Purchased the Sonus playbar to integrate with our flat screen TV in our (large) living room. The TV is above the fireplace and sits in a recessed cut out, so an external speaker is critical for TV/movie sound. Also, we have an open room concept and the idea of having the bluetooth feature available to integrate with our MP3 for music is awesome. I researched a lot of systems and landed on Sonus for a couple reasons. One, the solution suite provides a multitude of other sound solutions which we can build upon as we go. I tested the sound in Best Buy and thought it was quality (many reviews said "sound purists wont like sonus"... but it was fine with me as I am by no means a "sound purist"). It looks very sharp, professional and even passed the "look and feel" test from my wife, who is very picky with electronics and how they integrate into our home (aka, why I don't have a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system in our main living area). Yes, this is a bit expensive... but for us, it was and is the perfect solution. If you are cool with the price, I would suggest it.

Was torn between this and Bose. I thought the Bose sounded cleaner. Took the Bose home and returned it.... stopped working after 3 days. Glad I got this instead. Let me tell you... this thing cranks! It fills the entire room with sound! This is a 25x20 rm. No matter where you are in the room the sound quality is the same. I live in a townhouse and have to be mindful of my neighbor. Got it with the sub and OMG!!... it makes watching even commercials exciting! I watched Star Wars and the sub makes my entire sectional shake. Absolutely love it. Later on I will get a pair of P1s for the rear. If you're an audiophile you might not appreciate the fact that it doesn't support DTS encoding and that it's simulated surround sound. If these are important to you then go wired with a good 5.1 system. I see some people complain about it dropping off wireless etc.... it's their wireless network. Probably using the same congested channels like ever other neighbor (1,6 or 11). Trying changing to a non-overlapping channel and you'd be fine.

Great sound...rich, deep and clear, especially for a sound bar! Very loud as well. With the SONOS Subwoofer and Boost, this system rocks my house and is perfect for entertaining. I have the playbar wired to my 60" TV using an optical cable for sound. As advertised, the system can be controlled using a smartphone or tablet device as well with the SONOS app. Once plugged into your home network #hard wired thru Ethernet - Ethernet cable must be plugged directly into the playbar or you must plug the Ethernet cable directly into the SONOS Boost, an add'l component# and the "Desktop SONOS software installed on your home computer, the SONOS system will be able to recognize your media library #iTunes, etc.# and stream music easily across any of the speakers. There are also add'l add on apps within the SONOS software such as streaming music from your Pandora or SiriusXM accounts. A must have for any music lover! Setup was easy using the SONOS app. It walks you thru step by step on installing a particular speaker type or component.

I purchased this "Playbar"as a part of the Sonos Surround Sound System and it does not disappoint!! There is a HUGE difference in sound between the smaller Playbar ($400) and the larger Playbar ($700) and if you can afford to purchase the larger one, it would be well worth the investment. I would even go so far as to recommend purchasing the larger Playbar and save up for the rear speakers or the subwoofer, it's that good. The sound is very clear/loud and compliments well with the entire (simple) 4 piece system (Lg. Play bar+Subwoofer+2 rear, 360 degree speakers) This system along with the 75" TCL TV is really an incredible/top of the line experience to have in our home. WELL worth the total package of ~$3800 for all (75" TV+Sonos Surround Sound System) Highly recommend.

As a sound bar, I find it just okay. Granted, we don't have the sub-woofer yet...we have to save up a little more for that. But the sound from the sound bar alone isn't what I expected...it's nothing spectacular. And adjusting the sound on it using our remote is a little tricky. The sound level shown on the TV never matches the level we're actually hearing. Sometimes a 6 or 7 is just fine, but sometimes we have to turn it up to 42 to be heard decently. Then if you turn the level down to zero, there's still sound coming out, so you have to go below zero to actually turn the sound off. I've read about this from others, so I thought was ready for it, but it's still an adjustment. I was used to knowing how loud the sound would actually be at a 10 or 11, but now it's a gamble. When used just for music as part of our total Sonos system, though, it's spectacular! I love the total immersion of the entire Sonos system. Would I recommend it? Right now, no....until I hear it with the sub-woofer. If I had to do it over again, I'd just get another Sonos speaker.

