High End Earbuds with a Twist!

THIS… Is the Shokz OpenFit 2, Shokz second generation of bud less, sport earbuds and honestly one of the most unique ‘earbuds’ I have ever tried on. Shokz makes some very unique headphone / audio products, so I knew I was in for a treat when I saw these. Ok, so what is so nifty about the OpenFit 2’s that any other earbuds aren’t? These earbuds do not enter your ear canal! These earbuds slip semi onto your ear canal / next to your tragus and shoot the sound down your ear canal to deliver sound… and it is pretty good at it! Ok so starting chronologically, opening these are just like any other earbuds until you take the case out…and this might be the lightest/slimmest case I have ever held. The case was small enough that it could fit into all of my running shorts/pants and light enough that I never noticed it was even there. The case, while still holding a good charge for the earbuds, was virtually unnoticeable in my runs or lifts which is fantastic to not have to feel the case pressed into my leg on a run. Once you take the earbuds out of the case, though, I only had one question… How the heck do I wear these? Where does the sound come from? And how do these even stay in your ear? It is super simple, you the straps / prongs slip over your ears tightly and you simply hold the earbud onto your ear/tragus area while it shoots audio down your ear canal. Now his is where my only setup problem occurred. For my wife and I, it felt like the earbud was going to perpetually fall out of our ear for the first little while since it doesn’t anchor into your ear canal. After a bit (an hour or so), it got better and eventually that sensation did go away permanently with time. What is awesome about the OpenFit 2’s is that they really feel secure during workouts, runs and in day to day life whereas my other in ear earbuds would either fall out or feel like they are about to fall out during my lifts and certainly during my runs. You also don’t have to fiddle with the earbuds tip size and the inevitable wax goblin that they create, which is always a nice +1! The OpenFit 2’s have quickly wedged themselves as my go to for workouts and running due to just how secure they feel. I think that the Shokz OpenFit 2’s are also fantastic for those that do not have normal ear canals, my brother has abnormally small ones and he really enjoyed the idea of not having to order a custom set for his earbuds to fit right. So although these are generally meant for sport, I really like the physical design and find that it makes earbuds more accessible for those with alternative anatomy that makes hearing difficult, and for those like my wife who hate the tipped earbuds. Something else that I really enjoyed about the ergonomics of the OpenFit 2, was that I was able to wear these while laying my head on a cushion or in bed without having to feel the bud press deeper into my ear. Now that we have covered all of the groundwork here… how do they sound? Well, the short answer is pretty good! Something I wanted to touch on first was just how interesting / unique the OpenShock 2’s sound… as they aren’t firing the sound directly into your ear but more ‘bouncing’ sound into your ears. This gives a really pleasant concert-esque sound that really just has to be tried to understand. It almost makes the music / podcast / video sound like it is actually coming from a larger speaker. Obviously, the counter to not having a physical bud that goes into your ear, there is no noise canceling. Passive or active, there is really no external sound dampening. That being said, erroneous sounds are only as bad as your environment, but there is no stopping them if they do exist outside of turning up the OpenFit 2’s. When you turn the volume up on these earbuds, apart from being not as loud as traditional earbuds, the OpenFit 2’s still retains a crip sound everywhere except bass. I am not sure if it is the lack of isolation, the way the sound has to enter the ear or the speaker drivers, but bass just doesn’t have that same thump as a true in ear earbud. Something interesting though, is that the thud of bass still thuds through the prongs/straps (whatever the technical term is) that wrap around your ears. I didn’t find the bass to be so lacking that it was a deal breaker… but something I certainly was able to notice as the volume was turned up. I really did love these when I was interacting with other people though, as it was so easy to hear my music and talk to someone at the same time without having to fiddle with my phone or my earbuds to turn the sound down or off. The OpenFit 2’s also have a physical play/pause button which is always a huge +1. The OpenFit 2’s do pretty well in most applications, but I found them to really excel when I was running as I didn’t hear myself breathing as much due to the lack of physical noise isolation. To wrap this up, I really can’t think of any complaints to bring forward! Battery life is so good that I don’t even think about it and I have dropped these enough to know if they were going to fall apart (team butterfingers). I think that I need to clarify a few things real quick though. Are these the best sounding earbuds? No, but they really don’t have to be. These are sport earbuds, and they are genuinely the best ‘sport’ or ‘athletic’ earbuds that I have ever used. The design of them is unique and takes some getting used to, but I have never had an earbud feel so secure on my ear while being active like these earbuds. Regardless, if it is casual listening around the house, or on a run, I found that the unique ergonomics really outweighed some of the downfalls regarding the lack of bass, but that's why I urge you to try the OpenFit 2’s and also what makes Best Buy awesome. You never have to worry about buying earbuds that you don’t like or that don't mesh with your flow! So there is no harm in testing if the Shokz OpenFit 2 is right for you. Until next time :)

