When I was actually able to get sound to come out of the speaker it sounded great! However the only way I could get it to work was to plug it into my router...which doesn’t make it wireless. The main reason I purchased this speaker was to connect it to Alexa which was another thing we couldn’t get it to do. Besides all that it was a nice looking speaker and solid, just wasn’t what we were hoping for.

I love the sound of these speakers! However, I do not pay for Apple Music, Spotify, or any of the other various streaming services that this speaker is compatible with. The only other way to play music to the speaker is to play only the music that is downloaded to your device. I have a large music library, but it is all stored in my iTunes Music Library. I would have to download all of my songs to my devices (I don't have enough storage space for that) in order to play all of them.

Bought this to use in kitchen and augment my 2 channel system that uses Sonos with a high quality DAC. Though the sound quality from this does not compare with a high end system, it does fill its intended purpose: providing easy access to music without the hassel of turning on the full system. The sound is passable but is too heavy in the bass. Set up is easy. It uses the Ipad to account for room acoustics but this feature is very sensitive and did not seem to,make any difference

we just purchased an older home built in the 1970s which had not been wired for speakers. It is 6000 ft.² and we wanted music everywhere. We have speakers all over the house and it was so easy to install. The sound is fantastic and my little girls can have music in their bedrooms to fall asleep while we are enjoying our own music on the main floor. The only con about this system are the surroundsound two little speakers that are not that great. But everything else is super!

We bought this for our porch. We have friends who have the Big Jambox and Bose Mini and really like them but since we have the full Sonos surround sound and love it we thought we would try this for our small outside area. Unfortunately it does not compare to the Jambox or Bose so we have returned it. For the price, the Jambox and Bose sound much better for outdoor entertaining purposes in a compact device!

Inwas looking for a speaker that would have good backround sound/ambient. I found that at lower levels, the sound was very pale & cery lacking. At sound levels above conversation level, the sound is decent, not bad, but far from great. It does not get very loud. U have to use the sonos app with this speaker, and in order to use spotify u have to pay for the premium service.

Great sound but don't like the app.

I bought two of these speakers and a bridge for my girlfriend. The sound is fantastic. I would recommend the sound to anyone. What I don't like is that all music has to be played through the Sonos app that has to be installed. You cannot play music through iTunes or Media player or other players, only the Sonos app. If it would work seamlessly through all music players I would give it a five star review.

Pumps out some great sound for the backyard patio/ pool parties. But it needs to be plugged in. I'd like to see a battery back up option at minimum. I'd also like to see an option to connect to this speaker via my laptop instead of phone app only. I don't want to have to route everything through the Sonos app either. If these things don't concern you, then it's a good purchase.

When I bought this speaker I was concerned that the price was pretty high but I gave it a chance figuring I was paying for a quality product. After hooking it up in my home the sound was good but didn't blow me away for the price tag. The software is lacking many features I wish it had. Hopefully this can change in updates and perhaps they can lower their price tag or my next purchase will be a bose speaker for that price.

nice Entry Level but Echo close

Its a very nice speaker for entry level. The lack of line in on anything except the Play:5 is a bummer as this cannot be integrated with an Amazon Tap. I also have an Amazon Echo and although the sound quality of the Sonos is nicer, the echo can start songs using voice control as well as the app. If you don't mind having to pull out your phone every time you want to stop/start/etc, this is a good option.

I had super high expectations for this speaker because of all the reviews here. This speaker drops off the network often. The sound is good. It’s good for a single speaker. So, is it a good speaker? Yes. Is it worth the price? That’s questionable. At this price range I’m certain there are better alternatives. Would I buy this again? Not at this price. Sorry.

    Decent Speaker for Alexa

The sound from this speaker is decent, I feel it lacks the full tonal range I would like to hear from a speaker like this. The other thing that is disappointing is if you wish to have a stereo pair, you must use two of the play 1 speakers. The will not play stereo with the Sonos one. I felt there is no need to have two Alexa's in the same room.

I switched from the Play:1 to the One singularly due to the newer models’ compatibility w/ Apple AirPlay. It’s a game changer to be able to go outside the Sonos app to have audio access. This can be done by “grouping” the speakers if even one component is AirPlay compatible, but this is my first one.

Sonos made its fame for its wireless speakers. The design is quite cool and I like the idea to buy two of them to form a two channel system. However, for some reason Sonos can only be connected via ones wifi system, with no bluetooth or airplay alternative, and unfortunately my trial of connection always failed at the last step. I wish it could be more reliable.

This is my 3rd Sonos speaker and I LOVE, LOVE them when they are working; however, the app is constantly getting lost on my phone and I have to re-set up too often. The program/app could also be more user friendly. I would also like to see outdoor speakers and a wireless speaker option. I hope that Sonos makes some changes, but I do like it enough to recommend the system.

Overall a fine speaker and works well with the entire sonos system, but I wish there was a way for an iPhone or an smart phone to connect to it separate from the sonos system (ie independently connect to it via blue tooth or wifi without having to use sonos so you can play your own music from a smart device directly without the sonos app).

Pros: Great sound for their size, wireless, good solid build. Cons: No Aux or BT, unable to connect to other Devices without an additional cost ($300+) not portable, useless without Wi-Fi , can only stream music through their proprietary portal with limited options. There are better options with other speaker brands with more versatility.

Not a "knock my socks off" sound but does the job. I use two of these with bass and a sound bar for home theatre. The additional sound helps with some action films but not quite as dramatic as I hoped. We also use them outside for entertaining and this has been an added an unanticipated plus. The flexibility and decent sound make them a good solution for me.

I got this as a gift for my dad. I gave it a test run before I gave it to him so I could teach him how to use it effectively. After doing it myself, I realized it wouldn't be so easy for him to use. The speaker itself is great but think twice about this model if you're going to get it as a gift.

Sound quality is great but the connectivity is a bit annoying. This isn’t a Bluetooth speaker, it’s connected through WiFi and you have to use the Sonos app to play music. Makes it too complicated for what it is. Great sound, terribly complicated connectivity
