I looked over other systems but realized the "cabling" nightmare and having a "rats nest of cales" was not going to please the wife. So I went with the Play bar and 2 Play-3's and the setup was relatively easy. I had heard about the issue of just the optical output and most TV's sending 2.1 out of the port feeding the Playbar. In my case I tested two scenarios. I have a DirecTV Genie system (one main controller in the living and 2 satellite slaves) to setup as surround sound. The TV set is a Sharp Aquos LC-60LE857U purchased about June 2013. I configured the DirecTV main controller to send out BitStream 5.1 from the Optical output and fed the Sound Bar directly and the SONOS "About My System" screen tells me Audio In: Dolby Digital 5.1, as would be expected. The DirecTV HDMI cable feeds the TV set HDMI-1 input. I then had to configure the TV's setting to turn off the internal speakers and also expect 5.1 with BITSTREAM (not PCM). Subsequently, I put the optical cable on the TV's (Digital Audio Out/Optical port) and fed the SONOS Playbar and the "About My System" still recognizes that my TV is sending Dolby Digital 5.1 as the Audio In. I haven't done any testing with the DirecTV Slave receiver as it only has an RCA Digital Audio out... But maybe the HDMI cable from the slave to the TV (that I will eventually buy) feeds the TV with appropriate signals and on the TV, it spits out the 5.1 on the optical port to feed the play bar. I will deal with that testing/issue when I get a TV worthy of a Playbar for the unused media room as I hope the HDMI will feed a 5.1 (as the main receiver does) into the TV... If not, there will be a plan B.. The other great thing (to me) is that I have kids and we always lose remotes around the house... Well, we have 5 DirecTV remotes for the 2 TV's in the house + the Sharp TV remote. I programmed the remote to pair with the Play Bar using the DIrecTV remote.. It basically asks you to point it at the play bar (finding where to do this setup on the App-using my iPhone was a pain to locate)... In my case, I placed the sound bar in my Living Room and I had to go under Settings-->Room-->Living room (+Ls+RS) for my surround Setup.. then there I found TV Setup and Control... There, I was able to setup the DirecTV remote (the Sonos app asks you to pair simply by pressing the "+" Volume button on the DirecTV remote and the Sonos then recognized it. Now I am able to use ANY directive remote as well as the Sharp Aquos remote so that is a plus... The internet streaming is fantastic! Lots of built in options and no need to navigate different apps once you setup your favorites within Sonos.. Setup with Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio etc was super easy... And you can also stream public service (Police, Fire, Emergency Dispatch and Ham Radio Repeaters- Storm Chasers!) depending on what city you type for your Zip Code etc.. So when you enter your Zip Code, it pulls in EVERYTHING it can regarding any type of radio station, public service etc.. I reconfigured the "zip code" for another City/State and it does it without issues! I downloaded the program from the SONOS main site on my iMac where my iTunes music folders are and it pulled all my music folders.. You do need to set up Sharing/Permissions---real easy as the program steps you through the menu settings to get it going and then starts indexing (takes time to pull in your library into the Sonos menu options depending on how big your music files are, I had 6000 songs imported and it took some time so don't interrupt the process..) I was also able to pull songs purchased on my iphone and stream it to the Sonos player so that was nice (prior to setting up my iMAC).. I did all the initial install with my iPhone and watched Transformers 3 and White House Down in surround sound.. I am sure the Subwoofer would have added much thump but the Play Bar and the Play 3's work fine for me.. The hardest part for me was having to find where to re-configure the TV remote control within the App on my iphone as things got a bit messy during the initial setup screen on my iPhone and it going to a "locked screen" while doing it! All in all, I am VERY happy with the quality and ease of use.. I actually want to go out and buy a Play 1 to have in my home office just to stream "stuff" (in my case Public Service Agencies)---Note, some stations are not working so it all depends on how updated the Databases are or if the station you wish to hear (listed within the SONOS guide) is actually sending out audio or not or if they discontinued streaming to a service/app..

