Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the Trim Plus Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell's excellent video quality, ease of installation, and reliable night vision. Many also appreciate the user-friendly design and convenient features like motion detection and free cloud storage. The wide field of view is frequently praised for its comprehensive coverage. While some noted the device's plastic construction, the positive feedback on other aspects significantly outweighs this concern.

Installation: Easy Motion Detection: Too many false positives. With no adjustable motion detection Zones, a tree in the line of sight, and frequent wind, the motion detection was useless. It also failed to detect our mail being delivered frequently. Loading time: not sure if it was more or less than you should expect. But, to get it to work at all after a few months I had to make sure to never tap on the notification itself to pull up the video, but open my phone up, find the app, and open there to see the video when somebody rang the doorbell. Otherwise it would never load. 2 way conversation: I don't know that we ever managed to make it work properly. We could hear them but we don't know if they could understand/hear us. Stored video - the part that actually worked. And we didn't even have to pay for it. I'm guessing there are better ways to capture and store video though if everything else about this device doesn't work. The doorbell itself randomly died a couple months short of a year of owning it.

So, the first month that I had this doorbell it was great. Had to play around with a sensitivity 2 motion a bit, but that was to be expected. Then, all of a sudden, it just stops detecting motion all together. I tried to reboot the doorbell and it works for maybe a few days. I contacted Honeywell customer support and every time I tried their line always had the same message that they were experiencing a higher than normal call volume and that they would call you back. They did, almost 24 hours later. This happened multiple times and they would call me when I was at work and could not talk. They never left any specific me information on how to fix my problem they only asked me to call back and then I would be put in the same ridiculous routine again. Finally, I got disgusted unexplained 2 Best Buy what my experience was and I exchanged it for the ring doorbell Pro which I have been very happy with so far.

This doorbell will not work with alarm.com, which is the reason I bought it. also with the skybell hd app there is no way to download video! Also no way to change the tone on phone so you know it's the doorbell and not just a text message.

Biggest pro is that there is no subscription fee. However, after 1 year of use I think this officially gets a "do not recommend". The app is glitchy and is essentially never updated--I get motion alerts without any video being recorded, my phone is frequently unable to view live data, filtering videos seems broken, etc. From reading online, seems like Skybell is either going out of business or will no longer be supporting this product (at which point, I presume the free cloud storage will shut down, rendering this useless?).

After 5+ hours of install time, troubleshooting and no call back or answer from tech support for 2 hours during their open hours I received an email after they were closed, "sounds like the unit isn't getting enough power, get a voltmeter and test your transformer". I already knew I had power and it was over 16 volts at the doorbell and at the transformer. They didn't listen to the problem description, the unit functions at random, it shows green, doorbell works once or not at all, video may or may not record, works once and then goes back to flashing red & blue. So now it sits because they have no tech support on Sunday and I'm sure the next thing they will say is poor internet signal, well, I also checked that, strong signal inside and outside the house, Spectrum 100 service. Wifi router also works throughout the house and sits almost in a direct line behind the skybell approximately 25 feet away on the same level. Not worth the headache.

The SkyBell was very nice looking but I could not get it to connect to my wifi. I gave up trying so I just had to return it. I was very disappointed because I liked that I would not have to pay to have my video for six or seven days.

A smart entry-level video doorbell with great features and differentiators from its competition. This newest model is slimmer than its previous version and is supposed to fit the narrowest of the doorframes. It is very easy and simple to setup. One of the best feature is free video recording (7 days of storage), unlike Ring or Nest, etc., which requires subscription. This doorbell also supports motion sensor, live monitoring, multiple device support, 2 way audio, activity history, quiet mode, 180 degreed of visibility, customizable image quality (480p, 720p, 1080p), weather resistant, etc. Apart from this, the two best features I personally like are: the doorbell has full color night vision instead of infrared (black and white) and it is pretty good. The second is SkyBell comes with theft guarantee. If it is stolen, SkyBell will replace it for free. This doorbell can be wired using existing doorbell wiring and no special connections are required. You do need the SkyBell app to receive the notifications and for monitoring. You can also integrate it with IFTTT, Nest, Alexa (limited), but doesn't work with Siri or Google. Overall, this is a very good standalone video doorbell with no subscription and easy to install and use.

I would give to 0 stars if possible. The motion sensor is a joke... You have to be exactly in straight line in front of the sensor to have motion detected.. if you walk from side and even lift a parcel thats a little offside the cam will not even register anything. I tested the cam with 5 different positions on my porch and lifted the parcel and on 4 of those occasions camera didnt detect me :( It went straight back to Best buy for a refund!

I have been thinking about getting a security system that included a doorbell camera so I was excited to try this out. It was surprisingly simple to install (I’m not the most handy of people). The video footage is crystal clear and the night version is great. The only negative part (if you could call it that) is this isn’t a full security system so if that’s what you’re looking for you may want look at other options or see if this can be incorporated into your security plan.

