The Sonos Play:1 is best paired for stereo separation and with their Sub for some really nice sound without a full stereo, hi-fi system. Sonos tech. support is awesome. Sometimes, there are wi-fi channel conflicts depending on one's home wi-fi configuration. The platform is very stable and the mobile apps. make it very easy to control, customize, and integrate. We really wish Spotify would release it's Radio API for integration into Sonos, but that is a Spotify issue, not Sonos. All other Spotify functions work fine through Sonos.

This is my fourth purchase of Sonos speakers. The third of this kind- Sonos Play 1. I loved these speakers because they are not connected to an Alexa, Siri or other AI. I don't want a microphone on my home, so I opted for these speakers. The sound is delightful. I have a Sonos Play 3 in our living room. I have also set up a pair of Sonos play 1 in the dining room and one in the kitchen. I love that I can walk from room to room listening to the music that is playing. The sounds is great - Probably Bose has a better sounds, but for the price (which was $130.00 - on sale) it is an excellent purchase. Easy to install. I can control it from my phone, iPad, computer, laptop, and my spouse's phone, and of course manually. Too bad I can't yet control if from my watch. It is also compatible with many music apps, very versatile - even spotify. I also love that one can have access to the radio. So I have radio stations from all over the world. I only wish that I could control it right from the iTunes app - just like I can from the Spotify app. I am highly satisfied with these purchases.

I purchased two Sonos Play 1 speakers to use with the Sonos sound bar and subwoofer in our den. We wanted surround sound with the tv. We selected the Play 1 speakers since this room is not large. The system as easy to set up and use, and the sound is great. Didn’t know what we were missing until we installed our Sonos system. Works from my iPhone or remote. Plan to add speakers throughout the house. So it is an easy to use system with great sound that is easily expandable.

    Hands-down best sound, limited flexibility

This was my first dabbling in wireless speakers - I wanted something that sounded good at low volume (because I'm living in an apartment), didn't create a rats-nest of wires, and could be expanded into a more full set of speakers once I move out into a house. Note: I bought one speaker, liked it, then bought a second a day later to try it in stereo pair. You should definitely plan on buying two at some point, if not right away, because having two makes a huge difference in sound quality. I know that's obvious, but I think it's important to stress due to the price tag - these speakers only really shine once they are in a pair (and that's a $400 investment). First let me say, these speakers sound amazing. Crystal clear sound (bass too!), even at very low volume. They can get extremely loud as well, I've never turned them up past half-way because at that point the room is filled and my neighbors are probably putting in earplugs. After comparing these to other wifi speakers, I'm entirely convinced that they are the best sounding. They're also criminally easy to setup, and the packaging is great. Now as to why this is 4 and not 5 stars. The Sonos app (iOS) is actually really neat and connects to Pandora, TuneIn, Spotify and my music on device, which is great. It also has a queue feature which lets other people on my wifi to queue up songs to play next, which has been fun during parties. But not having native Bluetooth/AirPlay support has been more disappointing than I original thought it'd be. So many times I'll be watching a video on YouTube and think "Man, I'd love to hear this through my Sonos speakers right now". The bass is so clear and powerful that I'm also constantly wishing I could hook these up to my Desktop via a line-in to play FPS games too, which sadly I cannot. I've gotten over it now, but there was a lull a couple weeks after I got them where I really wanted to use them for everything, but couldn't. These speakers are meant for listening to music at the home, and they do that job great. You'll love the sound and the features the app brings to parties, but trust me when I say they'll leave you wanting more flexibility as well. Now, one thing worth mentioning is that I was torn between these speakers and the Bose SoundTouch 10 (or whatever the comparable model is). These speakers sounded and looked way better, but the SoundTouch had Airplay, Bluetooth and I think line-in. What pushed me to get these is that I also plan to get a new soundbar for my living room to replace the garbage one I'm using now, and I wanted to use the speakers I purchased as satellite speakers for surround. The Bose SoundTouch 10s don't connect to their sound bar product, but the Play:1s do connect to the PlayBar/PlayBase. I plan on purchasing the SoundBase at the end of the year and hooking that up into my living room at some point. Then I'll have an optical-in and can start using it with my desktop/TV for gaming and YouTube. Oh how that'll be nice :)

These speakers blew me away! Great sound and visually appealing. These are small enough to sit on a counter or your desk. The speakers are so small but has a powerful sound. Looks can be deceiving! I purchased 2 of the speakers. One is in the master bedroom and one is in the living room. I look forward to adding on as I go. The app is amazing and easy to use. It's straight to the point and user friendly.