After reading hundreds of reviews on the internet about the sonos line of products, I decided to dive in head first. I bought several speakers including this one (to the tune of nearly $3,000) and have not been disappointed. Are they expensive? Absolutely. Is the sound quality on par with buying an actual receiver and real speakers? Absolutely not. As long as you are aware of this going in, I think you can be satisfied with joining the masses of sonos customers. Don't get me wrong, the sound is great. But it wasn't as good as I expected for the money. I think the sound quality is fine if you're buying individual speakers to put music in several rooms of your house. However, if you're buying these speakers to replace a true surround sound system, you'll be disappointed. What they lack in hifi sound quality though, they more than make up for in ease of access. I have instant access to more music than I could ever want at the swipe of a finger using only my iphone. This is where the high price gets its justification. Even my technophobe wife loves doing it. There is nothing like coming home and cracking open a beer on the front porch while listening to pandora. And I can do this without 5 remotes, turning on multiple amplifiers, etc. It's all right there from my iphone. I never have to get up to change a channel, or even point a remote, I can listen to radio stations in california or I can listen to my own music stored on my desktop. It;s brilliant, I'll never have studio quality sound blaring from my speakers. My simulated 5.1 surround sound will always leave a little to be desired. But we listen to more music now - and a greater variety of music now - than we ever have.To me, that has made this purchase more than worth it. In fact, I would agree with many customers that sonos is a life changing purchase. One of the better ones I've ever made, despite the high pricetag. If you're an average joe like me that enjoys tech gadgets and loves listening to music in every room of your house, you won't be disappointed. If you're an audiophile nerd who must have the clearest sound money can buy, then look elsewhere. This prodcut is not for you. For the record, I didn't listen to many other soundbars. I bought this because it interfaced with my sonos system. It sounds fine, but it's probably a little overpriced if you were evaluating it on sound quality alone.

Great sound bar with a few flaws

The playbar checks off a lot of boxes while falling short on a few others. I'll run through a few pros and cons of the speaker: Pros- Great sound. Blows away a $250 Samsung sound bar I also own. Ease of use. Only one connection on the back to hook up (optical cable) means this thing will be up and running in no time. No remote. I thought I wouldn't like this but I really enjoy not having yet another remote in the living room and controlling from your phone is very easy. It also has really neat Night mode (reduced loud sounds) and enhanced speech modes in the app. Music. This thing sounds even better blasting out music. It has good bass for a sound bar but it doesn't really stand out until you turn it up. Cons: Expensive (subjective but $700 for a sound bar is too high in my opinion) No sub included. You want room shaking bass? That's another $700 on top of the $700 play bar. Most people will be happy with the bass the playbar puts out on its own but you won't get that theater sound without it. It may be worth it. The sub seems to be the highest rated Sonos product on this site. Only Dolby Digital support - No Atmos, DD+, nothing. No transcoding on the device. The optical cable could technically support these but since the playbar does not it won't put these sounds out. You could attach a blu-ray player or device that will transcode these but you're still only going to get Dolby Digital. This could be a deal breaker for some. This is a mixed bag of pros and cons. I purchased this knowing the limitations and I'm still very happy with it. Even with all the things I can list that bother me about it I still find myself thinking about how awesome it is. I have two Sonos play ones set up as surround sound and it really packs a punch. On signals that are not DD, they will provide a simulated surround sound and it's actually pretty solid. What really gets me is the ease of swapping from watching TV to pumping out music (where the system really shines) and it's very easy from the Sonos app. Be warned about the items I mention above. There also seems to be a slight learning curve. I was set on returning all of this and going with a traditional wired set up but I'm so glad I didn't.

