I'll start by saying I'm not overly impressed with this I'll hair remover, it gets to be heavy and awkward during use. I believe a cordless model would be the best option. I used this religiously over 7 weeks and have noticed very little hair removal at all. I do not like body hair as I use this on my chest, groin, buttocks and upper thighs after shaving 1st with a razor. This can be painful in sensitive areas, such as chest , buttocks and groin. It does get very hot from the ipl flash, which is uncomfortable. To me it just seems like this delays the hair from growing back as fast by a extra day or two. When I use this device I would overlap the I'll flash to guarantee I was hitting every folice with the light. Still my hair comes back, regardless. I've used this 1x per week and a few times twice a week, all with the same minimal results. For what this costs I'm very unimpressed by the device. I find that using hard wax has better results, although waxing is painful. The hair stays away for a week, before returning with waxing. This system doesn't work and my skin color is supposed to be one of the best for good results according to the manufacturer. I do not recommend this item.

I dont like its not cordless but its a great product

I have a hair problem that has been getting worse over the years. I am 71 and my hair (head and facial) has turned gray to white. I understand this system is not designed to function with light gray or white hair, I get it. But my hair issue is not with my gray/white head/facial hair, it is with my ears. Can not explain it, but over the years I have just continued to sprout more and more dark black outer ear terminal hair. Prior to using the SmoothSkin Pure Fit IPL Hair Removal system, I had two options. #1) Waiting for my ear hairs to grow sufficient enough for plucking out with tweezers. A somewhat tedious process, immediately effective, but waning in less than 2 weeks. #2) Shaving every day with my electric razor, or more recently, using a small facial hair remover mini-razor. (Note option #3 living with hairy ears was a non-option.) Anyway, both methods (1 or 2) worked, but each had own set of assets and liabilities. After researching alternatives for other methods to permanently remove hair, I took the plunge and requested/ordered this system. Following six treatments over a six week period, using the included small detachable precision head, I actually see verifiable results. My ear hair appears to be much less prominent, and what is remaining to a great extent is a lighter shade. The device is very easy to use, but I do have to hold my outer ear as flat as possible for the light sensor to function/flash. Still can not get it to trigger on the tops of the ears, and that’s OK, my head hair covers those areas. I have not encountered any pain or other possible negative side effects. As recommended, I do shower and shave my ears prior to treatments, and after I apply lotion to the treated areas. I will continue to use this IPL system weekly and will update this review in another month or two with the end (or ear) results. In closing, I will also mention that my wife has now taken a hands-on interest with this system for her legs and underarms. And that is an added bonus, no doubt the intended purpose of the SmoothSkin Pure Fit IPL Hair Removal System. Can you hEAR me now?

In the box you will receive the unit, detachable precision head and user guide. I like the precision head, because it works for smaller areas that you can’t get to with just the unit. The precision head attaches with a magnet for easy attaching and detaching. I am keeping the box it comes in. It is perfect to keep everything you need together in one place. You must read the user manual. There are important preparations you need to do before using this IPL unit. There are plenty of do’s and don’ts to get the best results. The actual use of this is simple. You need to shave the area you intend to use the unit on, plug in the unit, select your mode, position flat on your skin, press the button and slide on to the next spot and repeat over and over till you are done there. The flash of light is very bright to me. I would suggest either closing your eyes when you press the button or maybe wear sunglasses. If you are worried about pain upon using the unit, I did not feel much of anything. I felt a warming sensation and a little zap. No pain, no gain. Really it does not hurt at all. Just don’t be surprised if it gives you a little zap now and then. It is more surprising when it does this than any pain. This has a sensor which will figure out your skin tone and decide for you which level you need. This was surprising to me that it could do that. You can use this on just about all skin tones from light to lighter dark tones. Unfortunately if you have very light hair on your skin (white, blonde or red) this may not work as well for you. I use the unit with the precision head for my upper lip which probably isn’t necessary and other smaller areas or creases that are hard to get to with the unit itself. I take the precision head off and use the unit mostly on my legs and underarms. I have completed a 6 week course of treatments and…WOW! There is a big difference in how sparse the hair grows in now compared to shaving. I only need to use this maybe every 3 weeks because the hair growth is so much less. Even after your hair is pretty much gone and growing back sparsely, it is important to remember to shave what little hair that comes back when you go to use the unit. When you consider how expensive this procedure is when going to a professional, it is well worth buying. Again, be patient and use as directed for good results.

