This speaker is that it doesn’t connect well with my DJ turntable/controller. It has a serious lag of about 4 seconds when directly connected RCA - aux. it’s very disappointing. I’ll be returning this speaker to shop for a more user friendly, synced, and convenient Bluetooth enabled speaker.

Can't use my expensive sound system half the time

The speakers are great. However you're locked into the Sonos ecosphere and it's historically unreliable. And since a major update to the app earlier this year, it total crap. Half the time I can't play music through my speakers, which I spent over $2,000 on for the house, and I spend all my time trying to trouble vague error messages. I regret having bought into Sonos.

Sonos makes amazing speakers. Som will say the sound isn't the *absolute* best, and they're probably correct. But if you're even just an average listener these speakers will far exceed your expectations. The wireless connectivity and whole-home audio experience makes it even better.

    Hardware great / App-control poor

I’ve had a SONOS Play 5 gen1 and 2 SONOS Play 5 Gen 2. I was disappointed when SONOS moved to the new app, which did not support gen 1, but I lived with it, since my gen 1 speaker is out in the garage workshop, not connected to my other 2 speakers (gen 2). SONOS then later (improved??) fiddled with the app, and made my music library on my android device, not accessible. - - - Grit my teeth and bear it. Now SONOS has dropped the garage door on accessing my entire music library on my PC. Really concerned about my PC security. Now I have to blow another $150 for an NAS drive and move my music over - - - - REALLY ???!!!. Sonos should be providing every owner a $150 certificate, or else redo accessibility on the apps. Personally, I’ve had it !!! Sonos makes great hardware but their apps stink ! Their 2nd release in June of the new app is still cluunky. I pullup the app on my android tablet - nothing there. Redo 2-3 x, finally finds speakers. Meanwhile my wife is trying to access speakers on her android - Nothing to be found.. I think the SONOS CEO thinks he’s putting out a great product, because he has 24/7 yech support, unfortunately, I don’t. I just want to paly my music. Put em up for sale on Craigs list - - - - Buy bluetooth speakers..

    Great speaker Terrible Support

While the sound quality is great, Sonos Support is terrible. They gave me very misleading answers. And in fact I believe gave me deliberately incomplete answers. While I like the speaker, Sonos Support leaves a lot of questions.

Warning Don’t Buy Sonos Until They Fis The App

Great sound. But since they rolled out an app update they do not play consisently. Imagine outfitting a whole home $1,000’s and they wont play as designed. Very very messed up. You’ve been forewarned.

I'm truly sorry for the frustrating experience you've had with the Sonos Five after the app update. I understand how upsetting it must be, especially after investing so much into outfitting your home with a system that isn't working as expected. Your concern about the inconsistency in performance is valid, and we take it seriously.

There are a few steps you could try to stabilize the connection and performance:

Network Check: Sometimes network issues can cause connectivity problems. Ensure your speakers are on a strong and stable Wi-Fi network, and try restarting your router.

Firmware Update: Confirm that both your app and speakers are running on the latest firmware. Sonos regularly releases updates that may fix bugs related to performance.

Reboot Devices: A full reboot of the entire Sonos system (including your router) can sometimes resolve lingering software issues.

Contact Support Again: If none of these steps help, I’d recommend contacting Sonos support with this specific issue. They may be able to escalate the problem or offer more tailored troubleshooting. Reach us at support.sonos.com.

We appreciate your patience, and we’re committed to helping you find a solution john.milton

Don’t be fooled with ‘easy plug and play setup.’ You’ll likely spend 45 minutes to and hour just resetting and re-adding the speaker to your network anytime you move or god forbid change ISPs.

To address the connectivity and setup issues with your Sonos Five, here are some solutions you can try:

Update the Sonos App and Firmware: Ensure that both your Sonos app and the speaker's firmware are up to date. This can resolve many connectivity issues.

Reboot Your Router and Speaker: Sometimes, simply rebooting your router and the Sonos Five can resolve connectivity problems. Unplug both devices for about 30 seconds, then plug them back in.

Assign a Static IP Address: If you frequently change ISPs or move, consider assigning a static IP address to your Sonos Five. This can help the speaker maintain its connection to your network more reliably.

Relocate Your Speaker: Ensure that your Sonos Five is within a good range of your Wi-Fi router and that there are no significant obstructions or interference from other wireless devices.

Factory Reset the Speaker: As a last resort, if all else fails, you can perform a factory reset on your Sonos Five and set it up again from scratch. Be aware that this will erase all settings and connections, so it should be done as a final step.

By following these steps, you should be able to improve the setup and connectivity experience with your Sonos Five. Apologies again for the frustrating experience and I hope these tips help you get back up and running. john.milton
