I literally got an empty box shipped to me. No camera inside. Super inconvenient and ridiculous.

We have had our Simplisafe system for years and we've been pretty happy with everything. The only thing that I wasn't really keen about was their indoor camera offerings. For years, the only option has been their standard black, wired camera. Admittedly, the old black camera comes with a fairly long USB power cord, but still, there's times when I want to have a camera in a place where the long black wire wouldn't work.
So I jumped on the option to get one of their new indoor cameras to try out. If you've ever set up a Simplisafe device in the past, then you'll be very familiar with how to set this up. I fired up the Simplisafe app on my phone, went to add a device, selected the camera and we were off to the races.
Out of the box, you'll need to charge the battery for a fairly long time. As I've noticed with Simplisafe's outdoor wireless cameras, it takes a while to charge them fully, but they last for a while with the proper settings.
The camera also comes with an attached swivel base in case you want to wall mount the camera. I chose not to do this because I wasn't entirely sure where I wanted the camera. So it's sitting on top of a cabinet in our kitchen that covers the backdoor, kitchen, and entire family room. If someone's coming it, we'll see them.
This camera also comes with a feature that you can enable if you pay for the monthly Simplisafe monitoring plan. In case of an alarm that's triggered while we're away, Simplisafe can remotely access the camera and verify if police need to be called, which is a nice piece of mind to have. There's also a physical privacy shutter that covers the lens when the camera is not in use, so we didn't get the feeling like we were being observed when we didn't wish to be.
Like the other Simplisafe indoor camera, you can customize your settings. I have this camera set to be active when the alarm is in the Away mode only, mostly because I didn't want it to register our dog as an intruder at night, but there's also another setting in the camera that you can set to have it ignore what it estimates pets to be.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with it. The only real gripe I have is with Simplisafe as a whole, not this device. Simplisafe marketed themselves for years as being HomeKit enabled, but they never cracked it. So rather than continue working on it, they simply stopped. So if you're an Apple HomeKit household, you'll be out of luck.

I have an affinity for SimpliSafe security products and their monitoring services. They have been guarding my home for several years, and I can tell you from experience that, if your alarm goes off, they are never asleep at the wheel. Response is quick, courteous, and caring. This all means they have the bar set high as to products and services, and this new security camera meets that level.
Like all SimpliSafe system components, installation is extremely easy! Using their excellent app, the camera was integrated into the system and operational in minutes. Then, all you need to do is decide on the best spot for locating the camera. With the camera being fully portable (no messy wires), it can be relocated any time you wish.
Other prominent features include:
*Motion detection, with smart person detection,
*24/7 vision with a wide field of view and HD video capture,
*Two-way audio, built-in siren, automated privacy shutter, and more.
This camera is a welcome addition to my already great security system from SimpliSafe. (NOTE: The camera only works with SS’s Gen 3 Security System.) I highly recommend this Smart Alarm without any doubt of its value.

Got this to replace my version 1 indoor camera. Sets up in minutes. Literally just had the app look for a new camera and poof! It was installed and properly calibrated for its position. I have several pets that have free roam of the house, and unfortunately, this camera STILL gets triggered easily by pets, regardless of how I aim the camera. Because of that, I have the camera notify my wife and I first, then we can look at the footage and determine if 911 is warranted or not. 99.999% we just see the cats being mischievous.
Overall, I’m pleased with the improved clarity of the video. It definitely looks better than their previous camera, but I’m not sure if it really warrants a “must upgrade”. Face details come out crystal clear, so you’ll know identifying characteristics of whoever is in your house unwelcome.
The white color definitely helps it blend better on the ceiling or corner wall. Thankfully, they still have the privacy(security shield over the lens to prevent unknown security operators from being voyeurs.

