Easy to set up, and has been very reliable. My wife and I just recently had our first baby and she was going to be home alone during the day, so we wanted to get a solid DIY security system. WARNING though, in order to use the app and turn on/off the system remotely, you'll need the $25/month subscription

I bought this for my daughter and her first apartment after college. Installed it my self. The install is fairly easy but the adhesives aren’t good. So I advise mounting. This is difficult with windows and doors. The parts are magnetized, so that helps. I used the magnetized part on the door but had to mount the other part to the door frame. The other quality issue is the keypad. My daughter has had to change the batteries twice in the first month. There has to be an issue. SimpliSafe says they warranty there products for 3 years so we will be sending this back. The monthly fee is only $15. The alarm went off once and they did call. They can’t turn the alarm off. However you can turn the alarm off remotely through the app.

This is a great security system, it is very simple and easy to set up! Comes with choices of screws or 3mm tape to put up the sensors. The keypad was relatively easy to set up and connect to thesensors and home base. It lights up at night when it senses your hand on it ithout even pressing te actual button. You can have multiple passcodes. The alarm sound is very loud and you can change the volme on that. You can change the duration of time befor the alarm itself will go off which is nice if the keypad is not placed right near your door. It tells you if a door was left open, and you can set it to make a noise everytime a door is opened.

I love this system. It unboxes and feels high-end, however the camera options are lacking. The doorbell only comes with a wired option (which didn’t work for my house), and the indoor camera is black and white 780p. Other companies offer more well integrated camera options with better resolutions but didn’t win my trust with their security systems. SimpliSafe was easy to install (I have 23 entry sensors between my lower level doors and windows, 3 glass break sensors, 2 motion detectors, 3 sirens, and 3 key fobs for my family (slick design with arm/disarm and panic button). It’s not ideal, but I’m using this system with the Ring 3 Plus wireless doorbell and a Ring floodlight stick up cam. Ring and are not my favorite but I wanted a well priced option that offered monitoring. Hope this helps.

The Simplisafe base station, keypad and sensors all install very easily. The written instructions are well-illustrated, clear and straightforward, and the base station voice prompts provide helpful feedback. The use of Command-like removable adhesive on the backing plates is much appreciated. Although many reviews mention this as a disadvantage, I would argue that the relative lack of integration into smart/connected home systems is actually a good thing - it keeps the interface simple and easy to comprehend and navigate, and (hopefully) reduces exposure to inevitable remote/online attacks. Such attacks are honestly more of a concern than the lack of encryption in the base station/sensor communication in the previous-generation Simplisafe system (but which is supposed to have been fixed in the newer systems).

Just got this yesterday, so I cannot review about the operational quality. But wanted to write a review after previously buying a Ring Security System-it was difficult to set up unlike the easy demo videos showing it without glitches. I encountered glitches with the base station not being recognized in most of the rooms of my home until I tried a 3rd room. Afterwhich I struggled with the contact sensors -unable to install them b/c the QR code was not recognized by scan nor by manually inputting the numbers. So frustrated-returned the Ring. Next day, I went to Best Buy and purchased the Simplisafe system-OMG! Installation was a dream! Took only a few minutes-spent more time marking and using the level to position the keypad! Love it! Works beautifully! The engineers who designed this system made it so easy-the installation is operated not by your phone/app like the Ring but by the keypad which directs you through each step.