3.0 Surround in a sound bar

Let me first start off with the price. The price is $700 and it is high, but once you look at everything else out there, there is no one in the market doing what Sonos is doing. Also, Sonos Playbar gives you Sonos technology built in with the option to expand into a 3.1 or a 5.1. OK, now I looked at almost every sound bar out on the market and I actually purchased the Klipsch - Icon SB 1 and the problem was it only had a left and right channel, so the dialogue was not as clear as I wanted it to be. Also, the space the surround mode created was weak. I returned the Klipsch, sat in Best Buy and had them unplug the Sonos Sub and I just listened to the Sonos Playbar. I was impressed with the sound it created and loved the bass it had on it's own. I took the Playbar home, hooked it up in the bedroom and put on HBO. Armageddon was on and I thought it was a good movie to test out what the Playbar could do. Dialogue was clear, bass was impressive without a sub (This is for a bedroom) and the surround it created with the left and right channels was amazing. I was happy within the first 2 minutes. The way the left and right tweeters are placed on the Playbar is all the way on the edges pointed outwards so that it creates the most space possible. I thought someone was in my hallway when I was watching. I was very impressed and I have since added 2 Play:1's for the left and right rear channels. I am still working on getting the sub, but I may not need it for my bedroom as the Playbar does a great job. Other highlights: -You can use your existing TV remote, or Cable provider's remote -Easy to setup -Great app for iOS or Android -Sonos technology for playing music and pairing with other Sonos devices -Customize sound with the App -Night mode, great for watching late at night when you don't want to wake anyone up in the other rooms in the house Also, before you buy any speaker, listen to it. Everyone likes different types of music and different movies and want a certain experience. I have a 9.2 setup in my living room, but I wanted something for the bedroom without wires and this was the absolute best option available.

To start with, I purchased a Samsung 4K TV. The picture was fantastic, but the built in speakers were - well - just ok. I started with a Play Bar, a Sub, and a Bridge. I connected the Play Bar to the TV and Wow - the sound was excellent. I thought the internet access and iPad control were just bells and whistles, but now I use several of the options: TV sound, songs from my iPad, and Pandora. I find the ability to queue up a couple of tunes to go to sleep with very useful (the Play Bar is in the great room, the iPad control is anywhere in the house). Some of the reviews complain that they cannot hook the Play Bar up to their TV; if you don't pay attention to the specifications, you can find that the Play Bar and your TV might not work together. The Play Bar has one optical audio input. If your TV doesn't have an optical audio out, it won't connect - you need an external converter (not sold by Best Buy). The Samsung TVs will not pass surround sound from the HDMI inputs to the optical output (Samsung design limitation). If you want surround sound from your cable box and/or your DVD player, you'll need an external switch (once again, not sold by Best Buy). Sonos has a very helpful forum - the questions I have had I posted on the forum, and got an answer very quickly. I got one of the user recommended switches, and have great sound from any source which provides Dolby 5.1 surround. Speaking of surround sound, I went back to Best Buy and got two Play-1 speakers for the rear speakers. Adding them was easy, and the effect is great. I now have a home theater I am thrilled with, and I play Blu-Ray DVDs of Hawaii and Tahiti and tell my spouse it's better than a vacation.

    Best sound wireless can be

I installed the Sonos sound bar, sub woofer & Boost yesterday. Took about 10 minutes. The free downloaded app on my phone is awesome. Walked me right through the install process. I held off on getting the satellite speakers until I decide whether or not they are necessary in my media room. Big hardwood floor echo room so sound "surrounds" on its own. For quieter viewing I believe the rear speakers might enhance the overall sound, but louder shoot-em-up scenes were awesome as-is without them. Louder action scenes is where the soundbar & sub shine. Very impressive "total" sound. I don't feel like there's anything missing. I have installed dozens of traditional sound systems "amp driven wall speakers + sub". This system at least rivals that set-up, but the key is it is WIRELESS & controlled by my phone! Amazing tech. Because I am using ROKU streaming "also wireless" for Time-Warner Cable "no cable box" I only have the manufacturer's TV & ROKU remotes. I can't get the Sonos to recognize the TV remote for volume control. I was bumming on that until I realized the app on my phone does! I can control EVERYTHING from my phone...add or delete speakers, volume, custom mix sound...and SO much more than I have even discovered yet. I predominantly use the system for a 70" flat panel media room, but the music possibilities are endless. All those settings are in the app as well. Bottom line is that I have heard other systems that I have installed sound as good or better, but none of them were wireless. And don't get me wrong, this system sounds pretty freaking good! On the expense; the system is expensive, and no one deals on it. Sonos protects it's "value" & anyone selling it has to get full price. But remember, you don't need a power amp or front channel speakers, which makes the sound bar reasonable I think. The sub is crazy expensive relative to other subs, but again it is awesome and it is wireless. I took the hit and don't regret it, but it DID sting at the register.

