    This is the future!

    I've had my Smarter Coffeemaker for a couple of weeks so I decided it was time to give my opinion. I LOVE this machine! Let's start with the coffee. I love that you can choose to use the grinder or use pre-ground coffee. I only make coffee for myself so I usually just use the 4 cup setting. And for those of you complaining that you can't set it for less than that, 4 cups does not mean for coffee cups. It brews just enough (well, slightly more) to fill my favorite mug. Any setting less than that would be a waste. I have had to play around with the settings when brewing 4 cups though using the grinder. Sometimes the coffee is too strong even when using the medium setting. I adjusted the grind setting but I still need to play around with it. It's only an issue because of the concentrated amount of water being used. I don't think it would be an issue if you were making a full pot. I also love that you can just fill up the water tank and it uses the exact amount needed. Most machines use however much water is in the tank no matter how many cups you're brewing. Now to the fun part. I absolutely love being able to wake up and say "Alexa, start the coffee" and it does it! I'm sorry but that's so cool. The app is also really nice and easy to use. You can adjust the number of cups, strength, everything right from the app. I also love that the app works not only on wifi but also cellular. I can start the coffee brewing while I'm walking home and it's ready when I arrive. That's amazing! Granted, it's only been 2 weeks. But I can't rave enough about this machine.

    Alexa, start coffee

    Imagine rolling over and asking your Amazon Echo or Google Home to start your coffee, then listening to the grinder on your Smarter Coffee Marker making a fresh pot while you snuggle under the covers for a few extra minutes. The Smarter company has produced the perfect partner to the start of my day. After connecting the coffee maker to our home network, we have enjoyed perfect coffee, ground, heated, and perked in one attractive machine. The app is easy to manage and intuitive. While the initial connection was a bit challenging (using light from the smart phone was a new experience), the effort was well rewarded. The maker has performed well, and the coffee is perfect. The app also allows you to set up a geofence for those days when a hot pot of coffee is just what you need. As I get closer to home, my phone asks if I want a great pot of coffee.. When I say yes, the beans are ground and coffee perked when I walk in the door.. We had a small issue early on, and received the best customer service. Our issue was resolved quickly, and everything has been excellent since. Looking forward to new products from the company. By the way, you can also use ground coffee if you prefer. I just like the freshness of newly ground beans.

    After using this coffee maker for the last several months, I am overall satisfied. The coffee taste great and I use either the app or Alexa to start brewing. Pros: This coffee maker looks great! It also has a built in grinder so just put whole beans in the hoper and it feeds into the grinder! You can use the app or Alexa (or the buttons on the display) to calibrate your coffee, adjustments can be made to the strength of flavor, beans or grounds and how many cups desired. Cons: For the price I’d like to see some better commands for Alexa. As it stands, it’s just a smart switch attached to a coffee maker so you ask Alexa to “turn on the coffee” and it starts brewing whatever last setting you had. Also, the water reservoir only holds about 10 cups of coffee (which means you’ll have to refill this daily if you brew 6-8 cups like me). Also, the grounds have to be dumped after every brew, which isn’t so bad until you forgot to do that yesterday and you’re waking up and about to tell Alexa to “turn on the coffee” but you didn’t refill the water and dump the grounds... Final thoughts: The coffee is great and the idea is a novelty. You could probably find a cheaper coffee make with a grinder and just programmed to make coffee in the morning. But the times when I’m thinking about coffee and ask Alexa to get that brewing, it’s pretty cool!

