They do not offer a self-monitoring plan for free and the only way you will know if the water sensor triggers is by looking through the “timeline” of device triggers through the app.

Posted .If you're not ready for Monitoring Service, you can still downgrade your system to Basic App Control, which allows you to control your system and receive push notifications for alarms through the SimpliSafe app - at no additional cost. You might need to make sure that Push Notifications are enabled for your device in the SimpliSafe app settings.

Terrible return policy I tried to return this as I was able to get a discount from the manufacturer…..buyer beware….Best Buy has a return policy of 15 days. I’m stuck with extra sensors now.
