We purchased 2 of these speakers two weeks apart. The first was a cinch to set up, the second is nothing short of a nightmare. No matter how many times I reset to factory settings it will not register. When I call customer support the wait time is at least 60 minutes.

I was pretty excited to get my wife some Sonos speakers for Christmas thinking it would be much better than the cheap Bluetooth speakers she has been using (at least they sound great on display), and with WiFi capability could add extra speakers to the system for other parts of the house later. Unboxing is basically where the excitement ended.
I bought her an Era 300 and a Move 2, started with setting up the Era 300. Won’t connect, won’t update, find something that says to use an Ethernet cable to update…. but then found out you need to buy an adapter from Sonos since there is no Ethernet port. Switch to setting up the Move 2, which appeared to connect and update without an issue.
Back to setting up the Era 300…more won’t update messages. Reboot the speaker several times…nothing. Factory reset the speaker several times (which means each reset you have to try reconnecting)…nothing. Reboot the WiFi AND the speakers several times…nothing!
At some point both speakers magically showed up and was able to play some music. Next time opening the app, again nothing….neither speaker is connected. They seem to just vanish into thin air as if they were never connected in the first place.
This is a very frustrating ordeal and not worth the hassle of spending valuable time on the phone for probably an hour, with someone I can’t understand what they’re saying, to end up in the same place I am now…speakers that just won’t connect or stay connected. That being said, everything…and I really mean everything else connected to our WiFi works flawlessly. Even our backup generator which only gets a 24% WiFi signal is connected and sends me messages when it exercises, when the exercise cycle is complete, and that it is ready to run. The generator accomplishes this at 24% signal through walls and probably 30-40 ft from the modem, the speakers are 12 and 15 ft away.
Too much hassle….returning these headaches to Best Buy when I am off this weekend!!!