I have only had the system for about a week but wanted to write the review while I still feel like a kid on Christmas day. I started with the Sonos soundbar by itself. I was immediately impressed with the sound. It was easy to setup and the iphone app for installation was kind of neat. I have it paired with a Sony 850D and can use the TV or cable remote to control the volume. It sounded great and I thought the sound had good depth. I had wanted the sub too and decided to buy it about a week after hooking up the soundbar. Just got it added to the system. Very easy to add. Wow, wow, wow! It rocks. The soundbar sounded great by itself, but with the sub it was very noticeably improved. In all honesty, I haven't got to use it with too many sound sources yet; however the ones that I have used are impressive. I have no regrets with this purchase. Can't wait to keep trying movies and music.I have had a couple of occasions where I have had to turn the volume down because the sound has been overwhelming - in a good kind of way.

This is an amazing product. I connected the playbar into a pre-wired LAN jack in my family room (routed through a ethernet switch to the LAN jack) to my cable modem (located in a separate room). Downloaded the Sonos app to my Android phone and connected two Sonos One speakers. No bridge required. In approximately five minutes I was listening to superb surround sound audio from my TV. The setup wizard makes setup / configuration so easy. I then configured my system to link to my family's iTunes library on our Windows 7 OS desktop. Again took about ten minutes (time depends on the size of your digital libray). I did call Sonos support to understand the options available to me to setup my iTunes library and they were extremely helpful. A few weeks later I added the sub-woofer. Again, really straight forward. I added a 5 as well in another room and love the ability to group or un-group rooms to play the same or different songs, respectively. I like the fact that upgrades to the system are done through software. I did find that the cords provided are short in length. But overall highly recommend.

If you are looking for a great sounding sound bar then this is it. As with every Sonos Item I've ever touched everything from the packaging and instructions are top notch. The installation was very easy and worked first try. The only issue I have is the Optical Cable they include does not seat properly in my TV for some reason. For some reason I can't seem to get Dolby out of my TV which makes a HUGE difference. If you don't give it a Dolby Signal it will simulate it and does a pretty good job but nothing is better than the real thing. I ended up connecting it directly to my Cable Box. Bottom line, I love this Soundbar, as with all Sonos items it is a little on the pricey side but it is also very good quality. Make sure you TV or whatever device you are connecting to puts out Dolby before investing. This isn't just a Sono's thing this would stand true for any Soundbar.

The sound bar perfect. I've mounted it on the TV swing bar so that it can project in all directions the TV is pointed. I had it for about a week before I bought the sub. It does have sweet bass and the voices are very clear, clearer than the other sound bars in its class - had to return a couple because the voices sounded muffled (Sony and Heos). With the sub, the movies and music just sounded better. If you put the sub in a neutral location like between the TV room and the Kitchen - then purchase a Sonos 1 and place it away from the TV, the sound appears to come from thin air. It balances itself really well. I'm a music lover and play music all day and night so it's important I don't actually feel the sound being forced through the speaker to you, it is more enjoyable to hide speakers and balance them so the sound just seem to be there. In thin air. Great product!

Well the sound is great setup was easy. But make sure your tv is not on the incompatible list. Go on the sonos website. Mine was even though it is only a couple years old but an adapter not sold by best buy was all that was needed. It caused a few more issues due to the adapter but not so bad that I would return it. You still are limited to putting the speakers near plugs so you can't just take a speaker outside and run it off battery. If you setup your speakers as surround sound and decide you want to just play from 1 if those speakers you have to jump through some annoying hoops each time you want to do that but not impossible. With the price of the speakers it is something to keep in mind and the commercials can be a little misleading on this. Sonos support is top notch and very knowledgeable. A real pleasure when you will likely call to ask them questions. But overall it is a great sound and at least you don't have to run speaker wire all over the place.

