The Sony HTXT2 2.1 is exactly what I hoped it would be a full range audio system with sufficient bass response to eliminate the need for an external subwoofer. There's no doubt that a surround system with larger speakers would be more impressive, but all I wanted was a simple audio system that sounds good. The HTXT2 2.1 is just what I needed to boost the sound from my Sony TV, it synced perfectly with my Sony. The sound is clear and makes watching movies possible and listening to my music from YOUTUBE sound AMAZING. This is not meant to be a replacement for a Home Theater System. It does augment and complete your TV watching and music listening experience.

I knew I wanted this particular soundbar from the moment I saw it on the Best Buy website. As I upgrade my A/V systems at home, I am super conscious of space saving "big bang for the bucks" value - and the Sony HTXT2 fits the bill perfectly. Its a Sony and this soundbar (which should be named a "soundbase" exudes quality. I love the super simple interface, sturdy construction and heft, piano black finish and last but certainly not least - the SOUND! The base will easliy hold and support a large screen 65 to 70 inch TV, just make sure your TV's legs and feet are set in from the outside edge - I have a 39 inch Insignia TV with wide-set legs (25 inches) and the base is about 28 1/2 inches across so it fits perfectly with just enough room to spare - the "feet" of my TV are about an inch and a half from the edge on each side. I'm looking at an even larger screen TV for Christmas or Super Bowl and the models I am interested all have their bases/feet closer to the center of the TV which is perfect. I assume most folks will question the sound, especially the downward firing subwoofer. Rest assured, this soundbar is plenty loud, the downward firing sub is thunderous and takes a big wired subwoofer off of my floor WIN! This unit is compatible with the Sony bluetooth wireless surround speakers (Sony SRS ZR-5), which is fantastic BYE BYE WIRES! This thing is LOUD and the bass response is thunderous. Summary: Compact, elegant and delivering the goods on big hi-fi sound and didn't cost a fortune and I get to lose speaker wires and an external subwoofer box = WINNER!

Excellent product. It is loud, quick, a great speaker for the TV. Its better than my other sony sound bar with a subwoofer. This one does the same as my other one and sounds better. I was skeptical about the built in subwoofer but it sounds great. It comes with built in google cast but only for music. I wish it could stream videos to the TV as well. I recommend to anyone.

I purchased this sound base along with a 55" Sony 4K tv. The tv's pedestal stand fit nicely on top of the speaker. Also, the hdmi arc communicated perfectly between the two right out of the box. After a combination of mixed usage between video games, music, movies, and satellite tv, I'm pretty impressed with this sound base. There are several preselected sound modes, but I just keep it on standard. The highs are crisp and clear, the voices are easily intelligible, and the bass is decent enough for my bedroom viewing. It is definitely a big improvement from the tv's internal speakers. It also has a digital front panel display, feels well built and is aesthetically pleasing. It will not replace a true surround sound system, but for a bedroom it fits the bill nicely.

This is an awesome product and I would have given it 5 stars but I am not happy with Best Buy. This is an "Open Box" item and even though it says on the box HDMI Cable included there was no HDMI cable included. I called Best Buy and i received the regular run around from one department to the next. I was looking at soundbars and stumbled across Best Buy's website. I didn't have a lot of money to spend but still wanted something nice. I saw the HT-XT2 and was a little sceptical at first about the built in subwoofer. I like a lot of bass and wasn't sure if it would provide... But with 170 watts and the outstanding performance of SONY products I decided to give it a shot. I ordered it around 2am on Wednsday and it was at my front door the next day at 2pm. Best free shipping I have ever had! I ripped open the box and plugged it in. It surpassed all my expectations! It is PLENTY loud, has crisp clean highs, boasting mid range, and bass you can feel. I would definitely recommend it.

Sound is good and fair simple to connect. However I wish it had the HDMI in/out ports like the previous version.

