format earbuds. * Frequency range: 50Hz to 40kHz, sensitivity at 96.5dB. * Even at half volume they sound full, and at max volume they’re surprisingly loud. Battery and Charging Battery life is excellent. You get 11 hours from the earbuds themselves and 48 more from the case. A 10-minute charge gives you about 2 hours of playback. The case supports wireless charging, so it’s easy to top off with a charging pad. Fit and Feel Comfort is top-tier. There’s no in-ear pressure, and they don’t grip or pull at your ear. They rest just outside the ear canal, more like tiny speakers that sit right next to your ear opening. The silicone ear hook has a nickel-titanium core that keeps it flexible but firm. It holds its shape even after you twist or bend it, and it never feels heavy or irritating. Features and App Integration * Multi-point Bluetooth pairing: connect to two devices at once (great for phone + PC setups). * The app gives full EQ control, button remapping, and a “find my device” feature. * IP55 rating for water and dust resistance: fine for sweat and rain, just don’t go swimming with them. Final Verdict Most headphones in the sport or fitness category don’t get anywhere close to this level of comfort or sound quality. Shokz really broke the mold with the OpenFit2+. I highly recommend them, even if you have no plans to work out with them. These are the most comfortable, easy to wear earbuds I’ve used, and they sound great too!

The sound, material, and even functions are all upgrades from the original. Biggest gripe was the headphones staying connected even when in the case, they fixed that issue with the open fit 2

Over the years I've used a lot of earbud style headphones, and they all seem to have one big problem for me. After extended periods of use my ears hurt because they just don't fit quite right. Well, I'm happy to say that with this set of "earbuds" that's not a problem anymore. That's because instead of having to force a little nub inside your ear These comfortably sit just outside the ear canal. You might think that because of that they may not be usable in some places because of extra noise but surprisingly if you have them at a somewhat normal volume the sound bleed is actually not bad at all. I was able to wear them in an office environment at a comfortable listening volume without anyone complaining about excess noise. Overall, the sound quality is actually really good and whatever they are doing for the spatial audio makes it sound like your sitting in a room listening to normal speakers not listening through headphones which is also kind of nice. I will say this be careful with the volume because they get very loud if you want them to. When I have them connected to my phone a comfortable level is like 25 or 30% volume. So, I don't think I'll ever have a worry about them not being loud enough. I think with the great sound quality and lack of ear pain when wearing them this is probably going to be my go-to earbuds for quite a while. And as an added bonus the carry/charger case is slimmer than that of most of my other earbuds as well.

    Perfect for outdoor runs

I run several times a week, and have gone through countless pairs of earbuds trying to find the perfect balance of comfort and sound. Most traditional earbuds rattle out of my ear when running which is frustrating and annoying. The only style of ear buds that work for me are the Ones that hook over the ear or clip on to the year. The design is the first thing that sets the OpenFit 2+ apart. Instead of relying on suction inside the ear canal, they use a secure earhook design that wraps comfortably around the ear. This means They don't rattle out and they stay locked in place no matter how much you move. On my first run with them, not once did I have to readjust. The security they provide is easily the biggest advantage for runners. The OpenFit 2+ doesn’t block your ear canal, which allows you to stay fully aware of your surroundings. This is something that I absolutely need to have especially since I've had too many close calls with bicyclists and the only thing that prevented me from getting hit was me hearing the bicycle zooming down. Traditional earbuds often isolate you too much, which can feel unsafe during outdoor runs. With these, I can hear both my music and approaching traffic clearly. Comfort is another highlight. Since nothing is wedged deep inside your ear, there’s no pressure or soreness after long use. For me, that’s huge. Battery life is excellent, easily lasting through multiple long runs before needing a charge. In short, the OpenFit 2+ fixes the number one problem runners face with traditional earbuds: they actually stay put. Add in situational awareness, lasting comfort, solid sound, Wireless charging and they’ve quickly become part of my go to ear buds for my outdoor runs.