This playbar does not directly support "true" 5.1 surround sound...however, I have a samsung tv that automatically decodes the signal to the appropriate level to use the full 5.1 surround sound. Most tvs do not have this capability, but some blu ray players do have this (mine does as well), so if you can "actually" tell the difference between "real" 5.1 and coded simulated 5.1 surround sound and you don't have a tv or bluray player with a decoder then this might not be the soundbar for you. For me, it was perfect and I already love the system!! See below review for other sonos system parts. You only thought you were an audiophile before you owned a sonos player/system. I find myself agreeing with one review I found online...that sonos speakers make you feel like, "yes, as a matter of fact, we could use a speaker in this closet!". Once you buy one, you will probably end up with many. I currently have 5 play 1, a connect and playbar. All are amazing!! Some things are not built in features (like the ability to play any app you want over the speakers--as in through bluetooth for example), but a simple bluetooth adapter plugged into the connect makes the whole world your musical stage. These players allow you to connect your music stored on your computer to any speaker in the house, allow you to access it remotely if you have it saved to a sharable folder. Really I can't say enough good things about sonos and the two negatives I have found so far, are far outweighed by the ability to listen to my old records through the system, listen to tapes, cds, digital music files, and loads of streaming radio apps. The controller is a simple app that works through a phone...really, other than the bluetooth problem, which I have rectified with a bose bluetooth adapter hooked to my connect, and the inability of it to play audio being played on your computer throughout the house on the sonos (which I have also rectified using the jamcast app downloaded to my computer), I have had only good experiences with my sonos's!! Have I said that I love this yet? Cuz I do!

I just installed the Sonos Playbar and Sub last night. It was an early Christmas present for the family, because our 1 year old Harman Kardon was not functioning properly. (The factory repair center said 6-8 week repair time) Anyway, we were decorating and my wife wanted Christmas music. So I bring out the sound bar and... the whole family starts laughing at me. Not what I expected but apparently I had forgotten the 6 hours, including one return, that it took me to set up the HK last Christmas. Long story short, setup was a breeze and I got the last laugh. Plug everything in, download the Sonos App on your phone and it walks you through setup. The only glitch was that the Playbar did not fully set up the first go. I just hit Playbar setup on the phone again and it completed it. Maybe a one minute delay. Christmas music was playing in probably half an hour! Sound quality is fantastic! We have a big great room with the kitchen on one end. The Playbar faces the couch, and the kitchen is off to the side. I'm the cook, so I've been used to not hearing good sound from a directional Playbar. The cool thing about the Sonos is that I can actually hear the same great quality sound whether I'm in the kitchen, on the couch or walking around. It's kind of weird how the Sonos does that so well. I recommend the sub. It's expensive but worth it. I know that the Sonos will rarely give you true 5.1, but the Playbar and sub so far are fantastic. We watched a horror movie last night, and several times the sound effects were so good that the girls were screaming! Also, the phone app is amazing. I can stream music from any source on my phone, including some Sonos stations. Voice quality is also very good. I watched the news this morning and could hear clear speech throughout the living room. All in all, a fantastic buy. Expensive and not true 5.1, but only a purist would not be impressed. I may buy an optical splitter if I add rear speakers to get 5.1, but it's so good right now that I'm not sure that I'll ever do that.

I bought this sound bar with the rest of my Sonos system (two play 3's, a sub-woofer, and this sound bar) to use as in home theater mode in my bedroom, to listen to music as I'm walking around the house, and to provide sound for the HTC Vive instead of wearing headphones. When I say this fills the house without being overbearingly loud to me or without my neighbors wanting to call the police, I mean it. Walking around the house means going down the stairs that wrap around a corner to the ground level of the house, where the kitchen and dining room are set behind yet another series of walls and with a room between the stairs and the kitchen / dining room adjoined rooms. Even with all of that, I hear every note in every song I've listened to as if I was sitting in my room - instead of where I really am, which is 10 feet below and 25 feet in the opposite direction of where the speakers are pointed (at the back of the house where they point to the front in the center of my room). I've always liked sound bars, but didn't like how much you'd pay for a mid-tier performing device. The Sonos Playbar completely changed how I think about them, reaffirming my preference completely. The Sonos Playbar is wonderful when paired to a Sonos Sub and two Play 3's, but even on its own, this sound bar will fill the house completely and make you wonder why you didn't just buy this instead of whatever setup you had before. The Playbar's naturally provided bass is incredible, even if it isn't quite at the level a Sonos Sub brings it to (as it should be), and the range of tones this bar projects perfectly will shock you. Don't get another 5.1 system that you won't be happy with in a year or two. Go to a store, test a Sonos Playbar, and feel the difference.

