Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry that you haven't seen any significant results yet. Depending on the coarseness of your hair it can take a little longer, so we highly recommend using your device for the full 12 week programme. You can pass your Bare+ device 2 or 3 times over the same area to improve results. There shouldn't be any burning smell during treatment as long as the treatment area is fully shaved, cleaned and dried before using the device. I hope this helps! SmoothSkin

    DIY Laser Removal

This is certainly an interesting era we live in, since a few decades ago, laser hair removal didn’t really exist. Even once it started to gain popularity, you had to go to a professional and pay a pretty penny for the work, but now we have the tools to do this at home. I’m what I would describe as a semi-metrosexual man. I’m not a makeup or fashion guru but I love good hygiene, looking good and feeling good so this was a product that I was interested to see play out. Out of the box, there’s nothing extraordinary here, just the tool with attached cord and some basic instructions. This isn’t rocket science to use so there’s not tons to say in regards to instructions. For the most part, anyone can use this unless you have a very dark skin tone/very dark hair. I’m pretty tan for reference and had no issue. To use, you'll simply shave the target area, plug in and get started. Find a target area that you’re wanting to “remove” hair from and get to zapping. This can be used really on any area besides directly on the genitals, the neck, and near the eyes. I used this on some stray hairs in my shoulder, stray cheek beard hairs, and high public area. The stray hair areas after six weeks of use, have pretty much completely disappeared. The pubic area so far is going significantly slower than normal and is thinner, with less growth but definitely not completely gone. My girlfriend used this for the same time frame on her bikini line and legs with similar results. Her hair growth has significantly slowed but nothing has completely disappeared. The biggest things to know is that while this certainly aids in removal of hair, and can remove all hair, it isn’t guaranteed. The packaging lists their results while testing the product and openly says that not everyone will see any results and even the results they do have can be subpar, so don’t hold your breath that this will remove everything you’re hoping for. Even more importantly, understand that this absolutely does not feel good, especially at first. You’re going to feel like a real sharp sting every time you hit the laser button, similar to a sting/rubberband snap. Multiply that by what could be hundreds of snaps, depending on the size of the area you’re working on, and you could be cringing your way through the process. That said too, the sting is temporary and will pass in seconds. Overall, I’m glad to own this. The results took close to 4-5 weeks to notice so stick with it. It has certainly eased my manscaping, as well as my girlfriends shaving needs. I’m interested to see the longer effects in the following weeks but in the mean time, this gets my stamp of approval.

SmoothSkin Bare+ Ultrafast IPL Hair Removal The SmoothSkin + Bare Ultrafast IPL Hair Removal is a great tool for fast and easy hair removal. The device is sleek and stylish. It's ergonomically designed to fit in your hand comfortably. Just glide the device on the areas you need the hairs to be removed while pressing the button on the device. The device flashes each time the button is pressed. My wife used it to remove the hairs on her legs. She stated the device felt a little warm on her skin each time she pressed the button that activated the flash. There was no pain. It took a total of about 20 minutes to remove all of the hairs on both of her legs. She stated it was a little tricky moving the device around the boney parts of her ankles. She used the device once a week for four weeks. Her legs are now smoother than ever. She is happy that the hairs on her legs are not growing as fast. She looks forward to not having to shave her legs three times a week. She will soon start using the SmoothSkin Bare+ on her face, armpits, and bikini line. The use SmoothSkin Bare+ is safe. She did not experience any adverse reactions from using SmoothSkin Bare+. However, SmoothSkin Bare+ does not recommend using this product on individuals with dark or black skin, people with diabetes, or individuals with tattoos.

