they work great when they work, I had to replace my original set only a couple of months after my purchase of them, I will say that the replacement procedure was quick and easy. Hopefully my new pair will last much longer than the previous one. So far so good.

Finally what I wanted in open style headphones

The Shokz openfit 2+ headphones finally check all the boxes for me in an open fit style headphone. See, I have a much much cheaper version from another brand and although I do like them for some uses, but the quality is terrible, the fit is bad, and the mics are useless. The Shokz on the other hand are fantastic in all these categories. I need a good audio quality open fit designed headphone for zoom/discord calls as well as exercising and running on busy streets. Now I wouldn’t say these have “amazing audio quality” because they are still open fit which will always struggle to get a full sound, but in that category, I think these are amazing. The sound is good enough to satisfy a need for music when running or working out and is plenty good for basic video calls etc. I love how I can hear everything going on around me but with my own little private soundtrack. The comfort is also amazing on these headphones. I actually found myself forgetting they were on and ended up wearing them for over an hour with no music or sound playing and completely forgot they were on my head. This comfort combined with the ability to hear your surroundings made me forget others can’t actually hear what I’m listening to and, at one point, I turned to my wife and asked her a question about the podcast I was listening to and she looked at me blank faced and said “I can’t hear what you’re listening to.” oops. So yeah, I’d say using these headphones sounds a lot like having a small speaker in the room playing whatever you’re listening to, but in reality, others can’t hear anything. And that’s pretty true even when I cranked the volume. If you’re old enough to remember the joys of having a diskman and those classic old style headphones that sat over your ears, then you remember how you could hear everything someone was listening to if they had the volume up past midway. These do not have the same effect. Yes a little, but I had to have the volume so loud it actually wasn’t pleasant for me either. I will say, I have smaller than most ears, and I think the fit isn’t exactly perfect for me, but they still fit fine. The heavy back that hangs over the ears holds everything in place even though they feel a little loose. But I put them to the ultimate test running on a busy street and even with the steps, the headphones never fell off. At first it felt like they might fall off, but after a while I knew they wouldn’t and I didn’t notice them bouncing or moving at all. The best part was I could hear all the cars and people around me though. It was so nice to not freak out when a car comes flying by behind me that I didn’t hear coming at all. I could hear every car approach and was able to move to the safer part of the road when needed. If you have ever tried running with noise canceling headphones on, you know what I’m talking about. Now I don’t have to sacrifice audio quality for safety. So about that quality. Like I said, best audio I’ve heard through an open fit design ever. The sound isn’t going to be as full as enclosed headphones or as thick of a low end for sure, but I was really surprised how clean and balanced the sound was. It wasn’t just all highs and tinny, even though the speakers were resting outside my ear. Of course, if I pushed the headphones into my ears, I could hear a more full sound but obviously these aren’t designed for that and I didn't think it was that much worse. Part of that may have to do with the dolby audio option available. You have to make sure your phone or device has dolby as well, and it is on, but once you do the sound quality goes up even more. This was especially true for videos and movies. I loved how clean and immersive the audio felt while watching movies or shows. The dialogue was crisp and the action didn’t sound muddy or weak. OVERALL: I love these shokz open fit 2+ headphones. The audio quality is great for it’s class, the battery life is insanely long, the comfort is unmatched and the design is sleek and well thought out. I love that I can wear these all day and forget they’re on all while having whatever background music or podcast etc I want following me around. They’re great for walking around the house, doing chores, but they’re also fantastic for working out and running on busy streets. The ability to hear all your surroundings while running, shopping, cleaning, etc is so helpful and makes adding a private soundtrack to your day easy and fun. I absolutely love these headphones and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs to be able to hear their surroundings but still want relatively good audio quality.

