Great sound quality especially after you download the app. You still use your stream apps as normal. The app just helps modify your listing experience. My husband has a very large head and big ears so they are perfect for him and fit comfortably. He loves them except he cant use them while at work because of having to where earplugs and you can't hear a any sound from the earbuds so he is just sticking with his bone conduction ones. ME, one the other hand. I bought these because in ear ones Irritate me and my ears and ive also had a sizer come off one of them and get stuck in my ear before. I was excited to buy these but turns out they are not made for small size heads and ears. No way of adjusting, they actually hurt part of my ears, they feel like they will just fall off, you have to be sure you have no hair anywhere underneath them, the buttons are super sensitive if your hair is damp or if you have to raise your arrms above your head so you have to constantly unpause your music (if you can find the buttons). I will definitely be returning these and hopefully find something that fits. Unfortunately even the bone conduction minis doesn't even fit. Those would work perfect if you could adjust the band to be smaller. Hope this helps someone with a small head like mine. Wish they made ones for kids in this brand cause we really like the sound quality and the app. Works great for normal to large heads.

Lightweight Open Earbuds With Good Quality Audio

I happy was happy to see Shokz has another offering in their line of open ear headphones and earbuds. The OpenFit Air True Wireless Earbuds, like the rest of their line, help to hear what is around you while also hearing music, audio books, etc. I like this style when I'm out jogging, walking, and bike riding along roads. It allows me to hear cars approaching me. I was using the Shokz OpenMove which work ok, but the bass isn't there with those, so I don't get the rich audio that prefer. DirectPitch technology, in my experience, tends to sound better than bone conducting technology. It offers a richer sound, so I was really happy to see Shokz coming out with a new set of earbuds that use that technology. Appearance And Fit The OpenFit Air are small and lightweight. They fit well on my ears and even after hours of listening to audio I hardly notice that I have them on. They look good and it's easy to find the part of the earbuds that contain touch sensitive buttons. I used these while out jogging, walking, and mountain biking. During those activities, I never had an instance of the earbuds falling off or shifting position even when sweating in high temperature and high humidity situations. It was also easy for me to reach up and touch the earbuds to pause/play audio. Audio Quality Audio quality from these are really good. There is plenty of treble and enough bass to provide a rich clear audio experience. The bass, even with the EQ set to Bass Boost, isn't heavy bass. In other words, the bass isn't punchy, but it is good such that the audio from audio books and general music is really good. The Bass Boost setting for the EQ only seems to reduce treble instead of increasing the bass. Shokz can look into that and make adjustments to make that better with an app update. Shokz's implementation of the DirectPitch technology in the OpenFit Air earbuds is evident with the clear audio you get from them. Case And Charging The charge case is 2.5" x 2.5" x 1". It easily fits into my front pocket. The case has a USB-C charge port on the back of it. Inside, the spots for each earbud is molded so they fit well in their positions and a magnet holds each in place. I didn't have to mess around to get them to sit right. The two times I've charged the case, it took from 1.5 hours to 2 hours with the earbuds inside the case. I was also able to get 3 charges from the case before it dropped to 20% battery remaining. On a full charge, I was able to listen to an audio book for 5.5 hours before I needed to recharge the earbuds. Buttons And App The Shokz app will allow you to see charge levels of each earbud plus the charge case. It's also where you set the EQ and set what the touch sensitive buttons will do. There are several options for setting the buttons. Tapping the buttons once does one thing and pressing and holding does something else. It is this way for each touch sensitive button on each earbud. During my use, I had an issue where touching the left button didn't do anything. I had it set to press once to Play/Pause. I've had numerous instances where touching/pressing it didn't pause/play audio. I was tapping the correct place on the earbud, but it took many times before it registered that I had tapped/pressed the earbud's button. Pressing and holding to perform a function always worked. The right earbud's button worked every time I tapped once and when I pressed and held. The problem was just limited to press once on the left earbud. Hopefully Shokz can correct that with a firmware update. Skokz has also made the OpenFit Air earbuds capable of multipoint pairing. You can turn this on within the app. This allowed me to pair them with my iPhone and my tablet. Final Thoughts Shokz has come along way since the OpenMove headset. I've been using the OpenMove headset for some time now and they are good, but the audio from them doesn't have much bass. The OpenFit Air has enough bass that it allows for a righ audio experience. With them being lightweight and the rich audio, my sport activities have been a better experience. I'm very happy to see what Shokz has done with the OpenFit Air earbuds and I'm looking forward to see what they do in the future.

