SONOS - Can't go wrong, great speakers!

I ordered this after reading up on it, watching review videos and seeing it in person at a friend's house. I knew I wanted to buy into the Sonos system. I have been wanting a wireless speaker system for a while and Sonos just fits the bill. I have just a single Play 1 with the Sonos Bridge. Both were practically plug and play after a quick download, install of the Sonos desktop software on my Mac (they have it for PC as well). And with a press of a button... wholla!.. I was connected. I was able to add my Pandora account, add other streaming radio accounts as well as add a connection to my iTunes library that I have on a network connected external hard drive. I was listening to my music on a great sounding speaker in literally minutes. It sounded and performed so well that my wife actually wants to purchase at least one more to pair two speakers as stereo left and right speakers... I have an awesome wife... and now I have awesome speakers! I purchased through BestBuy online because I was able to get in on the online special of buying a Sonos speaker and get the Sonos Bridge for free... that was a $50 bonus buy which made this purchase even more attractive. With the bridge, I am not using up my home network bandwidth so I am free to continue to add more speakers in any room and not worry about lag, etc.

I am absolutely obsessed with this purchase. I don't think I have ever bought something for myself that I have enjoyed this much, honestly! We were considering purchasing a turntable with vinyls along with other speakers, but after hearing the quality of the Sonos Play:1 we decided to give this a try instead. I'm so glad we did! You can use any music streaming service such as Apple Music or Spotify seamlessly. Also if you want everyone in the family to have control, you can simply set up different accounts - which also sync to their music library on their phone! Another thing I was iffy about at first was it being a wifi speaker, rather than bluetooth. However, the fact that it is wifi makes all the difference! I personally like that I can play music via my phone and also watch snapchats/videos if I feel like it and the music won't be interrupted on the speaker as it would with a bluetooth speaker. I have zero negative things to say about this speaker. And it honestly only gets better because for only a little bit more, you can have an alexa built into the speaker (probably not the best way of explaining this, but if you ask at Best Buy they can explain it way better). My only advice: buy this speaker asap!!! Perfect for apartments too!

2 play 1's in stereo for Kitchen w/sub

So, decided to give Sonos a try... I give sonos very high marks for ease of set up, it couldn't get any easier unless the boxes unpacked themselves. Appears to be well built too, time will tell... and very stable on the network. 300sqft kitchen w/eating area, L shaped with 2/3 covered in cathedral ceiling. We had to move the units around a couple times to find the best listening spot. Wasn't sure what to go with... 1's 3's or 5's. Settled on two 1's to start. Rather than repeat what others have said, the first thing I noticed was even at the highest volume setting, two play 1's were NOT loud enough for me, left me wanting just a bit more. At much lower volumes, something else was missing too and that's where the subwoofer filled that void very well and also helped with boosting the volume at higher listening levels too, but that was an expensive add on. We got the Sonos sub a couple weeks later. We're happier with they way things sound now- two play 1's and the Sonos sub. If you can afford it, I highly recommend adding the sub to your listening line-up. The only thing I'm little disappointed with is that for a room this size and at this price point, this set-up should be able to really crank when we want to itch that urge... but maybe that's what the play 5's are better suited for?

The Play 1 is my first foray into the Sonos ecosystem. The two things that I think that makes them so good are 1) software design (they require using their free app) and 2) these streaming speakers are tonally excellent. I'm not an audiophile nor an engineer, but to my ears it sounds to me as if the digital signal processor controls the low end as the volume is increased so that the bass doesn't overtake the mid-to-high frequencies. You will experience some distortion as the volume is cranked up to very high levels (or if nothing else, not a balanced tonal sound), which is to be expected with a woofer this small. That said, at reasonable listing levels, the low end presence is right there and relatively tight without being overly emphasized. In my view, its the tonal balance that they strike in such a small package which makes them so enjoyable for hours of listening and design-wise they aren't so bad either. I'm considering adding another one in order to pair them. They are not inexpensive, but keep in mind that your also getting a user friendly app that took many years to develop and improve.

