I bought this “Open Box.” The speaker works, but it was listed as Condition: Excellent, which means the package is in perfect condition with everything included. The box arrived in terrible condition. Some items inside the box were incomplete, and I had to reset the speaker to manufacture.

I have a pair of these and have to say they exceeded my expectations. The Trueplay technology helps make setting it up a breeze and the sound is amazing. The speakers are great but the app can use some fine tuning to improve usability and make it the great companion app that it should be.

I just wanted to say how happy I am with the Sonos Five. The sound is incredible — clear highs, rich mids, and deep bass that’s powerful without ever sounding muddy. Even when I turn it up, everything stays clean and balanced. It fills the room so well that it honestly feels like I’m surrounded by the music, no matter what I’m listening to. The speaker itself feels very well made, and you can tell a lot of thought went into its design. With the multiple drivers and amplifiers working together, it performs like something far more expensive. The sealed design also gives the bass a really tight, refined quality that I wasn’t expecting from a speaker this size. I also tried the Trueplay tuning in the app, and it made a noticeable difference in how the speaker sounds in my room. It’s clear that Sonos put a lot of care into making sure it sounds great in any environment. The only thing I wish it had was Bluetooth, but honestly, the sound quality more than makes up for that. Overall, I’m extremely pleased — the Sonos Five has been an amazing addition to my setup and has exceeded my expectations in every way. Thanks for carrying such a great product.

The Sonos Five has completely changed how I listen to records at home. Running a stereo pair connected to my turntable, the soundstage is wide, immersive, and incredibly detailed — deep bass, clear mids, and crisp highs that do justice to vinyl. Trueplay tuning dials everything in perfectly, and together they fill the room effortlessly at any volume. Worth every penny

    Best Speaker I Own!

I'm a total music addict, and let me tell you, this speaker is on a whole other level. It can even outperform some car audio setups, believe it or not! I actually have two of them and I'm absolutely obsessed with the Sonos brand because of it. The sound is so rich and the bass is just incredible...yes, please! The only downside is the connectivity. You have to use the Sonos app (which isn't great) or have another Sonos speaker with Google/Alexa integration to get the best experience. Apart from that, it's definitely worth buying, no doubt about it!

For the size, this is an awesome speaker. It has great clarity, really good kids and deep bass for a speaker this size. It really fills a room. I liked it so much I purchased a second speaker for pairing. Integration is seamless with other Sonos speakers like roam or move to create 360 degrees of sound. The bad part, high price tag. And every time you move it, needs to be tuned. Definitely not meant for constant moving around the house. All In all. A great speaker.

Well-worth, iPhone-like “S” upgrade for those new to Sonos. I had the opportunity to try a Sonos certified, Refurbished Play:5 Gen 2 (2015) from Best Buy before opting for this newer Five (2020). I had to return for Play:5 for reasons to follow—so bear with me here. Was it sounding dramatically different? - After being broken-in, bottom line is, not really. It’s the same full and rich sound as Play:5 gen 2. But if you’re new to Sonos and intend to use this for music (emphasis on music), pick the Five over Play:5. - What’s the point of this Five then? Visual upgrade? The new matte finish in white is gorgeous. You NEED to see it in person for yourself. These photos do not do it any justice. BUT where the newer Five shines is the connectivity and internals. After trying this new Five, Play:5 started to show it’s age: longer song load/connect times, random Wi-Fi dropping and resetting-to-new which after internet research do plague Play:5s (I experienced this just few days in with Play:5, and even after my troubleshooting I had to return it). No hiccups like this with my new Five which makes music listening more enjoyable. The new Five is (relatively) fast and if you’re new to Sonos, save yourself and get Five instead. Again, if you want to enjoy your music (decent for movies, but that’s NOT what it’s for) without the headaches, Five is well worth the jump over Play:5 gen 2. PS: My notes for those new to Sonos ecosystem: - Though not necessary, an optimal spot is still beneficial. - You need to break it in for a few days. - Trueplay AND THEN EQ to taste. - With the new Sonos S2 app, you CANNOT stereo pair Five (2020 gen 3) with a Play:5 (2015, gen 2). You can however group Five/Play:5 in the same “room” but it is NOT the same as a stereo pair. You need a Five-Five to do that. - For the uninitiated you will need to set up with a preferably iOS smartphone, otherwise focal-point Trueplay will not be available to you. This set up process can get tedious (but doable) to those not versed on smartphone use.

