Posted .Apologies for the issues you've had with your Smoke Detector. From your description, there might be an issue with interference - another wireless signal or a dense physical object might be getting in the way of the signal. If it's not possible to move the Smoke Detector, it might help to move the Base Station to a different spot where the signal has a more direct path.
No support from vendor because bought at best buy

If you have problems, SimpliSafe tech support will not help you because they did not sell you the system. And there is no timely support from Best Buy. You have to wait weeks. Too bad no one warned me.

Posted .Apologies for the experience. Our Smoke Detectors are the photoelectric type - that means they can trigger whenever anything enters the chamber inside. So of course, it's looking for actual smoke, but can also be set off by steam and water vapor, dust, and even small insects.
We suggest keeping the Smoke Detector away from your stove or fireplace, as well as air vents that might blow dust into the unit. It may also help to vacuum around the grill every few months to keep them clear!