Hi there- Shokz here. Thank you so much for the great review! We highly recommend ensuring that the latest firmware version via the Shokz app for the best experience with your OpenFit 2 :) There is also a phone setting that may resolve the low volume issue. -On the iPhone, go to Settings > Sound & Haptics > Headphone Safety, make sure that the Reduce Loud Audio Feature is switched off as this will affect the volume of the headphone. -On an Android, go to the Bluetooth Settings on the phone, find the headphone and make sure that the Absolute Volume feature is switched on for it. A Balance of Sound, Comfort, and Awareness

A breakthrough addition to the market of open-ear headphones are the Shokz OpenFit 2 earbuds. They offer a unique mix of awareness of the surroundings, comfort, and musical quality. Designed for consumers who want to stay in touch to their surroundings while enjoying audio during their listening session, these earbuds offer a mesmerizing experience with very few concessions. The OpenFit 2 earbuds have a design that is open-ear, lightweight, and equipped with flexible ear hooks that offer a secure and pleasant fit. The fact that they weigh only about 9 grams and are ergonomically designed to lay outside the ear canal without generating pressure or fatigue makes them an excellent choice for being worn for an extended period of time. For best comfort, however, additional modifications could be required for individuals who wear spectacles or have ears that are smaller. Once you get them correctly placed, you will forget you are wearing them as they are so light and discreet. Shokz's DirectPitch technology marks a significant advance over their bone-conduction forebears in that it can generate clearly balanced sound.. In spite of the fact that the open-ear design results in a bass response that is not as deep as that of conventional in-ear headphones, the sound profile is nevertheless warm and completely genuine. These earphones are great for listening to music, podcasts, and audiobooks because the vocals and instruments sound very clear. The open-ear design, on the other hand, has the intrinsic disadvantage of limiting bass performance and soundstage immersion when compared to closed earbuds or headphones that cover the entire ear. Even in extremely silent surroundings, there is a slight but detectable amount of noise leakage. Features that are included in the OpenFit 2 earbuds are as follows: DualBoost Technology, which improves the dynamic audio performance of the device. Lifespan of the Battery Up to forty-eight hours while using the charging case and having the capacity to charge quickly. Multi-device pairing is made possible with Bluetooth 5.4, which guarantees consistent connectivity. Buttons that are physical Ensure that playback and calls may be easily controlled. A.I.-Powered Calling System The use of noise-cancelling microphones helps to improve the clarity of calls. Resistance to Water, IP55 Type For usage outside, it offers protection against perspiration and light rain. Their versatility allows them to be used in a variety of contexts where situational awareness is important, such as jogging, trekking, or working in surroundings, the OpenFit 2 performs exceptionally well under pressure. These earbuds allow you to hear ambient sounds without sacrificing the quality of the music, which is useful whether you are jogging on busy streets or working in an office where you need to be aware to discussions on the other side of the room. They are also extremely portable and come with a charging case that is both strong and durable. However, due to the fact that they occasionally move or make noise from the wind, they might not be the best choice for high-impact activities such as intensive workouts or cycling at fast speeds. With that being said, Exceptional situational awareness, a balanced sound quality with EQ that can be customized, and a design that is both comfortable and lightweight, Long battery life combined with a rapid recharge time A sturdy construction that is resistant to water are all advantages. Cons: - The bass performance is limited, The fit may require adjustments for some users, There is a possibility of wind noise during activities that take place outside. Those individuals who place a higher value on comfort, situational awareness, and reasonable audio quality than they do on deep bass or immersive soundstage may find the Shokz OpenFit 2 earbuds to be an excellent opportunity. They are particularly useful in environments that need a strong connection to one's surroundings or in lifestyles that are physically demanding. Although they might not be able to take the place of high-end audiophile headphones or noise-cancelling versions for usage in the office for an entire day, they do provide a one-of-a-kind solution for certain requirements. Shokz continues to push the boundaries of open-ear audio technology with their forward-thinking designs and functionalities that require careful consideration.

