Sony X800H vs Samsung TU7000
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Phenomenal TV for the price. Maybe the best in its price range. We bought a Samsung TU7000 and had to return it because it was slow and glitchy—frustratingly unreliable smart OS. This Sony X800H on the other hand is EXTREMELY fast. Super responsive and streaming is a breeze. It’s Android Smart OS is second to none. Very impressed by their XI processor! Picture wise, we compared the Samsung TU7000 to the Sony X800H side by side and the Sony was hands down the better picture quality. Sony X800H was vibrant with natural colors and much more detailed vs Samsung TU7000 was saturated and bright just to be bright. I will say tho that the Samsung performed better for darker scenes but not enough to change our mind about the Sony. Also, TU7000 remote is cheap with buttons poorly positioned vs Sony remote’s ergonomic design is sleek and classy. Overall, expect this Sony to last quite some time like most of their products. We may just stick with Sony TVs from now on. One of our favorite purchases of the year. No regrets, HIGHLY recommended. You won’t be disappointed.

So Far So Good!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good! I was going to get a different brand to replace my failing tv. I had researched the tv thoroughly and was ready to pull the trigger. Went to my local BB store and even though online said 3 of the tv's were in stock there were none to be had... Also the soonest I could get one would be 1 week + -! They had an open box of the 43" Bravia X800H. I was a bit apprehensive as the unit was already used/returned and from my research was not the best choice for darker rooms. This new set was for my bedroom which has a tendency to be more dark than well lit... I have never had an issue with sony quality and have had their Bravia tv's in the past! With the additional savings for the open box I decided to get it & if I didn't like it I could always return it. Well man-O-man what a tv! Set up was a breeze and the picture is gorgeous!! I have not even seen the 4k in action but the upscaling provides an awesome pop! Even OTA HD TV is gorgeous! No issues with the darker scenes being washed out or muddled! Even when the tv is the only light source in the room. Looking forward to exploring all the options! Very happy! Thank you SONY!!!

Finally, a real smart television.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally, a real smart television. The Sony was very easy to set up. Extremely intuitive remote. The tuner was more sensitive than the Samsung that was returned to BestBuy. HDMI Inputs were recognized and ready to go. Had no problem identifying a Kodi box or Amazon Fire Stick. The settings menu is unbelievably intuitive to use as is the rest of the menus. The set comes with a handful of apps. They are not intrusive and are not an overwhelming influence on menu navigation ( take a hint Samsung.) And most of them can be removed. Very powerful speakers for the size of the device. The remote exen works well with Kodi on a Rasp Berry Pi. So far I can't find anything remotely lacking on the set. And I doubt I will

Lackluster
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture is nice. Lack of real Bluetooth audio streaming is a negative. Also, after less than a year, half of my video screen is jumping. At the exact centerline of the TV set. Will be contacting support soon. In tv mode and video inputs.

Great TV, but doesn't work with all wall mounts.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality is outstanding, and it's great if you use the stand it comes with. However, it doesn't mount well if you're using a wall mount that extends and pivots. The mounting holes are too close together on the back of the TV, which makes it incompatible with many wall mounts. Be cautious buying with wall mounts.

Posted .Hi HardToHangThisTV,
Thank you for the feedback. VESA has developed a set of standards for the manufacturing of flat screen televisions and monitors. Most manufacturers comply with this standard by adhering to an industry wide hole pattern on the back of the TV or monitor for mounting purposes. More details on the link below.