Wow. That one word sums up these amazing little open-ear headphones, which produce the best music sound quality I have ever heard from a headphone, especially in the earbud and open-ear category. Add in the fact they are incredibly comfortable and feature a few noteworthy upgrades, like Dolby Audio and wireless charging, and you have a product that is hard to beat. Still, the most remarkable thing about the Shokz OpenFit 2+ is how something this small can sound so great. The first time I tried them I was stunned at the strong bass, crystal clear mids and soaring highs that came out of these things. A very balanced and precise sound, unlike anything I have heard from any other earbud or open-air headphone. This open-ear design is usually a trade off. You get supreme comfort -- I cannot stand having earbuds jammed into my ear canal for any length of time -- but usually have to settle for somewhat lackluster sound quality: It is usually thin, lacks bass and is not quite loud enough. OK for phone calls or podcasts but not great for music. Shokz seems to have solved this problem with its dual driver design. One cranks out clean, solid bass while the other handles the more delicate musical passages. Not only that, these earphones can get very loud, louder than I would ever want to play them. So that shortcoming also has been overcome. To push the sound quality envelope even further, Shokz has also added Dolby Audio support on the plus model, which provides a much wider sound field when using Bluetooth devices that support Dolby, and full immersive cinematic Dolby sound effects when watching movies. I was surprised that this actually did improve the sound quality even more, even on music that is not Dolby encoded. But it is user optional. You can turn if off, using the app, if you prefer straight audio. (It does drain the battery faster when turned on) Another big plus is a physical control button, which you can also customize to do whatever you want via the app. You are no longer stuck with just finicky touch controls that never seem to do what you want. Or you hit accidentally. You still have to deal with learning they whole multiple press or press-and-hold combinations that are necessary since there is only one button. But this makes the user experience a lot better. Battery life also has been improved compared to some earlier versions, with up to 11 hours from the built-in battery and 48 hours using the standalone case to recharge the earphones. Also new is the wireless charging capabilities of the case itself, assuming you already have a Qi-certified wireless charger. (If not, the earphones come with a short USB C cable for wired charging via the case). Of course the other great advantage of the open-ear design is you always maintain situational awareness. You can hear what's going on around you just as easily as if you were not wearing any headphones at all. And that's a lot safer, or perhaps just more convenient, depending on your situation. The now-familiar ear-hook design keeps the earphones in place, even doing exercise and have marginal resistance to dirt, sweat and light rain. But they are not waterproof. IP 55 rated for all you geeks out there. My only gripe with the OpenFit 2+ concerns the many hoops you must jump through to get the app up and running. There is the usual registration nonsense, establish name and password, wait for the Shokz web site to send you a verification (which is all timed for some reason and if you don't do it fast enough, you have to start over). Even worse, you then have to find and punch in the long serial number (tiny type on a small card that comes with the device) before the app will work. This is really annoying and unnecessary. I wish companies stop doing this. The app is not required to setup and use the headphones but you still should make sure to download it, since that it is the only way to get firmware updates, which is required right away (pretty much the norm with any new product). The app also allows you to shape the sound with an equalizer, turn Dolby Audio on (it is off by default) , and customize how the control button works. Bottom line: If music quality and supreme comfort are important to you, you don't need to look any further than the Shokz OpenFit 2+ headphone. This is about as good as it gets in the open ear universe.

I own the first generation Open fit air and was quite impressed with fit and quality but I had not utilized consistently. They simply were too quiet for use in loud areas such as the gym. The new model is somewhat louder and can be used in a moderately loud gym. There are many upgrade from the earlier model including a better case as well as a great blue gray color. The sound quality and bass have improved as well. The grilling is more open. The over the ear hook works well and is quite comfortable on the ear. The case is more compact. There is a nice physical button on each bud and this can be programmed. There is good tactile feedback on the button which is positioned to the top not the side where it could be accidentally. There is also a programable (default is off) lateral senor which can be utilized. The app is excellent and simple and quickly found and updated the OpenFit 2s. The bluetooth chip is upgraded and the battery life is very good. A single bud can be used if in a crowded area.

These earbuds are so lightweight and comfortable that I barely even know they are there. They stay in place during my workouts and jogs without any distortion from bouncing. They do not fit down "inside" your ear canal, but instead rest on it. This really does make for a one-size-fits-all earbud. I think out of the five different earbuds I have had over the years, these are the most comfortable and best sounding ones. The sound is very clear. They are not noise-canceling, but that is not a requirement for me. I honestly can't tell that my noise-canceling earbuds I have are that much better at canceling, anyway. The Shokz app is simple and thorough. You can customize earbud button function settings as you want, and both of the earbuds have the same buttons. This allows for multiple ways to fit your preferred ease-of-use. They also have touch pads on the outside of them for Voice-Assistant connection. The app also allows for EQ customization, whether you want the preset modes or to make your own settings. The warranty is very good. I'm not sure how long the charge will last yet, but I've had multiple workout sessions without recharging the case yet. I highly recommend these earbuds to anyone looking for good, comfortable ones especially if you are active.

