The SimpliSafe Doorbell is just as described in the title — Just OK. For the most part, the Camera does provide situational awareness and adds that extra layer of protection to the SimpliSafe ecosystem. I was just hoping it would be better in some areas that I’m sure the competition is surpassing SimpliSafe in. Otherwise the doorbell is ok. - Motion Detection. While this may be improved in the future with software updates, it is really spotty as of now, and it has been that way since it released a few months ago. Sometimes the doorbell will pick up someone walking in the yard, sometimes it won’t. Cars driving on the nearby road almost always get picked up by the motion detection, which is strange because it will not register an object moving in the yard closer to the camera at times. I’ve played with the sensitivity settings and I haven’t seen much change. Camera quality simply is not that great. It’s not bad, but other doorbells look better. Connection with base station sometimes feels wonky. If you open your app on your phone and try to view the camera sometimes it won’t let you, saying that the camera is “offline” or “disconnected” when it is not. This occurs when trying to view some past recordings as well. I think this issue is one that bugs me the most. Sometimes restarting the app will fix it, sometimes it won’t. Not a huge deal, but the build quality does not seem as high quality as other doorbells. But again, not a huge deal because it is just a doorbell. Not bad, not great, just fine. Overall the doorbell is just ok. It adds the extra layer of protection to your SimpliSafe system. The shortcomings of inconsistencies with motion detection, subpar camera quality, and intermittently the camera not being usable because of the camera being “offline” which forces an app restart makes it overall irritating sometimes with these issues combined. However with all of this said, it is just good enough to keep for the sake of integration with the current SimpliSafe security ecosystem and not look elsewhere. I’m sure most issues this will be improved with future. I do think if you have a SimpliSafe security system this is a good addition. I like being able to monitor what is going on. In the end, for the most part — It works. Also, a side note, after installation my doorbell chime now makes a humming or buzzing noise, but maybe I just need to get my chime replaced.

I’ve had the simplisafe doorbell pro for about a month now and it works really well. Good set-up, clear video, good notification. I like the integration with my other simplisafe cameras in the app. I am waiting for the software update so that the infrared sensor works in conjunction with the motion sensor. Currently had to set motion to low sensitivity because it was notifying me each time a large vehicle drove past. But I love it!!! A little lag in the two way audio. No biggie.

First, I installed a SimpliSafe system in our house. Very comprehensive system, easy to self install, excellent customer service, and no monitoring contract. To better monitor our property, I added the doorbell, and love it. (Note: you can only have a mechanical doorbell for this to work. That means if your bell goes "ding-dong," fine. We had a digital doorbell, meaning it plays a variety of chimes that are recorded, and I had to replace it. No big deal, and worth the $12 to be able to install the video doorbell.) We have a perfect view of the whole front of the house, and have it set to get motion alerts, as well as if someone rings the bell. Pretty easy to install, and the effort was worth it. Very sharp video. We are delighted with the ability to watch things while we are away. Some "minus" points for: having to replace our digital doorbell like any wifi related thing, it can cut out at times. Overall, after doing thorough research on home alarm systems, looking at review, price of the hardware, ability to get reasonable monitoring, and flexibility of the system, I think SimpliSafe is the best.

This is an excellent camera doorbell. I've had experience with the original Ring and this is a nice improvement at 1080p and HDR. Notifications are quick and seem to work accurately. I haven't had any issues with false alerts or missed alerts with my motion settings set to medium. I already subscribe to the interactive monitoring plan through Simplisafe so when I needed a new smart doorbell it was an easy choice. If you aren't a simplisafe security subscriber I think Ring Pro is probably a better a choice although I still have a hard time justifying the extra cost. I have a Nest thermostat as well so I heavily considered the Nest doorbell as well, but I really didn't want to add yet another monthly subscription. Installation was very easy and just worked. I installed in brick and had to drill only 1 new hole. Previously when I had a ring I had to do 4 new holes and left the Ring behind just so I wouldn't have to display a bunch of unsightly drill marks when selling the house. For this I just connected the two old wires to the new doorbell and turned the power back on and it worked. No extra chime connectors or anything like that. Way easier than I thought it would be. I wish the app was a little more attractive, and the timeline redesigned, but it does work and gets the job done effectively. I have never had a crash or issue on the iOS app. My only complaint is that the video aspect ratio 16:9 with fisheye doesn't quite capture everything. 9 times out of ten everything happening on my porch can be viewed, but the Ring aspect ratio of 4:3 with fisheye was able to a little more vertical height which I liked. The Simplisafe has a slightly smaller window and captures a lot of unnecessary brick. It's definitely not a deal breaker, but the one small drawback I've encountered. Picture quality is great, 2 way communication works as advertised, and connecting with my existing Simplisafe account was painless. Anyways, I think if you have Simplisafe already this is a no-brainer. If you don't this is a excellent value and I would not count it out. If I wasn't worried about a new subscription the Ring Pro has some nice additional features.

