Condition Did Not Match the Listing

I ordered this Sonos Arc listed as “Excellent condition,” but it arrived with significant cosmetic issues. It was unboxed, had visible dirt and adhesive residue from a sticker applied directly to the unit, and was even missing a letter from the brand logo. This was far from what I’d expect for an item in “Excellent” shape, especially at this price point. The pickup process at the store was disorganized. It took several employees a long time to process the order due to missing packaging and serial number info, which left little opportunity to properly inspect the product before leaving. After getting it home, I tried to resolve the condition concerns through the appropriate support channels, but communication stalled, and I wasn’t able to get clear next steps. I appreciate that open box items can vary, but this listing felt misrepresented, and the lack of follow-up left me stuck with a product that did not meet expectations. I’ve had good experiences with open box before, but unfortunately, this one has made me much more cautious moving forward.

A worthy Dolby Atmos soundbar alternative

After upgrading the TV in our family room, we decided the old soundbar we were using needed an upgrade. We wanted a soundbar that could support full Dolby Atmos without requiring rear surround speakers as they would have needed to be placed on the floor and our young grandson would likely knock them over or be tempted to play with them. We decided on the Sonos Arc Ultra, which we purchased on sale at Best Buy. We weren't concerned about the lack of a remote, since we use our Apple TV to control our Samsung TV which in turn adjusts the volume on the soundbar through eArc (eARC being your only connection option for Dolby Atmos). Setting up the Sonos Arc Ultra through my iPhone was quite easy and I experienced no problems (some had reported issues with the previous Sonos Arc). The sound of the Sonos Arc Ultra without the rear speakers is quite good, although those expecting it to rival the sound of a very good hi-fi system might be disappointed. Note you have to use the Sonos app to see whether your Sonos unit is actually play Dolby Atmos or PCM 5.1. I would highly recommend this unit to those in a similar position us. If you have the ability to support rear speakers the Samsung Q990 soundbar is probably a better choice if you can get it on sale. We later purchased the Sonos Sub 4 to further enhance the sound qualities of the Sonos. We waited until it on went on sale and were then able to use the Best Buy points from our Sonos Arc Ultra purchase.

Don't let Best Buy mail you anything important because they will mail it in the Product Box and not a Shipping Box and you will end up returning damaged items. Drove back to the store again and returned immediately and I'll find somewhere else to shop. Horrible experience and huge waste of my time. Folks at the counter could not have cared less.

The sound bar itself sounds decent. As expected it’s nowhere near what you hear in the store but very good. The bass is the big seller. For the size it does have it. But for the price it’s not as complete a product as it seems. The additional speakers to complete the set are very pricy and are very buggy in the app. May be suitable for some but not what I was hoping to get for the cost.

Best soundbar and possibly speakers I’ve ever own. I live in a 2bd apartment on the second floor and I was looking for a new soundbar. I owned a Yamaha soundbar paired with a 6in subwoofer but it really suffered with dialog. I always felt like I was constantly adjusting the volume just to hear speech audio. Not only that but it would intermittently lose connection. I already own a pair of KEF Q100 bookshelf speakers that I use with my PC but I didn’t want to use them in our living room. They would take up too much space with stands and I don’t have a receiver. On my computer desk I have a small dac/amp but that wouldn’t work for my entertainment system. So I decided to buy a soundbar. After tons of research I decided to go with the Sonos Arc Ultra and I’m so glad I did. No more constantly messing with volume. Dialogue is crystal clear even with speech enhancement off. Night mode saves me from constant anxiety after 10pm that my volume or bass is too loud. Night mode is great for gaming and movies but not so much for music but that’s okay. The Arc Ultra also has a built in driver for bass and it packs a punch. If you live in apartment, want some rocking bass, but don’t want a dedicated sub then buy this soundbar. You’ll be more than happy. I ended up buying a Sonos Sub Mini only because I love body shaking bass (sorry neighbors). Again night mode is a life saver. It will reduce the bass a bit but the audio still sounds natural. Atmos/Spatial Audio is game changing too! My old soundbar had virtual Atmos but it doesn’t even compare to having dedicated upward firing speakers. It’s so immersive and I’ve been rewatching a lot of old movies just to experience their Atmos mix. Even my wife loves it. Our 4 month old baby also approves. We’re saving up for a pair of Era 300s next. The only thing is that I did have to run TruePlay tuning a few times to get it to sound like I like. The soundbar does get very loud especially when the source audio is Dolby Atmos. Volume levels will vary if the source audio is a different format but when it’s Atmos our volume rarely goes beyond 35. If it’s stereo or Multi Channel PCM it can creep up to 50. Overall I love this bar and plan on buying more Sonos products.