the good: - easy setup - no skin irritation - relatively quick treatment the bad: - extensive list of contraindications - inconsistent results Definitely review the contraindications for SmoothSkin Bare+ IPL device before purchasing to see if it is right for you and your skin. I was surprised at the number of contraindications listed in the manual, such as: blonde/red/gray hair color, dark skin tones, history of skin cancer, eczema, pregnancy, and tattoos on the skin to be treated, among others. If you like to tan, wax, or epilate, just be aware the manual recommends specific wait times before using their IPL after those regimens. The manual said not to expose the treated skin to direct sunlight for 7 days after using IPL. The other important part was the need to shave the area prior to doing IPL. I have a history of eczema, live in a sunny climate, have blonde hairs on my thighs, and have been epilating for years due to the irritation shaving caused my skin. Needless to say, I was not sure if this was the product for me. The SmoothSkin Bare+ is very easy to set up. It has an easy to see indicator light letting me know it detects a valid skin tone and that I am holding it at a correct angle. The pulsed light is very bright. I felt the warmth described in the manual, but no pain. Once I got the hang of it, the treatment took a little longer than shaving, but definitely quicker than epilating. I used the IPL on both lower legs, but only on one underarm and upper thigh to compare hair growth. I followed the directions for shaving my legs/armpits prior to using the IPL each week. I saw reduction in hair growth to my underarm within the first 2 weeks of use and continued to see less hair over 6 weeks of use. Unfortunately, my legs did not see the same results. The hair growth on my legs continues as usual. Two days after using the IPL I feel the need to shave again because of the hair growth. The manual does suggest 12 weeks of treatments to see results, so I will continue for another 6 weeks, and hope to see some reduction in hair growth on my legs. I am happy to report, I have had no skin irritation from the IPL treatment, which I was worried about due to my eczema and razor burn history. I am pleasantly surprised by the results on my underarms, but unhappy with the lack of progress on my legs. Because of this and the narrow restrictions for effective use, it's tough wholeheartedly recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review of our product. We're glad to hear that you've seen results from 2 weeks, and would encourage you to keep going for the full 12 weeks. This is important, as it ensures that you target each hair in the phase of the hair growth cycle most receptive to IPL treatment. The hair on your legs may be slightly lighter in colour which would mean you may need a few additional sessions to see the same standard of results as you have in other areas. Remember, you can also treat the same area a maximum of 3 times per session with SmoothSkin Bare+ to target particularly stubborn hair. SmoothSkin

In my household two of us are using this device and both of us are getting very different results. My wife uses it for her legs and her results are very good which is why am I giving more than average ratings. I am trying to remove some of my beard going high on cheeks toward the eyes and my results are very disappointing, which is why I am deducting a star from review. That being said this device might not work same for everyone (or give same results for everyone). Yes, we both have exactly same skin color tone (light), and at least very similar color of the hair but maybe strength of the beard is making a difference and its resisting thickening process longer. I will of course continue trying but so far my results are equal to zero. Recommended use is once a week so it might take little bit longer to see the results. Device is very easy to use: just plug to the power, position on the area you want to remove hair from and press the button, and repeat same steps all over. Make sure you shave that area before you use the device otherwise you might feel something like hot burn, it happened to me after I positioned device on unshaved area of my face. Also when used on the face your face might be slightly red like a mild sunburn for while after the treatment. Cleaning its almost not needed, just wipe it for standard hygiene reasons. Good thing is that this device has unlimited number of flashes which you don’t see often on products. Pros: Easy to use Unlimited numbers of flashes Cons: Might not work for everyone

The laser hair removal tool was easy to use. The instructions were clear on how to use the device. You shave first. Then you simply had to adjust the surface contact of the laser portion on your skin until the button changed from a red glow to white. Gliding the device in a line while holding it at the same angle along the skin makes it easy to treat an area quickly. I treated my legs from mid-calf to shorts line in 30 minutes. I have used the device once a week for 6 weeks. I followed these instructions and the hair in the area has been diminished. I haven't had any side effects and do not have any site irritation or visual negative skin conditions. So far so good. I will wait a couple more weeks and not shave and update the effectiveness of this laser treatment. The instructions also state that more treatments might be needed to obtain complete hair removal. The device functioned well with no problems. It was comfortable in my hand and the button to activate the laser was located in an easy-to-use location. I was able to use the device with either hand.

