Cant get enough volume. Fits well worked ok for golf, but outside hiking and at the gym, i could t get the colume needed.

This is my first headphone that uses bone conduction, and from what I was expecting, it didn’t disappoint. It’s not the “best” sounding headphone out there, but for some use cases it is one of the most useful - so much so that besides running outdoors, I have been reaching out for the OpenRun Pro 2 more often than I initially planned. After using these for the last few weeks under various everyday circumstances, here are some of my observations: Build quality The OpenRun Pro 2 is well built and lightweight and is IP55 rated, so running it in drizzles and getting sweaty is not an issue. The headphone seems to be coated which feels like a rubberized finish, and the headband, even though very thin, is very flexible while retaining its shape. I have tried twisting it in various fashions and also threw them in my backpack where it got squished, but it never lost its shape. From what I have seen in the limited time, I don’t feel like I have to baby it, Comfort Being light-weight, as well as not covering my ear makes this one of the most comfortable feeling headphones I’ve ever used. Being a person with sweaty ears, any over-ear headphones which use leather/pleather are a no-go for me. I always have to switch to velour or other breathable earpads. As for earbuds, even though they are not sweaty, I get ear-hole fatigued after an hour or so. So imagine my happiness when I could use something that neither covers my earlobes, nor gets shoved down my ear canals - I was immediately sold. The only discomfort I felt is after 2-3 hours, I could start to feel that something is sitting on my ear (where the headphone loop rests). Sound quality Now maybe the most important part: how it sounds. Now if I compare my full-fledged over-ear audiophile headphones, or my more sophisticated IEMs, the OpenRun Pro 2 stands no chance, and I feel that is never a fair comparison. Now if I compare it to my other running earbuds, again the fidelity and bass is missing in the OpenRun Pro 2. However, the proper use case may be when those earbuds are working in transparency mode so that ambient sound is present with audio - and from that perspective I felt the Shokz offer something different and better. For podcasts and audiobooks they are more than adequate, and for music I’m satisfied. Compared to some neckband-style “personal speakers”, these are miles ahead. Now Shokz claims that to get better audio performance they have adopted a hybrid approach - along with their unique “bone-conduction” technology, they have “air-conduction” units that take care of the bassy part of the audio spectrum. And compared to my previous (limited) exposure to bone-conduction tech, they are comparatively better. However the rather limited performance at higher volume is still there though I couldn’t feel a lot of annoying vibration that was a hallmark of previous models. The downside of this “hybrid” tech is that there’s some sound leakage to outside - so even though it’s not very clear, others could at least notice that I’m listening to “something”. Calls For calls I found them just OK - they are usable when needed, but in noisy environments I found myself repeating myself from time to time to the other person. Audio from the other side was also just OK - again in noisy situations I had to pump up the volume (only to get blasted by my music when the call ended). Battery life As per the specifications, the OpenRun Pro 2 has a 12 hour battery life, with fast charging. In my regular use case consisting of running and doing indoor chores, I got a bit less, around 8-10 hours. I think the issue may be that when outdoors, to make the audio a bit more legible, I frequently upped the volume, and while indoors I was always connected to both my smartphone and my laptop - these may have some adverse effect on the battery life. Charging for only 5 mins gave me some useful hours of usage, and for 0 to 100% I typically spent around an hour which is not bad. Connectivity The Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 connects via Bluetooth v5.3, but only supports SBC codec (while used with my Android smartphone). It has multipoint (dual) connectivity which is very convenient (and I use this feature extensively). Controls and App The headphone has 3 physical buttons - the 2 right ones are for power on/off + volume up, with a dedicated volume down button. The left one is a single “multi-purpose” button, located at the temple, and can do a bunch of stuff like play/pause, skip, call accept decline, etc. So all the basics are covered, and the placement of the buttons are easy to remember with use. The Shokz app available from Play/App store provides some additional tweaks - most importantly the EQ (including a 5-channel custom EQ). The multipoint feature can be turned off, and there’s a list of all the devices the headphones have been paired to before which is very convenient. I also got an update to the headphones the first time I fired up the app. Conclusion In summary, I am very much impressed with the OpenRun Pro 2. The ability to listen to podcasts and music without losing situational awareness is just phenomenal. With 2 dogs and an infant, I found myself using these headphones indoors as well as outdoors. And when I’m running, even though I had to change the volume quite frequently based on what’s happening, I felt safer and confident now that I’m not losing touch with the outside world. For a lot of use cases, the hit on the audio fidelity is a small sacrifice that I’m happy to pay given to what I’m getting in exchange. Definitely something I’d recommend to all my friends.

