As I am under 5' I like the smaller fit. Its very comfortable. The battery life is great. My complaint is that the volume is not very high. Im not sure how the display at Best Buy is able to get the volume high. It would also be nice if it had a usb-c instead of the magnetic charger.

Awesome wireless headset! Got these for my husband who works as an airplane mechanic and recently started going to the gym. He would complain about his ears hurting with earbuds or the top of his head being sore with the headphones and the length of time he would wear them. He also HAS to be aware of his surroundings during work so I did research and VOILA! Found the Shokz Openruns and these have been awesome for him! No soreness to be had and he can be completely aware of his surroundings while also getting quality sound and a secure fit. The battery life is also phenomenal--he wore them for 16 hours, on the entire time, and only drained 15% of the battery. He also noted that the bluetooth range was pretty far. Bonus: he said, even with a plane engine turned on (which outs out a ton of noise and vibrations), as long as he turned up the volume, he could still listen to his music!!!

Best Open Ear Headphones for Running

Amazing for running. The mini was perfect as I have a smaller head. They were super comfortable and did not bounce or slip while using. I barely even felt them when I had it on. Used this for Hood to Coast (200 miles relay) and my legs were about 6 miles each with one of them being in the middle of the night. I loved that I could still hear my surroundings while listening to my music. It shocked me with how easy it was to have conversations with other people while the music was playing. Multiple people on my team had these and we even influenced others to get them.

After 3 years, my go-to running headphones, the Plantronics BackBeat Fit finally crapped out on me. I have a pair of Sony In-Ear Noice Cancelling headphones that I tried to run in before I tried these. The way the earbuds suctioned into my ears created this massive, unbearable low frequency thumping every time one of my feet hit the ground. The majority of earbuds now have the soft round earpiece that suctions into your ears to keep them in so I purposefully looked for a set of headphones that weren't like that. I stumbled upon these. Tried them on at Best Buy, listened to the base OpenRuns (they didn't have the OpenRun Pros hooked up to music, only for trying on). Sounded really good, fit really good so I bought them. Just got back from my first run with them and here's what I think. They stay on my head great. No bouncing or shifting around. The piece that wraps around my head wasn't slapping against my neck. So that's really good. Very comfortable. The way they pressed up against my temple areas will take some getting used to. After getting back from my run, I still get the lingering feeling on the sides of my head like I'm still wearing them. The sound quality is subpar compared any other headset I've ran with, especially to my old BackBeat Fits. I don't know if there's something different from the OpenRuns I listened to at the store and the OpenRun Pros, or if its because I'm streaming music from my smartwatch (Garmin Forerunner 255S Music). They aren't so bad that its worth a return, but not even close to as good as what I'm used to. Especially for a $180 price tag. Another great thing I love about these is they have actual buttons. Not touch sensors. Thank the Lord. I can't stand touch technology, especially when I'm out running in the rain or when its really hot and I'm sweating like crazy. Wether it's headphones or smartwatches, I always get accidental touches, or it won't read that I'm trying to touch it. The buttons allow you to easily play and pause music, and it has volume control on the headset, very nice. One thing these do a lot better than my BackBeats is connect to my watch. It was a crapchute how long it would take for me to get them to connect. But these pair right up, no problem. Now, onto the biggest problem I have with these. The charger. It comes with a USB charging cable, however the end that plugs into the headset is a custom connector. Its not USB-C, USB Mini or Micro or whatever. So if you lose the cable or it goes bad, you can't just grab a spare usb cable you have lying around. I hate when companies do this. Overall I'm going to keep them around as a backup. I found what is probably the last pair of Plantronics BackBeat Fits on eBay for $70. When those get here I'll be using them as my main but it'll be nice having these Shockz just in case.

The truly was a game changer. I use these while bicycling and these are much better in every way that the ear buds that I was using. The bone conduction is much clearer than the ear buds while also allowing me to hear the traffic around me, which makes for safer riding. They are very comfortable and you forget you are wearing them. Actual long usage times (even when on a call) was an unexpected plus. Quick charging through the included unique magnetic cable displays the thought that went into this design. In addition the included form fitting case provides protection for these these headphones when not in use. In short, this is a well designed, new technology headphone that works very well and includes all of the needed accessories.

I absolutely love these Shokz OpenRun Mini Beige headphones! As someone who enjoys staying active while listening to music or taking calls, these headphones are a game-changer. The bone conduction technology is fantastic because I can enjoy crystal-clear audio without blocking out the world around me. The mini size is perfect for my ears—comfortable, secure, and lightweight, so I hardly notice I’m wearing them, even during long workouts. The beige color is sleek and stylish, blending perfectly with my gear, and I love how discreet yet modern they look. The sound quality is amazing for bone conduction headphones—full and vibrant with no distortion, even at higher volumes. I also appreciate the long battery life, as they easily last through my entire day of activities. The open-ear design makes them incredibly safe for outdoor use, allowing me to hear my surroundings, whether I’m running in the park or cycling on busy streets. Plus, the quick charge feature is a nice touch—within just a short amount of time, I’m back to enjoying music or taking calls hands-free. Overall, the Shokz OpenRun Mini is everything I was looking for in a pair of headphones—comfortable, practical, and stylish. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs great sound and safety on the go!

