Big outlook not worth the money needs flexibility
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not very many options available for convenience. For instance you can’t have recurring events that are adjustable like a nurse works 3 shifts a week on different days not every week is the same, if there was an options to edit events to make adding 7am-7pm events on certain days and an option to delete make one day if needing to switch days without having to delete the entire event and start over. It’s not thought out very well it’s basically like a big outlook calendar which is already free on iPhone, if I’m paying 200 bucks for a nice digital calendar then I would expect lots of features you can’t even see the whole month’s events because the fonts are just 3 sizes. If you have more than 4 things in one day you have to click on each day individually just to see what’s going on the particular day.

Welcome to Organization, taming multi-device synch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having a multi-platform household with voice command devices from 3 major platforms, and a couple of screens from one of those, but mobile phones and laptops from a different platform is a recipe for chaos. So having one place to combine and collate, organize, and put it all on one timeline seems like magic. Certainly calendars are the backbone of the product, with date, time, and the person involved via color coding is clearly displayed, at a glance. Items can be added via your phone, the Skylight mobile app, or on the frame itself. You can quickly with a single click see a list of all of your own schedule entries It was actually easy to use the physical frame for entry, as the touchscreen keyboard was quite accurate, and gave a confirmatory “click” with each touch. Calendars and persons were color coded to make it easy to focus on the items that were your most pressing concerns. This is much superior to having to visually scan all the entries, or to require your family to use different colors Dry Erase pens for the white board. Grocery list to add items through the week, which pairs nicely with the Meal Planner which can announce for all viewers the entrée for upcoming dinners. Chore/project/task list, for the children or handy persons in the household, as reminders and a scorecard, as they can be checked off once completed. These can be assigned a “weekly” status to automate repeating actions so that memory does not whittle down oversight of the list, and keeps the list authentic. The calendar will import your entries automatically from any one of your devices, once you have set up a synch with your calendars. Whatever device you are using to enter a new item: your phone (Android or iPhone), your computer (iCal on Apple, Google Calendar, or Outlook on Windows), Yahoo! calendar, Chromebook, or the free Cozi family calendar app. I did note that having a “shared” calendar with my spouse, and having both my phone and her phone linked to the Skylight seemed to automatically duplicate on the Frame two entries of the same event. I need to experiment how to fix this. I am supposing it can be remedied by removing the linkage from one of the two phones to the Skylight. I will query customer support for how best to do this. The iPhone mobile app was very easy to install and activate the Skylight Frame. All of it seemed very well engineered. A new version was available in only a couple of days after I had installed, upgrading to version 1.61.1. Looking at the version history it seems they are very active with updates; at least twice a month! That (to me, at least) speaks to a responsive and engaged support team; although it could also be due to an initial app that was plagued with lots of bugs, I suppose. However the very high satisfaction Star count on the App Store seemed to support the former theory. There were over 32,000 reports on the App Store, with a score of 4.8 out of 5! So that speaks volumes to me about the ease and power of the device and its linked app. The mobile app is synchronized with all the other calendars, so you get real time updates as events are added or altered, to the Frame and any linked devices. So a new item on the grocery list shows up on your phone Skylight app, even if you are already at the grocery store when it is added. Color categories makes it easy to discern which items need your personal awareness You can choose to view a day, week, or month view. Scrolling forward in a day or to the next month, is a swipe of the finger on the screen, all very intuitive. The Frame is very substantial, rather heavy, giving a sense of a sturdy and durable build quality. However, that also makes me a bit hesitant about wall mounting, although wall anchors and stout screws were provided. The metal “kick stand” was well machined and had well placed padding to keep it stable and to avoid scratching of a wooden table top. installing the mobile app and linking the various iCal calendars (Apple products were my only foray, no Android phones in our home) was very simple. The screen warned to allow for a certain length of time for the synchronization to finish, so I just let it run and came back to it later. Linking my wife’s calendars and installing the app on her phone was very easy, and the entries she makes on the phone’s calendar (the app she is used to) automatically arrive on the Skylight App and Frame, without having to change her routine or learn a new system. Almost magic. There is a subscription option, named Skylight Photo Plus plan, that I have not used. This Plan allows the Calendar Frame to be an automatic sequential digital photo frame, similar to the many such items for this function. There is, with this $39 annual extra subscription, the ability to send photos and video clips to a remote frame via email or the app. You can also add captions to your photos, but at the expense of some of the real estate used for the photograph. The Plus Plan also adds the “Magic Import” function. The import option allows you to add important school dates to your calendar by simply forwarding any email or PDF containing dates. Then remotely Skylight will automatically convert the dates from the text into events on your Calendar. The monthly fee for this was my stumbling block to activating it, since the other smart displays that we have in our house have linked photo galleries that do NOT charge a monthly fee. You can send photos to the Skylight App with the basic frame, without paying for the Plus Plan. That way you can explore the photo feature on your own, before you commit for the extra features. But if you try to view these on your Skylight Frame, with the tempting “Photos” icon along the left edge, you get a paywall explaining that you need to subscribe. You are able to send your photos to anyone who has a Skylight Calendar Frame. So you could keep the whole family up to date on your tribe and activities. I am assuming that they would need to pay the monthly fee as well; so a gift that requires them to shell out $40/year might be a mixed blessing. Just be aware, unless you pay for the first couple of years… The photos can be sent via the Skylight app, with the choice of either your phone’s camera for a live shot, or selecting from the photo archive on your device. Or you can go to your photo library and email it to them via an attachment sending it to: <your calendar name>@ourskylight.com . This could make the Skylight Frame a cherished gift to the extended family. The photo montage feature versus the calendar view is toggled on/off with a single tap of the settings gear icon in the upper right corner. And the screen can be dimmed off via a schedule easily set. In summary, this is the best I’ve seen in a synchronized calendar and organization tool for a multi-user group. The add-on option of a smart and flexible digital photo frame for both still photos, with captions, and video clips is optional, but would become more compelling if your remote family members also had Skylight Frame/Calendars. I would definitely recommend this to a friend, and am sending my daughter one for their family with three sons in the middle school/high school range!

