Customers are enthusiastic about the sharpness of the 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Telephoto Zoom Lens, praising its ability to produce consistently sharp images even for fast-moving subjects in various sports. However, some users note that the lens is quite heavy, which can be tiring during extended use. This weight is a significant drawback for some, impacting their overall experience.

I'm very happy with the performance of this lens. It does a great job at a distance an up close with the auto focus. I'm brand new with this kind of lens it is a little heavy but focus is quick which helps a lot. Love results of camera and lens .

This lens is absolutely amazing! I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great all around lens. The only draw back is it is heavy and will wear you out on an all day hike. My daughter uses it with a monopod due to the weight.
Attached are 2 pictures from the same spot to show the difference from using it on a full frame 5D Mk3 and APS-C 50D. The APS-C turns it into a 650mm lens.

I'm always reluctant to purchase accessories for my Canon cameras that are not the Canon brand, but took a chance on this Sigma lens after it was recommended by a friend. I spend last weekend at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and Viera Wetlands in Melbourne photographing birds. I got consistently sharp pictures, whether the subject was still or in flight. I had read on other websites that there were complaints about the weight of this lens, however, I did not find this to be a problem. I am female, 59 years old and hand held the camera most of the time, even while hiking, with no problem at all. Previously I was using a Canon 400mm lens and this lens is far superior.

SIGMA produces some of the best 'after market' glass. While I would love to own a similar lens frpm Canon, I cannot substantiate the five digit $$,$$$ expense.
An awesome lense and value. Long shots will benefit with the use of a mono/tri pod. You'll get quite a workout (4# + of lense!) Buy a good padded cross body strap.
Also considered 150-600 from Sigma (S/C) & same from Tamron. These lenses are newer and 'technologically' superior in several ways. However, 150mm low end was too much for me.

I bought this lens for my 80d camera. I needed a lens that would shoot great pictures in soccer, basketball, baseball and track and this does a fantastic job. It can shoot close shots and far away shots.

I AM USING THIS LENSE WITH A CANON 70D. THE LENSE IS VERY SHARP AT ALL FOCAL LENGTHS. IT TENDS TO BE A BIT SOFT AT THE 500 MM RANGE. SHARPER THAN TAMRON 150-600 LENSE