I have never been able to keep earbuds in my ears. Also, I'm uncomfortable covering my ears and being cut off from my environment. This device answers both those concerns. It fits comfortably around the back of the head and leaves the ear canals open to sounds around me. Going for walks now with music and hearing the natural sounds around is a sublime experience. The device charges quickly and lasts hours. The sound quality is good. The only place I've had difficulty is in airplanes, it has trouble competing and has to be turned up loud. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the device and the technology.

I was looking for something to wear while on the golf course as background noise and these delivered. Very comfortable but I can definitely feel the weight sometimes. If you wear anything with a popped collar, like a jacket, the back sometimes hits it so you feel it move. Other than minor things they're good for what i needed. The sound is good but not great. The bass is pretty much non existent but the mids and highs are good. Podcasts sound good as well. I will say, these don't just run on the cheekbones, they have little speakers that CAN be heard if past 50% volume. The best part though is that you can jump, run, roll etc. The transparency of your ears being free is great though so you can gear traffic or people easily. As long as you don't mind some quality loss then these work for every day and active use

This is my second set in less than 6 months. Not because I need two pair, but my dog chewed up my first pair and I felt lost without them. So I purchase another pair. Love the way they sound, the fact I can hear my co workers and patients and still be able to enjoy my music. And the mini one fit perfect for my small head.

Very nice sound, fit and comfort. Much improved sound experience from my first shokz headphones. I have a small head so the mini was a much better choice and the sound experience is a significant improvement. I wear the headphones for an average of 6 hrs. Per day and I hardly recognize that I am wearing them. Phone calls are easily heard by myself and those that I am talking too. I would highly recommend the Shokz mini pro for those who want to hear surrounding sounds and for listening to books and music.

I love these headphones! I got them for work about 2 months ago, I work 4 10hr shifts and 1 8hr shift a week and they last all day and take very little time to recharge to a full battery for the next day! They are comfortable but I also wear glasses and they will start to rub the top of your ears after awhile until used to them. The only 2 reasons I didn’t give these 5 stars are for 2 small factors. The first is that it is very quiet when announcing that they are being turned on/ off that most the time I can’t hear it. The second reason is that the play/ pause button on the left side either presses or doesn’t, most all the time it will still register a press even when it doesn’t press down, however, when it does press it sounds rough, like a crunch in your left ear which is not fun to hear. After 2 months of play I have only noticed an issue with connectivity once and I’m not sure if it was from the headphones or an issue with my phone.

Excellent sound quality while still allowing you to hear what is going on around you. Not something i would recommend for loud environments or when you are TRYING to tune out your surroundings such as flying, but i find they work perfectly when at the gym or running outside to keep me aware of potential hazards or in close proximity to other people. They fit securely and dont tend to move around or need adjustment. Zero complaints since i prefer to know what is going on anywhere near me for my own safety. 10 hour play time is also great, and i can honestly say that it probably does every bit of the 10 hours

I have used every earbud and headphone on the market, and these are by far the best. They charge quickly, last all day, and will not fall off when running. Now, the one con for me is the sound qaulity. They do not produce the same sound quality as some of their competitors, but they serve my purposes when running, hiking or swimming. I would definitely recommend these headphones to anyone who is highly active or who are experiencing ear fatigue from their current earbuds/headphones.

Great fit and color. Long battery life, can go easily 2 days without a charge listening for about 3-4 hrs per night. Quality is decent, not as good as my airpods but it’s nice not to have something in my ear canal constantly. Definitely not air worthy, I’ll stick to my airpods but these are great for around the house chores while still being able to hear surroundings. Magnetic charger connection is strong for how small it looks being a mag charger. I forget they’re even on sometimes. Sometimes I can’t tell if my phone speakers are playing or the headphones.

These are great for listening to music (Spotify)! Connected to my phone with ease. The range from source of connection is better than I expected! Battery life is really good both in use and not when using. Sound quality for listening to music is quite good. There are no issues when wearing glasses. Probably the most impressive thing I've found is the excellent sound and speech quality during phone conversations! Charging time is quite fast too. Although I have limited experience with other ear buds and none with open earphones I feel most people would be quite satisfied with these. If like me you want the ability to hear things around you and hopefully reduce damaging your hearing then I'd give these a try.

The Shokz Mini takes the innovative bone conduction technology Shokz is known for and packs it into a smaller, more portable design. It’s truly impressive how well the Shokz Mini handles audio quality despite its compact size, providing a clear, well-balanced sound that rivals its larger counterparts. What it lacks in deep bass, it makes up for in comfort and wearability, perfect for those long runs or workouts. The battery life, however, leaves a little room for improvement, and the price point might be a concern for some. In summary, the Shokz Mini proves that big things do come in small packages and is worth considering for those in the market for compact, high-quality bone conduction headphones. Four out of five stars.

These are comfortable to wear and sound good. I have tried them inside the tractor cab and don't quite over come the noise from the tractor, I will try them with ear plugs next time. I am looking forward to using them when working outside so that I can still hear the world around me and be entertained. These easily connected to my Samsung phone.
