Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the Trim Plus Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell's excellent video quality, ease of installation, and reliable night vision. Many also appreciate the user-friendly design and convenient features like motion detection and free cloud storage. The wide field of view is frequently praised for its comprehensive coverage. While some noted the device's plastic construction, the positive feedback on other aspects significantly outweighs this concern.

4.5 stars I received the Sky Bell Trip Plus at no cost for an honest review so here are my pros and cons: Pros: -It is small -Very Easy to install (10 minutes, at most) -Discrete and compact, fits in most places, compared to competitor -Very light-weight -FREE service (no subscription fees required) -Intuitive app -Different video quality settings -Wide angle (180 degrees) captures a good large area -Adjustable color light settings -Motion sensor has a decent reaction time. It seems slightly better to me than competitors I've used in the past. -Good night vision quality. It uses the white light on the upper part of the faceplate to illuminate the area so you can see color. Cons: -Though it offers 1080 resolution, if you want it, you need a fast broadband with a great router. I have 100mbps down and 10 up and the best setting was 720 (good). The settings are: 1080 720 better 720 good 480 -When you want to view the doorbell live, the light goes on. This is a con in my opinion because I wish it was more discrete so as to nobody getting alerted that I'm watching my front door. -No built in battery in case of a power outage or a power surge. Probably a price to pay for the smaller design. Overall I do like it and I do recommend it, especially if you want one with no-fee subscription.

    A very nice Wi-Fi Doorbell

The Skybell Trim Plus doorbell is our new Wi-Fi-enabled doorbell. The Skybell is loaded with features that include the following: - High-Definition Video - Color night vision - On-demand Video - Two-way audio - Motion Sensor - Video recording In unpackaging the unit, I found that it was lacking two components that came included with our original doorbell. They are the Trim Plus Wedge Mount and the Digital Doorbell Adapter, both of which can be purchased from the Skybell accessories webpage for an additional cost. The Trim Plus Wedge Mount is important because it provides up to 12% more viewing angle. In my case, our doorbell is situated to the right of the door rather than adjacent to the door. As such, the camera won’t be able to see far enough to the left to capture pictures of people approaching the front door. The wedge addresses this issue by angling the doorbell more to the left for a better view. Since this wedge did not come included with the doorbell, I’ll have to purchase one from Skybell on-line before formally completing the installation. The Digital Doorbell Adapter is the second item not included with the Trim Plus, and it may not be needed for all installations. I did, however, need one for my first doorbell. Essentially, it makes a digital door chime that’s compatible with the Skybell Trim Plus. The video from the doorbell is saved to the internet to a cloud service provided by Skybell, and at no cost to you. Plus, videos stored to the cloud are protected in the event of a problem with the doorbell itself or if someone successfully steals your unit. The Trim Plus is very sleek and light weight. It has the following dimensions: 4.8” H, 1.44” W, 1.13” D. And, it only weighs 2oz. It is rated to work at minus 40 degrees to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. I found the installation process to be very simple. Feed you doorbell wires through a hole in the mounting plate, secure the mounting plate with screws and anchors provided with the Trim Plus to the wall, and then snap the Trim plus onto the mounting plate. I didn’t have to deal with the door chime so that was a hardy thumbs-up. The doorbell provides a full 180-degree view of its surroundings, meaning that it’ll show you what’s directly in front of the camera and to the sides. Still, the 12% wedge I mentioned before will have to be purchased due to our front door layout. The Skybell also has the ability of taking a still-photo of any visitors, a handy home security feature. And one of the best features is that there are no subscription fees in order to use this product, even for your cloud storage. That is, unlike the $50 annual fee I pay each year for my original doorbell’s cloud service. Oh, and the Skybell can be integrated to Alexa, Amazon Echo, and Google Assistant. The Skybell App offers some settings so you can configure it to meet your needs. Like turning on/off the Indoor and Outdoor Chimes. It also lets you turn on/off motion detection with sensitivity settings for low, medium, and high. Motion detection will detect the presence of a person standing relatively close to the Skybell who may not press the Skybell button. Image quality defaulted to 720p, although it can go as high as 1080p. Speaker volumes are also adjustable with settings of low, medium, and high. While the image quality was good at 720p and 1080p, the video appeared to be taken with a fisheye lens – almost like you’re looking through a magnifying lens. I’m not saying that this is bad or good; it’s just different from what I’m used to. One other note about video resolution. My original camera can use up to 120gb of internet bandwidth each month streaming to the cloud. If your internet provider has a max on how much internet bandwidth you can use each month and that number is low, you might want to save the video at a lower resolution like 720p or lower. Anyways, I’m going to order the wedge I mentioned above so I can install the Skybell permanently. All in all, I’m looking forward to using this unit permanently.

    Not "user friendly"!

This item works great when connected to a micro-usb for set up, but once installed the wifi disconnects within 30 minutes and won't reconnect! My wifi signal strength is strong, the DC voltage through the wiring is correct and everything checks out...it just won't stay connected. One would expect it to at least function as a doorbell, but after a few days, it randomly started "ringing" our doorbell at various times throughout the day and then 1 time for 15 minutes straight at 2 AM until I could disconnect it. The picture and sound are clear when it works, the problem is it doesn't work consistently.

Works well when doorbell is pushed

I have this doorbell via Guardian Protection. It does not work well to notify of motion near the door, yet alerts with cars in a distance. I have tried tweaking the settings, but gave up and put a Ring Floodlight Camera overhead to back this up. Since it may be defective, I will note that I recommend, but I would look at other reviews and other products and their reviews.

I tried 3 of these units all of them were glichy would not pick up unless a foot or less away the last 2 started sending false notices, called tech support supposedly sent frimware nothing worked I like the features & free storage but that's worth noting if the unit doesn't work. Moving on to a different brand.
