Love the quality. The screen size is nice. Speakers are very weak. I had to buy sound bar just to get normal volume. But this is same with most new tv's today. My last sony had excellent speakers but only lasted about 8yrs or so.

Been buying Sony products for years and this is our fourth Sony TV (one is really an HD projector). This TV is replacing an older Sony 40" TV in a bedroom so we did not want anything larger than 43". We originally bought the Samsung QN43Q60AAFXZA TV and while it was a good TV, the viewing angle and audio were poor. The Samsung also had a defect, so we decided not to replace it, but return it and get this Sony.
The viewing angle is far better because of the display type (Sony IPS - In-Plane Switching vs. Samsung VA - Vertical Alignment) which was important for us as we watch from three different viewing angles in the bedroom. Didn't want to constantly be turning the TV. In my opinion, you can get pretty similar picture levels as the Samsung VA display if you play around with the advanced display settings.
Black level is important to me, but sometimes Samsung plays up their contrast and black level benefits too much. They do have a good, deep black. In real life, there often is ambient light bouncing around to where black colors are not totally black. Sony, IMO, offers a bit more realistic scene with a good black level. And if you adjust settings, you can get a pretty deep black to where you start to actually lose detail in the black areas. Just like Samsung!
Audio is very good...for a flat screen TV. One reason is the larger back area on the TV. Bass is deeper than the Samsung and sound does not sound 'tinny' or hollow (like the Samsung really did). While a soundbar or external speaker system would obviously sound better, Sony did not disappoint for built-in audio components. Simulated surround does add a little more width to the sound profile and not all that tin can-like.
We have Dish Network so that has Netflix, Prime, and YouTube so we do not use the TV's apps Home screen. It does have a lot of apps and options since it is an Android TV. Casting from an Apple or Android device to the TV works well, if needed.
The biggest disappointment is Sony's misleading marketing of this TV having "Bluetooth." While it may for keyboards and mice (really?!), it in no way would connect to ANY of the seven Bluetooth audio speakers or earbuds I tried. Not even THEIR OWN Sony WFXB700/L earbuds, which I now have to return!! It is a known complaint in their TVs. I think that maybe they do support audio in their 65" or larger?? My other 55" Sony doesn't even have Bluetooth audio! If anyone knows of a brand that can connect audio headphones via Bluetooth with this TV, please let me know!
Overall, we are glad the Samsung was defective and that we bought this instead (which I was really leaning toward buying but got caught up in the Samsung marketing).

Hi Tron8888, Glad to hear that you are happy with the picture and sound quality of your new X800H TV! For the Bluetooth, the X800H series TV does not natively support Bluetooth A2DP standard for audio out. This feature may work with a compatible external USB Bluetooth Adapter or 3rd party Bluetooth applications that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Thank you for choosing Sony as your brand. -Carl

I bought all new smart tv's for Christmas for our home. I bought OLED Bravia by Sony for Family room Game room etc, but when it came down to my sons bedrooms I just could not justify the price. They both have apple laptops for school work and ASUS gaming laptops and when I viewed the picture on on this screen I was thoroughly impressed. I have been a Sony customer since college and they always been great! I liked these so much I bought two one for each of my son's bedrooms and they love it! And I could not have been happier with the price! You will not be disappointed!

This is a real good tv. It replaced a 40 inch Samsung 7000 series tv. I use it for a computer monitor. It's not too big for a monitor, but I wouldn't go any larger. I wish Sony would make their real high end TVs in 43 inch models to use as computer monitors. I think they're missing an unserved market. Actual computer monitors this size with similar specs cost twice as much as this Sony cost on sale. The setup was real easy. I've streamed Netflix and Amazon movies with no problems. Counterstrike never looked so good. The stereo sound is also very good.

The Sony - 43 inch Class X800H Series LED 4K TV is an excellent choice for a mid size smart TV. It can be wall hung or on the stand supports provided with the TV. The sound is great and the picture quality is even better. Colors are more natural and the contrast is sharp. It has been a no contest with the 43 inch smart TV it replaced. Especially given the Best Buy price. Installation was quite easy but having a second person is recommended given its size to remove from the shipping box and setting it onto a book shelf area.

I purchased an X950 for the home office. After getting it home and set up, it was decided it needed to go into the master bedroom. So off to Best Buy to look for something that wouldn't break the bank. In this size and price range most are edge lit so there are trade offs. I looked at several and this X800H had a very impressive picture. No light bleed around the edges and very uniform color and picture. Brought it home and got it all set up. It gets bright for for daytime viewing and looks great at night. Perfect addition to the home office.

We wanted to replace the TV in my wife's sewing room, because she spends a lot of time there and I was wiring our finished basement for ethernet connections. First we got a 43" LG, but we took it back and exchanged for this one (actually paid quite a bit more) because we strongly prefer the Android interface. Setup was a snap, we got all our streaming channels quickly added, and the ethernet hookup went smoothly. Sony's rich, glowing but realistic colors and the ease of access to the picture menu sealed the deal. Very, very happy with this purchase.