    This will be my initial review after having 3 days with the Smarter Coffee maker. Pros: -Sleek Design -Grind and brew feature or filter only option -Smart phone app -Google Home and Alexa compatibility Cons: -Coarseness knob for beans is a bit of a guessing game. -40 minute keep warm timer could be annoying if hosting guests. -Water full equals 12 cups possible, but brewing at 4 cups gives me 6 cups left? Where did you hide my two cups?! (Not that big of a deal lol) The real selling point for this device is the automation. I can wake up and either snooze for a few more minutes or get ready for my day and brew coffee at maximum freshness without entering my kitchen. They've essentially eliminated the timer and clock setting you'd have to do with your typical grind and brew maker. The price point for this device is crazy expensive for what it is, but they're the only company on the western market that is offering this capability so why wouldn't they charge what ever they want. I did purchase the geek squad 2 year warranty as my main concern is this product hasn't really been marketed for the US (hence lack of product support from some reviews). It makes strong coffee, don't turn the grinder all the way to fine, you have to play with it. Water goes right through the reusable filter quickly so the grounds at the finest setting won't steep long enough. I've turned it all the way to finest and clicked it back about 4-5 notches. If Google Home or Alexa is integrated into your abode and coffee is a necessity I absolutely recommend this product. If $250 is out of your justifiable budget just get a grind and brew coffee maker, it's not that different. Hopefully in the years to come we will see more of these on the market with a huge price drop.

    I was waiting for this product to hit US for over a year. Grinder is working very well, coffee it's ok too. Main reasons I got it it's to control it with alexa. I already created applets in IFTT app so you are more them welcome to use them. Example: Alexa, trigger 2 cups of coffee. If you use Alexa without IFTT. You can only say Alexa, turn on "your device name" in my case it's coffee and machine will start brewing to last setting you had your machine set it up to. The App. If you set auto brew on your schedule, it also works as alarm clock. The bad thing is that you don't have the option to turn alarm off. So every morning your phone will ring when it starts brewing process. Warning: there's no instructions how to replace front face panels. Both of them top and bottom panels have buttons on left and right side underneath you must press in order to remove them. Main problem is with top panel. The button its located between coffee tray and top panel. You must open coffee tray and have very small finger to reach it in between. Overall Smarter is my new best friend.

    As long as you don't expect the features and quality of a $3,000 alternative this product is great. I am a sucker for automation so that I can work on my love handle growing activities and this coffee machine removes a step from my morning routine. It works most of the time. Two issues so far. When I added it to an Alexa group, it started preparing a coffee any time I browsed the list of groups in Alexa app. Looks like a bug in their integration app. Not a biggie as adding it to an Alexa group is not absolutely necessary. Other issue was a design issue as the coffee bean holder is not tall enough and gravity fails to pull the beans to grinder from time to time and you end up getting a cup of hot water instead of coffee. That is good for your health but still may annoy people like me who needs a coffee to wake up. Overall feels like a good purchase. Being able to choose and switch between black, white and red covers is a nice touch.

    Coffee is good but limited amount of control if you are going to have it grind the beans. I am not sure how people are complaining of weak coffee because mine is way to strong on the weak setting with the grinder set to course (recommended by support) It uses way to many beans and coffee is way to strong for a weak setting. If I switch it to strong it uses the same amount of beans and is the same strength as weak. The other major issue is that the warmer only stays on for 40 min so if you start it when you wake up you better get to it and drink fast or it will be cold. I am giving 3 stars because I do enjoy the Alexa/phone use and the coffee is good (just too strong). I included a picture of how many beans it used for 10 cup not 12 cup pot on the weakest setting.

    Overall excellent except for max warming time

    The coffee maker is elegant and easy to use. I love being able to control with my phone and Google Home Assistant. The color plates are a nice touch. My only negative about this coffee maker is the post-brew warming time maximum is 40 minutes. I'm used to a standard 2 hours but when I contacted the company this doesn't seem to be something they plan to update as it's apparently a "health and safety regulation" (maybe in europe since the machine is european?) You cant even manually push the button to restart warmer, it will just tell you there's not enough water and will not turn on. Additionally, you have to remove the carafe to access the filter. Which isn't a big deal but a learning curve in process from other machines I've owned.

    Got this as a Christmas gift for my husband. So excited because it integrates with Google and grinds coffee beans. Not even two days after using it, the grinder doesn’t work. After following the cleaning advice given from Smarter Coffee, it still wasn’t working. Took back to Best Buy for a different one. Grinder is defective on that one too and didn’t even work upon first using. Talked to customer service at Smarter Coffee, and they just said it was just defective and that we should return it for another one. We already did that and don’t feel like returning products over and over to find one that actually works. For $250, it should work as advertised. Going to be returning for our money back, because $250 is a lot of money to spend for two defective products. We will find another brand to use, as we are never using this brand again.