Even sound -- without sub woofer

Sonos sound bar (without woofer) was chosen because of the even sound heard in the store demo material. (In the store, Playbase seemed to be overly bassy, and the competing Boze seemed uneven.) At home, the sound bar occasionally sounds too bassy, and perhaps missing some mid-lows around 120. The bassiness may be from the TV program material itself, which often has the very deep bass added (synthesized and unnatural sub-bass well below 60 hz); so it's hard to tell if the gap comes from the speaker or the program material. In reproducing pure music, I'm delighted that detail in vocals and solo instruments is dazzliing. All kinds of popular music (jazz, broadway, rock, EDM, teen, etc.) sounds amazing. The only drawback is that dense symphonic music sounds a little heavy in the midrange -- a little like you'd expect a pair of cheap bookshelf speakers to sound -- but just a little like that. I'm perfectly happy listening to most orchestral music through it.

after three sound bars purchased I will be no longer making runs to Best Buy after the purchase of the SONOS PLAYBAR. initially I did not want to spend the $700 to get the soundbar plus the $50 for the bridge (to be able to play music and control from phone) and $40 for wall mount. but after spending $300 for a sony soundbar and subwoofer, which had terrible quality as a soundbar and too much bass with the subwoofer we returned it for a $600 Klipsch soundbar and subwoofer. was not disappointed in the quality of the combined subwoofer and soundbar sound, but had 0 amenities; could not even connect my phone to it or adjust any settings. then I finally went with the SONOS thinking "this better be a dang good soundbar" and I COULD NOT be any happier. this soundbar is amazing and does not require a subwoofer to produce sound better than any soundbar/subwoofer ccombo that I have purchased. the $700 spent on this SONOS PLAYBAR is definitely worth it and i cannot wait to enjoy this soundbar in our new home!

I Purchased the Sonos soundbar along with the subwoofer and setup was ridiculously easy!!! App is ok but I barely use due to the App helping me link my sonos soundbar to my harmony remote in two seconds, I didn’t even have to connect my harmony remote to my PC to configure. App walks you through the whole 10 minute process. It took longer to place the items where you want them and to connect soundbar to tv LoL. Calibrating the Sonos to your specific room that you’re in was a snap as well. Awesome sound/bass. coming from returning a samsung soundbar with matching samsung rear speakers that kept giving me lip sync issues & kept cutting out on me on a regular basis, which I am glad I did return because this thing is a Beast! going to upgrade and get me two play ones for that extra surround feel though I really don’t need to I just want to haha. Money well spent.

Replaced an amazing Martin Logan Motion Vision sound bar with the Sonos Playbar and Sub. Re-configured my ConnectAmp as surround speakers in order to utilize the full 5.1 experience. When compared to the single ML bar plus Polk sub, the Sonos 5.1 offers a true surround / 3-dimensional experience that rivals a legacy 5.1 system with six separate speakers. The Sonos Sub delivers tight lows while producing the appropriate amount of rumble when watching action movies with explosions, etc. Please note that you will need to configure your Blu Ray player to output Dolby 5.1 rather than DTS since the PlayBar cannot decode the DTS signal (yet). If you are one of the lucky ones with a LCD / LED that passes through 5.1 via optical port, you should be good to go; otherwise, a switch is necessary to experience true 5.1. My family loves the new setup.

while $700 is a lot of money I can say it worth it. I have never been a sound bar guy, generally i only use TV speakers for our great room with the 65" plasma on the wall. the wife wasn't having speakers all over the place and I didn't want the headache of trying to teach the wife & kids how to use a audio system, so that system is dedicated theater room. But for Super Bowl i wanted some extra sound so i bought a sonos bar & sub to test it out.....wow. not only was i amazed how the sub filled at wide open 2 story great room with no walls leading into a large kitchen but i got an extra bonus. Our plasma is mounted on a common wall to our master bedroom my issues was always having sound loud enough to hear but not to loud keeping wife awake as the sound bounced off the wall from the back of the plasma, sound bar resolved this issue. I have a $3k Martin Login sub in theater and seriously thinking of selling it and getting more sonos gear. I am truly amazed this entire product line.