I am not disappointed in this purchase. It is a smart TV which I am just learning about since I have other android products, the quality of the picture is distinct and crisp, audio is also first class. I have it mounted on the wall and it a breeze to adjust. It has so many features that I have to key into the tutorials to learn about each one. I am very grateful to have purchased this when I did.

Solid 4k TV, Some mild software issues

This is overall a solid 4K TV - I keep it in my bedroom and it works very well. I primarily use it for media streaming and gaming. It looks very good for video consumption, though dark room performance fits squarely in the "could be a lot better" category. Seems like there's absolutely no local dimming, which leads to not great black levels. If you're in a room with about average brightness, it looks great and HDR performance is pretty solid. I've watched a few films on this and don't have any complaints.
Speakers are OK for a TV this size - passable for bedroom use but I did wind up investing in a small sound bar to get a bit more kick out of it. I/O is solid, but I do wish it included an RCA cable adapter - I wound up having to order one from a Sony supplier to play retro game systems. Physically, the TV looks great - the frame itself feels solid to the touch and the bezels are unoffensive. The feet are narrow, which is perfect for the stand I have it on, though I can't fit the sound bar between them.
Gaming performance is good - response times are excellent for a TV (around 10ms based on research) when in game mode. There's currently a software issue that has game mode fail to enable- it's easy enough to fix, but it's annoying that I have to do it every time I use the TV for gaming. HDR gaming is good as well. I play a lot of twitch action shooters such as call of duty and rainbow six siege, and I haven't felt that input lag hasn't been a factor in losses (mainly just my lack of skill).
The TV is powered by Android TV - if you're able to get past Google harvesting your data and serving ads to you on your own TV, it's a solid operating system that runs pretty well. The experience is generally consistent and I don't have issues crashing.
Based on pricing today (Early September), this is definitely more expensive than the competition - I feel this is a higher quality product than others, and definitely fits in the not entry-level category than similar 4K TVs at smaller price points are. I can provide a solid recommendation on this if you're looking for a multi-purpose TV, but if you're specifically looking for one that's great for high quality media, I'd step up to a version with better local dimming and potentially OLED.

I have an earlier model of this tv. When lightning hit my house a few years ago it split the chimney, where it was mounted. The chimney fell into the house destroying the roof. It was pouring rain and soaked the tv. I took it down and stored it under a bed in a back bedroom while it took 6 months to build the house back. My 43” Sony was the only electrical device that survived and I’m still using it today. Works perfectly.

PC Monitor

I bought this as a PC monitor. I use it for normal PC use and gaming. The colors are good, as is the brightness. I like that it has an ethernet port as I hate placing stationary devices on Wi-Fi. It is a 4:4:4 monitor, so text looks great. Smart TV functions are OK. I'm using this as a PC monitor, so I'm more likely to run a streaming service off my PC than use the Android app. I have an Echo on my desk, so using the Google Assistant isn't my first thought. Gaming is good. I have a 2070 RTX laptop, and it does well in gaming mode. The size of this TV makes up for any shortcomings this TV has over a much more expensive gaming monitor. There is no noticeable lag. Although it isn't as smooth as a super high refresh rate monitor. It is acceptable.
My biggest complaint is that it is edge lit. Blacks are gray, and not uniform. You can see the edge lighting on the top and bottom when the screen is a solid color. At first I thought I was going to have to take the TV back, but I played some Deus Ex: Human Revolution and checked it out in dark areas. I didn't really notice it while playing the game. I had to stop and really look to see it. Even watching cut scenes didn't bother me.
I have it on my desk at the moment, and it is huge. I plan to get a stand to mount it to just behind my desk (I'm not against a wall.) Even so, I have plenty of room on my desk with the TV sitting here. I'm sitting 3 feet from the screen. I have to turn my head to see everything, which is great for gaming. It makes it feel more immersive without the inconvenience of a VR headset such as not being able to see the KB/mouse/controller.
One unexpected "feature" of this monitor is that it shows how low res web images are. For example, as I'm typing this review, the picture of the TV on this page is very pixelated. On the other hand, editing photos is awesome. I can really blow them up and see how well they will look when printed.
Overall, I am very pleased with this TV as a monitor, and do not think any other TV of this size would have been better.

Full disclosure: I am a huge SONY and Philips fangirl, and this replaced a cheap VIZIO set that was bought because... well, it was cheap and I needed a TV. Once I was able to upgrade, this ticked all the boxes.
First of all, for the price, the picture quality and sound from this TV is excellent. FHD and 4K content both look great, and the built-in speakers easily fill my small-ish open concept living room at 30% volume with minimal tinniness. Expecting it to fill a 400 sqft theatre space would be unreasonable.
I primarily use this as a monitor, not a SMART device, but when I do use the built-in apps, the Android interface is unobtrusive, allows me to organize my most-used apps, and generally stays out of the way. A huge plus: it doesn't SPAM me with ads like my previous set did.
It also has AirPlay. Given that we are an Apple house, this was basically the "shut up and take my money" point. I'm sure Google is spying on me anyway, but if I get a few more ads for cat toys and artisanal bacon, it's still a great TV.