A friend and I are tech-nerds and sometimes compete to have the best smarthome solutions. Recently he installed another product that was impressive in its functionality. I picked up the SimpliSafe Pro to see how it compared. Frankly, and this is a compliment, I can’t distintinguish the two products in terms of their “mechanical” features and functionality. I installed the device and was up-and-running in under 10 minutes. It has a great field of vision. That was important because my existing doorbell location is a little low and perpendicular to the door. I can see what I need to see and due to the heat sense technology, I rarely get unnecessary notification from passing pets and cars. The bonus to SimpliSafe is that they also offer a very affordable home surveillance system that is not required, but can be added for whole house security and monitoring. My one gripe? I always have one...I hope technology improves so these become shallower. They protrude enough to be an easy brush or even target for removal.

Im a fan of Simplisafe. The video camera as well as the doorbell works beautifully. I had to buy a new one because somwthing happened that I couldn't figure out amd didnt want too sk I just got a new one. Im happy with it.

This doorbell cam has exceeded my expectations in every way. Video is clear with a nice wide angle. The night vison work great. Only a 2 second delay between motion detection and notification on my phone. Records about 2 seconds before the person comes into view. Works flawlessly with the SimpliSafe security system and app. Logs all recordings on your timeline and they are even downloadable. Couldn’t be happier!

I'm going to make this one kinda short as I've found that this video doorbell is good, but not one really worth your cash. The SimpliSafe-Pro Smart WiFi Video Doorbell is cool, but not up to the usual SimpliSafe standards, in my opinion. I like that it's relatively easy to install ( if you've got an active doorbell already. It's basically a face swap...Basically. The problem doesn't lie in the installation, whoever. But in it's performance. Normally, I would add a link to a full online review to the end of these, but honestly, this needs a video to do it justice. Not really a problem , but again, I didn't do a video, because of the unreliability of the video playback on the app. This thing is supposed to deter criminals( which I'm sure it'll do at 1st, but after seeing it in action, I found that the delay between interactions are far too long. And to be honest, if I had a package on my porch, it would be long gone before I uttered a word. I'm not saying that it's useless. not at all, but what I am saying is, I wouldn't trust this unit to keep my belongings safe. Simpli put... there are better products out there. The app is just too slow for me to safely recommend this to home owners.

Great if you are replacing an existing wired doorbell. Not recommended for adding new system.

I purchased this camera over other brands because I already have a SimpliSafe alarm system. The choice was a no brainer because I also have the complete monitoring from SimpliSafe and it includes the cloud storage of recordings. I have always been happy with my SimpliSafe system, the customer service, and monitoring have been excellent! The video doorbell installs easily in 15 minutes with zero issues. The quality of the camera is very good even in low light. I do wish the motion detection zones could be customized a little better, instead of low, med, or high, but hopefully in future upgrades this will be corrected. Overall I am very happy with the product and SimpliSafe alarm system!

I had a Ring2 doorbell for a couple years and it worked flawlessly until recently. Wasn't the lack of voltage (hard wired) Research lead to too many WiFi signals in the proximity of the doorbell. So I decided to remove the Ring2 and Install the SimpliSafe Doorbell, I have a SimpliSafe security system so it integrated into the system flawlessly. Installation was pretty simple, the video is great even night vision. It does lack some features that the Ring2 had but I'm very happy with the SimpliSafe doorbell.

The angled wedge that comes with it is only to adjust the doorbell up or down, not left or right. Unfortunately this doorbell picks up more of the wall then my doorway and sidewalk because of where my doorbell is installed. Hopefully SimpliSafe will come up with a wedge that will adjust their doorbell to the left or right. That being said, someone is selling a wedge that is compatible with SimpliSafe doorbells on eBay for $11. I may order one and see if I can get it to work! The quality of the audio and video of this doorbell is really good and so far I’m really happy with it. Super simple to install also!

I think this is, in general, a good product. Installation was easy, connecting to WiFi was easy and using the App was easy. My issue is with the consistency. I live on a street with an elementary school so I expect a lot of notifications. My issue is when I get notifications of cars driving by my house all day long, delivering crystal clear video, yet someone rings my doorbell and I get an error message that says camera disconnected. Literally the only time I would need the camera it doesn’t work. The doorbell did alert to the delivery person walking to the door, and unfortunately I received a message that said “ no video.” The reason I chose SimpliSafe over other brands is I was planning on purchasing other home security products. I have disconnected the doorbell twice in the 2 months I’ve had it but that fix is intermittent at best.

For the purchase price hands down this is an amazing product. Crystal clear images, amazing night vision everything you can get with more expensive brands for half the cost and setup was a cinch.

Installation is a breeze. Alerts your smartphone when it senses someone at the door. Expect some false alerts if you're in a busy Street. Live camera works well. It's disappointing that you cannot look at the video log if you miss the app notification without paying a monthly subscription. Arlo provides 7 days of free cloud recording. I wish simplisafe provided at least a day of free recording without subscription

It's a nice piece and pretty easy to install. It has a good high quality picture. It worked with my existing doorbell wiring. It did however make my original doorbell chime make a buzzing noise. But if you call Simplisafe, they will send out the piece you need to fix that issue free of charge. Other cons I have are that you will get a notification every time you walk out your door. And you'll need to adjust the settings so that it doesn't notify you every time a bird flys by. All of this is easy to do. I wish that it would make the base station chime instead of the original doorbell. Overall, I highly recommend this product.
