I bought this TV for my grandfather. He wanted a bigger screen than what he had, but didn't want to spend a lot. This fit both requirements perfectly. They didn't have a floor sample to check out, so it had to be purchased blind. However, I have several Toshiba products and have had no complaints. Once I got it to his home and set up, we were quite satisfied with what we saw.

I spent most of the Fall looking for the best 49inch TV I could find for the money I wanted to spend-(under $500),After reading the reviews and visiting Best Buy,I decided to buy The Toshiba.....I paid the sale price over the Thanksgiving time frame and was happy with the price-(wait;it gets better)...The 49"Toshiba was perfect for what I was looking for, because years ago I had a custom cabinet made for my living room, and the Toshiba was a perfect fit.A 50inch was too big and a 48" left a little room on each side.Anyway,I installed it by myself w/ot damaging or scratching anything and within an hour,I was all dialed in with myDirect TV and DVD player,(I say this because I'm not too hip to today's tech)I had no problems whatsoever. The TV is fantastic, the sound is adequate, but I did add a sound bar after 2 weeks because I do use Direct TV's music channels and wanted a fuller sound as well as for Movies.Until the Ultra HD TV's come down in price this is the best 49" TV I looked at for under $500.....and the best part,it went on sale for Christmas,$80 cheaper than I paid over Thanksgiving-Best Buy's online Customer Service looked up my order # and credited me back the difference with their Guaranteed Lowest Price Match Guarantee.....overall,an awesome experience and Great TV

Really nice FULL HDTV for the money. At just over $300 with taxes and some other fees, this TV cannot be beat. 49", a decent picture, nice remote, and plenty of hook-ups made this an easy buy for me. CON: 60hz and 9ms refresh rate on a 49" full hd tv is not so good.

I purchased the Toshiba to replace a 5-year old 46" Westinghouse. Not only is the screen 3.5 in. larger but the picture quality is comparable to the Westinghouse which was a 120hz. This Toshiba is a 60hz. No image drag in quick action scenes. Color is great and the sound is incredible, even at a low setting the bass is impressive. Adequate HDMI and USB ports are easily accessible. All this in addition to purchasing it at a very reasonable price. Very Satisfied.

Bought it on sale. Good sound for tv speakers. The pic is fine after you play around with the settings. It has too much contrast out of the box, which makes it dark, maybe even washed out alittle. Look for the dynamic contrast in advanced settings. bring it down a notch or two. Make adjustments as needed to suit your taste through out, sound, ect.. Learning to adjust devices is needed, very rare you get something that is adjusted for your needs from the box. I bought this on sale because I had thought about buying it in the past. I have had a 32" Toshiba for around 4 years, and it has been a good tv, and out lasted 3 other brands I had. There are other brands that are as good/better than this one, but when a good deal comes along, I usually take it.

I purchased this product on Black Friday for $150. I had an issue when first buying where it would not recognize the HDMI port, but was able to fix it after a few hours of tinkering around. The picture quality is good, but there is a bit of motion blur and the response time is not that great for playing fast paced video games and watching sports. You can't beat this for the price I got it at. At full price I would probably pass and get a smaller tv with better quality.

I bought this TV as a gift for my grandparents so I had the honor of hooking it up and testing it. This TV is amazing. The picture is very clear and there is no lag whatsoever. Compared this TV in store with a Sharp for slightly more $ (both in store were the smaller size). Picture was just as good but Toshiba price and reviews were better. I have had Toshiba laptops for the last 15 years so I know they are good quality and was confident of their LCD technology due to this. The purchase really made me want to buy one for myself at this price, but I just don't need an additional TV at this time. My TV is a "smart TV" and while the picture is good, there are drawbacks such as significant lag in using smart features and the picture and sound. This TV is so basic, which I think is highly beneficial. If you want a "smart TV", buy this and add a Roku, Apple, Chromecast, etc and add it on. You'll come out ahead with both products. Thanks again Toshiba!

When steeply discounted, as it has been recently, this TV is an excellent value. I've found the picture to be quite good for typical viewing. The only significant issue is that reflections off the glossy screen can be an problem in rooms with windows opposite the TV, but that's true of most TVs these days. Here are the settings that I'm using, which I think yields a much better picture vs. the stock settings: Picture Menu: Picture Mode: Standard Backlight: 22 (Assuming a dark room. I bump this up to about 75 during the day in a room with lots of ambient light.) Contrast: 85 Brightness: 0 Color: 2 Tint: +2 Sharpness: +10 Advanced Picture Setting sub menu: ColorMaster: on Base Color Adjustment: Red (Hue +6, Saturation -10, Brightness 0); Blue (Hue -3, Saturation 0, Brightness 0); Zeros for all others Color temperature: Medium Static Gamma: +3 DynaLight: Off Dynamic Contrast: Off Noise Reduction: Low Edge Enhancer: Off Picture Size Menu (Accessed by button on top right of remote) Native