Full of Untapped & Untappable Potential

TLDR: Secure fit with open, clear sound. But, without a functioning app, hard to tell what their true potential is. USE The OpenFit2’s are very comfortable and fit securely. The Shokz’s are my most secure feeling earbuds to date. Buyers don’t have to spend the time fitting and interchanging tips trying to get the best, most comfortable and secure fit. The Fit2’s slide over the top of your ear and once adjusted, rest over the outside of the ear. The springy, rubbery “hook” provides just enough tension on the earbuds to be secure without feeling uncomfortable. The Fit2’s are the most comfortable and secure feeling earbuds I’ve owned to date. Because the Fit2’s fit over the ear and not into the ear canal, they are extremely comfortable to use for long periods of time. There were times I forgot that I had them on. Shokz claims “all day comfort” and I believe them. Because they OpenFit2’s rest on your ear, all that comfort is a double-edged sword. As comfortable and secure as I find them to be, the OpenFit2’s don’t have any form of noise cancellation (at least not yet from what I can tell). They allow ambient sound to come through unadulterated. That is where the double-edged sword comes in. Buyers are unable to isolate themselves from the world around them, if that is your thing. Again, double-edged. Great for outdoor activities in that you can still hear potential threats or problems, but not great if you want to tune out the rest of the world while wearing them around the office. NEGATIVES As these are a newly released product, the Shokz app does not yet work with the OpenFit2, whether it be on Android or iOS. Because of this, I am unable give a concise evaluation of the OpenFit2. There is no way to customize the EQ, no way to update firmware, etc. I think the OpenFit2’s have more to offer, but the lack of app support leaves a lot on the table and a great deal of untapped potential. Shokz has promised full app compatibility by the release date. Phone calls too, are a mixed bag. Callers have commented on the clarity of speech, but I can’t necessarily say the same for their voices. Voices are clear, but because the Shokz don’t fully isolate the ear canal, I find breezes easily disrupt the clarity of the call. I’m sure that the OpenFit2’s will have some form of noise cancellation tech built-in, but I can’t tell for sure as the app does not work and as of now it is just raw audio, based on my usage. Lastly, Shokz still relies on an old-fashioned warranty card. Lose the included warranty piece of paper and you lose your ability to utilize the manufacturer’s warranty if something were to happen. The app does not tie your earbuds to your account and that account to your warranty. You can’t register your earbuds and activate the manufacturer’s warranty within the app. ALL the other competitors do it better. CONCLUSIONS Battery life has been very good. I have gotten more than 5 hours on a charge with some to spare. A quick 5 minutes in the charger will give you up to an hour of playback, with up to 28 hours of playback with a fully charged case. The Fit2’s are IP54 rated against sweat and moisture, ensuring a good workout won’t damage them. Shokz makes bold claims in their materials about extreme bass, exceptional clarity, etc., but without a properly functioning app, those claims are impossible to test. Yes, the Shokz have paired without issue to my iPad and my Galaxy phone, but there are no customization options available. I can’t monitor charge levels, customize call parameters, or adjust playback EQ’s. Because of this, the OpenFit2’s are merely average. Yes, they have extremely clear audio in the mid-range, however that audio quality falls off drastically in the lows and highs. I know this is mostly contributed to relying solely on the overly compressed Bluetooth protocol. Honestly, in many ways they fall short of the competition. The lossy Bluetooth audio sounds mediocre and without a fully functioning app, I have found no way to test if they support LDAC or AptX. My Galaxy certainly shows they do not at this point. Maybe a firmware update will change that. Raw, Bluetooth music from either my iPad or Galaxy sounds just blah and uninspiring. While call quality is great in most environments, call quality quickly deteriorates with the slightest bit of breeze. I don’t know if it is because I can’t turn on noise cancellation or that they don’t fully cover the ear, letting wind around the device. Either way, a breeze can render calls nearly unintelligible. My opinion may change when the product is officially released and the app is updated, but as of now, I unfortunately must give it a NOT RECOMMENDED rating. There are just too many questions left unanswered at this point to give the OpenFit2’s any other rating. NOT RECOMMENDED