I've been with Simplisafe for many years now, and have owned my current system for probably three or four years. I have two outdoor cameras, three indoor cameras, multiple motion sensors, door sensors, and three keypads all throughout the house. I've been very please with all of them, except the indoor cameras that I've had do require being plugged into the wall and thus are a little less easy to hide in the decor of the house.
The Smart Alarm Wireless Indoor Security Camera improves on the old wired cameras by providing a truly wireless experience. It can be charged via the included cable (you have to have your own power supply) and then set wherever you want. You are no longer limited by the closest wall plug, which really is great.
Set up was super easy. I did have to wait an extra 10 minutes or so because the Simplisafe app informed me that my system needed to have the software updated prior to connecting to the camera. After the update was done, I followed the instructions in the app and added it to my system. No hiccups, no issues, no problems. I allowed it to charge for 5 hours as stated in the directions and then placed it approximately 50' from my base station in an area of the house that did not have a camera in it. Accessing it via the app was quick and easy, I heard the shutter snap open and I got a HD-quality video streamed to my phone. Disconnecting from the camera leads to another snap as the shutter goes closed. Picture quality is great, you can hear noises, and you can talk through the camera no problem. I haven't had to charge the battery yet. It's used just 2% in the last week. Overall extremely pleased with the camera. It can be wall-mounted or placed on a shelf.

If you need a home security system, you cannot go wrong with the Simplisafe system. There is nothing easier to setup and use. We love it. I was so happy they came out with this camera. It is a wonderful addition to out set up. I call it my little R2-D2. It is mobile, has good battery life, has it's own alarm, 2-way audio. Give this thing wheels and AI, and it will take over my house!
As with the entire Simplisafe system, setup is as easy as it gets. Out of the box, the unit is rectangular and petite. It comes with a little stand or you can wall mount it with screws and wall plate. Mounting this thing serves no purpose, in my opinion, as you can move this little guy all over the house. It also comes with a long charging cord which is very rare! Once you have it charged up, you simply push the button and let the base station do the rest. Easy as it gets.
The whole system is as idiot proof as a company could possibly make it. It works exactly as it should and definitely gives some peace of mind when away from the house or when I want to check in on the family.

This simplisafe smart alarm wireless indoor security camera is a new addition to my Simplisafe alarm system. The system I have already included one camera, but I have not been overly pleased with the view from this camera. It is because of this, that I decided to try the new smart alarm wireless indoor camera. This unit comes with a charging cable, but like everything else nowadays, it does not include a charging block. So you will need to provide your own, probably from your cell phone, to charge your camera. The good thing is, unlike my original simplisafe indoor camera, this one does not require you to keep it plugged into a wall socket. This camera has a built in battery, allowing you to mount it about anyplace that is convenient. This camera has the flexibility to be wall mounted or used on a shelf or table, either way works perfectly well. As far as picuture quality, I am very happy with the picture I am getting from thissmart alarm camera.
I have taken some of the features directly from the manufacturer's description so you can see the features this new camera provides. Needless to say, it is a great upgrade to my existing simplisafe monitored alarm system.

The automated privacy shutter provides privacy when you want it and protection when you need it.

Stay in the know around the clock

If you are using a monitored simplisafe alarm system, this camera is well worth the money and something that I would highly recommend.

Great Addition To My Simplisafe System

I have been a 8 year user of Simplisafe and the reason why is right here, new products that work and work perfect every single time. I will always be a Simplisafe user due to the absolute ease of use and installation of every product they sell to use with their system.
The camera was a legit 2 minute install and register within the Simplisafe app, boom, new inside camera to watch the basement door incase someone tries to enter through the basement by breaking out the glass block, a traditions glass break sensor wont grab that noise, I tested it, so, the camera is now our protection.
The video quality is fantastic, better than many plug and play cameras at Best Buy and loads in the app within seconds since their last update to the Android app. Simplisafe also has one of the best teams when you have issues or questions, I called after setting up the camera to ask if my dog would set this one off like my old Arlo indoor and they said no, it will not, and they are correct!
Simplisafe is a great company, afordable, and the BEST and easiest DIY alarm system by far, you will not be disapointed.

Doesn’t work at all. Exchanged it with SimpliSafe and the new doesn’t work either. The product needs to go back to development and start over.