I wanted to like these and I did for a bit. It took awhile for them not to hurt my ears. The biggest issued I have with them is that they are not good for phone calls, and that is what I need them for the most. I could hardly hear and when I would try to readjust while on the phone, I would hang up on the caller, due to them being so touch sensitive. The music played fine and I could hear and good for working out. I do like the brand and the customer service is great, I think I need to try a different pair.

I love the fit of the Shokz OpenFit Air Earbuds! I accidently slept in the Shokz OpenFit Air earbuds and they were secure and intack upon awaking the next morning! These earbuds wrap around the back and then top of your ear for extra security. They are very comfortable and I can barely tell that I have them in my ears. I have worn the earbuds each day for about eight hours mostly because they are so comfortable that I forget to take them out of my ears. Charging the earbuds fully takes about an hour. My phone conversations while wearing the earbuds were crystal clear. Setup was very simple. You can pair the Shokz OpenFit earbuds to your phone and or PC. The earbuds can be switched between the two devices that were paired. Then you may download the Shokz app from Google Play Store or App Store. Using the app on your phone you can customize the controls, ie. change the double tap(play/pause) and press and hold (decrease/increase volume) from the right earbud to left earbud and vice/versa. Overall these are a very impressive pair of earbuds. Highly Recommend.

This review is prefaced on the idea that one expects to use these earphones in mind of their purpose and design, which dictates that the listener wants to hear their surroundings. These earpieces deliver consistent, strong sound performance via Bluetooth and absolutely still let the listener hear what is happening around them. These are fantastic earbuds for exercising outside. This is my primary use for them, and I think they are fabulous. Pros: Great sound, easy to operate, fit is easy and very secure, easy to operate controls, multi-point pairing, some personalization available through app. Works brilliantly for running outside. Cons: Iimited sound adjustability through app; got a little uncomfortable on right ear after nearly 1.5 hours, plus sunglasses. Not great for treadmill or avoiding noise from coworkers or others. More details: I wasn’t sure what to expect from these Shokz earbuds. I have been growing more disenchanted with wearing more conventional earbuds, even those that allow ambient control to bring outside noise into the listening experience when you want to hear in your environment. I had been considering the bone-conduction models of Shokz, but I didn’t like the band that goes behind the wearer’s head. Enter these Openfit Air Shokz. These are *not* technically bone conduction, and I honestly cannot compare them to other Shokz for that reason. They are little speakers, essentially, that sit just in your ear opening. I know that seems like it won’t work at all, but I have been amazed at what I can now hear while running, even while also still getting good sound on music. I listen to music at a reasonable volume on earbuds, rarely above half-way volume. That works fine for the most part, even on days when I was running in the wind. There’s definitely some wind noise, but honestly I think less than when I was using pass-through ambient earbuds. I *love* these for running outside. They are super secure (again, I wasn’t sure that would be the case, and I don’t have huge ears. I can wear sunglasses and a headband along with the Shokz and have had no issues with fit or security. Battery life seems fine; I have mostly used them for short periods, but after more than an and hour and a half use, they are still at 90%. The case is still at 60% after about a week and multiple (small) charges. So, no complaints. USB C charging is fast. The case is slim and and square. Because the ear hangers have to be ear sized, this case isn’t as tiny as some bud cases, but it’s small enough for a pocket (even in women’s clothes). Touch controls work fine, but the may be annoying in cold weather when wearing gloves. Some personalization is available in the app for the functions on each bud, but they are default for volume and pause/skip, which work fine and are easy enough to do. Sounds performance: good at all levels. Strong bass and strong stereo feels. Lyrics and vocal music come across well. In the app you can adjust the eq for “standard,” “voice” (i.e. for audiobooks or podcasts, talk radio), “bass” and “treble.” I’ve tried these; I think standard works best for most of my music and voice if clearer for listening to non-music audio. Treble might be nice for some orchestral music. The bass setting to me seems to sacrifice a lot of mid and upper tones; and I don’t know that it’s great even for heavy bass music—it all just feels a little muffled. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE THE APP, you don’t have to. But you won’t be able to adjust settings. Two sound caveats. Bluetooth / wireless is way better than it used to be, but it’s not the same as the fidelity with a plug-in, high end, over ear headset. So, I don’t expect buds to perform in that way. Caveat two: I’m centered on the experience while being able to hear other things. So, the sound is impressive in that it’s immersive, clear, and directed astoundingly well as it lets me also hear myself type or the jingling of my dogs’ collars. That does also mean that there is sound leakage. So, people around you might well hear some of what you are listening to. I wore these while casually working at home, and my spouse was in the room with me. He had no idea I was listening to them while working (my hair was covering them), but I was listening at a fairly low volume and his hearing is not as sensitive as mine. If I were working next to somebody, or listening loud, that person might find the Shokz annoying. Also, they are obviously not sound isolating or noise canceling. So, while I love them running outside…I did not enjoy them on the treadmill. Likely they are not the best choice on an airplane either, but I’ve not tested them in the vicinity of screaming baby.

