The Simplisafe Series 2 outdoor camera is a new model meant for the latest version of the Simplisafe home security systems. It charges up with a USB cable before you install it with the Simplisafe app, and the process was fairly easy. The app has settings for using the camera similar to most security cameras like sensitivity and an image grid to avoid detecting motion in parts of what the camera sees. You can also screen out everything but people, time will tell how accurate that feature is. It's a sturdy camera with the ability to use a removable rechargeable battery, or connect it with an outdoor AC adapter which is really like a typical USB brick with a long cable and a water-resistant connection at the camera itself. The image is sharp and clear in the day time and reasonable clear in the dark but black and white of course. The notifications of motion detected come pretty quickly too with fast home internet. The one drawback is--with something in this price bracket it should have a mount included more suitable for outdoor use. The magnetic mount is small, and the lower part of the camera prevents you from using much of a downward angle. It does have a threaded standard camera mount hole though, so you can improvise with some other mounts.

Im boycotting Best Buy until you all deliver all appliances with no damage. Then it will probably take a year or more to let it go.

This product will not connect to my wifi for some reason. All the other Simplisafe products worked right out of the box, no problems, but this one I just can't get to work.

So I received my SimpliSafe Outdoor Security Camera a week ago and I couldn't be more excited. I installed a SimpliSafe system in my office building at work, so I kinda knew what to expect. This company is great. Now, I’ve been using SimpliSafe for about 8 years now, so I have come to love the products they produce for quite some time now and how easy their home security systems are to use, as well as their entire ecosystem of devices that all work seamlessly with one another. UNBOXING * Outdoor Security Camera * 6” Charging Cable * Outdoor Power Cord * Power Adapter * Magnetic Mount * Rechargeable Battery * Installation Hardware SETUP Now before attempting to install this camera outside, it is recommended that you charge it fully. Now depending on where the charging status is on the camera when you get it, it can/may take up to 6 hours to fully charge this camera before installation. Also please not that in order for this outdoor camera to work, you must already have a SimpliSafe Home Security System Installed beforehand; that way you once you have fully charged this camera, you can add it as an additional device to the keypad, which you should already have, if you have your SimpliSafe Home Security System already in place. Just make sure theHome Security System is at least a Gen 3 Security System. The Wireless Outdoor Camera is just as easy to get connected. Using the app, add the camera like you would any other device and find the perfect spot for it to be mounted. Since it had been raining non-stop here for the last week, I've not had a chance to mount this camera outside my door yet, but it is connected and up and running. You will have to keep an eye on this camera as it will need to be charged periodically, but the you can possibly minimize how much you have to charge it by turning off the or adjusting motion sensor settings and activity zones. Because of the easy installation for myself, that means it doesn't take a rocket scientist to install it nor does it take a long time. I pretty much had this camera up and running in about 15 minutes after it was fully charged. The camera records 1080P. It would have been nice to have 4K, however, that is not a deal breaker because 1080P is still really good video quality in my book. I also like that you can view these cameras and what may or may not be happening at your home while you're away from practically anywhere in the world. Great camera with great video quality, and easy maneuverability with the Magnetic Mount. Great addition to add to your home if you’re already invested in SimpliSafe and their amazing line of home security products.

The SimpliSafe Outdoor Camera Series 2 is a wonderful camera overall. There are very few cameras that are this easy to set up and install and require little to no instructions whatsoever, and this is one of those cameras. First, out of the box, you do need to charge the battery. Once the battery is charged, plug the battery into the camera, follow the on-screen instructions on the SimpliSafe App, and now you're ready to mount the camera, which is so easy a caveman can do. Now the video quality is only 1080p, which isn't phenomenal, but it isn't horrible either. It could be better, and it could be worse. The sound quality of the video though is very good. You could hear someone whisper in a 500-square-foot room for instance. The night vision is where the video quality of 1080p is where it fails the most to me, but then again it's not horrible, just not great. You can make out facial features and such, it's just the outlying area of the camera (Perimeter if you will) is very grayed out and a little harder to see. However the overall camera quality for daytime is amazing and the overall quality of the camera itself is great, and the setup is great. I'm truly happy with it and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great camera for their SimpliSafe system.