I had been in the market for a new surround sound system for several weeks and just wasn't sure what system to purchase. I read countless reviews online and continued to see Sonos in the top products. Having never seen them nor heard them, I was hesitant about making this my purchase. To my surprise, this conversation came up while talking to a friend and he owned a pair of play1's. After listening to them and watching him navigate through the app on his phone, I was very impressed to say the least. After several more hours of readingreviews online, I decided to go with Sonos. I had it in my head that a pair of play3's would suit me well. When I went to the store to make the purchase, the Sales Rep introduced me to the play bar and sub as well. The sound quality was amazing! And the idea of the 5.1 surround sound was very appealing. After contemplating the price, I decided to buy the package deal (play bar, sub & 2 play 3's) I absolutely love them! They sound just as good at home as they did in the store. And they make watching movies and sporting events even better. I was so impressed that I have since bout another play 3 and a play 1. The play 3 is located in my kitchen and I use the play 1 as a portable speaker. Since they run off my wireless network I move the play 1 from my sunroom to the garage to the porch or wherever I am working around the house. The speakers are extremely easy to set up and work great. I never realized how much I enjoyed listening to music non stop. The app is simple to navigate through and its links with Pandora and Spotify. It also links directly to the music on my phone and iPad. If your in the market for a 5.1 surround sound system, or just a few wireless speakers for the house, I definitely recommend Sonos.

    Outstanding Wireless Playbar

In need of a wireless 5.1 setup because we're moving to a new home with a very open floor plan, I decided to get a replacement system now. So I sold my Bose Acoustimass 5, and researched to death what would be the best wireless speaker replacement. Although I wasn't very crazy about Sonos only having a Toslink audio cable connection vs. HDMI ARC, I went ahead with the Playbar purchase. Some reviewers have said they returned their Playbar because it didn't sound any different than their TV's speakers. Upon my initial connection, I also had this experience. I have a AT&T Uverse cable box. In Settings, the box offers Stereo and Surround Sound settings. The default Stereo setting gives very poor results while the Surround Sound setting gives awesome results. The Playbar projects the sound sideways/outwards giving it a very realistic 3.0 sound as though there was a center speaker and two surround side speakers. Other reviewers complained that Sonos did not provide DTS for a true 5.1 sound effect. Perhaps I do not understand what 5.1 surround sound sounds like, but when I connected a left and a right Play1 speaker, I heard rear speakers with definite sound separation between the two. I watched Pearl Harbor, and Japanese Zeros coming in from behind from the right and from the left were heard that way. I have not added the Sonos Sub as yet as I really haven't felt the need in my current setup. That may change when we move to the larger open floor plan.

Sonos has taken over quality audio

Let me start by saying that I have always been a Bose fan. I have owned Bose equipment for as long as I can remember. I even purchased the Bose soundtouch 120 system before I purchased the Sonos. I was unhappy with the Bose system for multiple reasons. I always do a lot of research before I make a purchase, and read good reviews for both. However, I went with Bose first out of loyalty. When I took the Bose system back I exchanged it for the Sonos playbar, two of the play 2's, and a sub woofer. I could not be happier! The sound that comes out of the playbar is outstanding. If you are looking for a system that has great audio for television, and music this is the system for you. The sound quality is excellent, and with the system set up that I have it creates a much better surround experience than the Bose simulated sound. I know that currently it does not produce Dolby Digital 5.1, but once I purchase a television with optical pass through it will. Again the sound quality is fantastic, and if you have not paired a Sonos sub woofer with it yet you are truly missing out! Above the sound quality is the big differentiating feature of the Sonos products, which is the ability to wirelessly connect all speakers. It works flawlessly, for me at least, and the ability to add speakers at any time is awesome. You can set different speakers to different rooms, and play different things out of each room. TV in one room, music in another. Do not be afraid to try a new brand. If loyalty is holding you back from looking into Sonos then you are missing out on a quality product.

