Works great and so easy to use! My skin on my face is so smooth!!

Wanting fir sfter 6 weeks to review. Its nice machine

I have been using this for the past 6 weeks and have already started seeing results. I am using this on the following areas: under arms, belly button area, upper and lower legs, feet and toes. I have already noticed a much slower growth or no no growth on my feet and toes. My under arms and belly area have definitely slowed the growth. My legs have slowed the growth - but not as much. The growth has also become more sporadic on my legs so I can tell it is working. The SmoothSkin is very easy to use. You just plug it in and decide what setting you want to use and glide it on your skin. The red laser pulses either fast or slow depending on the setting. It does not hurt. I spend about 10 minutes 1x a week going over the areas I am working on. The only thing I don’t care for is that the unit does not have an on or off switch. You have to unplug it while it is still running. Other than that, I am very pleased and can’t wait until I am totally hair free on all the areas!

SmoothSkin IPL Home Hair Removal Included- 1 SmoothSkin IPL home hair removal device, instructions ***This product is ONLY suitable for use on skintones 1-5 (i.e. not suitable for use on dark brown or black skin) Upon first receiving this product, thoroughly read the instruction manual. You will want to test each separate area to make sure you do not have any type of reaction and wait 24 hours before proceeding. I first prepped the area by taking a shower, shaving the area, drying off and then proceeding with the device. When you plug it in you will hear the fans start to kick in right away. I wait a few minutes but it's not really necessary. It's ready to go right away. Decide which of the 3 modes you are going to work in- Power, Gentle and Speed. Power mode is the most intense and great for in the beginning when you first start your treatments. It will give you the best results since it will use the maximum power output possible for your skin tone. Gentle is great for more sensitive areas or if the power mode is too uncomfortable or painful. It reduces the power output. And the speed mode is the lowest power mode so they recommend it for covering larger areas like legs or even when you move to maintenance treatments. Modes are easy to switch between with a touch of a button. Once your mode is set, then you will simply place the SmoothSkin IPL home hair removal device on the area you want to treat. There are 10 mini indicator lights on the sides of the device. It will indicate if there is full contact on the skin or not and then device will not fire. If the lights are red, you need to adjust the device on your skin so it has complete contact. I have had the most trouble on my knees getting it to line up right. Otherwise, if the lights are white, then there is full contact and it will fire. You will need to do one area at a time. There are two methods. You can glide the device along- holding down the activation button continuously and move the device along the skin as it flashes. This is great for large areas like legs. Or you can stamp, which is great for small areas by placing it on skin, press and release the button and then reapply to the next area for the next activation. I wish it came with a pair of shades to help protect my eyes. I have a spare pair if sunglasses that I have to keep in my bathroom for treatments, Otherwise, I've gotten pretty good at closing my eye in between flashes or just keeping them closed and do it by feel when gliding. The other accessory I wish was included was a travel case. I brought the device with me on a spring break vacation and I didn't have anything to pack it up in and keep it protected and clean. I ended up using a spare wet/dry bag that I had on hand. But I would appreciate something more sophisticated and well-suited for the device. For the best results, It's important to set up a good schedule with the device. It needs to be used once a week, every 7 days. So far, I have treated my legs, underarms and bikini area. I have noticed a considerable difference already from day 1 until now, about 6 weeks later. It's still somewhat patchy and not perfect, which is to be expected. Ideally, the SmoothSkin IPL home device should be used for 12 weeks to ensure all hair follicles are treated before moving to a maintenance mode. You are not supposed to overlap flashes, so finding the exact next area can be somewhat difficult to line it up. In the perfect world, it would be easier for someone else to work the device on you so that each area is thoroughly covered. But it's very simple for me to do myself. I like the overall look that the SmoothSkin device gives after treatments with the clean smooth skin. You don't have to worry about shaving every day, razor burns or bumps, or even stubble that grows back quickly. Where the device has already made a big difference, it doesn't have the "5 o'clock" shadows that you get with shaving. It just looks hairless. For the lack of accessories I would deduct half a star if it was possible. But I recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to have to shave every day, or wants to get rid of unwanted body hair without paying the regular treatment costs outside your home. You will have smooth clean skin.

