Hi EricD, We’re really sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the volume control on your Sony W830K . That must be so frustrating, especially after just six weeks! Let’s try to get this sorted out for you. First, can you share if the volume freezes during something specific—like when you’re streaming, watching live TV, or using an HDMI-connected device? Also, do you have any external devices connected, such as a soundbar or cable box? While we wait for your response, here are some steps that may help: 1. Check for Software Updates: Sometimes, a simple update can fix issues like this. You can check for the latest firmware on the Sony support page: www.sony.com/electronics/support/lcd-tvs-android-w8xxk-series/kd-32w830k/software/00294954 2. Check Your Remote and TV Sensors: Ensure your remote is working properly and there’s nothing blocking the sensor on the TV. You can also try adjusting the volume using the TV’s physical buttons. 3. Turn Off HDMI-CEC (BRAVIA Sync): On your remote, press HOME → Settings → External Inputs → HDMI CEC (BRAVIA Sync) → Turn Off. This feature sometimes causes control issues. 4. Enable IP Control: Press Quick Settings or HOME → Settings → Network → Home Network → Set IP Control to ON. 5. Factory Reset (if the issue persists): If nothing works, a full reset can often resolve stubborn issues. Please note this will erase your apps, Google account, and Wi-Fi settings. You can follow the steps for a reset here: www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-32w830k/articles/00202121 If you need further assistance or have additional concerns, may we contact you directly? If so, please email the following information and the answers to the questions above to socialsupport@am.sony.com. Apologies if you've already shared this information with customer service — we just want to ensure we have your most accurate details: Full Name: Username: Telephone Number: Additional Information regarding your experience with the TV. We completely understand how frustrating this must be, and we’re here to support you through the process. Sony is committed to ensuring your satisfaction, and we hope to get you back to enjoying your TV without any more hassles. Best regards, Maria sony-global

First let me say that they didn’t have it on display. They had about 10 in stock and was surprised. Salesman said I could return it. Got it home and the picture was just so so. Not what I expected from Sony. I know it was only 720 but for the price I thought it would be better. Returned the same day and got the 4k Samsung open box for only 20 more. If they didn’t have that I would have got the Vizio 1080 which looked better than this Sony

Hi Jpwins, Thanks for sharing your experience. We're sorry to hear that you are not impressed with the picture quality of your Sony TV that it had to be returned. In most cases, the quality of the picture displayed on your TV depends on the source. The higher the quality from the source means the better picture to be displayed on your TV screen. You can also configure the picture settings on your TV through the system settings depending on your preference. Again, we appreciate the feedback. We hope that you'd still consider our products in your future purchases. Regards, -Craig Sony_US

Apparently everything is set up correctly and even the television button is the cheapest thing I've ever seen on any TV in my life.I'm still shocked at how cheap this thing is made. Doesn't seem to like being locked out of wifi

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Overall I like the Sony; but I have noted a few problems that I have figured out workarounds. First it is not connected to wifi unless I think it needs an update. I don't use the various pay services - it's a simple tv for me. As a result it's performance gradually gets more and more erratic - doubling key entries, slower channel changing, etc. The solution I use for now is unplugging for a few minutes every 2-3 weeks. Off hand I'd say the operating system is accumulating data which starts overrunning buffers and corrupting the system. Second problem is it doesn't seem to auto adjust the display brightness to ambient lighting. For now I use the high power savings to tone down the painfully bright display during nightime tv and turn off power savings during daytime. I tried the regular brightness setting but it's either too high or low depending on the ambient conditions. Just can't seem to find a middle ground. Otherwise I like the 20 watt power consumption and 1/4 watt when powered off, the picture is nice and sharp although I sometimes find low light settings in programs almost too dark to see the actors. Haven't found a way to improve that either. Sound is ok but I feel I often have to have the level up in the 30's or 40's if there's any noise in the room. If this one lasts 20 years like my Bravia did I'll be happy with the purchase.

      Hi 2ndsonymodel,

Thank you for sharing your experience! We're glad to hear you're enjoying the picture quality and energy efficiency of your Sony W830K TV, and we appreciate your detailed feedback.

To address the performance issues and brightness adjustment concerns, here are a few helpful tips:

      TV Performance Freezing/Slowing Down:
Since you mentioned the TV performance becomes sluggish after some time, performing a power cycle like you've been doing is a great temporary solution. However, you may also want to clear the cache or perform a software update to optimize performance.

      Here's a guide that might help: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00200862?utm_source.

      Brightness Auto-Adjustment:
Your TV has an Auto Luminance Level feature that can automatically adjust the screen brightness according to ambient light.

Go to Settings > Display & Sound > Picture > Advanced settings > Auto luminance level.

Turn it on and adjust as needed.

This should help balance the brightness for daytime and nighttime viewing.

      Optimize Picture and Sound Settings:
Sony TVs offer customizable picture and sound settings that you can fine-tune to match your preferences.

      For Picture Settings: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00190409?utm_source.

      For Sound Settings: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00302857?utm_source.

We hope these tips enhance your viewing experience.

If you need further assistance or have additional concerns, may we contact you directly? If so, please email the following information to socialsupport@am.sony.com. Apologies if you've already shared this information with customer service — we just want to ensure we have your most accurate details: Full Name: Username: Telephone Number: Additional Information regarding your experience with the TV.

Best small TV readily available (at any price)

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My TV requirements are good quality image and sound, everything else is bonus. I Bought for small LR, hard to find a quality 32” TV. First tried two 43” and not happy with their quality or viewing angle, sometimes more is less. Picture quality is good to very good, just a fine hair below 1080 in real world conditions, probably because this TV is small compared to todays monster TV’s. The viewing angle range is awesome, much better than most LED TV’s. Sound is good enough from built in speakers for a smaller room with no oddities I’ve found in other TV’s. A little expensive but apparently it’s hard to find a smaller TV with good image/sound and large viewing angle nowadays. Does come with Bluetooth, not sure why that’s not mentioned on box or description Reasons it’s not a 5, - out of box picture was not good, low brightness and subdued colors, I considered returning it. After “calibration”, the new buzzword for tuning the image, it is very good, I’d consider it excellent, especially for price/size, though not quite as bright as I’d prefer in ideal world - external power supply is an irritation, works fine but I think it’s a little inconvenient in case of loss would be a pain to replace - OEM stand is too low, so requires a taller table/bench etc. - apparently no advanced sound adjustments available Why this TV? It’s the ONLY smaller TV with combo good image, good sound, wide viewing angle. Also has very adjustable image via “advanced settings”, things like gamma, clarity, color temp, sharpness, black point, and several others I can’t recall as well as usual brightness, contrast etc.