Excellent Smart Calendar with Room for Improvement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My family really relies on using our digital calendar to add all the things going on in our lives, events, and more. The Skylight Calendar brings a stylish yet minimalist way to bring that to the forefront of your home and it's been really great to use! PROS: - Unboxing showcased a nice tablet like device with a few mounting / stand options for where you want to locate it. The smart calendar is plug in operated so it has to be plugged in at all times so you know. - Setup is really easy but it is essential you have Skylight's companion app. That is how you will import your calendar and set everything up. But all in all a smooth easy setup process! - Once setup, the Skylight Calendar looks fantastic in our home. It's nice and bright (you can manually adjust or auto adjust) and the colors of different events or tasks pop on the screen. - On the calendar, I like the different views you can have (month, week, schedule, etc) so you can get the immediate next few days picture or the big monthly picture. - Something subtle but really nice to me, the Skylight calendar syncs colors from my Gmail calendar to the Skylight calendar. As in if I put all my "sports" things as yellow in Gmail, it will mark them yellow in the Skylight app. Something a lot of other third party calendar apps have issues with for some reason. - The Chore and task list is also a really nice feature that I think looks great and is easy to use! Of course you can update these lists on your phone or on the tablet directly. CONS: - I really think the Skylight is a nice device, but when it comes down to it, this is a $300 tablet that shows you your calendar, chores, and lists. Which I think is great, but I think it has room to do so much more than it currently can. At the time some of the things I think it is missing - being able to draw messages, syncing task list with your Apple / Google task list, dark mode, being able to stream TV/Movies/Music, building out the app so you can update the Skylight device settings from your phone, and more customization. - All of my "issues" though are simply things I think Skylight could do via app updates so that is a positive however! BOTTOM LINE: - The Skylight Calendar is a great way to visualize all the things my family is up and keeps us more organized while looking high quality doing so. I think their is room for improvements by adding more functionality to the device - but for now it still does exactly what I need it to do!