Love this soundbar. I purchased 2 Era 100’s as well. The bass is way more than expected from a soundbar. The sound quality is top notch. The only con, in my opinion, is the price. Even though its rather expensive for a system, the ease, quality & experience are undoubtedly worth it in the long run. I’d purchased three “cheaper” setups before finally biting the bullet and purchasing the Sonos setup & I wish i wouldve just done it from the start. The Sonos subwoofer and additionally two Era 300’s will be my final purchases. Its not needed by any means, but why not? Haha. It really is the most simplistic surround sound setup at the highest quality on the market. Other reviews have had issues with setup/app functionality, but I havent had any issues. That being said, there are two things I wish Sonos would rethink or make optional… i wish there was a remote to adjust the surround/EQ, etc., so i didnt have to use the app. When I come home, I dont want to be distracted by my phone anymore than I already am. Certainly not a deal breaker. Secondly, I wish mounts/stands were included for the price. I can be reasonable and say it’s understandable with the remote speakers, but the soundbar… almost $1k…? C’mon. I know its peanut shells in the grand scheme, but my perspective is that every dollar i spend equivocates to more time at work to pay for it & less time enjoying my family & the product ive purchased. Wishful thinking because i know everything is about the bottom dollar & shareholders these days, but if youre paying top notcb price, you shouldnt be shorted top notch options/flexability. Just my opinion.

One of the best AIO soundbars you can buy

The Sonos Arc Ultra is one of the best flagship soundbars you can buy under $1000 but lack of features and less accurate sound may make you look elsewhere. The design: the arc ultra looks very similar to the existing arc. It’s a little shorter in height in comparison so it may fit under tvs better. There’s a new bump out in the back that hosts the touch controls now rather than being integrated on the bar itself but overall the look and feel is largely similar. Features: Sonos has added some new features this time around in the form of their new sound motion tech, improved true play and Bluetooth support. It’s nice to see Sonos finally support Bluetooth in addition to the WiFi streaming options but we are still lacking any additional HDMI ports so we’re still taking up a port on the tv which is detrimental if you only have 2 hdmi 2.1 ports with one of them being the earc port. Replay this year comes in two flavors: the original trueplay now called advanced trueplay and quick trueplay which uses the microphones in the bar itself to do the tuning so both android users and iOS users can get in on the fun. I actually prefer quick play tuning even though I use an iPhone and you can still use your phones microphone for part of the quick tuning if your using iOS so it’s the best of both worlds. Performance: the original Arc was already a great performer and the Ultra elevates that performance to another level. Dialogue is much improved over the arc and outside of very poor audio mixes I’ve never had to use the dialogue enhancement feature. The sound itself is very good with good powerful forward projection and a surprisingly wide soundstage due to the virtual wide surround channels. The bar touts itself as a 9.1.4 bar and while it makes an admirable attempt you don’t quite get surround sound. You do get a sense of a 3d bubble but rather than being inside the bubble it’s more a sense that the bubble is in front of you with you being able to tell something like left surround being in a space to the bottom left in front of you. The height channels are very clear sounding and user adjustable in the app for how boosted or not you want them to be but there is no chance of you ever feeling like it’s a .4 system, the height effects are very much centered in the front of the room. The new sound motion tech is actually very interesting. There is a considerable boost to the bass performance with the tech and was even able to make the floor rumble in my room even with the bar sitting on top of the tv legs. I’d actually say that I don’t think you actually need to get a sub to experience bass but getting a Sub/Sub mini will allow you to go a little lower and be a little smoother also freeing up the bar to enhance the midtones instead. There’s only one real issue that I have with the bar and it’s that it’s not necessarily an accurate sound. I’ve played multiple different sources of media that I’m intimately familiar with and while it all sounded really good, they all sounded somewhat off. Especially for higher pitched treble sounds it feels like the pitch is wrong. For most people this probably won’t bother them with how great the sound is in general but it’s something to be aware of. In conclusion, the arc ultra offers a very good mix of sound quality, tech improvements, and features making it one of the best all in one soundbars but there are both more expensive and less expensive bars that either provide more features, better accuracy, or just more speakers and real channels.