The Shokz OpenFit2+ are a wonderful pair of open ear earbuds. The style is nothing new, but it is a refinement. The Shokz OpenFit2+ are very lightweight and comfortable. Wearing these for a full day at work is easy to do. No discomfort at all. The open ear design really is a great idea for anyone who wants to have a great sounding pair of earbuds while still being able to hear your surroundings. I haven't had any issues with them falling off, either. They do a great job of staying in place. They feel sturdy enough considering how lightweight they are. The charging case is small and easy to keep with you. They charge the buds up reasonably fast and the battery life is great. Sound quality is probably what is most important to most and I can say that they sound great. Both music and phone calls sound clear and crisp. Also, no complaint from anyone regarding how I sound on their end. I wouldn't say they are night & day better than anything that came before them. But they have a clean sound with good bass that is clearly better than many cheaper options. If you are in the market for a great fitting pair of open ear buds that sound awesome I highly recommend the Shokz OpenFit2+.

    Awareness, Comfortability, and Wireless Charging

The Shokz Openfit 2+ offer some advantages over the previous version and I think are well worth it. They have better sound with Dolby Sound Plus and they can now be charged wirelessly in the case. They are amazing for workouts because they can be worn for long periods of time and you are still aware of your surroundings. They are also great for office work, as long as you don’t need noise cancellation. I like to be able to be listening to a meeting at work, but also be aware of people around me. For Teams and Zoom calls, the microphones work very well. I also like that they have physical buttons for controls. You can get 11 hours of listening time out of a charge, which is enough for a full work day plus a work out. Additionally the case will give you a 2 hour charge in 10 minutes, and with the case you can get 48 hours of listening time. There is a little bit of sound leakage, but people would need to be very close to you to hear it and in my test the audio wasn’t even recognizable. The 3 most important things for me - the awareness with the open design, they can be worn all day, and can charge wirelessly. A great improvement on an already great product.

I've had more earbuds than I can count but I've honestly never owned open ear earbuds so this was a new experience for me. Packaging: To start, the packaging is minimal, which is the way things are going, it also feels like it must be recycled material which is always a good thing, not much happening here, the earbuds themselves, charging case and cable. Use: They are as easy as any other bluetooth earbuds to connect to a device, so no real comments here, but where they stand out is the sound quality. I was pleasantly surprised that the sound quality was as good as it is for open ear. I suppose I always figured that the small drivers that earbuds have paired with being further away from your ear than normal earbuds would result in worse sound, I was wrong. They fit well, they sound great, and they are super easy to use. it is a different experience having them looped over your ear rather than sitting in your ear, but this could be especially useful for athletes where earbuds may fall out while running or other similar situations. It's also a different experience not feeling like you're cut off from the world, or requiring some level of passthrough audio to hear what's going on around you. I have a tendency to wear either full size headsets with one earcup off or only a single earbud because of this exact thing, so the extra situational awareness is very welcome for me. Overall: A pleasant surprise. Comfortable and excellent sound. If you're not a fan of traditional earbuds or need the extra security of the earloop then I would heartily recommend these.

The Shokz OpenFit2+ Open Ear True Wireless Earbuds are truly a one-of-a-kind experience. I am truly happy with them. They were very easy to pair. Out of the box, they took less than two hours to fully charge. Once charged, I was able to mow the lawn, which took over an hour, then I was able to have an hour long phone conversation, and the party on the other end of the phone could not even tell that I was wearing ear buds. They stated they were able to hear me very clearly. The clarity of sound is phenomenal, and the volume can get very loud for those of us who really like to make our ears bleed. While you can’t truly customize how you would like each button to work (I mean, the taps, how many does what), they are still very easy to use and setup. So far I have not had the battery run out but I only use them for a few hours at a time before I charge them again for the fear of having them die when I need them the most. The App that you download for them helps you customize your earbuds to your way of liking, for instance, many people to include myself, like the heavy bass, however, when I’m listening to my audiobooks, I’d prefer for voice isolation, and their application allows for that. Overall, I am very imprssed with these open ear buds, as I have had other open ear buds and the sound was very muffled.

These ear buds are exactly what I was looking for. As a runner in a city, I want to remain aware of some ambient sounds, but I also want to excellent sound quality when I listen to music and podcasts. The Shockz OpenFit 2+ excel in these regards. First of all, I can wear these buds all day with perfect comfort. I wear them with my glasses or without, and I don't see any difference in sound quality or comfort. Speaking of quality, these buds are outstanding! There are controls within the proprietary app that allow me to adjust the sound for various music genres. Control buttons on the devices are simple, intuitive, and programmable. My conversations on the telephone through the earbuds are perfectly clear, and people tell me that they are not aware of any extraneous noises on their end. Best of all, I can work out and run while wearing the buds without any fear of them falling out, or getting damp with perspiration due to IP55 rating. These are not for swimming, however, as they are not fully waterproof. I have found the Bluetooth connectivity to be straightforward and very stable. Overall, these earbuds present an excellent value, and I recommend them highly.