The SkyBell Trim Plus Smart WiFi video doorbell solved a huge problem, actually three, that we had with a previous video doorbell. The first being the wider visual range. Because of that alone, I’m satisfied with SkyBell. I no longer need to search for a side to side angle adapter. Our doorbell doesn’t face the street like most doorbells, instead it’s on the side wall facing inwards instead of forward. With the old one we couldn’t see the street, sidewalk, steps or driveway so unless you walked up right in front of the door we wouldn’t know you were there(which will lead me into the second problem, in a second). That particular company only offered an up and down angle adapter (crazy, right!?!) instead of side to side. So this SkyBell video doorbell was heaven sent right off the bat. I can now see all of those things I couldn’t see before. The second issue this doorbell SOLVED for us right off the bat is it’s responsiveness and ability to record without being forced into a contract or payment option of some sort. First let me touch on the responsiveness. It’s fast, real fast. As soon as you or an object appears in range SkyBell will notify you. There is barely a delay, more like a fraction of a second, from when it sees you or when the SkyBell doorbell is rang to when it hits your phone. Once it notifies you and you tap it, it takes you straight into the SkyBell app and to the view live screen. Which made me ecstatic. With the other one we happily replaced with this, it would be 4-5 sec delay and the slow notification wouldn’t even open the app once you tapped on it. You would have to go to the app and when the app opened, it took you to a useless screen where you would then have to swipe and tap to get to the view screen. Now onto recording. The 3rd issue the SkyBell video doorbell solved for us, was the recording. And once again a huge boxed was ticked off. The ability of this doorbell to record moments like when someone comes in range (which you can set given their options), rings the doorbell or when you just want to take a peak outside is incredible. You can set the sensitivity of what it will notify you on or record. So you won’t get a million pointless hits to your phone. There are NO CONTRACTS OR FEES TO DO SO. With the one we replaced, we weren’t able to see anything. So by the time the app finally opened and we got to the right screen, the person would be gone and there was no recording of who was there, and because of the angle we never knew who or what made the doorbell go off in the first place. Most other doorbells offer this service for free for a limited recording but not that one, we would have to pay to view everything even snippets. That’s the MAJOR reason we needed this SkyBell video doorbell, and by George it ticked this box off with no problem. I can go back and view who was at my door at anytime WITHOUT issue or fees. Like I mentioned the wider angle for viewing is great. The nighttime view is also great because it’s in color, no black and white, but you get crisp and clear color video. You can change the color of the lights for the doorbell if that’s your thing. There are several settings to choose from to customize your doorbell for your needs. You can also change the quality of video depending upon your WiFi and how strong it is, so you’re able to view and record video at 1080p. And yes that video is very clear. It wasn’t difficult to setup at all. However, after about a week I started getting a message that said, “Stream cannot be established, please try again later.” So I decided to change the quality video to 720p(best) and the stream worked again and then I put it back on to 1080p and it was fine. Our WiFi connection is pretty strong so I’m not sure why we received that message. Another issue we ran into is that we can’t connect to Nest. We get through the first one or two screens but when we hit the allow button through the app the screen is just white. Nothing happens and we can’t go further. Also, It’s not the prettiest most modern looking doorbell, and it’s made with a plastic case, so at first it doesn’t seem of quality, but it is, it’s very sturdy and feels solid once on the wall. It’s also slimmer than others so it has a sleeker profile. I would highly recommend this doorbell. It simply WORKS and if you read all of the specs you will see it is a great quality doorbell, that may give you everything you need without the fees and contracts to be the first line of defense for your home. I am very happy with SkyBell.

This is the perfect item to round off any home security system. For starters the Skybell video doorbell comes with everything in the box to mount it. The only thing you’ll need is a drill. Installation was straight forward and extremely simple. Getting the app and setting up this doorbell couldn’t have been anymore simple. Upon completion of setup, immediately I was able to see how the added security of this doorbell would put me at ease when leaving my home for extended periods of time. This little gem alerts me when someone approaches my door and automatically records what’s going on. I also have the ability to interact with said person. I wish I had installed this item months if not years ago. I will definitely be talking about this with my family friends. I recommend anyone looking for added security to their home to install on these, you can’t go wrong.

I recently installed the Skybell Trim Plus Smart Video Doorbell in my home and I couldn't be happier. Setup was quick an easy and only took about 15 minutes total. I suggest downloading the APP first and watching the videos before installing. The setup through the wifi was quick and I didn't have any hiccups at all. Now whenever my doorbell rings I get a notification and it allows me to live video chat with the person at my door. I can speak to them and they can speak to me and it's all surprisingly clear and easy to use. The video is wide angle so you can see everything around the door area. If you couple this product with something like a smart door lock you can have UPS delivery guys leaving packages inside your home when you aren't there. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a Video doorbell for your home.

This Skybell video doorbell is everything you really need in a video doorbell. It is simple to install and took no longer than 5 minutes. The app is very intuitive and lets you customize notifications. The two way speaker has a bit of a lag but you can clearly hear the person speaking through the door bell and vice versa. I didn't have any problems trying to communicate with someone who rang the doorbell . It was easy to let the pizza delivery guy that I'd be at the door soon. I particularly love this video doorbell because of the recordings. You are actually able to view the footage and not have to subscribe to a monthly plan. If you don't want to pay the extra fee just to have a recording then this is the doorbell is the way to go. The app is seamless and the recordings are HD with good enough night vision.
