Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the exceptional image quality and low-light capabilities of the 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Standard Lens for Canon. Many also praise its robust build and favorable price point. However, some users have reported challenges with focusing accuracy and find the lens to be heavier than anticipated. The lens's build quality is frequently highlighted as a positive attribute.

I love this lens for wide shots and even some portraits. Depending on how close you are to the subject you get nice bokeh. The only thing is if you use this lens for video, be sure to have a seperate mic because it can be a bit loud when it is focusing and your camera's mic will definitely hear it.

I spent many hours researching this lens before purchasing. I had read about people having issues with the auto focus, but was determined to get it anyway. I even purchased the sigma dock to make sure it was calibrated correctly with my canon 6D. Unfortunately I had to send this lens back. Focus is not consistent (especially at longer distances) I'm bummed cause when it was on, it was sharp! I just can't spend this kind of money and get a lens I can't rely on...so onto finding another lens!

Been looking to get a lens with a short depth of field and this Sigma fits the bill. It's a good quality lens that works well with my Canon camera. Glad I got it.

This lens did not work well out of the box on my Canon EOS 80d. The autofocus constantly missed when shooting photos but the focus was spot on while shooting videos. AF was a little better using live view than shooting photos through the viewfinder. The autofocus was not too noisy for video. You will most likely need to purchase a USB dock if you are using this lens on a DSLR and according to reviews of the lens, that is how you fix the autofocus. On the other hand, it works perfectly on my Canon EOS RP for photos and video. I opted for using the Canon RF 35 1.8 because it seemed to perform better but the AF is not as quiet as the Sigma if you are shooting video.

This is the most expensive lens I've ever purchased and it did not disappoint. It focuses on a level beyond any other lens I own (no L glass, yet). I read countless reviews online before deciding to make this splurge, and I'm glad I did. It's on the heavier side. But the quality of the photographs it captures outweighs its actual weight. I have not experienced any issues some customers have complained about. Well, sometimes it has difficulty focusing in really dark situations, but I can't compare that with any "L" glass-- I can tell you it focuses a lot better than the Cannon 50mm and 85mm lenses.

This will allow for great portrait shots with a shallow depth of focus. Best of all, less than half the price for the Canon brand of the same lens. Works great and excellent picture quality.

I bought this lens about 3 weeks ago and it’s one of the best investments that I have ever made. The lens is pretty heavy, but the quality (especially the bokeh) is amazing!