    I honestly can not understand why anyone would give this smart device anything less than five stars. Aside from the great quality cup of coffee, the ability to customize and automate the brewing experience has helped simplify my life. The app is very reliable and I hope they continue to improve on the already great platform. I have had no issues with connectivity or the grinder. The Alexa integration has also been flawless. If you are a gadget geek like myself, this is a must have!

    I like that you can activate from bed, and coffee is fresh. I do not like that you cannot program, that the least you can make is 4 cups, that it does not have an option to reheat coffee or maintain warm for more than 40 minutes. And it is really hard to get it connected. Customer service is very responsive but I still haven't been able to reconnect after I moved. Not sure if I would buy again without checking if there are others. When I got it, it was she only one that could be set from my phone using WiFi regardless of where I am located.

    Week grinder and poor service

    A week after purchasing this coffee maker, the grinder started becoming inconsistent in quantities of coffee. We cleaned the machine as directed by the company and continued to have the same issues. 3 weeks later the grinder stopped working completely. They agreed to ship a new one to us and after a full week of hearing nothing, I sent another email only to find out that they hadn’t shipped it afterall. Now I’m being told that they will ship one next week. This will be over 2 weeks of not being able to use the product to its full potential. It’s a great idea but needs to have a better grinder and reliable service.

    Really good coffee - but machine/app have issues

    The coffee is really good, but there are definitely some issues: 1) You have to push the bean into the grinder hole when you set up for the next brew. The cover over the grinder is too big and the beans don't flow in well. 2) The water entry is small and you have to be careful not to spill. 3) The warmer stays on for only 40 minutes, despite the box saying 120. I have contacted tech support and they are working to fix this for US customers but it has been a struggle. I feel like I am a beta tester for this coffee maker/app.

    Drip coffee has never been so fresh, convenient

    I was able to try out one of the first Smarter Coffee machines in the US. The experience was great. Normally I have to use a separate bean grinder, but this machine is all-in-one. My coffee tasted fantastic and I have it set up so I can brew it to my exact taste from the app. Being able to tell Alexa to brew me a cup when I'm busy taking care of other morning priorities it super convenient as well. I just dash into the kitchen pour my cup and go.

    Excellent product for smart coffee integration via IFTTT and Alexa. Very easy to prepare beans/grounds in the evening then either set alarm or ask Alexa to trigger coffee in the morning. Exactly what I was looking for when I purchased this product. Only downside is you must set how long to warm coffee after it's brewed. Once warmer turns off, you cannot turn it back on.

    They focused on the technology and not on practical coffee making. The beans don’t consistently enter the grinder so you have to stand over the machine and shake it to make sure that they do. Water is hardly warm enough. Their support says to set the preheating to 5 min. Doesn’t make a difference even though 5 min is ridiculous. It will keep the coffee warm for a max of 40 minutes. That goes by very quickly. Do not fall for the hype and do not waste your money.

    I wouldn't recommend this at all. The tech geek side of me loves the wifi and IFTTT integration but the coffee maker doesn't function at all. This is the 2nd one that I'm returning with 45 days for the grinder failing. It also started repeatedly making coffee (mainly warm water..) on its own....Tech support always said the same thing..."hard reset" but I'm done with Smarter....wish there were other wifi options out there!

    I was pleasantly surprised how easy it is to control my coffee settings all from my smartphone app. The coffee tastes great and the features work perfectly. I will be getting Google Home next so I can link it to my Smarter Coffee.

    need to rethink warmer times

    Coffee is fine but can only keep coffee warm for 40 minutes. You cant restart warmer without making more coffee. I sip coffee all morning and just didn't meet my needs and I returned unit day 3. Called CS line and was told its a regulation....must be all the other coffee makers ignore this regulation.

    A must for any coffee tech lover! You can set it to brew to for when you wake up!!!!!! fresh coffee in the morning without doing a thing what could be better. You can also use it with IFTTT and Alexa. You need it!
