Five is GREAT, but One SL's may serve the purpose

Loved the SONOS Five and really appreciate the fact that the Best Buy sales person said I could try it out and return it if not satisfied. I did truly love the SONOS Five, but found that I could purchase a couple of One SL's and place them in the house easier due to the size of the Five. I had thought about using 2 SONOS Five's as back speakers with my Arc and Sub, but was talked into to SL Ones which was a wise choice. I purchased more SL Ones for the home, but wanted to know how the Five would do in comparison, hence the sales person telling me to buy it and return it if I wasn't happy. Like I said, I was VERY happy with it, but due to the size and cost I opted to buy more One SL's to spread over the house as the Five is pretty big and much harder to locate in a bedroom. It did sound better, especially the bass, but the adjustments with the equalizer function on the One SL's made it acceptable. So I returned the Five and now have a total of 6 One SL's, a Move, an Arc and a subwoofer providing outstanding music sounds throughout the house.

Impressive sound and quality as comed to expect from Sonos. Connectivity is an issue, even with an Orbi mesh system. I wish they would also add a Bluetooth feature as they do in the Sonos Move. I use this speaker in my garage so only use it sparingly….but this thing hits!

The Sonos Five is their top of the line speaker. Whats better than a single speaker? A pair. The stereo pair is amazing, but is also fine as a single speaker. Sound is different for everyone. You may not appreciate the five as much as say the new Era 300 depnding on your ears and music preferences. Or you may hot even be able to hear the difference. I have both, in pairs. To me, the difference is like comparing where you are hearing the music. The Five sounds like music in a theatre with wood and stone. The Era 300 sounds like music in a cafe with glass and maybe marble. They're both amzing but the spatial audio of the 300s really give the five a run for its money. For the lows, bass, I would say the Five wins. As with most things Sonos, you have to have the volume turned up to 45-50 to say now thats a good speaker. Of course anything over 60 your neighbor might be knocking on the wall if you happen to share a wall. The five is older tech, no doubt, so no bluetooth audio. The Sonos app is getting better with age but some services like Youtube Music is still a bit painful to find what you are wanting to hear. Other music services each have pluses and minuses while accessed via Sonos controller. HD music or lossless sounds amazing on either model. The reason i now have a pair of Sonos Fives is because i have opted to use the Era 300s as surrounds with the Arc sound bar on the tv. What you dont discover til after purchase is that once in this setup, the bluetooth direct stream from device is now inoperable. And using the 300s as a stero pair is also no longer an option unless you ungroup your surround setup and reconfigure back to a pair. Not impossible but time consuming whenever you want to play music the old fashion way in stero. So Sonos got more money from me just because of my need for simplicity. Could you save money and just do a couple Era 300s and be satified with your purchase? Absolutely. The Fives might be more appealing with their square appearance and 3.5mm aux input. Are other speakers better than Sonos? Yes. It's more about the ecosystem. Once you buy into it, you just keep expanding.

What can i saw, they sound amazing. I did run into the error on it not finding the speaker, but was able to figure it out with ease. I use a android phone, amd people would saw to exit tue app and go back in for it to pick up the speaker.... well i noti ed even when i closed the app, the sonos app would still be in the upper LEFT of my phone like i was playing music. I rebooted my phone, and it did pickup the new speaker. Glad i figured this out as a lot of people seem to run into issues when they connect to five speakers for their surround sound. I currectly have the ark, 2 fives, Gen 3 sub. It literally sounds like im in a movie theater. My only complaint is this system is insanely expensive for the whole setup.

I purchased the Sonos 5 in white. The set up is very easy to follow (very Apple-esque) and I like that it automatically registered my speaker. This speaker fills up my living room area. The sound quality is great for this product, but not as great as a two stereo set up of high end speakers which run up of $2k-$3k or more. But, for $500 this speaker provides great sound quality and works with my pandora, amazon music, and iheartradio apps to play whatever music I am feeling. Plus it has an outlet so you can plug in for playing form another device and you can even feed in a record player if you get an adaptor for the input into the Sonos 5. Pleased with my purchase.

I wish I would have purchased the Sonos Five years ago! I've had several Sonos Play 1's throughout my home for at least 5 years now and I use them all the time. I always wished the Play 1's had more bass or more robust sound, but was always hesitant to buy a Sonos Five due to the cost. I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase one and I am extremely glad I did and as I said earlier, I wish I would have done it years ago. I have a Sonos Five and 2 Play 1's in a very large room and you can definitely tell when the Sonos Five is not turned on. I played several different songs and would turn the Five off and on and you can definitely tell how much extra sound the Five adds.

Worthwhile if it's on discount, but otherwise I think it's too expensive. Sounds really good. Seems to work okay with Spotify with some quirks here and there but good quality.

I'm all in on Sonos as a system throughout my house. I added the Sonos 5 to connect to a turntable and needed to have a Sonos speaker with a line in. This was the only one. The speaker is physically smaller than I thought it would be from the pictures, but it sounds fantastic. Other than a Sonos Playbase, this is the largest Sonos that I have and it had more bass than I thought it would - even before adjusting the EQ in the app. If you have other Sonos speakers and are looking to add another one, the Sonos Five will not disappoint. I highly recommend it.

I wasn't expecting such a great sound quality from this unit. It is a bit large but worth the money for my patio. I can now extend the range of my Sonos soundbar to my garden or my larger rooms.

Sonos five sounds exceptionally good. However it is let down by limited connectivity options especially of you are not in the Apple ecosystem or need them to connect to tv for even a rare occasion considering the need to listen to music videos especially when they sound this great.

I have 10 grand worth of Sonos speakers. Everything from the Arc Ultra with a gen 4 sub down to the Era 100. Out of the Five, the Era 300 and the Era 100. The five obviously sounds the best. Then I kind of think the 100 sounds better than the 300. Two 100s definitely sound better that one 300. The five doesn't need a sub imo. The 300 and 100 can use one along with the Arc and Arc Ultra. Once you get 14 of the tied together, they can start to get a little laggy when giving them commands. Even with 2 Gigs up and down internet. I think the most you can have on one Network is around 32.

I'm a huge Sonos fan and have many speakers throughout my home. When I moved into my new space I realized that the single One SL in my room felt kind of small for the space so I decided to jump in and get the Five. I have been completely satisfied. I use it in the horizontal orientation and it 100% takes advantage of the added size. I quickly noticed the difference in the warmth of the sound and obviously it filled the room with sound better. And of course it's easy to use through both the Sonos app and Spotify.

I have every Sonos speaker. The Fives are the best for music hands down. I have only used as a stereo pair or individually, but I am a sure they would sound even more incredible if I paired with the Sub. To be honest, I can't even turn them above 50 because the bass is that strong and I live in an apartment. I can't imagine what full volume would sound like. A pair of these is great, but even just one sounds phenomenal as well. They are expensive, but you won't ever regret the purchase based on performance, that's for sure.

I had two sonos 1s and was extremely happy with them. I decided to buy a Sonos 5 for the kitchen to expand music through my downstairs. I plugged this in, set-up was a breeze, and I can’t say enough how happy I am with the sound. It has such a full sound with impressive bass. It’s on our kitchen bow window, so when we’re outside I can open the window and turn the speaker outside and it fills the entire pool area with awesome sound. My only regret is that I should have bought this instead of the two sonos 1s initially.