Awesome headphones I use them for biking and running

These open-ear Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 headphones are my first product from Shokz. I am an earbud fanatic, and I’m prone to buying products when they first hit the market. I’ve been jogging for decades, and I typically look for products that have advanced ANC to ensure good quality sound when listening to music and audio books. I did know, however, that this open-ear design would not have any noise cancellation. Connecting them to my phone was effortless. Pressing the volume-up/on/off button and holding it for a few seconds was ample to start the Bluetooth pairing process. It only took a few seconds, and the buds were ready to be used. The earpiece on the left side has a tap-to-control button for the headphone’s functions. Tap it once to play/pause/answer call/end call. Tap it twice to skip to the next track/song. Tap it three times to play the previous track/song. If you pause the sound, you can press either the volume up or down buttons to get the battery level. The headphones will inform you of the battery’s status by saying “Battery High”, “Battery Medium”, “Battery Low” or “Charge Me”. This unit’s charging port is on the right side behind the earpiece. It has a removeable cover that hides a USB Type-C port. Two toggle switches are found in front of the charging port for volume up and volume down. The volume up button is also the Power On/Off/Pairing button. If you press the Volume up and Volume down buttons at the same time, this causes the headphones to toggle through the two EQ modes. They are “Standard Mode” and “Vocal Booster Mode”. There are other features available, like pairing to multiple devices. I’ve never needed to do that, so I can’t say how well it works. Still, the ability is there. In my inaugural outside run with the headphones on, I found them very, very light to wear. And the loop that goes over each ear made me feel very comfortable that they would never fall off, and they stayed securely against my head the whole run. Since these headphones are not in-ear or on-ear designed, and they don’t have ANC, I could hear everything going on around me. As a result, I wasn’t vigilantly looking around fearful that someone was going to run me over. I didn’t know if I’d like the open-ear design, but I found that I did. Unlike most of my other buds, I didn’t have to keep re-inserting them into my ears due to perspiration. The Shokz stayed in place perfectly. And the sound being put out by these headphones was more than ample to hear my music despite the din of outdoor noise. My second run the next day was on a treadmill at my local gym. The experience was quite different. There were so many gym-centric sounds to deal with that it was pretty distracting. Like weightlifters loudly dropping their barbells when done. Or hearing the footfalls of the runners on either side of me on treadmills. And then there were people loudly talking over the wall mounted TV sets or music playing throughout the facility. Despite all these distractions, the experience wasn’t horrible. The sound quality was surprisingly good irrespective of whether I was listening to music or an audio book. Oh, and the headphones and the glasses I wear were able to coexist without issue. While I am going to give these a 5-star review for outside running, and I think it’s a well-deserved rating.

It takes many many tried to sync it to my new tv i bought. And if i dont plug it in everytine after using, it will die and not turn on

These Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 headphones are phenomenal! They are a newly upgraded version of Shokz’ in the bone conduction headphone lineup, created specifically for sports, training, and the all-around active enthusiast in mind. Sound Quality The first and foremost importance in any headphones. In my opinion this is what cuts the mustard for any headphones, and they need to sound good, or I’m not interested. These do not disappoint. These OpenRun Pro 2 headphones sound great even through rough motions, workouts, or any activities that may tend dislodge other sport headphones. The bone conduction technology transmits sound through your cheekbones, allowing you to hear your surroundings while listening to music or podcasts. I really like this feature and it makes me feel more confident while on an outdoor run or working out in a busy gym where hearing the surrounding sounds/noises/talking/warnings can impact my workout and safety. Highs are high and deep rich bass throughout their frequency response. Quite impressive bass response and surprisingly robust for bone conduction headphones. The open-ear design does result in some top volume loss compared to traditional in-ear headphones, but this is a fair trade-off for the increased awareness and confidence they afford. Design and Comfort These headphones maintain Shokz’ signature design with a lightweight titanium frame, making it flexible and durable. The headphones rest comfortably on the cheekbones, leaving your ears open, which, as I mentioned, really works great and makes a difference in situational awareness during outdoor activities or anytime you need to hear things going on around you. The fit is secure, even during intense workouts, and the wraparound design ensures they stay in place throughout any activities I’m doing. Battery Life Excellent battery life, offering an impressive 10 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, giving them much more endurance than I could ever try to challenge with my workouts. They also offer a quick charge feature which will provide about 90 minutes of use from just a quick 5 minutes of charging. Connectivity and Controls The headphones use Bluetooth 5.2, giving them a stable connection with minimal to no latency. Pairing is simple and straightforward. They support a nifty multipoint pairing feature which allows you to connect to two devices simultaneously if so desired. The buttons on the frame are easy to navigate and access, even while on the move. These include typical music, volume, and phone controls without needing to reach for your actual phone. Water Resistance These headphones have a standard IP55 rating, making them resistant to sweat, dust, and rain, so they’re suitable for pretty much any activities indoor or outdoor, just not swimming. Conclusion I’ve really enjoyed using these Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 headphones. They are definitely an great choice for fitness oriented athletes and active individuals who prioritize comfort and maintaining safe surroundings.