I have had laser hair removal done professionally before but it does eventually need to be touched up due to hair growth cycles. I had been curious how well a home removal device would work. I am very fair skinned with medium reddish hair so I am high on the Fitzgerald scale. But my body hair is on the lighter to medium side and I don't have a lot of coarse hair. My skin color and hair color and texture are a good match for what this device's instructions say works best. I read the instructions and got started. You have to shave the area you are going to do the removal on first. If you don't, the hair burns. You also can't wax or pluck beforehand because the removal tool works by targeting the hair plug, which is removed when you wax or pluck. The instructions are quite long, kind of too long in my opinion. They tell you not to look at the light and that the front of the device has to all make contact with the area to be treated. Even not looking directly at the light, it is very bright. I used it on my upper lip, underarms, lower legs and bikini area. Laser hair removal is not for the faint of heart. It isn't painful but it is uncomfortable. It feels like a rubber band being snapped on you. This device was much less uncomfortable. My first thought was to wonder if it would actually work. It took about 10-15 minutes to do each treatment. And much to my surprise, it seems to have worked. I only had a few darker hairs after several weeks of treatment. I have now done 6 treatments. The hair on my upper lip is mostly faint but as I have gotten older it has darkend quite a bit. I did notice a small amount of pretty coarse dark hair. I was puzzled because it had seemed to have been working. As I thought about it, I realized that all the less coarse hair was gone and it was just some of the coarser hair was taking longer to disappear. All in all, I can see where this device would be worthwhile for someone to buy. I like having my hair removal done professionally but with this device, I don't have to leave home to do it. If you don't have time to set aside for an appointment, this could be the perfect tool for you. The number of light pulses (how many zaps the device will do in a lifetime) is unlimited. That means that I can share it with my daughter as well. I could definitely recommend this device.

As someone who has had both professional laser hair removal treatment and used other at home hair removal systems, I was definitely curious about the SmoothSkin. Right off the bat I will say, I do not believe there is a true substitute for professional laser hair removal. It simply is more powerful and administered by a professional (doctor). HOWEVER, I do think this is probably the best at home system I have ever tried and it does produce results. I used the system on my armpits. I used it once a week for 8 weeks and did see a noticeable reduction in hair. I do still have hair growing but it has thinned out, and I'm hopeful that with more treatments, I'll see better results. Those are the pros of the machine. Cons? Yikes, it smarts pretty good when you're actually using the system. Armpits are pretty sensitive and you will feel every single zap. I would imagine on other areas (like your legs) this may not be as big of an issue. And this is no less true of professional treatments, those are uncomfortable too. I wanted to start out on a smaller area for the initial try and focus on that. It does work, but just keep in mind it will not produce the same results as professional treatments...but then it's also a fraction of the cost. So, I guess you take the good with the bad...hence my mixed feelings. One other thing that is AMAZING about this product is it doesn't require bulb replacements. It offers unlimited flashes and that's actually a HUGE plus for a home system. My last home system (which was not nearly as effective by the way) only gave a couple hundred flashes before you had to replace the bulb. That is not much at all if you want to do larger areas like arms, legs, etc. All of this to say, does it match up to professional laser hair removal? Nope, but that was to be expected. But does it work and produce results? Yes, it does. And is it better than other home systems on the market? 100% yes.

At home laser hair removal - I had no idea what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The machine is handheld and very easy to operate. The recommendation is to use after shaving, when the hair is in the anagen phase, and that’s how I have used it, and after about six weeks I have seen significant changes in the amount of hair growth. I have only used in small sections, mainly armpits and facial areas, because when I tried to use on my legs it was just too time consuming with such a small device over such large areas. The most noticeable difference that I have seen is the reduction of the appearance of hair - normally when I shave you are still able to see small dots under my skin where the hair will grow back but not since I started using this! That is a huge bonus for me. The hair that has grown back has been much finer and less coarse, another big bonus. I expected to have some sort of skin reaction, never having done laser hair removal before, but I have had zero sensitivity or irritation, something I was honestly surprised by. I have friends who have had professional laser hair removal done who ended up with awful skin irritation so I am very glad I haven’t had that happen. The best thing about this is the ability to use in privacy of your own home at your convenience; with COVID I despise having to go anywhere for any amount of time that requires me to wear a mask so not having to visit an office for these treatments has been so very nice. Eventually I do plan to take the time to use this on other, larger areas of my body. The time I save in not having to shave every day already is so beneficial so I’m hopeful that I can get to the point where shaving becomes obsolete one of these days. Overall I feel this product offers great value and convenience, and the ease of use makes it so worth it in the end. I definitely recommend if you have the time and patience to dedicate to the treatment and I hope that everyone will have excellent results like I have.