A great electronic calendar
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Skylight Calendar is a great electronic calendar. Paired with an app that works quite well we now have a family calendar on the wall in thr kitchen. The calendar is powered by an electrical plug. The cord is quite long making it fairly certain you can mount it near any receptacle. It comes with a hefty counter stand or an equally well made wall attachment. We mounted ours on the wall so that it can be seen daily. The calendar is 15 inch wide. The touch screen function is flawless. The colors are very rich. The fontvis clear and crisp. Calendar entries can be made through the app, linked with the major calendars including Google and Samsung calendar. The calendar links to you by wifi. You can hand type calendar entries right from the calendar itself. The calendar comes with the ability to color code entries for different family members. The calendar is very attractive. It is bright and comes with light controls. Other functions can have the calendar go into a set sleep mode to save energy. Unfortunately, Skykight hides some functions beyond a paywall. For some people that may not be a problem. To me, it is aggravating to own products that I must continually pay for to use all functions. For me it is a disappointment resulting in a 1 star deduction. Overall I like the calendar very much. It is very popular in our house. Just know for some features you will pay a monthly or annual fee. The calendar features are free for your purchase price. The photos and that go behind the paywall. If you can live with that, and I can, so I recommend it.

My Personal Assistant
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must say I was super excited to see a digital calendar like skylight that can be placed anywhere in my home. I thought it was a wonderful concept! Throughout the years I have been normally accustomed to utilizing my mobile device's calendar to try to stay organized. I have even tried to have those wall decal calendars that can be placed wherever you want and then you can write with a dry erase marker what you have planned throughout the month. I barely used it, which was a waste! In a modern world where everything is much more digital who has the time to hand write all of the to-do list, chores and all of the important appointments, meetings and anything that's planned for the month/months ahead? Definitely not me! I have three kids and my day to day week to week schedule can be quite busy! The skylight calendar has become my personal assistant. I like that I was able to wall mount my skylight calendar and it's great that you can also have it as a desktop. Set up was super simple! I immediately downloaded the skylight app and was able to sync my gmail account to the calendar. I really like that with my gmail and the skylight being synced if I'm on the go anything I add to my phone's calendar; it is immediately on my skylight calendar. It's also great that the app allows you to add your to-do list and chores. The app is really helpful! My kids like seeing the calendar and learning about our upcoming plans, appointments. My five year old daughter is learning about the days of the week and the months as well as time. This calendar has been very helpful in many ways! The only con is that to have photos on the skylight calendar you have to pay for a subscription. Other than that the calendar by itself is well worth it! It is definitely keeping me much more organized and it's making the process of adding things to my calendar fun as well as the to-do lists and chores.

Fabulous Idea and Execution
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am in love with this Skylight Calendar 15" touchscreen smart calendar. This calendar can do so much more than just be an electronic calendar that syncs to your smartphone's calendar, other calendars, if you have the URL to direct it to, or if none of those apply you, can do direct entry into the Skylight calendar. My husband is a retired 71 year old that does not have a smartphone, but nevertheless has all sorts of appointments and he was always asking me to tell him what was scheduled for the day. Well, he can now see all of his schedule on this device since it is centrally located on my kitchen counter. By the way, you use different colored dots to categorize the appointments for the events and appointments within your household. Therefore, no matter how many individuals, pets, elderly parents, etc. you wish to track, this display has an easy method to chart and display all the events and appointments that are relevant to one's life. Where to begin. So, the product comes with a 15" screen, an electric power adapter that connects into your wall's socket, a quick-start guide, and 2 ways to display this device-either by an easel-like stand that attaches to the back of the unit or a plate with screws and anchors that can be mounted to the wall and thereby used to hang the frame. I opted to use the easel-like stand to make it portable The physical set up, as well as software, and connection to WIFI were seamless and easy. Most of these aforementioned items and processes are fairly intuitive. Beware that this is another app-guided product so if for some reason the owner does not have a smartphone or loses their phone, that might be a no go or a no use period until the phone is replaced. In fact, there is a barcode to scan to get the app on page 4 of the quick start guide and this works for all makes of phones. As you proceed through the account set up, you will need to use not only your own email for receipt of messages of set up, but also the receipt of an electronic version of the "User Manual" that is very detailed that I saved to my desktop computers at home and work for ease of access. You also need to create a user id that ends with @ our skylight.com. Almost as soon as you are progressing through the set up, the tutorial will ask you if you wish to purchase a photo plus plan, discounted for an annual payment vs. monthly payments, to make this not only a calendar, but also a digital frame that goes into a slideshow presentation when in screensaver mode. Pictures can be emailed to the Skylight calendar or uploaded through the mobile app, which is what I do. Oh, you can also add photo subtitles to make it fun and share the photos with friends and family by text, email, or even print. These photos can either come from the gallery or you can take a new photo right then. A simple tap on the screen takes it back from screensaver back to calendar. This subscription can be canceled at any time. A couple of quick impressions. On the back page of my Quick Start Up guide, there is an error in directions for Multiple Calendar Views that drove me buggy until I called the toll free 855 customer service number that I Googled for Skylight. You can adjust your calendar's display to either daily, weekly, or monthly . However, It says that in order to do so, the adjustment is in the top left corner. No, it is in the top right corner and with a simple tap or touch on the arrow facing down, it expands into daily, weekly, or monthly to which you pick which one that you prefer and then you touch calendar on the left side of the screen to lock in your choice. This calendar also can display and chart the progression of chores and whose responsibility they are, and the creation of customizable lists for groceries, to-do, etc. that is then synced to the Skylight phone app so those lists then become portable as you go about your day outside of the home or work, wherever you set up this device. The only somewhat negative I feel is that I believe that the $39.99 annual photo plan fee that I paid is high for a digital frame and after so many years it will cost quite a bit to make this device be multi-functional. There is a 2 year warranty and unlimited access to Skylight's toll free 855 number if you have tech issues or set up problems for no fee. That is a big plus for me, too.