Due to the nature of my ear structure, I cannot use traditional earbuds very effectively. No matter what brand, I've always had difficulty getting them to stay in my ears. Additionally, I've never been a fan of traditional designs because it reduces your ability to hear what's going on around you. For those reasons I've been a fan of the Shokz earbuds and headphones for years. Having tried A LOT of different brands and styles, nothing has come even remotely close to these for me. There is a ton to love about these. They are very light, very comfortable, sound reproduction is incredible, battery life is outstanding, the controls are easy to learn and use and the overall quality of these is top tier. I found myself wearing these comfortably for 4+ hours and they never fatigued my ears like traditional earbuds. I can't even explain how nice it is to not have to take out an earbud to hear someone talking to you. Setup is incredibly easy taking mere seconds on my phone. The sound reproduction is fantastic. If there's one thing that I've always felt was lacking with Shokz traditional bone conductive headphones, it's that bass was lacking and, overall, they don't get loud enough to drown out the outside world if it's loud. You can absolutely forget about those two issues with these. They are LOUD and the sound reproduction across the range is very, very good. Bass is probably still not quite on par with a traditional earbud, but I'd much rather give up that for the spatial awareness and comfort factor. The case and earbuds are by far my favorite form factor I've ever used. The earbuds lay flat in the case which makes the case itself very compact unlike other extremely bulky cases from other brands. The case is also very light so you can carry these around without them being a burden or taking up a ton of space. The battery life is incredible on these. I used them for an entire day (well over 14 hours) without them running out of battery. I wasn't using them the whole time, but I was using them fairly frequently for podcasts and some videos and a few calls and they just ran all day. It would be hard for me to overstate how much I like these. Now that I know these are an option, I will probably never go back to a traditional earbud ever again. Buy these! You absolutely WILL NOT regret it!

Having owned 3 different open style earbuds from top companies like Bose, Sony etc, these Shokz OpenFit 2 blows them all out of the water. Comfort, style and most of all, sound quality is excellent. Inside the box comes the carrying case with the buds, a USB C charging cable (you need to supply your own charger) and some paperwork. I plugged in my buds to charge before first use and took about 25 min before the light changed from orange to green. Pairing was as simple as can be. The first time you open the case, the inside light will flash indicating they are in pairing mode and ready to sync. I just opened my phone's Bluetooth settings and paired them instantly. Nothing else required. Comfort was spot on. They go around your ear lobe and since they are lightweight, there is no discomfort at all. The "speaker" is held in place by not only your ear itself but also the area right above the canal so it will blast whatever your listening to toward it. Normally with open ear buds, you can hear everything around you along with music but at the cost of bass quality to me. When I started playing my playlist and heard my tracks the 1st thing I did was literally scream, Yooooooooooo!. Highs and mids were fine but I was so surprised that BASS was actually really good and did NOT make my music sound flat at all. Sometimes I forgot I wasn't wearing in-ear buds they sounded so good. My co-worker told me she could hear my music at around 50%+ volume but not lower sitting roughly 7ft away. These are so great that I can not only hear my music and not disturb my coworkers but also still hearing everything happening around me. Phone calls were great as well. No complaints on either end when speaking or listening. Battery life has been excellent. I know that in an 8 hour shift with 1 hour letting these charge during lunch, they will last the whole workday. Charging is quick as well. If you need open ear style buds and to not rely on passthrough from closed buds, these are most definitely recommended.