I wholeheartedly recommend this product to anyone who is looking to go wireless with their system or who wants a great sounding SoundBar. Alone, this is one of the best soundbars on the market. Great volume, bass and tweeters make this bar a vast improvement to normal tv volume. The third channel (center channel) is the kicker here, dialog is so much clearer than any 2.0 bar I've had in the past. Add in the Sonos Sub and a couple of Play 1s or Play 3s, then you've got the best wireless system available. Price is pretty steep, but for everything this thing can do and how great it sounds as a unit, it is worth every penny. As for drawbacks, there aren't as many EQ settings as you'd expect for the amount of money paid, that's because they want to make it simple for the most basic user, but the quality of sound makes this a premium product. Add in the ability to group rooms together for multi room listening, then you have a very unique product. Also, the demo kiosk at Best Buy or anywhere does this product no justice, this sounds a million times better at your home than what it does in the store. The best wireless system on the market, anchored by one of the best SoundBars on the market.

If you have read all of the great SONOS reviews, you can believe them all. First and foremost the sound is exceptional. Super easy to set up and expand the system. I downloaded the setup app to my computer and to all the phones in the house and instantly had access to my music library stored in iTunes. Hook up to our 65" 4K TV was quick and easy using just one fiber optic line. Now the sound matches the great picture. We paired the 9-speaker soundbar (Sonos calls it the Playbar) with two SONOS 3 units. The wireless connection through our home network was a breeze...SONOS did most of the work. Can easily group all speakers for whole house sound or play individually. We chose to skip the subwoofer and don't miss it at all. On 'movie night' we bring the two SONOS 3 units into the family room and do a quick change to surround sound. The TruPlay feature will optimize each satellite speaker to the individual room. The app is very user friendly and each person in the house can control their speaker. Can adjust volume and playlist by room, which is a great feature if anyone has the volume cranked a bit to high. No lag time between speakers when playing whole house audio. Yes, the SONOS is priced higher than most soundbars, but in my opinion well worth the investment. The only downside I can find is that Spotify music requires a premium subscription for SONOS. We will always be on the lookout for open box units to further expand our system because SONOS doesn't go on sale.

I recently replaced my living room tv with a 70" Visio smart TV M series. The sound that comes with TV's these days are sub par at best. So I started doing my research on sound bars and overall sound systems. I wanted a system that was truely wireless that I could add speakers to as I wanted to (when I had the extra dough saved up). I did not want speakers that were labeled as wireless but still had to be connected to the sub woofer. I wanted a system that did not require a separate remote. Of course I wanted the best sound quality as well and I did not want to have to hire a technician to install it. That's when I discovered Sonos products. I went to best buy and Amazon online customer reviews and read everything I could about this system and manufacturer. The real techy dudes seemed to like this product as well as the novice TV watcher and music listeners. So I went to the best buy store and further compared to other systems. I guess this is one of those examples of "you get what you pay for" moments. The Sonos Playbar is definitely pricy, but well worth the money. This is a superior product and all of the things I wanted and did not want were fulfilled. I can't wait to buy the sub and play 1's. This playbar is wonderful. One last thing, make sure you buy the sonos boost wireless transmitter. I tried to get away without it at first, however, I quickly drove back to best buy to purchase this. Makes installation super easy!

I bought this as part of the home theater package that includes the sub and two play 1's. I have it connected to my TV in surround sound. I use it for both my home theater and to listen to music. First off, the setup is incredibly simple and fast. I have had traditional home theater systems in the past and they have always been a huge ordeal to setup, and dial in just right. Just running speaker wire through the walls for surround sound systems would take 50 times longer than it took to setup the whole Sonos system. I plugged all of the speakers in where I wanted them, fired up the app, walked through a few guided steps and boom, surround sound. Literally a 10 minute affair. As for the sound? It sounds fantastic for both TV and music. It's loud and clear, and gives you nice control over the EQ and each speaker. I had two motivations in purchasing this system over others. Ease of setup/lack of wire, and expandability. It meets and surpasses both of those requirements. I can now buy additional speakers piecemeal and add them around my house for music in every room. I'm sure that there are traditional systems that can sound better or more "pure", but those will likely cost more money, be significantly more difficult to set up, not look nearly as nice and clean, and to the average person, you'd never be able to tell the difference in sound quality anyway. It is also a premium price. This system is an investment, and probably not the ideal fit for everyone, but if you're looking for elegant design, dead simple setup and control, and the ability to expand into a whole home audio solution, it'd be hard to do better than this.