I've heard about Sonos for years, but never EVER wanted to pay that much for speakers. We built a new house and needed speakers for the living room. I wanted to go wireless, but didn't want bluetooth (I have bluetooth speakers for my iPhone and iPad and they are okay, but not the quality I wanted). Heard from a friend about how he got Sonos speakers and a soundbar and loved it! I couldn't afford what he shelled out and I don't want the ones with Alexa as I don't like the idea of devices which are constantly listening to what's going on in my house. I bought the Play1 and, holy cow! The setup was extremely easy and the sound is AMAZING! The depth, clarity, and volume from such a small speaker is unbelievable to me. I have no idea how they get that much bass without a subwoofer. I love being able to play from Pandora and Amazon Music accounts, even my iPhone and have amazing sound in the room (open to the kitchen). I've moved it a couple of times to try new places and new rooms and it sounds great everywhere. I ONLY wish I could afford the soundbar and another Play1 to play the sound from the TV and complete the room. Will have to save up for it for sure, and it may take a year, but it will be worth it!

When I went online to review every possible review of Sonos products, I was still hesitant. I bought the large Sonos Soundbar first - it was amazing. Then I purchased the Play 1 Sonos, and it was like having an entire stereo system that I could move to any room in the house. The sound is crisp and clear and I use my computer, iphone, or ipad to wirelessly play my selections. So... I had to get another Play 1, and between the soundbar and the 2 smaller speakers, I can use them as surround sound for movies. There's an endless number of ways I can use this, it can be taken to the garage, patio, rec room, kitchen, bedroom- the music is transportable. It's also so great for just turning my phone on to Pandora - instantly, the room is filled with rich music sound (it's amazing that so much can come out of such a small box). There's only 2 drawbacks: I would love for Sonos to create one that charges so that I don't have to plug and unplug it when I take it outside. Also, Sonos needs to create a Bluetooth option (the entire system is dependent on WiFi). Overall, it's a great product and the best small speaker I've ever owned.

I love my Sonos system. I just bought a PlayBar and Play base (wanted to decide which one was best for me), a PlaySub, and two Play:1 speakers for surrounds. I don't have a lot of space where it all went, so I love that the pieces don't overpower the room looks-wise. And the sound is surprising very good. I did end up going with the PlayBar instead of the PlayBase. The PlayBase's treble was too much. Tinny isn't quite the right word, but it was a bit piercing. The PlayBar's treble is more natural sounding. I don't have it wall mounted, it just sits on the cabinet below the TV and works just fine that way. The price is worth it, I think. You aren't going to get as good sound as you could get from a true home theater system, but the compromise of not having to have wires running across your room and having a cleaner look is worth it. I also really love the integration with Google Play and Spotify. Apparently it used to have integration with Audible, but it stopped working in 2015. I can find a statement that says Audible and Sonos are committed to getting it working by the end of summer 2018, so hopefully soon it will be back up. All in all, I recommend the pieces, except the PlayBase.

After investing a small fourtune in Bose Soundtouch devices (4) and experiencing a number of connection problems requiring an almost daily reconnecting of my Soundtouch devices, I purchased a Sonos Play:1 to try it out. All I can say is WOW! The Sonos system is by far easier to connect and has stayed connected since I got it up and running. Basically, just turn it on, follow the Sonos App screen prompts and you are connected in a matter of seconds. Additionally, my Play:1 has stayed connected since day one and sounds great. The App offers far more streaming connectivity choices and also includes Bass, Treble and Sleep Timer controls that Bose hasn't yet figured out how to do. This speaker sounded so good that I purchased 2 additional Play:1 Speakers and a Sonos Sub so I can listen to a paired Stereo System with a Sub for total enjoyment. At this point, I have only one regret. I wish I had not wasted my money on my original BOSE purchases. That money would have been much better invested had I purchased Sonos in the beginning. I'd love to talk more about my Sonos speakers and system but I have Bose Soundtouch equipment to sell! Do yourself a favor, try out the Sonos App and system. You'll be glad you did!

I have always been a Bose fan. I've had one of their mini speakers for a few years and it's very impressive. I was finally ready to make the investment and purchase several Bose Soundtouch 10 wireless speakers. This would allow me to have a speaker in each room of my home and play the same music throughout my house (for parties). After purchasing several Soundtouch 10 speakers, I spent hours trying to get the speakers to play the same music (at the same time). I followed the instructions, but I couldn't get it to work. After researching it on the Bose support website, I found out everyone was furious because the speakers didn't work as advertised. Ever since a system upgrade (several months ago) the ability to play the same song on all speakers no longer worked. Bose didn't know why and after months of complaints, they didn't seem any closer to resolving the issue. I returned $700 of Bose speakers. I purchased several Sonos speakers. Plugged them in, followed the setup instructions and within minutes I was up and running and music was playing throughout my home. If Bose can't get their speakers to work correctly, they should stop selling them.