Not a fan. Lots of friends had been raving about the headphones, especially as runners but I just didn’t like them. They would shift a lot which was super annoying. I wanted to give them a chance because of safety but whenever I’d pass busy streets, which was 50% of the time given I live in Los Angeles, I couldn’t really hear anything.

They do the job to allow me to use these for work. At max volume they are loud enough to hear, but in a loud welding shop far from ideal.

I absolutely loved my openrun pro while they worked, less than two months. I was excited to see the openrun pro 2 had a usb c. But wad disappointed with the increased size and terrible microphone. Wouldn’t recommend either pair

I love the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 headphones. I needed something that I could use during workouts without having to worry about them working their way loose and falling out mid set or run. I guess my ears are weird, because I can't find anything that stays put...until now. These headphones are super lightweight and very flexible. They are the most comfortable workout setup I've owned. Sound quality is fantastic. Plenty of high and mid. I was surprised at the level of low I can get out of such a small package. It's obviously not going to be like full over the ear units with larger drivers, but for this size, I'm very impressed. I actually have the bass turned down a bit just to keep the sound ultra clear. I think you will be able to get whatever you want out of these headphones. Operating is very simple. There are volume up and down buttons, with one of them doubling as power and pair. There is one multi function button on the left ear piece that you use to pause/play, answer/hang up calls, skip, and repeat. It's a physical button, so you have tactile feedback. While I like most of the touch sensitive stuff on the market, I have to admit that an actual button is kind of nice. The companion app on my phone is very basic. To some, that might seem like the wrong direction. I, however, prefer simplicity over a ton of gimmicky features that I'll never use. I have my choice of 4 preset EQ bundles. They each have their place depending on what you are listening to. I ended up creating my own custom EQ that I really enjoy. It's very simple to do. Beyond that, you can control multi device pairing and play/pause, etc if you don't want to use the buttons on the phones or your native music app. That's it. Very streamlined with only what you need. The case is nice. It a simple zipper case that is very lightweight. It has a molded interior so they aren't knocking around in the case when carried. A USB charging cable is included, but you need your own brick if you don't have USB power nearby from a laptop or whatever. Ya...I really do like this setup a lot. It stays put, sounds great, and it super easy to operate.

Work well but if you are riding a mower not so much.

These are cool and okay. I have made the mistake of going from the openairs to these. The openair sound have better sound and louder. Of course these sound better than the open com 2.

I bought these headphones to see if I could reduce the ear pain that I was experiencing by using over the head headphones. These bone conduction headphones made by ear pain worse.

After wearing the posts for a while, your head starts to hurt. I don't recommend them for that reason, but as for the rest, they're good, but my head hurt because they fit so tightly to my skull that I couldn't even stand them for half an hour, so I decided to buy another type.

The Shokz open run pro 2 are truly premium bone conduction sports headphones that deliver great sound quality. Running with headphones has always been the bane of my existence. From the time of wired headphones to ever the ear headphones to in ear bluetooth headphones, I was never able to find a headphone that did not interfere with my run. I have also tried a different mainstream brand of bone conduction headphones however they were not comfortable to wear at all. As soon as I opened the box and the carrying case for the Shokz open run pro 2 I knew that I had a high quality product in my hands. The headphone were very easy to pair with my iPhone and they immediately showed a 80% charge. As soon as you start listening to music you find it hard to believe that people standing next to you can't hear much of what is coming out of the headphones. The sound quality makes it feel like I am wearing my in ear Bluetooth headphones. There was not 1 instance during my run where I had to specifically stop to adjust my headphones because they fell off or felt like they were going to fall off. They are so light that you may even forget that they are there on longer runs. I usually have to remove my AirPods once during my run because they start to become uncomfortable after long runs. The battery life should last you well over 12 hours as I am still waiting to charge them for the first time. The headphones can be charged via the USB c port. The headphones are IP55 water resistant so there is no need to worry about them shorting out from sweat. Phone calls sound very clear with adequate amounts of noise cancellation on your runs. I would definitely recommend the Shokz open run 2 pro headphones to anyone looking for new running headphones

Loved them but unfortunately they made my ears hurt if constantly used