Results/review based on the perspective of a lighter skinned 40-year-old female with light hair (blonde); committing to a weekly schedule of IPL sessions with this device. Most painless way to remove hair that we’ve used, especially having sensitive skin – absolutely ZERO redness afterwards. No shaving cream needed, so no mess. Really easy & fast to use on nearly every contour of the leg, around knee, shins (which she absolutely dreaded shaving). Glad there is Smooth in the name of the product – deservedly so...but don’t snooze on the longevity as hair does not seem to be growing back now like it would in the same time frame (post shaving) but we are not giving it a chance and are repeating sessions still at weekly, actually more like 10-day intervals now. Travels well too. Wife too it to the mountains last weekend and used it in the cabin while watching TV on a rainy evening.

Since this product is suitable for both males and females, both myself and my wife have used it for 6 straight weeks with one treatment per week. Ultimately this review should have been simple - did it work or did it not? The unfortunate answer to that is - kind of. 6 WEEK EXPERIENCE I used it on my chest and my shoulders. I wanted to use it elsewhere (like my neck or ears) though I couldn't but more on that below. My wife used it on her armpits, left arm and left leg. She took the extra step and did only one side of her body for comparison. Each time we shaved before use as instructed. We made sure to use it the same way each time, not passing over anything more than two-three times, too. - MALE (me) A week after the 2nd treatment I noticed a difference in my shoulders but I saw little to no difference on my chest. After the 3rd and 4th treatment, my shoulders were hairless and some areas of my chest finally showed results. After the 5th and 6th treatments little changed other then my chest slightly improving. My end result was mixed. My shoulders which had the thinnest hair faired the best. As for my chest where hair was thicker, some areas it worked but some spots it only half worked or didn't work at all. The missing areas aren't the product window size, either so it doesn't seem to be that I simply missed them every time. I did experience some discomfort. Overall, my chest experienced the most and my shoulders the least. The 3rd and 4th uses created the hottest sensation on my chest and the warmest on my shoulders with the most tenderness experienced after. Meanwhile other weeks I felt nearly nothing on my shoulders and little on my chest including the 5th and 6th times. Any tenderness after use was only slight for only a short amount of time or nothing at all. *I was hoping I would be able to use this on my neck because shaving it is so tedious and I get tired of doing it but unfortunately it can NOT be used on the male face or beard. Although I was disappointed, I completely understand since the hair follicles are too dense. They say you can not use on ears either so that's why I didn't use it on them. - FEMALE (wife) After the 2nd treatment she started realizing the device can't be continuously used without a cooldown period. More on that below. She didn't really start to notice results until after her 3rd treatment. By then growth was slower and less on her arm only. Not much else was noticeable. After the 4th treatment, some areas of her leg showed results but some spots did not. There were no results on her armpits, yet. After the 5th and 6th treatments, her arm and leg showed even more improvement but her armpits did not. Her arm showed the most results. However, her leg was still very patchy. Her end results were hit or miss. It worked very well on her arm. Her arm was hairless with significantly slower and less growth towards the last few treatments. It was less efficient and slower working on her leg but it did have slower and less growth as well. However, it also experienced the same patchiness as I did on my chest and seems like it would need twice the amount of time. Unfortunately, she saw no results for her armpits. Her discomfort experience was different than mine. Over time her leg and arm experienced less as suggested. However, her armpits were the most painful and remained so every single treatment. She will not continue use on them. ISSUES The product just seems to be very inconsistent. Some areas it worked very well but others it just didn't for unknown reasons. It doesn't help that the treatment window is thinner than the product end. Because of that space, you can't see exactly where you're hitting which makes it difficult to use efficiently. But even so, after 6 uses neither of us can say we didn't go over the patchy areas at least enough to show some kind of progress. You can't pass areas more than a couple of times in a single use so you don't have the luxury of continuously going over the same areas 'just in case' without potential harm. For certain areas, I don't think we could have possibly missed that many times for it to just not work at all. If holding the button allowed for it to be continuously on, I think it would make a huge difference. Over the course of the 6 treatments we found the discomfort to be inconsistent as well where in some cases it actually increased some weeks or remained the same as opposed to the "less over time" it suggests. CONCLUSION While the product does work, the "whole body treatment takes just 10 minutes" marketing is an exaggeration. You can only use the product for about 90 seconds before the pulse slows down regardless if you were holding the button or not. It then requires a significant cool down to return to normal speed. Between that and the fact that the contours of your body prevent the button being held for long periods, there's just no way your whole body is getting done in 10 minutes. The device was difficult to glide and it does not move smoothly over your body. It's hard to keep track of where you actually hit. As far as effectiveness, It seems the thinner the hair the better and more quickly the product works. However, your results will potentially be patchy or uneven until you get to where you want it to be. Overall I think the Smoothskin Bare is best for small areas and thinner hair. While you can certainly make use of it for your whole body, I just wouldn't expect it to be as simple as they make it sound. The discomfort the device can potentially give will also be different from user to user. While I did select YES to if I'd recommend it, I'd only "recommend to a friend" after explaining all of these specifics. They requested 6 weeks of use before writing this review and then updating it after 12 weeks, but due to Best Buy not allowing the updating of reviews, I can only provide our results after 6 weeks. Regardless, please note, your results may vary. You may fair better and maybe another 6 weeks will solve our patchy problems but after seeing little to no progress in some areas this far I'm personally not entirely convinced yet. PROS: - After the initial weekly treatments, routine upkeep will become minimal after thus saving time - Skin tone sensor is a smart safety feature. It only allows the product to activate when skin tone is correct and full contact is made CONS: - Use can be potentially uncomfortable or slightly painful. - Maintaining full contact can be fickle, making holding/gliding difficult - The thicker the hair, the less efficient it works A few other helpful warnings to know before purchasing (this is NOT all inclusive, refer to the website for tons more of important and helpful information. I recommend reading ALL the safety information included in the booklet before use): It's NOT for people with diabetes. It's NOT recommended for those with skin allergies, serious skin conditions or skin cancer. It is NOT for use on eyebrows, eye lashes, scalp, lips, nostrils or ears.

