Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the exceptional image quality and low-light capabilities of the 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Standard Lens for Canon. Many also praise its robust build and favorable price point. However, some users have reported challenges with focusing accuracy and find the lens to be heavier than anticipated. The lens's build quality is frequently highlighted as a positive attribute.

This lens is hands down one of the best I’ve ever purchased. This has taken my videography and my wife’s photogrpahy to completely new and artistic levels. The low light and f stop on this lens are like none I’ve ever owned before.

Use this on my Canon RP. Feared I would have some focusing issues as I need an adapter to connect EF lenses, but have had none. Sharp photos even at 1.4. Would highly recommend sigma lenses to accompany any canon eos body.

While this lens is "expensive," prohibitively so for most amateur photographers, I cannot recommend it enough. The complaints I have about this lens, namely chromatic aberration when fully open on high-contrast areas, as well as some slight barrel distortion and not quite as much bokeh as I would like on subjects not quite close to the camera/lens, are all pretty much issues that come with the territory on a lens of this focal length with this large an aperture. I can't fault the manufacturer for physics, and they've done an incredible job keeping these aspects' impact to a minimum. When the pictures I take are viewed at 100% on a monitor, I am blown away by the detail and clarity. Tack sharp even at 1.4, even the edges are incredibly well-detailed when stopped down to the f/8 range (I've been using this for a lot of nighttime HDR shots). The color reproduction and contrast and saturation are beautiful. Many times I wouldn't even need to process images in post as I've set the white balance appropriately for the shot, but I do anyway for aesthetic. Still, the pictures this lens can capture for you are second to none. It's every bit as wonderful to use as my Sigma 85mm f/1.4, which was the lens I always kept attached to the camera until this one swooped in to replace that spot. My 6D has never been happier. Thanks, Sigma!

A benchmark to compare all other lenses to

I purchased this lens for a trip thru london, Rome and beirut. Build is top notch. Weight is surprisingly light considering its an f1.4. Sharpness is mind blowing, even wide open. Sigma set a new benchmark with this lens. I was using this lens adapted to my eos M5 and to my sony a7iii with the sigma mc11 adapter. worked very well on both. I did end up returning this lens because 35mm is not my preferred focal legnth( i tend to shoot ultra wide), but believe me, that was a very sad day for me. I highly recommend this lens to anyone and everyone considering a fast standard prime.

Although I didn't end up keeping the lens because I have a cropped sensor and this wasn't wide enough, this is amazing value for a lens! If you wanna get the same lens from Canon, it would cost about 5 times as much for the same aperture, and the build quality of this thing overall seemed much much better! Definitely recommend this to anyone with a full frame camera regardless.

I love my sigma lens. It is a great option to go for when you don't want to pay the Canon price, and it has served me so well from weddings to grad shoots and events. Definitely recommend.

This lens is the best in my inventory. I use it for everything! Love that the f stop can go wayy down to 1.8. Great for low light situations, and if calibrated correctly, it is as sharp as a knife. The autofocus is not the best, but I don't use auto focus much so manual is great for me. This lens can make any camera look great! Highly recommend!

Initially the lens missed focus completely in the viewfinder. After calibration using the Sigma dock (sold separately) it's been fantastic on my Canon 90D, 6dMKii and T7i. The f1.4 gives a sharp image indoors in very low light. Excellent bokeh from a few feet away. Just a high quality lens that is very sharp and useful in many situations for me.

amazing quality, specifically on a canon R6 camera. has to be calibrated on other non-mirrorless cameras due to focusing issues, but I haven't experienced issues since switching to mirrorless. focuses about 90% of the time, which is fine by me.

Great Lens Got my Son a Job

My son is the photographer but he was told this is the best lens to get hands down for the particular night club and individual people. Not too long after getting the lens he ended up with the job there. His other lens was a real wide aperture I believe this is a wide aperture but just perfect for taking photos of people in a dark atmosphere. This is actually his second lens from them that he uses with his Cannon Mark 6 I believe base. We’ll all I know is he didn’t get the no. Until he got this lens then they gave it to him once they saw the difference in that environment that his photos looked liked. The right equipment goes a long way.

Superb image quality and build. Got it on sale for a killer price and I couldn’t be happier. I use it for video and I do wish the focus throw was longer, but that’s a very minor nitpick.

Bought this lens in conjunction with my T6. Way better than using my 50mm to be closer to my subject cause of my crop. Really well built and quiet, but a little on the heavy side. Overall, good lens

It took me a very long time to love this lens. I wanted the canon version but it was out of my budget at the time. I honestly thought I've made a mistake purchasing this. After a youtube viewer gave me some tips, I began to get the hang of it. I love this lens as it caters to my needs since I do lifestyle/traveling/portraiture type of photography. I almost even sold it too. Glad I didn't. I hope to add the sigma 85mm or 24-70mm to my collection next.

This lens is amazing! I was really torn because I had never bought a lens that wasn't canon. I have not used the canon version of the 35mm but I can tell you that this lens outperforms my nifty 50!