I use wireless earphones more than almost any other device I own since I wear and use them all day at work as a delivery driver. As such, I have over the years landed on several preferences. Unfortunately, nothing I have ever used quite checks off all the boxes I would prefer, and they usually trade blows with each other. I have spent the last two years using AirPods Pro and transitioned to trying out the new Shokz OpenFit 2 for the past week. They have a different use case compared to the AirPods even though they are both types of fully wireless earbuds. I have used older Shokz earphones before, back when they were called AfterShokz. They have always had strengths in battery life and comfort, but usually lacked in sound quality and microphone quality. All those points remain relatively unchanged even now. The OpenFit 2 have exceptional battery life, which make them fantastic for my 8-10 hour work days. I have used them during long 10+ hour peak season days, and they never gave me any indication that the batteries were getting low after that long of a time. As a result, I don’t have any idea how long they would last without a charge in the case, but all day long plus some is the answer at the moment and that is great. The case is lightweight and doesn’t take up more space than necessary, barely bigger than the AirPods case but weighs less. The case can recharge the Shokz enough for another 48 hours of battery life according to the manual, and itself is charged via a USB-C connection, no wireless charging unfortunately. In other words, battery life is king for these. Comfort is another important function of my earphones as I use them for extended periods of time daily. I wear glasses and that has caused issues in the past with long term comfort for over the ear types of earbuds such as previous Shokz I have owned, but they have resolved that problem with a very slim wire and enough flexibility to keep out of the way of my glasses. Sound quality is very good, but they are different than older Shokz as these are not the Bone Conduction design I have experienced before. They are conventional speakers that hover right over my ear canal. I do feel like this reduces the sound quality somewhat and makes it easier for them to get drowned out by outside noises of which there are many in my delivery truck. Each side has a touch sensitive pad that can be used to access the voice assistant of your choice, and one small multifunction button on the top side for pausing, playing, skipping tracks, answering or ending calls, and more. The small button works well, and the ear bud provides an additional sound effect to make it clear the button was pressed correctly. The Microphone is the biggest drawback for these as it has no noise cancellation and makes it much more difficult for others to hear me when I am running my delivery route. The open ear style also makes it difficult for me to hear a call if things get extra loud such as when I am driving at high speeds. For listening to tunes or podcasts, they do very well, and I have no complaints. I think this type of ear bud has a distinct advantage if you need to be able to clearly hear everything around you while also listening to something while you work or exercise. They certainly won’t be for everyone, but the battery life makes a real serious argument for their usefulness as well. I like them a lot, but I have mixed feelings about whether they can truly replace my trusty AirPods.

Amazing Earbuds For Specific Use Cases!

If you're someone who gets sore ears from earbuds or needs to stay aware of your surroundings while still enjoying your music, the Shokz OpenFit 2 is a solid choice. These are open-ear headphones, so they don’t seal you off from the world. That means no noise cancellation here, but I guess that's the trade-off! For something that doesn’t actually sit inside your ear, the sound quality is pretty impressive. I’m not much into bass-heavy genres like hip-hop, but I found the bass really good. What really stood out to me was the clarity of vocals and how easy it was to pick out individual instruments. It’s rare to find good bass without it drowning out the details, and Shokz seems to have nailed that balance. That said, the midrange can feel a bit thin. There’s not a ton of richness to the sound, so if you’re an audiophile looking for warm, lush tones, these might not be your go-to. But for the use case—staying aware of your surroundings while enjoying music—they’re excellent. These have been great for the office. I can listen to music but still hear coworkers chatting in the cubicle next to me—perfect if they’re gossiping about me! On the flip side, these aren’t the headphones I’d grab for mowing the lawn or sitting on a noisy plane, since they won’t block out background sounds. One surprising bonus? I’ve started wearing one earbud to bed. With the open-ear design, I can listen to something soothing like Calm without waking up with the ear pain I usually get from traditional earbuds. Plus, my wife gets to enjoy her 145th re-watch of Harry Potter without us battling over volume levels. The Shokz OpenFit 2 isn’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for a comfortable, open-ear option with impressive sound quality (considering the design), they’re worth a try. Just know their limits—these aren’t for blocking out the world, but they excel at keeping you comfortable and aware in your surroundings.