This hair removal system definitely seems to work. I've used it on the hair on the back of my neck that the barber always has to shave and my wife has used it as well. So far I've had little to no hair regrowth in the treatment area with weekly use. It will be interesting to find out if that remains true after further use modified to every other week. Two things I really like are the fact that it is virtually painless and the continuous operation by holding down the button and just moving it over the treatment area. You really can cover a lot of area in just a few minutes. The fact that it will only pulse when flush against the skin is a great safety feature as well. I would highly recommend.

All SmoothSkin devices are fitted with safety sensors that ensure they do not activate unless a skin tone is detected that can safely be treated with IPL technology. I've been using this little item for a few weeks now. The box and packaging was really nice, I felt like I was getting a present. I opened it and was greeted by a ergonomic looking thing thats about the size of a childs hand. My wife and I had shaved prior to testing it too.I'm 50 years old who has those middle aged hairs that pop up in unwelcome places, ears, moles, etc. My wife used it in the basic areas, legs arm pitts, where ever there may have been a wild hair, you get the picture. We read the directions, and this is very important because you can hurt yourself i you point it towards your eyes or someone else's. This thing left our skin like a newborn baby. There is no shadow of new hair growing back either, not yet anyway. My wife used it around her chin and jaw line where she swears to have this rogue hair, I've never seen it, but she says its there. She said it was a snap and now its gone..I used it on a couple of moles, my ears, top of my shoulder blades. Places that are difficult to shave or wax. All I can say is that it works great. We both have very fair skin too and there was no red spots after using it...If you are tired of shaving your legs and other personal areas, try this beauty out. If you want more information on it. I know QVC was/is selling them and you can probably do a websearch and find the exact date. Do not point it near your eyes or someone else's, do not leave it laying out for children to find because it looks just like something a child would want to play with. This a great item for gifts or as needed. 5 stars

