The picture on any of the new tv's seems odd as the people are clear but the backgound is always out of focus. The instruction pamphlet was written by a 1st grader and doesn't explain any real features

We are sorry to hear that you are finding the interface and picture settings of your new BRAVIA 2 difficult to navigate. Regarding the focus issue, this is often caused by high "Reality Creation" or "Sharpness" settings which can create an artificial depth-of-field effect; you can adjust this by going to Settings > Display & Sound > Picture > Clarity and lowering the Sharpness or turning Reality Creation to Manual. For the remote, we recommend using the Google Assistant button to find features via voice or visiting the Sony Support website for our interactive digital Help Guide: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/product/k-43s20m2/manuals which offers much more detail than the printed pamphlet.