I had always admired the design of the Sonos system with its wifi capability and total control using a smartphone or tablet, but the cost of the Play 3 / Play 5 was more than I wanted to spend for a system that would be primarily used for background music. Once the Play 1 was introduced it was a no brainer to try out. Setup was simple and straightforward and the sound from just one Play 1 is more than good enough (and way better than the iPhone dock speakers it replaced). I liked it so much I purchased a pair of Play 1s as a gift for someone else and helped them set it up. The sound from paired Play 1s configured to play stereo is much better than just one Play 1. If you want to listen to music at more than background levels, definitely recommend you check out the pair configuration. Did run into one problem where Sonos stopped recognizing my iTunes library. The Sonos support pages recommended trying different firewall settings, but none of that worked. Eventually, I uninstalled the app on my PC and re-installed it and the problem magically disappeared. Other than that hiccup, the Sonos has been a delight.

The Play:1 speakers continue to reinforce the notion that a fleet of speakers throughout the house makes a far better setup than two huge speakers only residing in one room creating an unbalanced audio hotspot. Walking through the house and being able to enjoy music or movie audio expanded from their PlayBar is everything I'd hoped it would be before committing to this system. The convenience of the wireless setup & how well everything keeps in sync is simply gravy on top. With the Sonos app within handy reach of a nearby phone, tablet or PC, the speakers can be immediately reconfigured to play whole-house or zoned so that the kids can enjoy a movie in the living room while the speaker in the home office reaches out to Pandora (doesn't require your mobile device to feed the speaker). Sonos fits perfectly with the way I want to use an audio system.

After many years of circling the Sonos ecosystem, I decided to dive in. I have a bunch of Amazon Alexa devices around the house, but find them lacking when it comes to sound quality and multi-room music. (Particularly how you can't use them on bluetooth connections and multi-room at the same time.) These speakers offered a great fix for me. Affordable, good sound quality, easy setup and voice-control integrations. I set two up as a stereo pair and added one in an adjacent room and enjoy space-filling, quality sound. Last note - now that Amazon no longer allows upload and storage of music files that are not currently in their library (like personal recordings, old out of print album conversions, etc.) the Sonos ecosystem gives me a new way to conveniently play all of my stored music files anywhere in the house, even if those files don't exist on major streaming services.

This is my fourth purchase of Sonos speakers. The third of this kind- Sonos Play 1. I loved these speakers because they are not connected to an Alexa, Siri or other AI. I don't want a microphone on my home, so I opted for these speakers. The sound is delightful. I have a Sonos Play 3 in our living room. I have also set up a pair of Sonos play 1 in the dining room and one in the kitchen. I love that I can walk from room to room listening to the music that is playing. The sounds is great - Probably Bose has a better sounds, but for the price (which was $130.00 - on sale) it is an excellent purchase. Easy to install. I can control it from my phone, iPad, computer, laptop, and my spouse's phone, and of course manually. Too bad I can't yet control if from my watch. It is also compatible with many music apps, very versatile - even spotify. I also love that one can have access to the radio. So I have radio stations from all over the world. I only wish that I could control it right from the iTunes app - just like I can from the Spotify app. I am highly satisfied with these purchases.

It's not often I'm compelled to write reviews on line, but in this case I felt like I need to let you know about my Sonos experience. I purchased a Play:1 and bridge together as a package. I've been interested in the system for a while, but the cost and uncertainty of the sound quality have been holding me back (I really like quality stereo gear). I finally decided to dip my toe in with the cheapest option I could. Within 15 minutes of unpacking I had it working. I am amazed at the sound quality - The sound from the Play:1 is much better than I anticipated. Right now I only have the radio set up, but it's awesome. The interface on my Iphone is very intuitive and easy. It's not going to replace my Hi-Fi system, but for casual listening - it's really nice. I highly recommend it. I'm going to save up and get another Play:1 for a stereo pair, and maybe a lot more!

I am a Sonos customer and I already own the Playbar and Sub. These little guys have become my surround speakers, and sometimes I group them as their own little player group, which is a function of the Sonos App on my iPad/iPhone/Mac. Here is what I think: The Good: >The sound from just the two (paired as a stereo pair using the Sonos app, is remarkable. >Great lows. >EASY to use with the Sonos App. >Easy to group with my existing Sonos components. >No moving thanks to the weight and the rubber bottom. >Option to turn off the LED for a more energy efficient experience. >Even when used without the Playbar but with the Sub, these guys make a significantly nice sound. Could be better: >Sonos devices do lose their grouping sometimes and you have to reprogram the whole system, which takes about 15-20 minutes. >No direct input for playing from another system, which means you have to play via their app, and sometimes their app and iTunes don't cooperate. I would absolutely buy these speakers again, and I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone shopping for consumer sound gear.