After taking back two different sound bars with surround sound and spending hours in the store debating on the best system to purchase, I bought the sonos playbar with the sub and two surround speakers. I was skeptical at first because of this system only being able to run with wifi. The initial setup was really simple using the app on my phone. Once the speakers tuned themselves for the large room they were in, the speakers were ready to go. I was completely blown away with the sound coming out of these speakers! After listening to the sonos system, I seriously would pay twice as much for the sonos playbar and sub. There was so many times while listening to music that I would just get chills because it sounded so awesome. Watching movies with the sonos surround is quite incredible also. The way sound flies around the room is amazing! The ease of setting up the different sound settings through the app is super user friendly and being able to set the sound differently to either watch tv or listen to music is fantastic! This was one of the best purchases that I have ever made!

Great sound, but there's minimum low tones.

Its a great Sonos product as to be expected. Sonos make great speakers. The sound bar have minimum low tones; if you like bass, you will need to purchase a sub component. If you're using it for music, the bar will do the trick, but it's not good alone for movies. The bar needs a sub and two play 3's for surround sound (the full 5:1 sound experience). You can not use the surround sound feature without these components. The speakers are easy to set up. You will need internet to use your speakers. The internet is needed to play your music and to control the speakers. The speakers do not come with a remote, you will have to download the Sonos app to your phone or wireless device to control the speakers. Sonos have great customer support service. They can communicate with your system wireless and fix most problems quickly through the internet. If your internet service is low quality, it can effect the performance of your speakers. I would recommend this product with the purchase of at less the subwoofer for the best sound. If you only purchase the bar, the sub should be your next purchase in building your system. The sound bar sounds great, but it is just a component. In order to get the full experience of this product, you will want to invest in the other components (a sub and two play 3's). Keep in mind, you must have a left and right rear speaker for surround sound on this system. The Sonos system will not allow you to use the surround feature without at less a bar, sub, and two play 3's; you must have them all for this feature to work.

I have Sonos 5 and Sonos One and i am very satisfied with the quality of sound they produce. To me this brand surpass the performance of the well-known Bose surround sound speakers that i have in my family room. Now that i need a sound system to pair with my projector for my home theater in the basement, supposed to buy Sonos soundbar but the rep from Magnolia in BB introduced to me the Definitive Technology Micro soundbar and i was convinced to get it. I bought the unit rightaway bec i was impressed with the sound but i ended up returning it bec i realized that i’m not satisfied with its overall performance. I replaced it with this Sonos Soundbar instead which was originally my first choice. I was actually blown away with its clear, crisp, solid sound especially on watching movies. You can hear every details even the tiny sounds that you couldn’t hear from your regular TV speaker. Plus, the set up is way too easy and quick. And, it is accessible to manage all your Sonos speakers in the entire house with its user friendly app that you don’t need a remote to control each one of them. With just the use of your phone or your ipad you can play all of them simultaneously in every room. I would say all Sonos speakers line up are amazing. The soundbar has already a superb bass quality but I can’t wait to add the Sonos Subwoofer to add punch to it. You can’t ask for more if you own this unit. It has all the package that you will look for a quality sound.

I had a Sony 3D sound bar to pair with my 55" Sony Bravia and I was looking for something a bit better. I visited Best Buy and the Magnolia guys demonstrated this for me and I was blown away! It is technologically advanced and innovative allowing you to connect to your router to sync up with your Ipad or Iphone to not only control but play music wirelessly. Plus the sound connected to your TV is awesome. Forget the cluttered look of a home theater system with a receiver and wires coming from every direction, this is one single bar connected to the TV with one wire. The set up could not have been simpler. Plus it syncs with any universal remote and paired up with my Harmony 900 nicely. The total set up to less than 10 minutes and I was up and running. I eventually would buy the other speakers to pair with this playbar but for now this does a great job on its own. My only concern is that it is pretty large and takes up the front of the TV but who cares. It does a great job and cranking it up, it blows away any 5.1 system!