These Shokz earbuds truly live up to their name, as I’m shocked at how incredible they are. As someone deeply invested in earbuds, I hadn’t heard of this brand before and initially set my expectations low. However, they’ve far exceeded any skepticism I had. I’ve previously used a well-known brand of open-fit earbuds that I absolutely loved. But since getting these Shokz, I haven’t looked back. Their design is clever, they wrap around the ear with the speakers resting just above the ear canal and directing sound inward. This design ensures they stay firmly in place while keeping an open-ear feel. The sound quality is exceptional, rivaling or even surpassing my other earbuds. The bass and treble are well balanced, and the clarity is amazing. The open design also eliminates ear fatigue, even after hours of use. They’re so comfortable that it’s easy to forget you’re wearing them. The Bluetooth connectivity is fantastic. These earbuds connect faster than any device I’ve ever used. By the time I take them out of the case and bring them to my ears, they’re already paired with my phone. The earbuds can be placed into the charging case in any order, thanks to the smart crossover design. One of the biggest surprises is the microphone quality. Everyone I’ve talked to on the phone reports my voice comes through loud and clear. However, these do pick up a fair amount of background noise, so they’re not ideal for calls in busy environments. My other open ear buds are virtually useless when talking on the phone. The only minor drawback is the size of the carrying case. While still compact, it’s larger than expected and not particularly pocket-friendly. In summary, I couldn’t be more pleased with these earbuds. They’ve become my new go-to buds, and I highly recommend them.

I had the first gen and really loved them. Here's my view on the first gen: Of course with any product there's some downsides there was the short battery life, sound was decent but overall was improved with the EQ options. For some reason I couldn't get it to pair with my computer ever even if I deleted all my connected devices to the earbuds. The Gen 2 gives you so much more battery life, physical buttons, instant connectivity to my computer now lol they sound better You still need to EQ them but that's not difficult, volume and overall loudness is NOT an issue with these OR The first gen. For people that hate having earbuds in their ears and worry about them falling out these are the perfect solution, they don't fall out because they don't go in the ear canal, If you hate the fatigue of having earbuds in your ear canal and getting warm sweaty kind of itchy from the silicone or rubber tips or the pressure, these are for you! And I can't wait to see in a year or so what the third generation improves upon. For what they are they sound pretty incredible for the volume you get out of these incredible as well. Battery life is great and much appreciated. I do not even charge my powerbeat pros anymore or use them. These are my go to earbuds for everything Will they be the best sounding for music? No, but for me personally they're more than passable for working out. I use earbuds a lot for phone calls and when I'm listening to podcasts while working out if I'm not listening to music and it's just really great being able to hear yourself talk and not feel like you're in a tunnel. I know a lot of companies are including microphones that pick up your voice and mix it in with the earbuds during calls so it feels more natural and they do a decent job, but these take away the need for any of that. I seriously will recommend this product to just about anyone that fits the criteria that I've mentioned I use them for.

These earbuds are great. The buds go around the ear and the actual bud does not go in your ear. The earbuds feel secure and would not fall out while working out or going for a run. The setup was easy via Bluetooth on my phone. As for the sound, its loud enough but lacks a little on bass. The sound is still crisp and clear. Manufacturer states the battery can last upto 48 hours in one full charge. Charging is easy and fast with the usb-c charging port. Cable is included. The earbuds come with a case that's small and convenient. The earbuds have a one button system where you can press once to play and pause. Press multiple times to skip and replay. Since these earbuds are open ear, they do not have the ability to cancel out surrounding noise. These earbuds were designed that way for "situational awareness". I personally like that feature, noise cancellation can be scary. Overall, I would recommend them to anyone who likes to workout or like to run. These earbuds feel secure around the ears and are easy to use.