I have been building my Sonos system for several years now. I started with a Play 5 and then a play 3. I had 3 Play 1's prior to this purchase. I now have speakers in most all living areas. The sound is really good. Even the bass on the Play 1's is good. A few months ago I connected Amazon's Echo system (Alexa) to Sonos and now can control the Sonos system with voice commands and it works very well. If you can wait, these go on sale for $50 off a couple times a year.

Although a little pricy as speakers go, this is a great addition to my new budding sound system. I'm amazed that such a small speaker can put out such a big sound. Being wireless was important to me but the added bonus is that it can be programmed with or separately from the Sonos sound bar. I can take this little gem out on the patio, back in the bedroom or even to the garage with me and control what I want to listen to with my Android phone. My next purchase will be the Play:3 to enhance my livingroom sound experience.

The Play 1s are super portable and easy to interface with an existing Sonos system. You may also use them alone, as long as you have wifi. We have a few Sonos speakers, and these help to blend the house together when we have the whole system playing. We plan on purchasing more eventually. If you have a larger space (kitchen, living room, etc.) you may choose to go with a Play 3 or Play 5. We use a Play 5 in our kitchen and the spectrum of sound is GREAT. All in all, the play 1 is a perfect little speaker.

Warning, this speaker is much like your favorite donuts, you cannot stop with just one! I have been a Squeezebox user for many years and Sonos just seemed too expensive. The introduction of the Play 1 changed that. The special short term deal for a free bridge sent me to take a listen. I was amazed by the sound from such a small speaker. Now I have paired two for stereo and they fill even a large room with great sound. The bass and treble, separately adjustable for each speaker, and balance are adjustable from the app for custom sound. Even the wifi frequency is adjustable although the network does not interfere with any 2.4 Ghz devices. The setup was very easy for pairing and the app allows not only streaming from your favorite stations but allows placing your selections in a queue to stream flawlessly for hours. There are not enough stars available to rate the enjoyment from this wonderful product!

Very easy to set up. Great sound. I love being able to customize the sound using their app. I've paired two Play:1 speakers set up as surround sound speakers for a Sonos PlayBase. With adjustments to enhance the spoken word, we can finally listen to TV without having to turn it up so loud the neighbors can hear it. I also stream Pandora and Amazon Music through the device. Music has never sounded so good. Expensive, but worth the money.

This is my second Sonos speaker. I have a play 3 for my den and these two play 1 speakers are for the downstairs bathroom and the bedroom. Sound on these is impressive and the app works nicely. I just search for what I want and then it will search across all my music subscriptions. I have taken these outside in my backyard and it works fine there too. It really is a great system and I will probably add another two speakers next year.

I bought this sound bar and another speaker other wireless speakers for my bedroom. I wanted a system I can use for my tv (surround sound) build on and is wireless. As of now Sonos is THE ONLY wireless system to use as a theater AND use as a source of music entertainment. I bought denon helos and I bought polka systems and I had to RETURN them both because they can NOT do what the sonos do. This speaker is very impressive considering the size. This is a great speaker to start with.

I have been interested in investing in a smart whole home audio system and was recommended by a friend towards Sonos. I cant tell you how impressed I am with these speakers! I purchased two Sonos Play:1s as I have heard them in stereo pair and they sound great. I have this pair currently on my porch/patio area covered (these are said to be humidity "resistant"). After using the TruePlay tuning (a must in my opinion) it took the sound to a new level! The mid range was toned down just a touch and the high range was enhanced so you can hear every bit of the music as it was intended by the artists Setup of the products was very easy and with just the touch of a button, they were in stereo pair. If you are looking for an easy, smart, whole home audio system I highly recommend starting with these speakers

The SONOS Play:1 is the perfect starting point for your SONOS system, or is a great addition to your existing system. Wireless, portable, easy set-up, great sound from a small package. Finally a product that does exactly what it claims to do! I know we are all looking for a deal in life and the price of the SONOS system may put some people off, but I believe the ease of use and quality experience with the SONOS app and all SONOS products I have tried makes it worth it.