This soundbar blew my mind after I got it set up with the Sonos app! It has a generous amount of front, side, and height firing speakers that make a clear and dynamic difference. It also has 4 small subs for bass if you do not want to get the Sub 4. These do a solid job and offer a decent amount of bass. But when you pair this soundbar with any of their subwoofers it has a completely realize depth that is worth the buy. Go check out the demo at your local store!

I’m no audiophile but you can clearly hear the difference between the regular arc and the arc ultra. The speech enhancement feature makes it so that it picks up vocal audio more clearly but lightens the background music/sound. It’s very interesting configuring the speech enhancement from low, medium, and high settings. VERY IMPORTANT: If you have a Sonos Sub paired with the Arc Ultra and speech enhancement is turned on, the bass isn’t as heavy hitting as it tries to prioritize more vocals. This can be adjusted to match your preferred audio hearing. If speech enhancement is turned off and it’s connected to a Sonos Sub, the bass feels more distinguishable. The Arc Ultra itself has added bass so if you were to build upon your audio set up, I’d suggest getting the era 100’s or 300’s. -Voice command (It’s an ok feature that isn’t really nothing to brag about and can be easily turned off) -The volume slider is a unique feature and responds immediately with each touch. I’d give it an overall 4/5 as while there are noticeable changes compared to the previous Arc, I don’t think you really need to upgrade. If you already have an Arc and you’re on the fence about getting the new one, I’d suggest upgrading your set up by adding either a Sub or any of the Eras. Finally, many people have complained about system issues with the Sonos App. As far as I’m concern, I haven’t gotten a single issue using the app. My only conclusion to the app is that it’s Apple orientated as it recently pushing for an Android friendly service.

Thank you for your detailed review and valuable insights on the Arc Ultra! We're thrilled to hear that you’ve noticed the clear improvements in sound quality, especially with the speech enhancement feature, and the added bass. It’s great to know that you’ve been able to adjust the settings to your preferences and have enjoyed the overall audio experience.

We also appreciate your thoughts on the system setup and the Sonos app. It's helpful to hear that you haven’t encountered the app issues others have mentioned, and your feedback on the voice command feature and the volume slider is useful for future users to understand what to expect.

Your suggestion of adding a Sub or Era speakers for an enhanced experience is definitely a good recommendation for those looking to build upon their setup. As for the upgrade decision, it seems that the Arc Ultra is a solid option for anyone looking to improve their system, but for those already with an Arc, your advice to consider adding complementary devices makes a lot of sense.

Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we’re glad to hear you’ve been enjoying your Sonos system overall! john.milton