Intentionally bad software courtesy of Sony.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My mother-in-law purchased this TV from Bestbuy as a gift for my son upon my recommendation. It appears I chose poorly. Two Stars: The picture quality is as good as it can be without it being an OLED screen. The sound from the speakers is also very good for built in speakers although I would prefer a soundbar at the bare minimum. These are the only two reason's this TV gets a two star review. The TV was intended to be used as a monitor for my son's gaming consoles and his PC, so audio was not a concern. No Star: Sony has decided in their Bluetooth software to exclude their own Bluetooth headphones from compatibility. We have a pair of Sony headphones, MDR-XB950B1, that are a little over a year old. This TV only supports A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), and will never see them while trying to connect. So if you have a Sony product that doesn't support A2DP you are out of luck. (Connecting old and new Android phones took 2 seconds.) The work around would be to get a third party Bluetooth receiver, connect it to the audio out on the back of the TV and pair your device to that receiver. Sony did this to get you to buy the newest headphones/remote speakers. No Star: Sony has also programmed the TV to refuse connections from PC's if trying to Mirror the screen under wireless display or dock settings in Windows 8.1 or 10. The only way to do this is to use a HDMI cable. No Star: Sony's technical support is lackluster at best. I had sent an email to them regarding the headphone issue. The website claims they will email you back within 24 hours, with a COVID 19 disclaimer that it may take longer. Two weeks later I still haven't received a response. I set up an online chat with them and spent over two hours waiting to get an answer. After an hour and a half with the first agent who's typing was one word every four minutes, she stopped typing and I got a notification that a new agent was in the chat to help. I had to reinvent the wheel. The second agent confirmed that the TV only supports A2DP devices for audio streaming and that the TV doesn't support screen mirroring. On a side note the TV's HDMI ports are all side loaded. This can be a problem if your HDMI cables are thick as they will be hard to bend so that you don't see them protruding off the side of the TV. The Inputs are close to the edge. They should have been placed one to two inches more toward the center of the TV. I had to use 90 degree adapters to conceal the cables.

1 Year of Perfect then Beware!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a lot of features I loved about this X800G, picture, sound, operating system, and overall ease of use. The television was perfect for our needs until...it just stopped working without any warning or indication there was something wrong. Turned it off one night after a movie and the next morning it was completely dead. That was after 14 months of ownership and two months past the one year warranty. It took way more effort than was necessary to get Sony to stand behind their name and product. The remedy is almost as painful as having dead television itself. First service call was a failure as apparently the brand new boards Sony sent the local contracted service center were bad and the television did not work. So it'll be almost another two weeks before Sony can send new boards for the same company to install. I appreciate Sony extending what they call a good will gesture but don't take the cheapest route possible while not taking in consideration the customers time, aggravation and inconvenience. Maybe next time I'll take the cheaper route and not spend my hard earned money on anything Sony. I may have to make some sacrifices in doing so but at least I know those cheaper options will work past 14 months which in my opinion makes it much more valuable in the long run. My suggestion to others is to take a good look at the Sony forums and other review boards and notice at several million people complaining that their televisions stopped working anywhere from several months to a few years after purchase. Sony is slow or non-responsive to most complaints.

Excellent Picture - Terrible WiFi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent Picture - TERRIRBLE WiFi This TV has the great picture I have come to expect from a Bravia Sony TV. and the Android TV system is pretty fast. BUT, when it comes to Wifi the connection is terrible. It keeps losing the network. 75% of the times we turn on the TV, the network is not connected. Many times the network disappear. I have checked the signal strength next to the TV and it is very good. I have conducted speed test and I get good speeds also. I have read the forums. Many, may questions raised to Sony about this. I have another 2 Sony TV's at home and none of them have this problem

Posted .Hi moshesan,
We do apologize for the inconvenience. Before you proceed, perform a power reset (restart) and check if it resolves the issue. If the issue still occurs, refer to the troubleshooting articles below on how to resolve your issue.
https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/xbr-43x800h/articles/00184280
Here are some tips to maximize network and internet performance for your TV.
Avoid using multiple routers in your home network environment If multiple routers with wireless connectivity are used in a home environment, it is possible that each will supply the same IP address. This can cause issues with connectivity. Contact the router manufacturer, uninstall or suspend the functions of one of the routers.
Also, use a wired connection when possible. Advancing equipment has improved the speed and reliability of Wi-Fi services. However, wireless connections are still not as fast or stable as a wired connection. Devices such as streaming Blu-ray Disc players, internet capable TVs, media players or gaming systems (e.g. the PlayStation console) need increasing amounts of bandwidth. We highly recommend connecting these devices to your modem or router using a wired Ethernet connection that is communication category 5e or more (Cat 5e).
Best placement of the Wi-Fi router in the home There are two primary choices and tradeoffs on where you and your technician set up your internet equipment.
If you use Wi-Fi equally throughout the house, the Wi-Fi equipment should be placed as close to the middle of your home as possible. This helps provide the best possible Wi-Fi signal throughout the household.
Avoid placing the Wi-Fi router in a closet or cabinet or placing it behind something (such as a TV, aquarium or staircase). This will weaken the signal.

