Sony Not What They Use To Be!!!!

Avoid all Sony Televisions at all costs. They may work fine during the warranty period but I'll bet a nickle to your doughnut that shortly after a year it'll fail. Why do I say this? Because the Sony forum is filling up fast with many of the same complaints of failure and Sony refuses to address the issue. The problem exists across their entire product line. Be sure to check the Sony television forum before you spend a dime on a Sony television.

but everything else is horrible. My 8th and last Sony. Everyone has a good picture today. This remote is horrible. It's as ergonomically poor as you can get. The guide is horrible. The hookups to your other systems are horrible. There are no external controls on the TV itself. If you temporarily misplace the remote, you're set until you find it. And on and on and on.............

No power cord Listed as satisfactory but came with nothing, no remote, no stand, and NO POWER CORD! Getting ahold of someone to resolve the issue is impossible.i can see no stand or remote, but the power cord. Satisfactory is supposed to have all essential components

Very happy with purchase, was deciding between this and the Samsung QLED same size. Was told by rep that the Samsung has slightly brighter colors but the Sony has better processor and works better with older equipment such as blu-ray players, etc., so I opted for the Sony as I don't plan on getting 4k UHD player anytime soon - if at all. Great picture display - plenty of 4k video available on Youtube to watch, as well as some of the streaming services (Amazon, Netflix, etc.). Only thing I'm not crazy about is the stand - would prefer the type of stand on the earlier model (X800E), as it takes up less space.

    OK for black friday price

This tv is ok for the black friday price but no way is it worth $599. I bought the set for 3 reasons. To elimnate need for a firesstick, bluetooth audio and support for Chromecasting, 1. The tv does not support buetooth audio as it states under specfications on Best Buy.'s website Even Sony reps have said on Amazon reviews it supports bluettoth audio. If you call Sony, they will tell you it does not. I will still need a firestick as the Android OS is a bit locked down for installing other apps. 2. The legs on the tv cause the tv lean back about 5 degrees. Maybe good on a low stand not so much on a higher stand. 3. The input for the antenna is in a very poor spot way towards the outer left side and it's imposiible to route hide the coaxial cable. 4. The android os is a restricted os and you won't be able to sideload some apps the way you can to the firestick os. 5. It does have a very nice remote.. There are no controls, not even a power button on the tv, (As we all know, remotes tend to wear out overtime. It may be wise to buy a 2nd remote). 6. Being an android tv and not needing a firestick is both a plus and a minus. For eexample, I was hoping to have access to the IMDB Free app, but Sony does not allow it. I use the IMDB app enough to stil need to use a firestick on this set. I'm happy with the picture. Naviigation/setup is intuitive. The tv has an IPS panel which is another reason I bought it. I need wider viewing angles that VA panels do not have.

    Usb media storage is unreliable

    Posted .

If you plan to attach your own USB media storage Drive, I do not recommend this TV. We usually use the local media storage for workout videos. There were a couple of video apps we tried and found one called Kodi to be intuitive. But a number of times we would go to play the a video from the USB storage, and there would be nothing there. Several USB thumb drives have been erased or corrupted by whatever is going on with this TV. After removing the thumb drive from the TV and looking at it on my laptop it was unreadable. Needed to be reformatted. We thought a new TV would be nice with all the extra features, being an Android smart device. I have not talked to support about this particular issue yet but this is actually a replacement TV. The first one wouldn't take any HDMI inputs. It was covered under warranty so no complaints about Sony's customer service. The other features of the TV are great. Picture is excellent sound is great. Options from the App Store are endless. If you don't plan to use the USB storage, this TV will work out great. For us, it became a problem so not very thrilled.

    Disappointing picture quality.

I completed weeks of research to replace my 2 year-old Samsung LED TV because I was excited about the new 4K UHD televisions I had been looking at in Best Buy. The research was lengthy because of all the choices between OLED TVs, and the many other 4K choices. The store reps were very helpful and patient in explaining all the many pros and cons between the many makes and models. So after looking at all of the choices in the store, I was extremely impressed by the sharp, detailed picture of the Sony 43 inch X800G 4K UHD TV with HDR on display. The picture was gorgeous and the detail and sharpness of the images were dramatic. I also purchased a AudioQuest-Ocean HDMI cable at the suggestion of the rep. A very pricey cable, but the rep assured me it will be well worth the price because it will enhance the TV picture unlike the cables that were far less costly. I was extremely excited to get my tv home and set this thing up. The installation was quite easy and the set-up went smoothly. Then came the test. I scrolled through various live and HD movie channels in search of that great picture display I had seen in the store. It simply never happened and I could not be more disappointed in a purchase. I have adjusted the picture settings for hours and have not come close to the sharp, well-defined display I viewed in the store. There is absolutely no difference between the picture display on this new Sony 4K TV and my older Samsung LED TV. In some cases (sports displays, such as soccer and football), the picture quality of the older TV was sharper than this newer model. My bubble was burst and I could not be more disappointed after so much anticipation.

    Poor contrast and dark HDR.

Had the 49 took back to get the 43 because to large for my stand, and boy not happy and returned and will stay away from this model!! First I have loved Sony over the years but this 4K HDR just doesn't make the cut, Bad contrast, dark picture mostly on HDR stuff. I calibrate all my TVS and this tv just can't get close to what I am looking for in a good tv. No more edge lit tvs for me as the light bleeds from the sides are not good .

Disappointed in Sony Customer Relations - $5K TV

    Posted .

Bought Sony High End 85" TV (XBR85X950G) for ~$5K - had always been a fan of Sony Products. Unfortunately, after 1,100 hours of use (should last well over 40,000 hours) TV exhibited constant horizontal streaks - called TV repairman - diagnosis bad panel and cannot be repaired. Back and forth with Sony Customer Relations Team with no resolution. Now stuck with an "infant mortality" failed TV paid over $5K - Sony Customer Service has not responded with resolution after providing all Sony requested information (model, S/N, etc.) and TV repairman diagnosis for which I paid - very disappointed with Sony; hope Sony would remedy situation - could then as a minimum, recommend them in the future support - based on current status cannot recommend Sony or Sony Customer Relations Team.
