Customers are impressed with the Play:5 Wireless Speaker's superb sound quality, ease of use, and strong bass. Many also appreciate its straightforward setup and attractive design, although some find the price to be high. A few users noted the speaker's weight and some compatibility issues with certain devices. Overall, the positive feedback on audio performance outweighs the negative comments regarding cost and compatibility.

Great speaker, with crisp clear sound. Only con was trying to connect it. I also wish it was easier to reconnect at another house.

This piece was the perfect addition to our existing system. Just in time for a party we were able to fill the house with music from room to room.

Wow, if you want good sound, use the play 5's. I have 15 of the Sonos speakers and the 5's ROCK THE HOUSE. Yes, the 5's are a bit of money but if you are looking for the best you have found them. After you listen to them next to 1's or the 3's, you cant go down.

For a couple weeks I was trying to decide between this and the Bose soundtouch 30 and when I finally went into the store and played the same song on each of the speakers, the sonos was just so clear it made my decision for me. The Bose was nice but trust me, you'll hear the difference. Thinking of buying another. The bass also, amazing.

The Play:5 speaker has outstanding sound; rich with strong bass and good highs. I miss the fact that Sonos removed the indentation in the back for picking it up and moving it (thus making this reasonably heavy speaker less portable than the last version), but the trade-off is an improvement in sound. And isn’t that what matters in a speaker?

The Sonos soundbar system was purchased as a replacement for my high end stereo equipment. I wanted surround sound 5.1 capability, and these speakers are an awesome solution for that. I now experience surround sound that far exceeds the quality of my previous system. Setup was a breeze ast it is an automated process. I highly recommend this wireless speaker.

Not only do these speakers sound good they are very flexible as to where you can set them up. I bought two of these, one in two different rooms.

This are by far the best speakers I’ve owned. The fact that music over WiFi can sound this good. No distortion, I’m afraid to turn them all the way up, cause I’m not sure what would happen. The Sonos app used to control these speakers is continuously getting better. Worth the money, but if you find a sale, don’t miss it.

First I was to buy the Bose system but the best buy conselor proposed me to listen to this sonos and guess what.. I was ashtonished by the quality of the sound. Moreover, I prefer the Sonos design than the Bose design..
I really tell you : buy SONOS : a californian brand !

I absolutely LOVE this speaker it sounds great. I currently have several play ones and threes and wanted to add the five to my house. Best decision yet the crispness of the sound is great the app is so easy to use and to setup. I was a BOSE customer and still stand by them but there version of this speaker does not compare to SONOS

This is a major improvement over the V1 Play 5. I had the V1 for 3+ years and the new model is worth the $$. It has bass that makes you think you have a sub connected to it. It does a great job of separating the different notes of a song and provides a excellent listening experience. If you are an audiophile then you will love this speaker!!!

Begin your Sonos experience with the Play 5--this is where you will get the big sound which can then be complemented by adding smaller speakers. This is great system--I've paired it with an iTunes subscription that now makes all my music easily available to me with my iPhone. They are right--Sonos really does put music back into your life.

I had been eyeing out Sonos for a long time. I've been a Napster/Rhapsody user forever (since they both offered free university student subscriptions back in early 2000s). Also listen to slacker, spotify, cloud, mp3s on my iPod, mp3s on my phone, and CDs. Amazing how easy this thing makes it to consume music from so many sources and services. The ability to make playlists out of multiple sources is worth a few hundred bucks by itself.
As for the actual speaker. I went into the store conservatively hoping for a Play3, tried them out and then just said.. what the heck, the 5 sounded so good, so I pulled the trigger and have not regretted it.
I eventually got a play1 for the kitchen, and I'm pleased with the fact that I can connect a non-streaming source (like a CD player) to the play5 and then play it through the play1.
A couple weekends ago we were sitting outside in the yard. I opened a few windows and cranked up the volume on the grouped play5 and play1. We were impressed at how well it carried to the yard.
It's the type of product that seems to gain value the more you use it.
So yeah... totally worth it, even if it's the only Sonos speaker you intend to buy.

The sound is outstanding and the bass is so much better on the new play5. The only drawback I have is that the new play5 is a little fatter than the old play5. So I wasn't able to put this one in the same exact spot where I had my old version

We got the Sonos for our living room to listen to music and to watch TV. We decided on getting this instead of the PlayBar because we wanted the better bass that we read in other reviews and liked the look of it better (rather than the PlayBar sitting in front of the TV base since we are not mounting it.) This did present some challenges in setting it up with the TV and we needed to buy an adapter since the only input on the Play:5 is a headphone jack...wish they also offered a digital optical input. We got the adapter from from Monoprice and it is working great! Love the sound for music and television. Added bonus is that it looks great. I would recommend it!