So I'm a pretty furry guy and have tried IPL at home technology when it first came out..about 10 years ago. It wasn't really effective at all but I thought that maybe I'd have much better luck with today's updated IPL technology. So i decided upon the new Smooth Skin-Bare+ IPL system. The old IPL technology was very focused and limited. It was slow and quite painful...the flashes stung pretty badly. It worked only on the body and if you wanted to use on your face, well, you were out of luck. This Bare + system solves most of those issues and is safe for the body and face, as long as your skin tone falls within their safety range. It's not recommended to use on very dark skin tones. The Bare+ states that it's lamp will last the lifetime of the unit which is nice. The old IPL systems had a limited number of flashes before the head/bulb unit had to be replaced. The Bare+ can flash up to 100 times per minute when in glide mode but I found that figure to be a bit overstated. When it is first being run, the flashing happens quite quickly but as the unit heats up, I saw a significant reduction in the flash rate. I would approximate that to happen within 2 to 3 minutes of the unit being used. Even though it eventually flashed at a slower pace, it was still quite speedy. The flashes were much less painful than my old system, and per the Bare+ website it automatically adjusts the flash power based on the skin tone that the sensor reads. There is a slight sting but it's completely manageable and almost unnoticeable over time. I treated my shoulder area with the Bare+. The unit is small and light so it's very easy to maneuver but I wish it was cordless..the cord was a pain to work with from time to time. It offers glide mode or stamp mode and I had no idea how to select one or the other. I just started and the glide mode made quick work of the area which was surprising to me. The old systems took far longer to achieve the same coverage. You can still use is more slowly in what I assume is stamp mode but I didn't feel i needed to be that meticulous and thorough. I have been using it for 6 weeks before writing this review and I noticed from the first treatment, it was quite successful. It slowed the regrowth of hair significantly, but I am not sure it will lead to a permanent reduction in hair, especially with thicker male hair. I will continue to use on a regular basis because it's easy to use but I hold little hope it will make the hair stop regrowing altogether. So far, I'm pretty happy with the Bare+ – as it is small & light, very easy to use and I never need to worry about the bulb again. Plus, it seems to slow regrowth and that's what's important in the end. I look forward to continued use.