Hello first off I think this sound bar is AWESOME! I wanted something slim and out of the way to give a cleaner look to our living room, as well as ENHANCE the flat panel garbage speakers they come with. I wasn't going to expect a full on home theater system from a sound bar, with that said I wasn't expecting much, but boy was I in for a surprise. The Sonos sound bar is everything and much more. I'm no audiophile but I must say that this system ROCKS!! I love the capability to add to it if I do decide to add more speakers to the system. If the price is a little steep I understand but you truly get what you pay for. Setup was very simple even for those who aren't very good around a computer, it took me less than 10 min. I was up and watching sports in know time. I since have added the bridge and love to stream my music from my I Phone, I Pad, And I tunes library. Kudos to Sonos I plan on buying the sub and two play 3's to complete a slim, clean, wireless Home theater system to enjoy.

Incredible crystal-clear sound. I have the sound bar laying horizontally in front of my TV. Without even mounting it on the wall it fills the room with incredible fidelity. The wireless bridge allows the data streaming to run separately on your home network so no additional bandwidth is used on your home network when the soundbar is streaming music. There is absolutely no latency when using the app to adjust volume and there are numerous free music channels to listen to on the app. I feel that the price was a little high. At a price of $699, I decided to just purchase the sound bar for now. I am still saving for the sub woofer and hope to add it to the system within a few months. The system was also very easy to set up and was operational within minutes from opening the box. I felt that the Sonos system was the most versatile because you can continually add pieces as you need them without the need to run any wires.

This Sonos Playbar is awesome. Although the store demo was lacking, through research and help from the store associates, I was able to make the right choice. I have to commend BB on having quality staff working in the Kildeer, IL location. I wish I could remember the two gentlemen that helped me, but they were very knowledgeable and answered all my questions without hesitation. Note: I did not buy the sub at the same time. At the time of this writing, I only have this Playbar. Although I do plan on purchasing within the next couple of weeks, the sound is amazing. I replaced an lower-end 2.1 system I had with this, and even without the sub, it's one heck of an upgrade. If you're on the fence or dont want to make the initial investment, this alone will most likely be an upgrade. With that said, I'm looking forward to getting the sub soon to truly upgrade the experience. Highly recommend.

As usual the set up was glitchy it took me longer than it should have but once it started working it was just what I was looking for. I also added two Smart speakers for the surround. the surround feature does exactly what it is supposed to. I did not add the subwoofer. We have a small living room and the subwoofer is huge. The bottom end is great especially with music. I'm sure I am missing the window rattling from explosions but at least I didn't need to eliminate a piece of furniture to fit it into the room. The phone app is convenient, adding custom control and another volume control in case your spouse has the tv remote. I am very pleased with this purchase.

I have been searching for the past few months on a strong all around sound system and did look at Sonos at first but shied away initially due to price. However, they had a special recently where you could save 100 off the subwoofer and 50 off of play: 1. I made the plunge and suffice it to say I am very happy. Setup was a breeze and the sound quality is excellent. Many have already noted the strengths in their reviews so I won't belabor the point, but I will add that you should strongly consider this purchase if you're on the market for a sound system. They absolutely feel premium and something that will last a long time. I also appreciate the Sonos app where services such as Apple Music can be linked to with ease. Additionally it can control the volume of your TV acting in the style of a remote. The Best Buy rep that assisted me was also very knowledgeable and went through pros and cons amongst differing sound systems.