My wife had been toying with the idea of getting laser hair removal for her bikini area for a while now, but there are no salons nearby offering that service and driving an hour one way for an appointment every week was not a commitment she was willing to make. Enter SmoothSkin. It is astounding to see how well it works! The instructions are very easy to understand, the device is easy to use, and the results are amazing. The recommended treatment course is 12 weeks and she has been using it for 6. By the third week she could already tell a difference in the smoothness of her skin after shaving. Where she had previously been prone to irritation, bumps, and ingrown hairs, she is now able to eliminate after shave products completely and experience no irritation. There is considerably less hair growth than before, and what is still growing is much more fine than before. It’s important to follow the directions for use. Exfoliating and shaving the area beforehand is a must! She described the experience as being similar to the shock of static discharge after walking on carpet, only in a more sensitive area. Definitely worth it for the results she is getting! Overall, she’s exceptionally pleased with this product and would unconditionally recommend it for anyone who is tired of shaving and wants a more permanent solution for hair removal.

I've been testing this out for the past 6 weeks but full disclosure..I had previously been using the original version of this one that did not come with the attachment so I wasn’t starting out from scratch (although it had been awhile since I had used that one). First I'll speak on actual use... The longest part of each treatment isn't the actual use of the IPL system...it's the prep. You have to thoroughly shave the areas you plan to use this prior to each treatment. The actual treatment time literally takes less than 10 minutes for me (full legs, upper lip, and chin area). It's a virtually painless experience. At most in the beginning I felt little hot zaps (not a burning sensation but just a quick flash of warmth). After the first treatment you notice it less because you know what to expect. I occasionally noticed a slight tingling sensation that would subside after a few minutes but nothing lingering and nothing painful. I also did not experience any redness or irritation after treatments. After reading the booklet in it's entirety I did have some concerns but if you follow the directions completely and don't try to skip steps you should be fine. Also make sure you do the test patch as advised 24 hours in advance of you first use to make sure your skin reacts well. For anyone with concerns of if it will work for your skin coloring, thankfully this system makes it foolproof. It will not fire any IPL lights if the area is too dark (which may be frustrating to WOC with the deeper coloring or for people with darker areas such as underarms which at times can mean a lot of adjusting to try and get it to fire). I am not at the darkest coloring shown but do have some difficulty at times. I’ll go back to this in a moment. The sensors also automatically adjust the light level based on the coloring of the area so you don't have to wonder if you are using the right strength. A little about my original experience (both units are virtually identical so my original experience continues to be valid).... The booklet suggests that most will see noticeable results in as little as 4 treatments but this isn't to be confused with complete hair removal within that time. By the time I got to the 4th treatment I could honestly say that I noticed less hair growing back but I knew I wasn't remotely close to the results I was hoping to experience. This let me know that this is a treatment that you have to have patience and consistency with. My experience with this particular unit since I was already at a point where my hair growth was significantly less and slower than it was prior to using the old unit… Because I was starting from a point where I had virtually stopped the upkeep process I continued to have hair growth but significantly less at a much slower rate. This means for me prep time is a lot quicker but the same principles apply. Shave first and then do your treatment. With the addition of the attachment that lets you do a more targeted treatment I found that it helps to use it when you’re dealing with difficult detection areas or places that make it a little tricky to get good skin contact (such as shins, underarms, upper lip). I also noticed a little less feeling of the zap when the attachment is used (particularly underarms and upper lip where the zap may feel a bit more intense that other areas). If it’s an area where you notice more difficult detection just adjust the angle and apply more pressure to get better skin contact. Otherwise everything else is the same as the original unit. The only negative I continue to see is that for those with deeper skin coloring may not be served with this. Also, for areas on your body that may have darker coloring from prior shaving (such as underarms) may be difficult or impossible so for some individuals this may be frustrating because you won't be able to achieve the same results everywhere you would like to. For that situation a different system that will work for all skin colorings may be a better option. But overall, I feel like this is a good option for anyone wanting to achieve smooth, hair-free skin for extended periods. You absolutely have to be consistent in your use or you will think it doesn’t work. For some people or maybe some areas you may not ever achieve 100% hair removal for months in between treatments once you reach the maintenance phase. But you should absolutely reach a point where you will not need to shave as often and when you do it will be very minimal. That alone may be worth it for those that find themselves shaving daily or several times a week. I also want to reiterate that this unit is virtually the same as the original one. So if you own that one and it still works as expected it isn’t worth it to buy this one. You are literally only getting the benefit of a small attachment that sticks on with a magnet.