The Sonos Arc Ultra is a game-changing soundbar, elevating home theater audio to new heights. As an expert in the field of audio technology, I can confidently say that this soundbar is a serious contender for those seeking premium, immersive sound quality without the complexity of a full surround sound system. **Sound Quality:** The Sonos Arc Ultra delivers a rich, dynamic sound profile with incredible clarity and depth. The integration of Dolby Atmos, paired with its upward-firing speakers, allows for a 3D sound experience that makes you feel like you're surrounded by the action. Dialogue is crisp and intelligible, even in the most complex soundscapes, while the low end is surprisingly punchy for a soundbar, making it suitable for everything from action films to music listening. The advanced room calibration technology ensures optimal sound dispersion tailored to your space, creating a balanced, high-fidelity listening experience no matter where you are in the room. **Design & Build:** The Arc Ultra retains the sleek, minimalistic design Sonos is known for, with a premium metal grille and a matte finish that fits seamlessly into any modern living space. It’s large enough to make a statement but still compact enough to fit under most TV setups. The build quality is exceptional, reflecting Sonos’ commitment to both aesthetics and durability. **Features & Connectivity:** The Arc Ultra is packed with features, including support for HDMI eARC, which ensures high-quality audio pass-through from your TV, and full integration with the Sonos app for a streamlined, user-friendly setup. The speaker’s Wi-Fi connectivity and Apple AirPlay 2 compatibility make streaming music and podcasts effortless, while the voice control via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant offers additional convenience. If you’re already invested in the Sonos ecosystem, the Arc Ultra can integrate smoothly with other Sonos devices to create a multi-room audio setup or a true surround sound experience by pairing it with a Sonos Sub and rear speakers. **Performance:** Performance-wise, the Arc Ultra is a powerhouse, producing room-filling sound with a level of clarity and directionality that few soundbars can match. The addition of the upgraded processors means that sound reproduction is more precise and immersive. The soundbar excels in delivering an enveloping, cinematic audio experience, making it ideal for watching movies, sports, or gaming. However, while the Arc Ultra offers superb sound quality, its premium price may make it less appealing for those on a tighter budget, especially if you don't plan to invest in a full Sonos surround system. For those who do, the Arc Ultra represents a significant step forward in terms of audio fidelity, ease of use, and integration within the broader Sonos ecosystem. **Conclusion:** The Sonos Arc Ultra sets a new standard for soundbars, blending top-tier sound quality, cutting-edge features, and an elegant design. It’s perfect for audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts looking for an all-in-one solution that offers both stellar performance and the flexibility of integration with a wider Sonos network. If you’re looking to elevate your home entertainment experience, the Arc Ultra is an outstanding choice—just be prepared to pay for its premium quality.

This is my first foray into higher end sound bars. I moved to Sonos from a $150 TCL soundbar. The sound quality is spectacular. It’s a massive difference from the cheap stuff. The soundbar does a great job isolating voices and making it easy to understand movies and shows. The atmos works well, but isn’t perfect. It depends a lot on where you are sitting in relation to the soundbar, too (head on, to the side, etc.) The biggest issue I had was, once I got it, I wanted more. This soundbar gives you a taste of what could be an OUTSTANDING audio set up. Naturally, I had to get the Sub Mini to go with it. Adding the sub makes this a 100% solutions for a basic high-end setup. You’ll want for nothing. Adding rear speakers takes it to the next level. Then you get a complete surround sound experience. Everything synced perfectly with the app and setup was fast. The EQ settings work well and make a noticeably impact. Let me reiterate - you can get this, and only this, and be perfectly happy. Blown away, even, by the fidelity and quality. However, Sonos makes it SO EASY to integrate other components that you may find yourself dropping another $1000 (or two…) and creating an amazing soundscape for yourself. Then, of course, you’ll be upgrading your TV because if the sound is so good the picture better be as well… I guess what I’m saying is that once you get a taste it can snowball ;) It’s a perfect jumping off point, though, as you can add to it over time.

Excellent soundbar when paired with the Sonos Sub 4. If you dont want a whole complex home audio system then this is it. Sennheiser Ambeo products were next in line but I saw some mixed reveiws so I went with Sonos. Now with the arc and sub (& new hdmi cable) I'm basically at $2,000. Thats not an easy pill to swallow but I decided daddy needed a treat. The audio is great, the dialog is exceptional coming from a top-of-the-line Denon product. Set up was a breeze and it take a few extra minutes to run updates. If you are not super picky about audio, you could probably buy a handful of other 2.1 systems that will get you close for at least $1,200 less. If the money isnt an issue, pull the trigger and pick this up ASAP, dont think twice.

The sonos arc ultra is a nice upgrade to the sonos arc. It is certainly not a significant upgrade. It is more of a refinement as it is 15%-20% better than the sonos arc. The improvements are better bass and voices from the arc ultra. It is definitely worth the $100 price difference between the arc and the arc ultra. However, if you currently have an arc, you will not notice a huge improvement. The arc is an amazing sound bar, one of the best, the arc ultra is slightly better. I believe the arc ultra is better than both the bose ultra and the bravia theater bar 9, offering better bass and clearer and crisper voices. Music is also much better on the arc ultra than either of these two sound bars.
