Most people are going to have their phone with them to control music/volume, so it doesnt make a ton of sense to have the remote. The camera function makes sense, though. It does have the worst pause/play controls ive ever seen though. Generally, theres a prettt standard set of clicks used by most devices for certain functions. This device throws those out of the window and instead uses an arbitrary, confusing set of clicks to do its commands, which is annoying. Good luck using the "turn up volume" without losing your hearing.