I got this IPL system for my wife as she has been asking for one for a bit. The following is what she has told me regarding her experiences pre and post SmoothSkin Pure Fit IPL hair removal system. She’s someone with sensory issues where if her body hair chaffs at all she struggles to do much of anything so she shaves daily. She had been wanting an IPL system so that she could eliminate spending so much of her life shaving everyday and if she skips a day, she doesn’t run into those sensory issues. The system is designed to be used once a week for 12 weeks during the initial treatment window. After which, you really only have to do it once every month to 2 months. Happy to say that after 5 weeks of using it once a week, there was significantly less hair growth! The couple cons that we wanted to address were first, in the booklet once you get it home it does tell you that it works best with specific skin tones and hair colors (lighter skin tones and darker hair colors) due to the nature of how IPL works. Not their fault, just something to point out! The regular head is a tad small so it does take some time to do all of your legs as you have to move to a spot, click the button, move up an inch, click the button, etc. Again I think this is just the nature of IPL but a bigger head would be nice in the future. Lastly there were a couple times where it bugged. Didn’t do anything bad, just stopped working. Not sure what we did, but we would just have to unplug it, leave it unplugged for a minute, then plug it back in and it was working again. Not a big issue at all, just wanted to point it out. We were a little worried on how it would react to her skin as she has pretty severe eczema that has left her legs scarred. We didn’t know if it would hurt more, cause chaffing or redness or any sort of issue that would impact her sensory issues. It didn’t cause any issues! It was just a mild warm tingling sensation briefly but then it was over. We are in week 6 of the process so we are halfway through our initial treatment, but safe to say we are amazed and satisfied. Pros: No more daily shaving! Easy to use Mild warm tingling sensation, no burning A once a week system Cons: We were lucky to have the correct skin tone and hair color to use it, but not everyone can use it Head is small so it does take awhile to use Couple times where it bugged out

The device comes with a manual and a smaller shield to use on a smaller area and a power supply,. The packaging for the SmoothSkin is a bit bulky, less cardboard could be used. The instructions for the device are not very clear and quick start guide would be useful. The device did not work initially, it would not power on and had to be restarted several times by plugging and unplugging. When the device finally powered on it would not give the white indicator light showing it was in direct contact with skin and could be used. When it is in the right area and I’m contact the lights show white and when it is not it’s red. After a few restarts it would show white. When using the device there are just a few buttons you can select the activation button which is the bigger button with the s’s on it. The highest setting is the initial setting without selecting anything. The lighter setting is the feather but you can still feel it when hitting the activate button. The button with the timer is the speed button mode. The speed button is the lowest setting and can be used if you need to do a section that has a lot of treatment required and need to go fast. Each mode is still pretty strong and you will feel it. I’ve used the device for six treatments thus far and I have seen the hair thinning out but it is still growing in. I would call it a difference but there’s still a few treatments before seeing if the hair will stop coming in. I’m glad that I can see a difference but holding out final judgment to see if it will stop altogether. I will update after the treatment cycle has concluded.

As someone who has had some laser hair removal done professionally, this is in my opinion a much better route to take. After using it for 6 weeks, I couldn't be happier with the results! Reading the instructions is a must. There are too many settings and recommendations to just plug in and get to it. It works best with lighter skin and darker hair. It won't work well with light colored hair like blonde. I have almost a light olive colored skin with medium brown hair and this hair removal system worked fabulously. I noticed a significant improvement after the 3rd treatment, but noticeable changes after the first. I did the treatment on my lower legs and underarms. I've had professional treatment done to my bikini line and I like this system much better. I think the pain was much less with this home system than what the professional one created. It comes with two different sized tips, one for a wider treatment area and another for a more precise treatment. I used the small one for my under arms and the larger one for my legs. Treatment time for both areas took about 45 minutes. I was slightly red after the treatments but it wasn't too uncomfortable.

If you know what you're getting than this device is perfect. Laser hair removal from a pro can get better results but it also costs a more than this device and you have to go multiple times. This device is a fraction of that cost and you can get good results as well. For just a warning tho if you have darker skin there can be an issue with using the device and getting the desired results . That's true with similar devices you can find from other brands not just with this brand of device. Also don't expect results in a day or even a few weeks. Just believe in the product and you'll see results as little as four weeks. YMMV. Inside the box you get just the device and the plug to power it with some manuals. Simple enough. It uses three different modes and each varies in the heat you'll feel on your body. It doesn't get overly hot or anything but I wouldn't touch it with your hand . It's safe to use . Also you also want to use the device after your shave the areas you want to use this device to get the best results.