This is my first time ever using a hair removal device for the purpose of lasting hair removal and I must say, I’m impressed with the results. The product came within the allotted time specified and packaged well. The design of the device itself is sleek, and is simple to use. I read the instructions before use since, as stated above, this is my first time using such a device and I’m glad I did. Even if you are used to these devices, I would highly recommend reading the instructions before use. Some of the information felt a bit superfluous to me as the needed info was mainly located on a few pages. But I understand why the manufacturer would need to include everything, so this isn’t a critique. Anyway, I used the device as instructed once a week for 4 weeks on both of my legs (just the portion below the knee). The first 4 weeks I was shaving my legs regularly every 2-3 days as per normal. By week 5, I noticed I didn’t have to shave as often. By week 7, I was shaving less than once a week. Although the instructions warned of possible skin irritation and what to do if certain symptoms arose, nothing like that occurred. I plan on continuing to use the product for the recommended 12 weeks, then only use it for regular maintenance. But I’m loving the results so far and greatly appreciate not having to shave nearly as often as before, especially with summer around the corner. The only downside that has kept me from giving this 5 stars is that I tried using this on my face and couldn’t handle the stinging and irritation directly after the treatment. Even when lowering the intensity, I just couldn’t do it. So if you plan on using this for your face and especially if you have sensitive skin on your face, I’d maybe recommend a different product. Overall, I’m very happy with this device and plan on using it on other regions of my body I don’t want hair on.

According to the box my skin tone would work with it but when I tried it it didn’t work or only worked on the lowest setting sadly. My skin is light tan with gold undertone and black hair

After using this SmoothSkin Pure IPL hair removal device for 6 weeks, I have to say my experience was positive! There isn't much to it. Inside the box is the device and instructions. There isn't a power button, just the power cord to supply power. You activate the flashed by pressing the buttons. This device was so simple to use. I definitely recommend reading the instructions completely before using. I hair fairly light skin and medium dark hair. I had great results on my legs and armpits. After the second week I noticed a difference. By week 6 my hair is very light and much thinner than when I started. I will continue with the recommendation of going for 12 weeks total but I'm already pleased with my results. It says you also need touch ups every so often which will be so simple to do. It does sting a little bit, but pretty similar to a laser removal procedure- definitely tolerable but you do notice a slight sensation. Its a great cost-effective alternative to laser hair removal!

This did not work for me. I am middle eastern and have very thick dark hair and I used this for my armpits for 12 weeks straight and it said it would stop and slow down the hair growth but my hair still grows just as fast and dark as it usually is. My hair looked thinner when I waxed it. I am not sure if I did it wrong or what but I wouldn’t waste your money

I have been using the Smooth Skin Hair remover for a little over 6 weeks now. For the last 4 years I have had a area of course hair that grows in beneath the chin. I would pluck the hairs typically at the beginning of the week then would need to touch up mid week with more plucking. I was very excited to try this home treatment. The packaging looked very nice. I opened it up, read the instructions and began my weekly treatment. You must shave the area of treatment first. I will say the first “zap” freaked me out!! Lol. It was a quick, burning, zap kind of feeling, I can’t really find any other way to describe it. Almost like you were shocked. I also notice a slight smell, kinda like burned hair if you will but nothing crazy. I like how fast I’m able to treat my chin area and the fact that you don’t have to select a setting. The machine will adjust to your skin! You just apply pressure to the skin, press the button and zap! I thought that was an excellent feature. My skin was slightly red after treating my whole chin / face area but went back to normal pretty fast. I will say it took about a month for me to notice the growth decrease. Now I’m on I believe almost week 8, using it only on Sunday mornings (you can choose whichever day works for you obviously), so once weekly as instructed. The hair is not completely gone in that trouble area of mine BUT the hairs that are growing back I have noticed that they’re thinned out, they’re not as course in feeling and I’m no longer plucking my chin. I’m able to make it to each Sunday and then just shaving the area and applying the treatment. I can’t wait to see how it continues to react to the treatment. No more crazy chin hairs popping up every other day, thank goodness! Buy this! You won’t regret it and I cannot wait to use it on other areas of my body!