A must have!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Skylight Calendar has made my life run so much smoother. Bouncing from work, school, kids, and drs appt can definitely get really hectic and stressful. Having The Skylight Calendar has really helped me stay focused and organized. Adding events, and chores was very simple. The Calendar is easy to use and displays everyone's schedule. You can color code so you know who is who. The app is also helpful because from there you can add events, delete, and edit without doing it from the calendar device itself. You can also get notifications if you want. The cool feature is that everyone can sync in and add events to the calendar. This is amazing since you don’t have to constantly ask, they can just add it. The Skylight calendar can be mounted on the wall or set it on the counter. I went ahead and set it up on the wall by my desk. There is a subscription you can get for $3.99(I purchased it just to try it) which allows you to send the pictures that you have on your phone or videos and they appear on the display of the calendar, for $3.99, it's a bit much and definitely not necessary. For the price point of this device that should’ve been already included. The display is nice and big enough, the touchscreen is precise. It also displays time and weather conditions. I recommend this product to anyone looking to stay on top of their busy life.

A practical investment to be organized
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoy using this calendar as a great way to keep our household on the same page. The ability to display photos when not in use is a fantastic touch. We prefer to keep ours on the counter because the cord hanging off the wall is a bit of an eyesore. The setup process is fairly straightforward, but I did run into some challenges with integrating the Apple iCalendar. It’s not as simple as I’d hoped, and I had to search the internet for troubleshooting tips. I ended up opting for the year membership because of the meal planning and grocery list features. While these are newer and still have a few kinks to work out, they’re a great concept and add a lot of value. Overall, I think this calendar is worth the investment. It makes it so much easier to stay organized compared to using paper calendars or whiteboards where things often get lost and aren’t accessible on the go. This device offers both simplicity and convenience, making it easy—and even enjoyable—for everyone in the house to track their schedule and stay organized.

Lifesaver!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an employee of Best Buy and as a busy family of 4, the Skylight calendar has been a lifesaver! The setup was quick and the instructions were easy to follow. Our family officially ditched the written calendar on the fridge and was up and running within 15 minutes! The Magic Import feature allowed me to submit a photo of my handwritten calendar to the Skylight team who converted everything and automatically updated the Skylight calendar. The calendar is easy to navigate and quickly syncs with many other calendar apps. The color categorization makes schedules easy to follow and my husband now has our schedule with him at all times! Thank you Skylight for simplifying our schedules and making this busy mom’s life a lot easier!

Great for a busy household
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this device! I have 5 adults in one home and we need to coordinate many different schedules. The shared calendar is awesome. But now everyone uses the meal planning schedule as well. We used to use Cozi to share shopping lists but this has replaced that. And I love the chores feature to remind everyone whose turn it is to clean the kitchen! It’s a little pricey but I think it may be worth it. The photo scrolling screensaver is a nice bonus too.