If you are already a Sonos user you might be debating on if a Sonos Play 1 is something worth adding to your current setup. I did a lot of listening and debating if I should just go with another Play 5 or settle for the Play 1. That's kind of the mindset I had, should I settle? Nothing beats the Play 5 in sound quality but of course that's why the price tag is higher. This was going to be for the bedroom and I ended up going with the Play 1 after all. I must say it works well. It's hard to really tell in the store "is this going to sound good where I want to put it." Especially when you are able to demo the Play 3 and 5 right next to it. It sounds great in my current setup and when moving from room to room my ear doesn't notice any difference so-to-speak in sound quality. So its small, doesn't take up too much space... and it does have good sound quality for how small. Definitely worth adding to a current Sonos setup, Plus you could always get another one and move it to a room with a soundbar to create surround sound. If you are new to Sonos I'd recommend starting with a Play 5, that's where I started.

I first heard about SONOS from the hubby and thought "oh, great, just what we need...ANOTHER speaker in the house." But it took just one day of using it and I was hooked! I love that I can control it from my smartphone. I can listen to live radio stations from around the world, link it to my Apple Music or Pandora accounts to play music from there, or simply listen to the music already saved on my phone. And the best part? There was no crazy set up! You just plug it in, download the app, and follow the on-screen instructions. I think it took about a minute to start listening to music. I agree with many here that the price sounds a bit high for a speaker, but honestly, the quality of sound is amazing! And if you own more than one (like we now do) it ensures that your music travels with you wherever you go in your house, without missing a beat or losing any audio quality. We have truly enjoyed our SONOS experience and recommend it to everyone, so give it a try! Just be warned, you will want a second unit shortly thereafter..... :)

I've had friends tell me for a while how good Sonos is. So I purchased one for myself and I am impressed! The sound quality is great for such a small speaker. Also, I'm a tech guy and love that the initial setup thru it's app is so simple. The app is updated constantly and is very user friendly. I have one in the bedroom and I look to expand them in my living room this Christmas. The sound quality, bass, hi's, and miss are good. I look to get 2 more Play 1's, a Play 3, and a Playbar so I can have the TV sound coming thru. You must get a Playbar in order to have your TV sound to work. Overall, these are some really good products. I was looking between Vizio's Soundbar, Polk's wireless setup, and a few others. At the end, the wireless solution that got my attention was the Sonos setup. You can always add onto the system and you can even use your existing speakers with it, but you will need to buy the Connect Amp. They can be a little pricy, but the quality is there. Also, Bestbuy has them on sale during November/December season from what I've seen. That's when I initially bought mine. I hope this helps.

What an unexpected sound treat! Yes, I too read the reviews and wondered if they could all be true. This little nugget packs a powerful punch! It was easy to set up after downloading the appropriate software to both my phone and computer. The instructions were easy to follow and logical. I was up and running within 5 minutes!! The sound quality for the Sonos PLAY:1 is excellent! I've listened to country, classical, contemporary, religious and pop music ~ all of them sound great. I'm pleased with the size and style of the speaker as well. It boasts clean, sleek, simple lines and a nice compact size. It's unobtrusive and that's a bonus when you have little hands around who like to touch everything. So what's the con? You will want another one! Yep, it's true. I'm already scheming how I can justify another purchase. The price is expensive but the ability to link multiple devices wirelessly in different rooms is extremely appealing. Thank goodness I can rack up my credit card points to help out with my next Sonos purchase.

Definitely glad i chose the Sonos Play 1 over the Bose bluetooth speaker i was originally planning to get. The Sonos speaker was easy to set up and the app is easy to use and has a nice look to it. I love that because it is wifi i don't have to worry about my music being interrupted, and if i want to play something on my phone i can do so without pausing anything. I am nowhere close to a professional in terms of judging sound quality, but in my opinion it is amazing. I tend to judge a speaker solely on how loud it can go while keeping the fullness of the sound and if it can handle bass (especially at louder volumes). The speaker can definitely fill multiple rooms without distorting the sound, so for right now i will be using one for downstairs. I plan on buying another to go upstairs, so i will probably get the Hay Sonos (in hunter green) next, since there is a wider color range.