I'm going to preface this by saying that I have fairly pale skin and very dark hair, which probably affected the experience I had using this IPL system. Everyone is different, so your results may vary. The Smoothskin Pure is incredibly effective. I've been using it across specific areas of my body at a time since flashing my whole body at once is kind time-consuming and annoying, and the difference is visible. I did a patch test on an area of my leg and the place where I did the flash had hardly any hair regrowth compared to the surrounding area, even after a few weeks. On the spots where I've actually been using it seriously (mainly my arms and lower legs) it's been severely cutting down on how often I need to shave. The time investment is kind of a pain, but it's really nice to get that time back in less time shaving. I was worried at first that the system would be painful to use. For the most part, it isn't. The worst it normally feels like is when a shower gets uncomfortably warm. However, it actually did hurt on spots where my leg hair was particularly dense. That's where the gentle "leaf" mode came in handy - I clicked the leaf button when I got to those places and the flashes went from a really sharp sting to something a lot more dull and muted and pretty easily ignored. I didn't really use the automatic mode, however - my hands and motion aren't the steadiest and the warnings about what could happen if you flash the same spot twice made me fairly uncomfortable. Another nice thing about the Smoothskin Pure is that it looks nice. It's very aesthetically pleasing. It doesn't look like I have some hunk of junk or a scary medical appliance among my beauty supplies. I suppose in the end it doesn't really matter how it looks, but it's just something I like. It looks like a lot of care was taken to build it. There are several other features that are nice and worth mentioning as well. For one, the sensor that sets the power level: I don't have to worry about setting the power level wrong or anything, the device automatically sets the power level to what's appropriate. Additionally, it'll refuse to flash if I misplaced it so it's not firmly against my skin. Finally, it's really ergonomic - it's comfortable to hold and it doesn't hurt my hands to hold it for extended periods of time, and the buttons are easy to press while using it. Overall, I don't really see any flaws with this IPL system. I love it, it works great, and it's easy to use.

The Pure IPL is probably one of the best things I have ever used I can say after a few weeks of using it --- but it did not start that way. The first couple of uses I was a bit apprehensious because it really seemed like something only a professional should be using. Firstly, be sure to use it in a well lit area, otherwise the light flashes may irritate your eyes and blind you a little, I learned this the hard way. It also has three different strength settings, of which I have really only been able to use two constantly. The third settings was just too strong for me and I found my skin slightly burning for about 30 minutes or so after I did it, so I am only using the first and second settings for now. That being said, I'd suggest starting with the 2nd strength setting to sort of "break the ice" right away, because the first use was a bit jarring. It was slightly burning and I smelt a minor burning odor during use. The first two weeks I did not notice much change, but now after about six weeks, I am seeing that after a week since last use of the Pure IPL and no shaving, I only have some stubble on my legs. Yay! I think as I go, I will use the device less and less often, which is consistent with the instructions --- but do not use more often than once a week, even though you think you can. You may not be able to anyway because know IT WILL HURT SOME in certain more sensitive areas of your body. Overall, this is a GREAT investment, especially with the possibly of decreasing shaving frequency and not having to rush a shave at the last minute if needed --- just need to get past the initial jar of the light, the burning, the odor, and feeling like a professional should be doing this. Highly recommended!

I was waxing last summer so very glad I made the change. The SmoothSkin pure IPL is a great product!! I have been using it for 6 weeks now and am very pleased with the results. My underarms have only needed 3 treatments and I don’t see any hair regrowth so far. My legs are great but still have just a few little areas I must have missed that have just a slight stubble. I’m sure these will be gone with the continued usage! So thrilled to know by summer I will not have to shave any longer! There are 3 different settings – Gentle, Speed, and Power (default mode when it turns on). You use the IPL 1x/week and you must shave before using – I usually shave in the morning and the use the IPL before bed – usually takes about 10 minutes. There is no real on/off switch – you must unplug it if putting it down and walking away. The instructions are good and easy to understand – so glad they included pictures when they describe the variable power modes and the descriptions of what the modes do. The mode buttons are sensitive and depending on how I am holding the IPL I have accidentally changed modes. I use the stamp method on my underarms and the Glide method on my legs. The only problem I’ve had is when I go over the Tibia bone on the front of my leg I can’t get any white lights, difficult to use the glide method there because of real contact. There is a warm sensation while using the IPL, however I don’t find it uncomfortable. It seems a little more intense in the stronger settings. The flashes are intense so don’t look at it while using, either look away and/or use sunglasses. I would definitely recommend this product!