Disclaimer: If you are looking for a Smart TV then I wouldn't recommend this TV. I am recommending this TV to those who already have a device for multimedia or a games console. I wanted to wait a couple months before reviewing this TV since day 1 you will usually have minimal issues. Months later I still find this TV to be great and perfect for the price range. It's no 4K Sony OLED but for most people this TV will probably actually impress you. The remote is straightforward and simple. The sound is nice and loud. (Sound buffs might want to get a proper sound system if you want true surround sound and gamers are better off using a headset) There also multiple picture modes that you can use to enchance picture on movies, TV shows, videos, video games. (highly recommend GAME mode if you are playing a game to reduce display lag) If you are right next to the TV you might see pixels but a larger TV like this is designed for sitting further away anyway. It supports HDMI, Component/Composite, Cable/Ant, and USB so most devices should be compatible. I highly recommend this product and pick it up if you ever see it in store.

Happened to stumble into my local Best Buy one day to take a look at some tv's. I just moved into my first place and was looking for a tv for my living room. I already had a 50" tv that I had gotten as a Black Friday special from a different retailer but wanted to use that in my bestroom. Happened to stumble upon the 49" Toshiba for an incredible price at $279. The tv has a great picture for the price and works well my Xbox One. The dual tv base stands are great and keep the tv stable. Would recommend this product to anyone looking to not break the bank but still don't want to skimp on quality.

Purchased this TV at the Black Friday price of $149. For the past 1.5 months its been great. I would have liked at least one composite input but I'm not going to not pick on a $149 49" TV. Felt a little flimsy compared to my old 37" Sharp LCD but this is also the first LED TV I've ever owned Also, I purchased the TV and got home to find that the TV was completely smashed inside a perfect box. Returned to BestBuy and they were great. Replaced with no hesitation and gave me 10% off. Always had good experiences with BestBuy, Thank You

...I love this TV...very sharp and the sound is very nice as well...I honestly have not seen a better deal and value than this other than if you were to line up on one of those Black Friday Sales...I bought this one a month ago when it went on sale for $330...then this week on President Day, for just one day the price dropped even further to a ridiculously cheap price of $279, so I had to pick up another one as well....I love the TV and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a "Non-smart TV"...best bang-for-the buck!!!

Purchased this TV for the Black Friday (2015) doorbuster price of $149.99 and can safely say that it was worth every penny at that price. This is a standard (non-smart) TV that is easy to setup and operate, offers an excellent, vibrant picture in 1080p, and provides 3 HDMI ports, which has been more than sufficient for my needs. I would say that this has been my best TV purchase to date.

Needed a thinner and lighter tv than my current 46" Panasonic PLASMA (69lbs) it was very heavy, and I was not comfortable placing it on the wall with kids around. So I was in search of a TV with the same or bigger screen size on a strict budget. This Toshiba weighs less than 30lbs, (thats over half the weight of my 46". And it has a very thin bezel, depth is much smaller than my old tv. Its very easy to hang, 3 HDMI's and Component/RCA Video connections. Im very happy with the TV. it will take some time getting use to the 60hz refresh rate over the 600hz plasma, however for my kids safety and my piece of mind, ill take it. ( I haven't noticed a difference yet) 1080p and it was 49" with a sub $300 price.... Awesome Find!

I bought 2 of these TV's on sale for President's Day. The price and quality were unbeatable. Great picture and good sound. Highly recommend. I did have an issue with one of the tv's 2 days after setting it up. It had a large light/dark shadow on the right hand of the screen. Returned it and was given a new one with no problems from Best Buy. Have not had a new problems since then.

If you are looking for a good basic TV with a decent picture, this is it. If you want a high end TV with lots of features and a beautiful picture, keep looking. I bought this TV for the kids' game room. Got it on sale for $279. Don't pay full price for this thing, it’s not worth the MSRP. But on sale it’s worth the money. Others got lucky and got it on Black Friday for $150, for that it was a steal. Picture isn’t bad but you will need to play with it a bit to get it just right. We are using it for gaming only, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Picture is good. Can get washed out a bit when the sun is hitting it in the late afternoon. If you turn the brightness up it will wash out the colors and end up too bright when the sun goes down. Not the most crisp and clear picture, but for a 49” tv under $300, you can’t go wrong.

I bought this TV for my mother. On sale at $279, it is an excellent value. Yes, there are better TV's out there but they all cost more money. At this price range for this size, this TV has a better picture, remote control, and color than BB's in-house brand (Insignia). So far, so good.

I purchased this TV on Black Friday at a steep discount, and while it is not a top of the line TV, it is absolutely good value for the money I spent. It took a little tweaking to get the picture settings squared away, but I'm pretty happy with where I have it now. Refresh rate could be better, but for what I paid I'm more than happy with this purchase.
