So I bought this back in June. I take a lot of photos of my kids during their track meets and I wanted to get something that would allow me to get further range before the Junior olympics at Texas A&M. I would say that I was really pleased. I would definitely recommend getting a tripod or monopod to support with stabilization. I am still learning how use the lens but so far so good. Very pleased. I even got a picture of a dragonfly in motion. I used this with a Canon Rebel T7i.

I’ve picked up bird watching as a hobby and wanted to take some picures woth my Canon 6Dm2 and 300mm lens. Soon realized 300mm would not be enough to get good details and the search for a 600mm lens began. I came across this sigma one and acter watching so many youtube videos conparing the Contemporary and Sport variants i ordered both (C new from BestBjuy and S used from mpb). Holdong both, its obviois the S is not intended for handheld photography. Image quality between the two lenses is so close you can’t tell the difference. Now the C is on sale too, and BestBuy price matched. Overall this lens is worth it especially if you want to photograph wildlife and birds, as well as sporting events. .

I love this lens! I would classify myself as a intermediate photographer. To me the stability lens is awesome this lens will not disappoint. All photo's barehand held. Moon shot 600mm, city shots 150mm.

Great pix with my Sony a7ii mirrorless camera. Works like I wanted and expected. Will work in auto mode but, I prefer manual. This really fits my needs of bird watching shots.

Okay...at first I was looking at this lens as well as the Tamron lens, same spec. Both had equal good reviews. Thus, I went and bought the Tamron......within 3 days that lens had dust. ( mind you I have a Canon 100-400 lens for the last 5 years w, heavy use without so much as a speck on its internal lens),,,,returned the Tamron as defective and got another....same thing happened. Needless to say, the third time was the charm and I bought the Sigma 150-600 mm lens. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! First off, the lens itself appears to be put together much much better than the Tamron, the quality of the materials was superior. I test drove it after using the Sigma USB dock which I highly recommend. WOW crisp photos with little effort of the lens to focus quickly at the 600 length. And after 3plus weeks its not had any issue with internal dust or otherwise. This lens is top notch folks. ( coming from a long time dedicated Canon user. I would highly recommend! One last suggestion, take a moment to read the company’s mission statement on a little fold out thats included with the warranty and registration info. This will tell you all you need to know. A plus company with A plus products.

Great First Super Telephoto Lens

This lens is a good introduction to the world of super telephoto lenses. As such, you should expect a learning curve until you learn how get the most out of it. In fact, I highly recommend the Sigma Dock as companion purchase so that you tune the lens to your camera. The images were good prior to calibration, Images are pretty stunning afterwards.
The calibration process can be time consuming, which consists of taking test shots under 16 different scenarios. However, you are rewarded with excellent images, provided you are thorough and take your time.

I realize that this review seems a little dated. I didn't want to use this lens once or twice and then review it. I have now used the lens over a year. I am a professional photographer, specializing in landscapes, aerials, and wildlife. Is this a 5 star wildlife telephoto lens? Probably not, due to the 5-6.3 limitation. However, for the price, and comparing it to the Canon 400MM or 600MM, NO CONTEST. This lens is tack sharp, and easy to use. It can be used handheld, and is lighter than the competitors, but works best on a tripod. If you're going to use it handheld, need to be at a shutter speed of 1/1500th or quicker. My only knock on the lens, and I knew this prior to purchasing it, is that it does not perform great in low light situations. Not horrible, but not great either. I would say average, in low light situations. Living in Alaska, that does pose more of a challenge, particularly in the Winter time. However, I have learned, over the time that I have used it, how to use it the most effectively, in lower light situations. Get as close as you can to the subject, stationary subjects are best, so you can open the shutter longer, and use Auto ISO. If I had it to do over again, I would absolutely purchase the lens again. Now, if money is not an object, I would probably purchase the Canon 400MM 2.8, or the 600MM 4.0, but they are both price a TON higher than this lens.

The lens feels extremely solid and well built and finished with a high-quality smooth, matte black exterior. The Contemporary model of the 150-600mm lens is the more consumer-oriented, less pro-level lens, and as such doesn't feature as thorough of weather sealing. The lens features a rubbery gasket on the lens mount and the front element has water and oil repellent coatings, but otherwise, the lens is not weather-sealed like the Sports version, so be sure to cover the lens if you're out in inclement weather.

Excellent Lens

I've gotten into wildlife photography and my 55-200mm lens wasn't cutting it. I did a lot of research before buying a telephoto lens for my Nikon D5200. This lens did not disappoint. I've used for 2 weekends at my local wildlife drive and the quality of my pictures has skyrocketed.
Lens is solid, heavy at about 10lbs. Most pictures are sharp and crisp, most that are not are my fault. there is a little learning curve, but I'm ecstatic with this lens.

Great Lens for Stunning Images

I was in the market for a medium/long-distance lens for nature/wildlife/sports photography before discovering this model. After some practice with the settings and gearing it for my camera body (Canon M50), it's a question as to why I waited so long to make the purchase! This is now my go-to lens in my arsenal and will be for years to come!

An excellent lens for EF mount shooters doing wildlife and sports. I would not recommend it for anyone with an APSC sensor because you'll be losing a stop of light which will really impact you in any low light situation. But I adapted this to my R6 Mk. II and absolutely love it.

Excellent lens. Great quality sharp photos. Takes a little to get used to since it is a little heavier than he kit lens I had been using. Love being able to shoot wildlife not having to worry about getting too close or cropping a lot when editing.