Some people collect watches and like to wear different ones on different days... and I'm about at that point with headphones and earbuds. Is it a problem? Depends on how you look at it. The way I see it is that no matter the occasion for things to pump sound to my ears I will always have the right choice on hand. Enter these very interesting earbuds from Shokz. Heck, I dont' eve know if I should call them earbuds because they don't actually go *in* your ear. They go on it. (But not the way you're used to.) And they go kinda in it, yes. (But also not the way you're used to.) If you're reading this, I'll assume you've seen the pictures but if not that's the best way to understand exactly what they are. The question now is: why would you buy these over something more traditional? Well, the easy answer to that one is comfort. You get none of the pressure in your ear canal from buds and none of the pressure on your head and cartilege from traditional headphones. I've never tried bone conduction phones, but I've used the Meta RayBans and a Meta Quest and maybe there's a comparison there, in that these kind of just position the sound to your ears without blocking any other sounds from coming in. (Which I'll get to shortly). What's kind of nice though is that you could have these on and most people would probably not even notice there's anything different about them just based on look. They're definitely more visibly similar to earbuds than say bone conduction headphones. They wrap around the ear itself and then the speakers kind of hover over the ear canal - and it's lovely. You can still feel air on your ears while wearing them. You can still hear other sounds, which has obvious benefits to anyone who runs or bikes in areas with car traffic. Or maybe you just want to be able to hear anyone who might talk to you while you're grocery shopping. Or you want a lightweight option for long work phone calls. If you think you *might* have a use case for this type of device, then you probably won't be disappointed. They do what they advertise! The part that touches the ear is soft and flexible. You could easily wear these for hours and not be fatigued! And they sound good, so you'll want to! Very clear for podcasts and music. Maybe not the most bass heavy thing you've ever heard, but are you buying these for that?? There are tactile control buttons on the side for play/pause, etc. and they work great. There's no fumbling around with touch sensitivity. Phone calll quality got a thumbs up (though not as clear as the Meta RayBans) and yeah - they're just really pleasant to use for 80% of what I want to listen to them. The only real knock here is that *because* they are so unique... it's taking some time to get used to them. Even just the fact that they're sort of over your ear, but not meant to go inside of them - I can't tell you how many times I've already instinctively tried to push them in further than I need to. Or try to get them to fit in a more snug manner. The other obvious downside is that noise cancellation obviously is not really in the cards here and, yeah, sometimes I just find myself forgetting about that and will try to do things like vacuum then suddenly wonder why I can't hear what I'm listening to. So those are the trade offs. You get a nice sturdy case with charging built in and some really solid, unique headbuds (?) for a pretty decent price. Again, if you think you might like them the best way to know is to just try them. I'd love to see the sound quality get even better with the next iteration, but for now I'm pretty pleased overall.

So far I have really been enjoying my new Shokz OpenFit 2 wireless earbuds. There are several things i like about them, and only a few things i don't like. First and foremost, the sound on these earbuds are very good. Once connected, i adjusted the sound via my phones equalizer and feel that i am getting an extremely high quality sound out of them. You can really hear every detail on high quality audio tracks. Overall, sound quality is extremely good. The open air feature of these earbuds also work extremely well. These so not go in your ears, they basically rest on the outside of your ear while held in place with a loop over your ear. This allows you to hear all ambient sound around you. This is an alternative to noise canceling earbuds with a passive "feed through" technology. This is way better in my opinion. I watch sports games on my phone while still being "present" with my family. They have made a huge difference in my daily routine, and i can honestly say i have used then every day. Each earbud has a physical button which controls the play/ pause functions, skip, etc. I like physical buttons over touch controls as it prevents accidental commands. My biggest gripe has to do with the charging case. The shape of the earbuds make them a little difficult to get in and out of the case. They are a little harder to remove actually, as the magnetic snap helps dock them. And a huge issue i have is the lack of wireless charging. I still to this day do not understand how a premium earbuds do not have a wireless charging case. Plus the case is big enough where i don't see how it could have been an issue. It fits perfectly on my new charging stand, but no, it still has to be plugged in via USB type c. Overall I thoroughly enjoy using my new Shokz every day. Most times i don't even remember i am wearing them. When i play a video on my phone I am pleasantly surprised to find i am wearing them and am treated to pleasant sound while still hearing the lovely conversation of my family.

Theres so much to like and no real dislikes. The sound quality is unreal. And when comparing it to similar products. This might be the best out there for 2 reasons. The buds are over your ear hole not in it. Meaning you can still hear everything around you if the volume is low enough - great for the workplace imo. And 2 the battery life is much better than all other comparable brands. Also, its wonderfully priced - less than other big brands , but worth so much more. I live and breathe electronics, especially when it comes to sound. Ive tried so many brands out but this is my favorite. Great for working out. For reference i practice MMA. And move all parts of my body, in multiple directions and rapidly. And although I do feel the small shift of the headphones over my ear, they always stay in place. Even during jumping rope and running. A MUST TRY!

I had the original OpenFits and used them almost daily, often for several hours a day. I loved them, but had three primary frustrations that the OpenFit 2s have resolved: The 2s are louder, allowing them to be used more when there's more ambient noise. The battery is phenomenally better, both for the buds and the case. It's made a huge difference in practical day-to-day use. The multi-point pairing is much more stable and properly working. The feature on the 1s was finicky, and if I was using them on a virtual call on my computer and my phone rang, they would completely disconnect from the computer, even if I didn't accept the call. I would have to toggle bluetooth on the computer to get them to reconnect. Really not ideal. They will primarily connect to the phone when ringing, but fully reconnect on their own to the computer. So overall, I'm satisfied. They are quite comfortable though I don't notice much difference compared to the 1s. I don't end up using the controls much, so the physical buttons are not a make-or-break for me, but they do allow for more control on the buds, which is nice. In the end, these have been worthwhile upgrade from the first version.