I love Shokz. I bought my first pair a few years back, the AfterShokz ‘Titanium’, before they shortened their name to Shokz. Since then, I’ve owned the ‘Air’ and ‘OpenRun Pro’, with the OpenRun’s being my daily set of headphones I keep in my work backpack. These new OpenFit Air’s are a whole new beast. All my previous models were similar in that they all had a headband style design, each earbud connected by a headband seated behind your head. With these new OpenFit Air’s, Shokz has done away with the headband. The result is an overall smaller product, which is especially evident when the OpenFit Air’s are stored in their charging case. The one thing I’ve always liked about Shokz is that they are all designed for an open-ear experience, meaning you aren’t tuned out from the world around you. Open-ear headphones are perfect for any type of outdoor activity where you need to be aware of your surroundings. And while I do use mine regularly around the office, so I can hear others around me, I absolutely love taking them out on the golf course, so I can listen to my own music and be aware of any stray hits when someone inevitably yells “FORE!” The Shokz open-ear experience has not been lost with this new set. While they do cover your ears more than their bone conduction siblings, they just sit hovering next to your ears, kept in place by a sport ear-band style wing that wraps behind your ears. What I Liked: • They feel very secure on my ears. After the initial oddity of having a headphone hover over your ear wear off, I really appreciated how secure these were especially out on the golf course. I was worried they may fall off mid-swing, but not once did they really budge at all. These exceeded my expectations. • The sound quality is up there with my Shokz OpenRun Pro’s, which sound fantastic for open ear headphones. Shokz has gotten better and better over the years of delivering on sound quality in their open-ear designs. • I found the touch controls very useful. Tap and hold on the left bud for volume down, tap and hold on the right for volume up. Double tap on the left for play/pause, and double tap the right to skip to the next track. You can also answer calls by double tapping the right bud when there’s an incoming call. • These earbuds look premium. I really like the way they look with the chrome and rubber fusion. • As with any open-ear headphone set, you don’t get ear fatigue or itchy ears from plastic and rubber sitting in your ears for extended periods. • The earbuds as stored in their case are relatively compact. The case is comparable in size to the case for the Beats Fit Pros, though slightly bigger. What I disliked: • The touch controls, while generally useful, sometimes were a bit too sensitive. I inadvertently skipped a song or two I was enjoying while trying to adjust the earbud itself. I got used to how to manage not to trigger this, but it still occasionally happens. • The built-in mic is serviceable for phone calls, definitely not the best I’ve heard. As my sister put it when she called me and I answered on them, “It sounds like you’re talking through a radio.” • That’s it. Those are the only two complaints I had with these. They are really vey good overall. I think these are likely to replace my OpenRun Pro’s as the set of headphones I carry around on a daily basis. They have a much smaller footprint and won't take as much space in my backpack, while still packing the same punch sound-wise as my OpenRun Pro’s. I highly recommend these.

SHOKZ OPENFIT AIR EARBUDS ARE ROCKIN' GREAT!

Received my Shokz earbuds and they arrived wonderfully packaged. Box is shrink wrapped so you know they are new and unopened. Good quality black case which is magnetic so when you put the earbuds inside it grabs them and holds firmly in place. Also included is a small USB-C charging cable and an instruction booklet. My earbuds were both already charged at 100% but the case was at 50% so I started charging it. Before wearing I downloaded the Shokz app and created an account. It then registered my earbuds. In the app you'll find 4 EQ modes ~ Standard, Vocal, Bass Boost and Treble Boost. Also the battery life is displayed for each earbud and the case. I really like that feature! I listened to music and they sounded really awesome! No distortion at all switching between the various EQ settings. I mainly use these for speaking on calls and they immediately attached to the Bluetooth on my iPhone. The Vocal setting was the best for that and listeners stated they heard me loud and clear. Not fuzzy at all. Same with what I could hear ~ just perfect. The Standard mode is fine for all around listening and that's the default setting when you receive them. There are other various settings in the easy to use app so it's a users choice which they would like. I found these earbuds to be extremely comfortable. Because they don't have to fit inside your ears and have wraps that go around your ears, they stay on nicely and I can wear them for hours with no discomfort whatsoever. Great battery life too! All in all I highly recommend the Shokz OpenFit Air earbuds. I'm so pleased with mine and they definitely earn a 5+ star rating. I LOVE THEM!
