Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV specifically to use it has a PC monitor at 4K120Hz given that it is advertised to handle a 4K120Hz image. However, in reality, 4K120Hz is extremely blurry. It's unusable and it's especially noticeable when the TV is used as a PC monitor. From what I have gathered online, it's actually only displaying 3840 x 1080 in 4K resolution. This is half the resolution of true 4K (3840 x 2160). It's therefore downscaling your input devices resolution setting. Text looks absolutely awful. It creates a double image effect and the appearance of blurriness that not only looks awful, but causes eye strain as your eyes seek to do their best to focus an un-focusable image. The issue appears to be restricted to 4k120Hz as when I switch to 4K60hz, the display renders true 4K. That said, I am paying a price premium for a 4k120Hz display. If I wanted to run the display at 4K60Hz, there are cheaper options. The 2021 Vizio MQ6 has a 4K60Hz display with a wide color gamut and a decent response time in gaming mode. It's not as bright, but half the price. Sadly I may return this TV and buy the Vizio MQ6 instead. Google TV and the promise of VRR by the end of the year are not enough to make me keep this TV unless they actually figure out how to get the X1 processor to render 4K120Hz properly. By contrast, I bought a 43 inch X800H for my daughter last year who was in her Senior year of Game Art and Design study. The X800H, with it's relative color accurate IPS panel makes for a brilliant computer monitor. The X85J has a VA panel unfortunately. So does the aforementioned Vizio. Sadly, I can live with a VA Panel as long as it worked as adverstised. Buyer Beware. Know that it's not truly a 4K120Hz TV before you make the same mistake that I did!

The X85J supports the features specified in HDMI 2.1 standard like 4K120, eARC/ARC, ALLM, and VRR(VRR will be available via a future firmware update). You will need to set the TV HDMI® signal format to Enhanced format for your source device to recognize the 4K 120Hz capability of the TV. Make sure your device is connected to the HDMI 3 or HDMI 4 input on the TV using the supplied Certified Premium HDMI cable.
1. Select Settings → Watching TV → External inputs → HDMI signal format.
2. Select the input the device is connected to (either HDMI 3 or HDMI 4), and then change the setting to Enhanced format.
The video quality displayed on the TV will be determined by the method used to connect the computer. A high quality, high-speed HDMI cable is recommended for best performance. The picture may be blurry and may not be displayed correctly depending on your connection status. In this case, change the computer’s settings and select a different input signal in “Supported computer input signals”
With an even clearer 4K signal, everything you watch is closer to 4K(4K: 3,840 x 2,160 pixels) resolution, full of lifelike color and contrast. Need a 2.1 HDMI cable to run 4K 120HZ.

Seeing as I dont have an hdmi cable that is 2.1 to get the 4k 120hz capabilities of the tv is alright, im still running it on 4k 60hz with my 2.0hdmi cable. Everything thing is so smooth and amazing, I ordered my 2.1 hdmi cables to run 120hz and 4k hdr. Cant wait to see the differences.

Picture quality is awesome, and the sound is spot on for a TV this size. It fills our small cabin with no problems. The main reason I got this one vs another is that is had Google TV and gets bright enough to do decent HDR. We have a TP-Link Wifi Router (C80) and this TV loses connection overnight for some reason. I ended up hardwiring it and that resolved the issue. The WiFi connection issue is the reason for 4 stars vs 5.

It is in my office, and is viewed on a 45 degree angle in relation to my desk and computer. The clarity of the TV in general is just ok. I have more advanced technology TV's in my family room and bedroom. They definitely have a more detailed, and life like picture. I decided it wasn't necessary to buy the next step up 43 Sony TV. This model was priced well, and served my needs. Sony TV's are usually my TV of choice.

Clear picture, good sound, and just looks good. It’s a little pricey as you can find other of the same size for less, however the performance of the TV is what makes it worth it.

I didn't use the provided stand, but chose to wall mount this in our bedroom. It has a beautiful picture. Sound is decent from the internal speakers, but I'm still going to put a sound bar on it some time, soon.

Not Real 4K at 120hz. Better options available

The colors, size, and build quality are excellent. The biggest drawback that makes me deduct 2 whole starts is the fake 120hz mode. This TV can run 4K 60hz but it cant run 4K 120hz properly. When I put the TV into 12-Hz mode the image clarity dramatically decreases and text becomes very hard to read. I am hoping this gets fixed with an update but that seems unlikely. DO NOT BUY FOR 4K 120HZ. If you need a TV solely for movies and shows at 43 inches this is good. If you're looking for only gaming look at the FV43U. If you're looking for one that does both alright this is a good option. If you can move up ion size to 48 inches then the LG Cx/C1 are the best options for movies and gaming in one TV. Or if you need 43 inches LG might be dropping a 43-inch OLED next year!

Has all the features I wanted and the size was right for limited space, Used mostly for watching sports, movies etc. Great picture and Sony never lets me down.

It has Google build in so you can install all you favorite Apps and no switching inputs just tell it with voice control to go to a certain app and Bada bing it comes on you can use your remote to turn on and off all your smart toys by just saying it, I can’t believe all the features that this tv has including the Beautiful picture

Fantastic 43" TV finally!

Hooray DC dimming! This PWM free TV is exactly what I needed. With that out of the way this TV has fantastic contrast and amazing picture quality. It is not the brightest tv, I will say..
