Bought the amazon echo last year, no comparison in sound

Best Decision we made was to invest in sonos speakers for our house. Very easy to install and work through smartphone. Easy to control through app. Worth the investment. Good sound for a small speaker.

Plug and play speakers that sound great and easy to control from any portable device. Change volume in each room or play different music in each location. I have 14 all over my home. Love these!

Good news/Bad news. The good? The Sonos One's sound amazing. It's a small attractive speaker that puts out incredible sound. If you buy 2 and pair them in stereo they are frankly tough to beat. I own a Homepod and anyone telling you a Homepod beats out stereo paired Sonos ones is full of it. I have stereo paired Ones in my bedroom and adore them. I play Spotify, Sirius XM, Amazon Music and mp3's right off my desktop computer on these speakers with no issues. This is a great product. So the bad? The Alexa on this is pretty terrible. Alexa doesn't hear you when you say "Alexa" from a foot or two away when there is music playing. So if you want to say "Alex off!" or "Alex skip track" or "Alexa turn it up!", 9 out of 10 times she doesn't hear you and do the command. My Amazon Echo in our kitchen hears all commands no matter how much noise is going on in the background. I think the microphone they put in this is substandard. If you're getting this to be your Alexa assistant move on. If you're getting this to have Sonos speakers in a small package that sound great alone and in pairs? Buy with confidence.

For some context, I already own a Sonos Beam and two Play:1 speakers. What I love about Sonos is that you are able to create a sound system that fills every room of your house and all you have to do is plug the speaker into an outlet; no speaker wires required! I put this specific speaker in my kitchen because it has Alexa built in, so I can use it to set timers and listen to npr while I cook. To me the sound quality is great (admittedly, I'm not an audiphile). It sounds even better when paired with another speaker for stereo sound (this is the setup I have in my living room). Overall, if this is within your price range, I would not hesitate to buy this speaker.

Bought these as standalone speakers for 4 rooms and they have been phenomenal. Crisp and clear sound, and elegant design to go with them. I've gone from a BOSE fanatic to heretic in 2 quick months.

If you have played with Echo's or dots, you understand their sound quality limitations. Sonos has always done an impressive job delivering high audio quality in a compact and wireless form factor. I have 5 amazon Alexa's (echo/2nd gen/dot) and 2 Sonos One. The audio quality is not in comparable Sonos dominates clearly, however: Your Amazon Echo can NOT group with Sonos for everywhere play, in addition you can NOT utilize Alexa Drop-in functionality; otherwise Sonos is superior to Echo's. I strongly recommend that if you are trying to build home level audio you should consider adding the Sono Sub to your configuration. 1 Sub and 6 Sonos (1x "One", and 5x "Plays") easily covers 2-3K sq/ft at fun levels!

I purchased the 5.1 system and scratch my head now wondering why I waited so long? Yes it is expensive, but the quality is unsurpassed. The ease of use, product quality, and sound quality are incredible.

Love listening to my streaming music service through my Sonos speaker. Alexa makes things easier. Now I can have music in all my rooms...Alexa can and does make mistakes, but she does get better with updates.