Unboxing & Initial Set Up Having set up a previous SimpliSafe system previously I was already familiar with how I needed to go about everything. Even with that the app guides you through everything, and I mean everything, from the syncing of the camera, to how to install it properly (height, angle, etc) and so it makes it a breeze. They have taken the guesswork out of everything. That said I did run into an issue where one of the cameras, with it's twisting magnetic mount would randomly rotate itself and the camera would fall. It could be because of how I have it mounted but the other one doesn't do this! Either way it looks like I am going to have to revisit it to see if I can get it to stop doing this as it wasn't until about 10 minutes after I mounted it on the back side of the house facing the back deck that I saw it had rotated 90 degrees out of nowhere. Rating: 4.5/5 App Usage Being able to go back & look at previous clips is a must for any camera for me & with this SimpliSafe Outdoor Camera Series 2 I am able to do just that. I installed the app on all of our phones & I even had it on my elderly mother's iPhone (she lives with us). She was able to pull up the app & look at the cameras with ease even with her aging eyes; which she could even see clearly what was going on with the image being displayed (UPS showing up or the like). I am extremely happy with the ease of use. Rating: 5/5 Camera Quality Other than the minor issue I outlined above (rotating 90 degrees on it's twisting magnetic mount) the camera has been great & it has a really good image quality. I don't know the exact resolution of the camera but it is clear enough for us. I was able to read the license plate of visitor we had to our home when we were not home (they didn't do anything, I just wanted to see if I could), which of course my 4K cameras can do too but they are much larger than these SimpliSafe cameras and so I was pretty surprised with that. They packed a really good camera in a pretty small form factor considering the batteries are probably two 18650s in a sort of case. Rating: 5/5 Conclusion The camera really blew me away with how well it has performed. I do have it plugged into a power outlined & so I don't know the battery life in my situation because I put them so close to an outlet but I think even on just batteries this camera would perform well. Of course a heavy traffic area would want to have a wired, or solar, power source. From the easy of mounting, to the ease of set up & syncing, to the ease of looking at live & even historical events this camera and the whole SimpliSafe system is a home run in my eyes. A system like SimpliSafe has used to cost thousands of dollars plus $50-100+ each month and now it can be had for a fraction of the cost with even better equipment now. I truly love the SimpliSafe eco system & will be looking to continue to add more as I hopefully stay a SimpliSafe user for years to come! Overall Rating: 14.5/5

I've been using SimpliSafe for my home security for a few years now, and my family and I could not be happier. Our system has included a couple of the first gen Outdoor Cameras from SimpliSafe and we have been mostly happy with them, but this new Series 2 version really does add some welcome upgrades. First and foremost, I really love the 2 way communication and the Outdoor Protection that is now available with the Series 2 camera. My previous cameras gave easy notifications to show you what was happening in it's field of vision, but there was no way to interact with anyone out there. The Series 2 now gives you the opportunity to speak to anyone near the camera. Outdoor Protection also allows for the SimpliSafe monitoring service to interact with folks out there as well. The second thing that I love about this new series is the improved image quality, especially at night. The color night vision and improved detail is great. It makes a huge difference. Everything is noticeably clearer at night. Along with the previously mentioned updates, they also advertise using AI to improve notifications and recordings. I've only been using the camera for a little over a week so I haven't really noticed if this is improving things much. I will say I replaced the location of a previous outdoor camera with this Series 2 and have noticed less false notifications. On the other one I would get a lot of false notifications from the shadows if nearby trees. Not so much with this new one. I really appreciate the new upgrades to what SimpliSafe is offering for outdoor security monitoring. The 2 way talk, improved night visions are both very beneficial improvements. Along with the indoor 2 way camera this is really rounding out our home security system. This is an easy recommendation.

Security is a top priority when it comes to my family and our home. With so many options on the market for security syetems, it can be extremely frustrating trying to choose the right one. For us, Simplisafe has been our go-to security system since we bought our first home in 2015. Simplisafe continues to inovate and expand on their security system. The newest SimpliSafe Outdoor Camera Series 2 is an incredible addition to their security options. The SimpliSafe Outdoor Camera Series 2 comes with a magnetic mount that is extremely easy to install. It comes with the necessary hardware to get it mounted and running in no-time. One thing I would suggest for folks that are sticking with the magnetic mount is to make sure you mount it high enough to where it is not easily accessible to anyone. If you prefer a slightly more secure option for mounting your camera, Simplisafe also has a permanent mount that the camera screws into. I chose to go this route. Don't get me wrong, the magnetic mount has a strong magnet and all, but I just don't feel comfortable with it. Someone can easily snatch and run. I love having the ability to check on the exterior of our home directly from the Simplisafe app. I also love the fact that they can monitor my home's exterior when someone is detected. It definitely gives you that extra piece of mind. I would definitely recommend the SimpliSafe Outdoor Camera Series 2 to anyone!