Great product! These are very light, they fit perfectly around my ear, the sound quality is great, I have not had any complaints from individuals while on a voice call. The app was easy to download, the settings was easy to maneuver through and the volume is pretty decent considering these don't go directly in your ear. I always have to remind everyone that these are not noise canceling headphones (when they're on my ear, they don't cancel out any noises around me) I can still hear everything!!! If you cannot focus with a lot of noise, these are not for you. As an adult, who has had an ear infection these are perfect. I don't want anything directly in my ear, I'm trying to avoid moisture, especially with me being extremely active. I also think this is a safer design to use in the vehicle while driving so you can still hear everything going on around you. You do have to be careful. I've had the right one fall out of my ear a few times and it's a matte black so once it falls, you need to pick it up immediately or you can lose it. Unlike Apple, the setting does not tell you your last location and you cannot put the headphones in lost mode however, if it still has battery life and you're within a certain range, you can play a sound from the app and it will play on your earplugs so you can find it. I am happy with my purchase. I have purchased every one of their headphones. I have all of them and I love them.

The best earbuds! Very comfortable to wear, actually don't feel you have them on. Can hear around you and when talking on the phone , communication is clear, great sound even with music, listening music to a radio app. It easy to use. Great battery life, actually starting using it this past weekend off and on through the week when needed and still have not even have to charge it yet.

The Shokz Openfit 2 earbuds offer a unique concept of open ear design earbuds that allow you to jam to your beats while being aware of your surroundings. While this is a great idea, it does come with some drawbacks. This was my first time trying out earbuds with the open concept design and I was impressed at first with the design and how comfortable they were to wear and how well they stayed on but kind of disappointed once I powered them on. Well, let’s go over what the new Shokz Openfit 2 has to offer. The first thing I want to go over is how comfortable these earbuds are. They honestly feel like you are not wearing any at all and are great for extended wear, no more pressure and heat build-up in your ears. These are great for wearing while you’re working out and don’t have to worry about the ear buds falling out. These ear buds essentially fit over and around the back of your ear while the speaker rests above your ear canal. Now, let’s go over where the Shokz Openfit 2 are lacking and that is the sound quality. While the open ear design is comfortable and allows for situational awareness, the sound quality is compromised. Firstly, there is significant sound leakage, meaning pretty much everyone around me can hear what I am listening to if I have the volume turned up all the way. Secondly, the audio quality is quite lacking. Everything you listen to just sounds flat; the overall audio experience is my experience subpar. Now there may be an option to adjust the equalizers in the app once you are able to connect the earbuds to the application, but not sure how much of a difference they would make. I was not able to connect the earbuds to the Shokz application at the time I tested out the earbuds. Lastly, the battery life. While I was not able to find the specs for the Openfit 2 anywhere online, I did find that that Openfit offer around 7 hours of battery life, and I would assume that these earbuds would offer somewhere around the same area. I had these on for about a few hours at a time while completing my daily tasks and taking phone calls, I did not run into any battery issues. Overall, The Shoks Openfit 2 are comfortable pair of earbuds and allowing for situational awareness but due to the sound quality and leakage , I would not be able to recommend these to anyone.

This would be my 3rd Shokz product and love them .. they sound amazing for not being in your ear and can’t get over how well they fit. Very comfortable even after 5-8 miles of running.. tried Bose and other brands and these are leading the pack in my opinion..Thank you

My wife has issues with fit with inear buds so this is a great option. Very comfortable, super sound, nice case and secure. I was surprised how good they sound. Great for walks, gym, etc where you dont need full over larger headphones like for the airplanes. Recommend

By far one of the best earphones I’ve used in a while, it’s like putting tiny speakers to your ears. Beautiful sound and for open ears not a lot of sound leak which can happen with any type of earbuds/head phones. Also surprisingly good bass . I’ve fallen asleep in mine and it was still very comfortable.