My wife has really been wanting a laser hair removal system for a while and was going to make that her next investment. But, I surprised her with this and she loves it! Opening the product, you really feel like you're getting something worthy of the price you paid. This being our first product of this type, we didn't really know what to expect or how exactly it works. Luckily, it's pretty simple. There was some initial confusion, out of the box...but this is mostly due to everything else requiring a charge. We plugged it in to charge it (we honestly thought it needed to be charged, since it's portable and it just seems like it would be difficult using it with a cord attached...) and quickly realized that it doesn't charge...it just plugs in for power. This is an easy mistake to make, as so many of our electronics and other devices these days work mostly off of being charged. Regardless, this was just a small problem, since the cable isn't the longest. So, make sure you find a place comfortable that is pretty close to an outlet. I honestly don't know why this couldn't have been made as a chargeable device, especially given that you'll likely be using it in odd and sometimes out of the way places. Otherwise, it works great! We did a test run on both of us with a small patch. We have fairly light skin and there wasn't anything out of the normal after 24 hours. So, she started using it on armpits, legs and chin - once a week for 6 weeks. The armpits and legs worked fantastic and no issues there. The hair was virtually completely gone. However, the chin was a bit of a different story. This has always been a problem area for her, as the hair there is a bit courser than everywhere else and she has to keep it shaved at least every other day or so. While it does work on that area SOME, it took a lot more effort and the hair never fully went away like it did in other areas. She had no side effects from any of the places she treated over the 6 week period. The only real true complaint we had with the unit was the fact that the "flash" is VERY bright. The manual says to "look away" when pressing the button to flash and remove the hair. The problem is...it's not always easy to do that and make sure you're hitting the area you intend to, without shifting when you look away. To be honest, the first time we used this, we didn't look away at all - we just made sure not to look DIRECTLY into it or anything. Then after reading that in the manual, we kinda freaked out a bit. Personally, for the cost of the unit and with how bright the light is...they should supply you a pair of goggles or something to use to protect your eyes, just to be on the safe side. Outside of the above, I would give this product a solid 4 stars. We also like the fact that this technology has gotten far enough now to have "unlimited flashes". You no longer feel like it's lifespan is shortening every time you use it. I also feel like this is a brand I could trust and from my research, I believe this is the best brand to get for this type of hair removal. The reasons I docked a star is due to 1) The fact that in reality, this should be a product that you charge and use wireless, given the nature of what you're doing. 2) They should have included some sort of safety glasses/goggles with the product - this would not have been something terribly expensive to include and 3) It seems to work much better on thinner/finer hair than it does thicker or more course hair.

I got this for my wife to use at home for under her arms and anywhere else she might want to try it. So far she has only used it under her arms for about the last month and a half and has been happy with the results. She says that she can definitely see this allowing her to completely stop shaving under her arms when she gets through the rest of the treatment period. The unit is small but very powerful and the only con that she has with it that made her knock it down a star is just how bright the device is and there was no sort of eye protection included with it. I personally thought a lightening storm was happening in our bathroom one time she was using it with the door cracked because it illuminated our entire bedroom as if lightening was flashing from the bathroom. Be aware of that when using it that if you don't have some sort of eye protection you will not be able to really look at what you are doing. This would be one my suggestion for them to include some sort of eye protection even if it is something small like what you get at a tanning bed.

I got this product for my wife who has previously paid to have her legs etc. professionally lasered to rid herself of her hair. Unfortunately she could not use this product without dark glasses because the light coming from it was too intense. Especially when she used it in the bathroom and it bounced off the mirror etc. Additionally, while her skin falls well within the color range of the manufacturers specs for this product, it would frequently not be able to tell when it was pressed against her skin. (The product is not meant to work on very dark skinned people. The laser did do its job and I'm sure if she used it once a week as instructed the hair would not come back, but without glasses and with the sensitivity of the product, she could only use it for a few weeks. We're going to get her (and me) some dark glasses so I can help her and see if we can duplicate the professional results she once had. They should really include glasses with this product.

Thank you for your feedback. We have many customers who use our devices to top-up at home following professional treatments with great results. SmoothSkin Bare+ is perfectly safe to use without eye protection and has passed rigorous eye safety tests, but if you (and your wife!) are more comfortable wearing dark glasses please do so. You can also use the device in a well lit room to reduce the perceived brightness of the flash. SmoothSkin

Mature female tried on face. The printed instructions should be much more clear and in a larger font. It is understandable that the cautions were significant and frankly a bit concerning. Following their instructions closely, the use was very straight forward. At first she was taken aback by the strobe effect light, seemed to be a spark, but after using it, that was not an issue. She had no bad reactions to the Smooth Skin - Bare+ IPL Hair Removal System. She did a skin test as her skin is quite sensitive. She is encouraged, but still needs to see the full effect over time. There was a blue light and a fan, and a flash of white light that tells you that it was affecting the area. She had no physical tingling. The 10 minutes to do your entire body is a little on the puffery side. Due to limitations in the manual, I was not able to test it on myself. Watch their videos. Read the manual. Should work well for most people that meet the skin type requirements.