Pros: The sound from this speaker is phenomenal and the build quality is what you would expect from a speaker at this price point. It has a good range of volume and can fill your house with music without worrying about the crackling sound that less well made speakers do. Cons: the only thing I didn’t like about this speaker was that It cannot be connected to a tv via the bluetooth, even if your tv is bluetooth compatible. With that in mind, if youre just wanting something that produces great sound and are music focused, then this speaker is well worth it.

I should have bought this speaker a long time ago. I have the Sonos Five set up in my garage so when I’m working out, working on my car, or fiddling around I can listen to more than just nature and cars going by. It was simple to set up via WiFi after downloading the app. Since it’s setup over WiFi, if you get a phone call your music keeps playing. The only thing is that you can’t seem to start your music selection from the Apple Music app if you’re already on a phone call when trying to connect. I think you can do this however through the Sonos App. Either way, this is a great speaker. It’s plenty loud at half volume and the bass is pretty impressive, especially after playing with the EQ. I do plan on adding an actual subwoofer once I decide if it’s worth paying $700 for the Sonos Amp to connect the Five and sub together. Oh, and according the Sonos, you can necessarily just go and get another brand’s Amp to use with it. It has to be theirs, which is kind of lame cause I don’t use my speaker THAT much to justify dishing out $700 just for the Amp, not including another $200 for a decent sub. But at the end of the day, the Sonos Five is excellent. I plan on buying another Sonos speaker for my back patio. Sonos makes great speakers!

We debated between the 5 and the Move. So glad we got the 5. Yes, it’s a bit pricey but it’s an investment. It’s something we use every single day. It adds to the ambience of the home. Was able to get a discount on an open box one in excellent condition. Had a little trouble with set up but Sonos customer service was awesome. The tech was so helpful and patient with me. I find we use the Sonos station the majority of the time. I just love discovering new music that I likely never would have. The sound is great. Crisp and clear no matter what level volume it’s on. We have it in the living room of our smallish condo and can hear it in all the rooms by adjusting the volume. Have not done auto tune yet. I am someone who is so glad this is wifi and not blue tooth! I hated the music getting interrupted when the cell phone rang with our old bluetooth speaker! ! So nice that we don’t worry about that anymore. The unit looks really nice. And if we ever move to a larger place, we could always get additional Sonos speakers for other rooms. Very pleased so far with the 5 and would recommend if you love music.

Its seamless integration with streaming services and smart home systems like Alexa and Google Assistant adds convenience. The sleek design fits any room, and the multi-room capability enhances the listening experience throughout your home. While it’s on the pricier side, the sound performance and smart features make it a worthwhile investment for audiophiles and tech enthusiasts.

I mainly use them for surround sound for movies, you here some much more than before. Top Gun is a great example, Awesome. The wife enjoys listening to all types of music and she is very satisfied. Very crisp and clear, base is great. We've had it up loud for long periods of time and they still work and sound the same as when we 1st got them. This is our 2nd set of play 5s, we did have one stop connecting to pair up for surround sound. We did buy the 4yr protection plan, definitely worth the extra money. We were able to exchange both old play 5s, for the play 5s for the cost of another 4 year protection plan(was optional to have to buy it again(but again worth it, especially considering how expensive they are)). Only down side is the interface on the app to control them when trying to trouble shoot connecting issues(with the old play 5s), could be more user friendly. I would give the play 5 a 4.75 overall, so I rounded up to 5.
