Incremental Update, yet Greatly Improved

The Shook OpenRun Pro 2 headphones improve on what was already a great set of headphones.
The packaging it great and almost completely recyclable. The battery life has increased from 10 to 12 hours. Charge time is just as quick going from empty to full in about an hour. There is a change in quick charging, though, you can now get 1 more hour in a 5 minute charge. 5 minutes of charge will give you 2.5 hours of playback. That is great and makes it easy to use for multiple days.
The sound is improved in this version, using Shokz 10th generation bone conduction technology. The open design has always been great and the conduction sound does seem a bit more clear. However, you now get better bass tones with what they are calling DualPitch. This allows for less vibration from the bone conduction by using an “air conduction” speaker. The speaker is positioned to point into your ear and along with the bone conduction provides really great sound. I use these mostly for calls, and now using them with music is good too.
The microphones are good enough for my needs. I have no complaints from coworkers and they all say they can hear me clearly.
The combination of better sound and better battery life is an upgrade enough, but there is one more thing. It now changes over USB Type C! This was my one complaint with the previous version that used a magnetic charger. Now I don’t need to keep another single use charging cable.
Overall, the great sound, being great for workouts and work, having great battery life, and USB Type C charging make this an excellent value.

Getting the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 was my first venture into open ear bone conduction headphones. I was so excited at the idea of not having my ears full of silicone and hardware. When they arrived, I wasn’t expecting the nice case. I love that they are USB-C. My husband has a proprietary port on his. He isn’t a fan of having to take the additional cable when we travel. Putting them on, the sound is great considering it’s not coming from something halfway down my ear canal! It feels awesome to have my ears not stuffed full and yet still have rich sound coming in. What’s even more cool is that I can hear what is going on around me. I wish I had known they had a mini because I think that would have fit me better. Whenever I get used to new ear buds, they always make my ear canals sore. These cause that same soreness in a different part of my ear, the topmost part of the cartilage. They sit outside of my ear pieces from my glasses and rub just a tiny bit. They don’t cause pain, but they just get a bit sore after a long day of wearing them. Another great part about these is how if they get sore, they sit well if I set them around my neck. I can always move them up if I get a call. I think all of this soreness may have been resolved had I got the mini ones instead. I’ve worn these for days and only charged them twice so I would say the battery life fits my needs very well. All in all, I think these are great open ear headphones that give good sound quality while still hearing everything around me.

Bone Conduction technology in a headset. No earbud sticking in your ear uncomfortably, no risk of it falling out and interrupting your run, and a larger item so definitely harder to lose. I have not always been into fitness and running, and I am definitely not your example of a top tier runner. I probably also have a larger frame of body than most, as I used to be over 370 pounds but have lost around 130 in the last few years, and part of that has been running for cardio (in addition to weights and strength training, of course). I run primarily on a treadmill but I do mix in some outdoor runs from time to time and generally aim for 3 to 4 miles at a time. Even when I do a run and then some strength training, workout tends to last no more than an hour and a half. I generally drop about 10% battery power per workout, so battery life I estimate to be around 10 hours. Charge time is very quick as well, generally 30-40 minutes. Sound quality is excellent, more than I would generally expect from a bone conduction headset. If you want noise cancellation though, this is not the choice. Being as it's bone conduction and open ear, you can still somewhat hear things around you, which is nice for running outside to be aware of your surroundings. Overall with the solid battery life, sound quality, and comfort, this is a great option for any athlete regularly running or working out.

This is my first experience with bone conduction audio and I was pleasantly surprised.
The earbuds are pretty straight forward, with a piece sitting on each temple just in front of the ears and another that sits just behind the ears which connects each side by a short cable. For my head the cable sticks out maybe 1/2” from the back of my head.
Controls - the right earpiece has two bottoms + and - volume buttons, the + doubles as the power/pairing button. The there is also a USB-C charging port
The left earpiece has a single button that functions to start/stop music and answer/end calls (single push) next song (double tap) previous song (triple tap)
I was very happy with the sound, bass was adequate, better than I expected with nothing on the ear. I was amazed that those around me couldn’t hear my music even at max volume and very happy with the overall sound quality.
My first test was a 20 mile bike ride and the wind noise seemed a little more pronounced then without the Shokz on, but less noticeable than the only other earbuds I’ve tried on the bike. I was still able to easily talk with my buddy while my music was playing. The best benefit was I didn’t seem to get the sweat buildup in my ears I get with in-ear earbuds.
I took one call on the bike and was able to have a conversation, but my wife could hear some of the wind noise but said it wasn’t bad.
The only knock I have on the OpenRunPro 2’s and the reason for four stars is that they aren’t supported by the Shokz app (at least not yet), but it doesn’t seem there’s anything in the app you can’t do without it. There’s an EQ setting to enhance vocals but the instructions to tell you how to switch EQ settings and the prior version had an option in the app to change the earbud language. Neither are a deal breaker

I have the open pro run for 2 years. I was always thonking something was missing!! The upgrades 2 version is the answer!! They sound amazing with clarity, sound balance, and the app has been overhauled to have preset EQ soung options and 2 custon EQ sound presets that fit your listening sound needs! These sound better than ear pods and not irritating you ear canal by being jawbone sound. Be sure to look up how to measure your head to get the propper fit. .

These use traditional speakers in addition to the bone conduction drivers. This allows me to keep my ears uncovered to hear my surroundings, while still clearly listening to podcasts. With previous generations, the bone conduction drivers would buzz against my cheeks at high volumes. The speakers avoid this issue.
