Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the impressive sound quality, comfortable fit, and good battery life of the OpenFit Air Open-Ear True Wireless Earbuds. Many appreciate the lightweight design and acceptable bass for this style of earbud. However, some customers feel the volume is too low and that the touch controls are limited.

    Never purchase a Shokz product

I purchased Shokz OpenFit earbuds and could not be more disappointed. They are defective in that they continually need charged since they regularly connect to my devices even while in the closed case. The real problem is not the defective product since this can be expected but rather the pathetic customer service provided by Shokz. After a very frustrating 5-month process, Shokz displayed a total inability to communicate and a complete lack of reliability with no resolution of my problem. Never again will I even consider a Shokz product and recommend the same to anyone considering a Shokz product. For what it's worth, I also highly recommend that Best Buy reconsider its business relationship with them due to the reputational risk.

They do not seat well in the charging case, therefore they don't disconnect or charge properly. You can't turn them off unless you place them in the case... Just right. Other than that the sound is OK, the comfort level is excellent. I would not recommend these at all.

These headphones have several innovative features. There are perfectly weighted and very comfortable. They stay in good position even during a cardio workout. The app is excellent and allows linking of two BT devices. The app you to switch devices in the app with visual feedback (rather thank starting and stoping a sound source hoping the preferred device will link). Not having a silicone bud to insert into your ear canal makes these usually comfortable and quick to place on your ears or remove. The sound is surprisingly good and there is significant but effective signal processing which make the quality similar to a perfectly positioned and inserted bud headphone. The case is excellent and the individual headphones are easy to place into the charging bay and stay in position (unlike other expensive brands which may be dead when you go to use the after storage. The case charges quickly via usb c and opens and closes easily. The case is smaller and flatter than major competitors and fits in a front or back pocket. The single and significant (depending on your use case) is the lack of passive external sound blocking and the therefore poor experience in loud environments. This is usually not a problem for loud music sources but if using for a phone call or movie - even on maximum volume the experience is frustrating.

I was suggested these by the instore rep and it is by far the worst purchase ive made. Battery life is unbelievably terrible, audio is aub par, the only saving grace was that these had ACN for the work environment. Would 10billion percent never recommend these ever. I would give zero stars if possible.

Would be 5 Star Except for the Multi-Point Pairing

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I really really liked these(OpenFit Air) and would give 5 stars except for one major (to me) detail with the multi-point pairing. These have an excellent price point, very comfortable to wear, great sound and stay put not matter what I was doing. I got them for using during the day mostly as I field calls from two different cell phones. While they do connect to both phones at the same time (multi-point pairing), there is one major setback for me. When I'm on a call with one phone and the other ones rings, it disconnects the earbuds from the current call and switches to the new one. This causes me to lose the ability to hear the conversation I'm already in and have to quick switch it to speaker or the phone, which is what I'm trying to avoid. My hub as the Open Run and I tried the OpenFit and OpenFit 2 and all 3 of these work perfectly with the multi-point connection. They stay connected to the call I'm in and the call coming in rings to the earbuds so I can hear the call, but does not affect the current call. These OpenFit Air also stay in the ear a wee bit better as the head of the earbud is slightly larger to catch the inner rim of the ear. They are more comfortable as the loop that goes around the back of the ear is not round and has an open design where the OpenFit and Fit 2 have a rounded end of the hook which is the feel more noticeable behind the ear and making them tender. I'm sure they'll adapt after a few weeks of wear and the back of my ear won't be as sore. So for now, I stick with the OpenFit and hope the technology for the Air gets updated to match that of it's counterparts.

I have been looking for something different in the headphone/earbud industry for a while. I have been making due forever mowing the occasionally with headphones, and I have a few over the ear ones I don't mine doing that with occasionally, but I really don't like how hot they are and blocking of my awareness they are of mower sounds. I hablve a few standard earbuds that clip well to my ear, but again sound dampening. I also, when I am in public walking, I want to know more of what's going on around me. These are the something different. They work a lot like the smart sunglasses I have without the glasses. They rely on bone conduction rather than air conduction of the sound. I took a chance getting these because I had seen a lot on their site about what they were, and they look good there, but I wasn't able to physically test them. The price is not bad for the market they are in for “open ear” or conduction headphones. I see ones that are really affordable 30 to 50, to what I would call mid price (up to 80), and then these that start to fall into the low end premium pricing. I have not tried any of the other earbud models to know how they sound, but I do have a few sets of smart frames that use this technology, and they fall in to mid premium to upper premium models. Sound wise these sound on par with those (clarity wise), and volume wise better because they are closer to the ear region. The frames are generally further in front of the ear Pinna, these are right at that. The sound like a standard ear bud. I detect no major distortions on the standard equilizer setting. There are only 3 other settings (voice, treble boost, and bass boost) and depending on what you are listening to, all can be good, but so far I usually stick with standard. The touch controls are usable, but I find they are not responsive for me many times I try, or there is a pretty noticeable delay. The more I use them, they seem to have less misses. You only have double tap and long hold to work with here, and I have long hold as volume up and down on r and l respectively, and skip and play/pause on r and as double tap respectively. This is the default setting out of the box, and it makes sense. For phone calls, either side double tap answers and hangs up, and volume still is the same on long hold. Call touch response was better than the music for responsiveness. The call is clear and the people on the other end notice I'm hands free, but I do not do not find myself having to repeat myself any more than normal. The fit of these on my ear is good, and are secure. I don't sense any pinching and so far, the longest I've worn then is about 3 hours. They claim 28 hours on a charge. I have not tested that fully, but watching the drop of battery life indicator on the app, if the indicator is accurat, that would be a good estimate. The feel/build quality is fair, the ear hooks and buds themselves seem solid. Overall, I am pleased with these. I can't give this more than 4 stars mainly because the touch response can be less than responsive/delayed ½ star off, the other ½ star is the lack of customizable equilizer and the lack of more music control (ie log hold, single, double, triple tap) which many other standard earbuds at or below this point have. Again, these are different setup and cost to build than a regular bud, but not enough that to not be able to include that. I still reccomend these because these, they seem to fall soundwise as good as a comparable standard earbud, and for me, allow better ambient awareness, the strong advantage these have.