A great option for runners, cyclists, and commuters who still want to enjoy their music but also stay connected to the environment around them. Pros: Richer, clearer and louder Better low-end performance Balanced sound, ideal for mixed-use Best at moderate listening volumes Cons: Slight distortion at max volume Not as loud as in-ear headphones For everyday listening they are a great choice. They deliver a clear and full range sound perfect for a variety of different uses. However, like many open ear headphones, they do have their limits when it comes to volume and bass. I have held off the review because I wanted to test them under my normal usage including work, shopping, traveling and louder environments. I have used open earbuds before and was dissatisfied. The enhancements they made makes a huge difference. These are pretty incredible for sitting outside the ear and much better than any others including their own previous model. Love the physical controls. Why doesn't everyone do this. I use mine primarily for podcasts but again music sounds great also especially with the dolby sound on.

This pair of Shockz earbuds comes in a package that makes you think of expensive high-line devices. Inside is a compact case for storing and charging the ear pieces as well as a charging cable and instructions. The Shockz phone app walks you through the install and Bluetooth pairing, and you are ready to use them in a few minutes. These are the style of earbuds with a semi circular "hook" of sorts that goes behind your ear, making the positioning of them easy and keeping them securely on your ears. Very easy and very comfortable. Of course there is a microphone built in so you can use them for phone calls. I was blown away by how good these ear buds sound. Without even any equalizer tweaks there was decent bass and mid-range off the bat, very unusual for "bud" style phones. I am the kind that has to have bass, and these do pretty well for ear buds in this price range. The stereo separation is fantastic, especially when I tested them watching baby AI videos. An audio track from a popular early 90's movie played and I could hear the cars driving back and forth like I was on the set of the movie. Great sound quality.

Comfort and Clarity Without the Compromise

Initial Thoughts The OpenFit2+ are a huge step forward from traditional in-ear or on-ear headphones. The number one win for me is comfort. I deal with serious ear fatigue from in-ear buds, and on-ear models tend to feel hot and tight. These don’t do either. They’re so lightweight and natural-feeling that I often forget I’m even wearing them. Open-Ear = Awareness and Comfort Another huge plus is how they keep you aware of your surroundings. These don’t block off your ears, so I can still hear what’s happening around me (cars, people, conversations) without needing to take them off or toggle settings. I don’t often need noise cancellation, so this open design is the perfect solution for daily use, outdoor walks, and work-from-home calls. Sound Quality and Audio Features The sound took a little getting used to, especially coming from Pixel Buds. At first, the sound was just “okay,” but once I tuned the EQ in the app, things improved a lot. The Dolby Spatial Audio is a cool feature, but I actually prefer it off for music. It seems to expand the soundstage too much, and I found the mix more enjoyable without it. For movies or immersive audio, it’s excellent. Here’s what sets these apart technically: * Dual-driver setup: a dedicated high-frequency driver and a 17.3mm low-frequency driver. * Crisp highs and clean bass with less distortion than most small-format earbuds. * Frequency range: 50Hz to 40kHz, sensitivity at 96.5dB. * Even at half volume they sound full, and at max volume they’re surprisingly loud. Battery and Charging Battery life is excellent. You get 11 hours from the earbuds themselves and 48 more from the case. A 10-minute charge gives you about 2 hours of playback. The case supports wireless charging, so it’s easy to top off with a charging pad. Fit and Feel Comfort is top-tier. There’s no in-ear pressure, and they don’t grip or pull at your ear. They rest just outside the ear canal, more like tiny speakers that sit right next to your ear opening. The silicone ear hook has a nickel-titanium core that keeps it flexible but firm. It holds its shape even after you twist or bend it, and it never feels heavy or irritating. Features and App Integration * Multi-point Bluetooth pairing: connect to two devices at once (great for phone + PC setups). * The app gives full EQ control, button remapping, and a “find my device” feature. * IP55 rating for water and dust resistance: fine for sweat and rain, just don’t go swimming with them. Final Verdict Most headphones in the sport or fitness category don’t get anywhere close to this level of comfort or sound quality. Shokz really broke the mold with the OpenFit2+. I highly recommend them, even if you have no plans to work out with them. These are the most comfortable, easy to wear earbuds I’ve used, and they sound great too!