I have purchased three of these as gifts. I bought one first to test, then went ahead and got two more after being satisfied with the first. For the price this is a very solid product. Is it going to replace a big multi-piece surround sound system? No. That's not really what it's meant for though. This is meant to give you bigger, fuller, and better quality sound than you'd get from built in speakers. And it does that very well. Sound is very pleasing. Despite only have a ~5 woofer, the low end is still pretty full for most circumstances. Mids and highs are also good, especially given the price. That it has separate tweeters and mid range speakers is a definite bonus at this price, and you can hear the different. On top of the generally pleasing sound quality (again, taking into account the price and the goal of the product), that you can stream music, mirror Android phones, use Spotify Connect, and other features it has, it's difficult to beat at the price it's sold at. There are two main down sides. One, there is no subwoofer output, so if you wanted more bass, that isn't an option. The second is both a plus and a minus. You can use Sony WiFi speakers and get actual surround sound with this unit, The downside is that they're more expensive that the sound base itself by a factor of about 2, which makes it somewhat impractical. At that point you might as well buy a low end surround sound system.. Overall, if you're looking to get good, full sound, for both music and movies, and don't want to spend a lot or take up a lot of space, I really recommend this product. For the price and size, it's a great product.

Has good bass and a very loud volume with a balanced sound. Note this is for smaller tv's and to be placed under a tv 40 and under. If you are looking for great bass that would require a system with a separate subwoofer but those systems take a lot more room this is for a situation when minimal room is wanted a nice compact system it is with good sound for a banging system with deep bass look elsewhere but for the price and space requirements you can't beat this.

I waited a long time to get a soundbar. I didn't want to spend too much and since my TV doesn't have an optical port I was limited in terms of options. I needed something that supports HDMI ARC. If you're in a similar boat you might consider this soundbar. Dialogue during loud action scenes is still not quite clear (though a LOT clearer than with the TV's speakers) but music sounds great and there's a generally a more lively, textured sound quality to TV and movies. The sound can get a bit muddied during the most hectic scenes but overall the sound is solid and the Blu-tooth support is a plus. This is a solid upgrade over TV audio though not life changing.

TV speakers have not always been the best of audio output options, but anymore HDTV speakers are just terrible. This speaker stand gives you a much clearer sound as it projects audio forward rather than downward or backward like many TV speaker do. The built-in sub woofer allows you to adjust how much bass you want. A big plus for this speaker stand is that it takes up less room than a sound bar and sub woofer as it fits completely under your TV.

Sony has done it again with this simple Soundbar and Sub all put together in one simple box. It features two front speakers and one sub in the back. Please be aware that this soundbar is actually deeper in size than most soundbars to allow room for the bass speaker. My TV sits on top of it quite nicely. My only con is the volume isn't the loudest but it works perfectly for my bedroom. Ease to sync to my TV and an Echo Dot.

Purchased this sound bar after getting Sony UHD TV, the television has a great picture, but the sound needed help. This sound bar improved the sound. Would buy it again!

I purchased this sound bar because it has built in bluetooth transmitter. I wanted to be able to listen to the TV with headphones after my wife went to bed. The sound quality is great and works great with my Sony headphones. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is that it does not have an HDMI input for a second device so I have to run another cable to the TV to connect the HD cable from the cable box. It would be nice if I could route it through the sound bar. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase

While we wanted a soundbar to improve the audio from our TV, we had a very specific need with respect to size, and this filled it perfectly. Is it the best sounding, loudest soundbar out there? No, but it was never purported to be a direct competitor for those very expensive units. Additionally, finding the size of a unit that worked with our space was tough. This unit fit the bill, sounds really nice doing it, and is definitely an upgrade over the TV speakers. Getting it on clearance? $$ bonus!

We are limited in space so this sound bar is perfect for us. It's smaller than most but the sound is excellent. The subwoofer is built in - we like the fact that we didn't need to find a space for it!

I read several reviews before I bought this product. The product is not all that spectacular but quite ideal for a very small space. However, it's subwoofer is superb hence, I gave the 4 star rating.

This is a killer product. Easy, simple install with wireless connectivity, Beautiful enriched sound to enhance any TV. Nice feature being able to play music lists directly from phone also. All at a very good price

I've always been a Sony fan ever since. My own personal experience with their products have always been good. I have the HTXT1 and I love it. We live in a small apartment so this kind of home theater system is perfect. Asides from saving space, it also satisfies our need for an exceptional sound. I would definitely recommend this sound system if you have a small space. I also love the HTXT2's wifi capability & it's built in Google Cast. It's like Sony read my mind & stuffed all that I wanted in a cool looking rectangular box. 5 stars to this awesome creation by Sony!

At first I was not impressed with the sound. But after using for a while the sound improved. Yes, speakers can sound better after an initial wear in period.