Operating system crashing and USB bugs, Do not buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought for my bedroom mounted on the wall and installed led lights behind the screen only to find out that the lights turn on randomly and turn off. Found out on the web that this is bug which ALL Sony XBR's have (but no other brands) and Sony seems to have no interest in fixing it, as it sends power to the USB ports intermittently when TV power is off. Rewired the lights to outlet. (Have same light on LG tv' s and no issues) One week after purchase the operating system crashed. Turned the set on and had no sound on some of the inputs but YouTube had sound. Attempts to reboot found other issues, using the Netflix button crashed the screen, Using the TV button crashed again. After two reboots its working but slowly and not smoothly. I have two LG OLED WebOS tv's, and one is 6 years old and neither one has EVER CRASHED! Sony has lost it. I am not dealing with this lack of quality, thankfully Best Buy has a 1 month return policy....I am buying a LG Nano Cell TV...A real shame because we really liked the set, great picture and when it worked nice operating system...but if this happened in the first week what will happen later, plus there are other people reporting issues with Sony TV's, none on the LG models.....

BlueTooth Does Not Work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice TV. However, if you need BlueTooth connectivity, look elsewhere. I tried 7 different devices before contacting Sony and learning that I was out of luck. BlueTooth works with included remote and that’s it. Sort of deceptive advertising by Sony. Also, using the headphone jack mutes the TV speakers. Really disappointed about these 2 drawbacks to an otherwise nice TV. I have a Sony 900F and it is great. I assumed that this TV would function the same. If I had it all over to do I would have saved a couple of hundred bucks and bought another brand with a working BlueTooth platform and the ability to use the headphone jack without muting the TV speakers.

Frustrating TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony is doing a terrible job with quality control the last few years. Their products used to be excellent, not anymore. I have had this TV less than a year and it it giving me headaches. I have to do a reset once or twice a week - every week. Today I turned on the tv and got a white screen with grey splotches. The grey faded away but the screen was still white. I tried pushing buttons and could hear it on the tv but nothing happened or if it did I couldn't see it. So I did a reset by holding power button down until something happened. When the tv came back on the screen was back but there was a slight flickering, which I can only assume will get worse. We also constantly get notices on the screen that the wi-fi has no internet connection or that we need to set up the internet. We've done all that, plus we wouldn't be able to watch if we didn't have internet connection. It's so frustrating that I want to take the dumb thing out and shoot it! I've bought 2 sony cameras in the last 3 years that are also garbage. I am done with sony.

How is the picture issue? If you can access the settings menu of the TV, we recommend connecting the TV via wired LAN cable for internet then update the software of the TV. Update the software of your TV A firmware update improves the functionality and features of your device. It can provide fixes to any performance issues that may occur.

Just go buy a Vizio for half the price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I bought this to replace a 43" Vizio, and honestly, the picture and sound quality of this TV vs. the Vizio appears nearly identical, however, the Vizio cost half as much. Sony TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is this TV supposed to lean backward. I have this TV in my bedroom on my dresser which is higher than my bed and the TV leans backward. Also i notice an echo sound. Is this normal that the TV should slightly lean backward and have an echo sound?
No, I would not recommend this to a friendBrand response from SonyListens
Posted .Hi Mabel,
We do apologize for the inconvenience. The television should not lean back. To prevent the TV from toppling:
1. Secure the TV to a wall and/or Stand.
2. Avoid placing or hanging items on the TV.
3. Never install the TV on:
- slippery, unstable, and/or uneven surfaces.
- furniture that can easily be used as steps, such as a chest of drawers
4. Install the TV where it cannot be pulled, pushed, or knocked over.
5. Install the TV so that the TV’s Table-Top Stand does not protrude out from the Stand (not supplied). If the Table-Top Stand protrudes out from the Stand, it may cause TV set to topple over, fall down.
For the echo sound issue, try a different source to isolate the issue.