Not only does this work, it does not hurt. I had "professional" Intense Pulse Light (IPL) way back in the day and it hurt. Then I had professional laser hair removal, it too hurt but produced great results so I went through several sessions. It was worth the investment, I no longer have to worry if legs or underarms need to be shaved. However, laser hair removal is not permanent. Mostly yes, but not forever and always. Thus a few hairs show up here and there. The SmoothSkin Pure Fit IPL hair removal system is the answer. It's small and easy to handle. I had one of the first home IPL tools and it was much larger and difficult to get to some spots. The Smoothskin Pure Fit works great. I tried all three modes, power, gentle and speed. I didn't notice any difference between gentle and speed modes. Gentle mode was a bit less of a snap (think rubber band) when it zaps the hair follicle. The power mode did NOT hurt (woo hoo!). I can tell you this is a keeper. If it came with a travel bag it would be perfect.

An IPL used in a medical office is 40 Jules, and this one is only 20 Jules...so I really had reservations about its strength. I worked in a vision clinic that uses IPL as part of dry eye treatment- an accidental discovery as part of skin treatments. I have used it on my face before as part of a dry eye treatment- bright light, little snap on the face. I went in at least knowing what to expect since the instructions didn't really say that. Yes, it is a very bright flash and it does feel like a rubber band snap. I decided to start small so I did my under arms. Well, just one. So I shaved both and used it on my right under arm for comparison. After 4 weeks I really noticed a difference!!! 1 week after 6 weeks...and my right underarm is still smooth and the left is, well, growing hair as normal!!! Now on to the next one...and my legs. I really wish they would have had this when I was young!!! I would recommend this as a great gift for anyone that wants permanent hair removal.

The SmoothSkin pure fit IPL hair removal system in black is a real game changer for in home hair removal. It is comes in a very nice boxed presentation in case you want to give it as a gift. I am laughing because would that be an insult to give this to someone, I do not think so if they ask for it as a gift. At any rate, the manufacturer produces and sends with the box contents a very thorough user guide that helps one figure out how to make sure that their skin tone works with the system. There are a couple of different ways to engage the laser light hair removal system. I personally like the button that allows for a continuous triggering of light to fry the hair follicles along the areas that you wish to remove hair from. The thing that I really like this time is that it came with an end cap that really helps target and minimize the light for smaller areas such as over the lip and facial hairs in tighter areas, plus under arm. I want to remind people reading this review that this is hair removal is not only for ladies but also men who have unwanted hair on their backs, their chests, etc. So, this is at least a 6 week process and commitment which also requires maintenance every so many weeks as hair tries to grow back. The user must first remove hair from the areas that are to be treated by either shaving, waxing, or tweezing. That gets the area as smooth as possible and then by doing a weekly treatment with the IPL, you gradually kill the hair follicle and thus, stop hair growth. However, those pesky follicles can come back so that is why a maintenance program is recommended. Clearly, it will not be a s much or as aggressive hair growth as in the beginning of the process, but there will be some regrowth and you tackle that as is necessary. I definitely love this model with the new end cap that allows you to target stubborn and smaller areas.

If you are looking for a permanent solution this probably is not it. But it does seem to decrease the amount of hair growth in the area. It is nice to have the adaptor piece to allow you to get to small areas. The device will not activate if the window is not completely covered to keep you from injuring yourself by shining it in your eyes. The adaptor allows you to get areas such as over your lip or under your chin or between your eyebrows without shining the laser light in your eyes. I definitely still have some hair growth in the area. It also requires you to be consistent and schedule out treatments. I get busy and realize that there is additional growth and realize that I accidentally skipped over a treatment. It is certainly convenient to be able to use it in your home instead of relying on a salon schedule to get in and get waxed or sugared. Like it said it does appear to decrease hair growth, but it hasn’t stopped it for me. It may vary by the color of your hair or possible tone of skin.

Very powerful home IPL machine! I’ve been using for about 8 weeks now and I see a BIG difference! Not only is there less hair, the hair that is growing back is finer and lighter! And as a plus it is even helping to refuse some of those pesky little brown spots on my arms and legs!
